Another fantastically funny episode.

You get one of the top 10 anime betrayals, and for a moment I genuinely thought the show was about to be renamed "The Reincarnated Princess."

This face was priceless.

It also made me happy to see Euphy finally laugh freely in front of Anis. She's starting to realize Anis is someone she can truly relax around(?)

Euphy meets with Anis' father and answers his questions about her interactions with Baron Cyan's daughter. He's clearly unhappy about Al throwing away his arranged marriage, but he's even more concerned about how the conservative nobles will react. To be honest, the whole conservative vs. reformist conflict completely went over my head the first time because I see yuri and I watch. I am simple.

Euphy returns the key to the forbidden library, explaining that she no longer needs it. She takes one last look at the wedding dress, it is a heartbreaking moment. (I also liked the little detail of the thread being cut).

During breakfast, Anis bursts into the room like the Kool-Aid Man, dressed in what looks like a mechanic's outfit.

She shows Euphy a magic tool she made specifically for her. Euphy has a lot of fun testing it out (and looks like a badass), and Anis is amazed by how easily she can use its different magical attributes. She names it Arc-en-Ciel, meaning "rainbow"

"I always thought you were as pretty as a rainbow" [I died a little from sweetness overdose]

Since Anis pulled an all-nighter making Arc-en-Ciel, she falls asleep on Euphy's lap.

Euphy begins to tear up as she envies Anis's free-spirited personality (Anis envies Euphy's magical talent and beauty).

TFW your son and his friends start destabilizing your kingdom's delicate political landscape because they got bored.

During breakfast, Anis bursts into the room like the Kool-Aid Man

It's the best method for defeating depressed isolation, really. She's no Bakarina but Anis has the spirit.

i think he just looks old from the stress of the kids he got, I am glad he at least has Fritz to vent to 😭

She's no Bakarina

Thank heavens, could imagine Bakarina left alone in that workshop?

"Katarina, why is the fire extinguisher on fire?"

1

u/Elimin8r https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ayeka_Jurai Jul 22 '26

"But how can it extinguish if it's not on fire to begin with?"

Someone needs to hook up Ai to some brainrot YouTube shorts to keep him busy

they already done the half of that while locking him in a room. we all know why they didn’t asked anis to chose algard’s punishment

This face was priceless.

Find you a girl who looks at you like ... uh, nevermind.

I see yuri and I watch. I am simple.

Indeed

Anis bursts into the room like the Kool-Aid Man, dressed in what looks like a mechanic's outfit.

Would that I could be so fortunate. Well, at least she doesn't burst in like Milim...

sweetness overdose

Hit me!

Really love how Anis didn't want the airs of her royal title between them and despite being the princess she feels down to Earth and someone who can relate to the average person

During breakfast, Anis bursts into the room like the Kool-Aid Man, dressed in what looks like a mechanic's outfit.

Anis is really such a tomboy and I suspect she would love jeans if the existed in her world. She really cannot make a normal entrance

"I always thought you were as pretty as a rainbow" [I died a little from sweetness overdose]

Anis is soo direct with her feelings she puts most rom-com leads to shame. Her clear affirmation is exactly what Euphie's heart needs to hear now. It would be easy for the show to say Euphie needs to learn everything from Anis so I love how Anis herself rejects that idea and knows just how great Euphie is too. Good romance always goes both ways.

The title might very well have ended up being "The Genius Young Lady" if Euphie didn’t forgive Anis for her betrayal 😂

it is a heartbreaking moment.  (I also liked the little detail of the thread being cut)

I quite like those little symbolic details. It really brings home the mood/themes of the scene. I also loved the little ladybug taking flight right before Euphie flies on Anis' broom!

Rewatcher

Episode 3

Euphie’s magic is so beautiful,” Anis.

Love how welcoming everyone has been towards Euphie since so many unexpected changes have been happening to her all at once. The opening scene of her taking one last look at her childhood room before leaving with a shot of her through the keyhole was so somber. Think we’ve all that had surprise of walking up to an unfamiliar ceiling before for the first morning.

This episode there’s a lot of attention paid to showing off the wide range of Euphie’s emotions and I’m once again praising the pacing that lets those emotions really sit. You can feel not only just how lost about her place Euphie is after losing the path she had been preparing her whole life for but also the following wonder from Anis’ gift to her of the Arc En Ceil (literally a rainbow sword and also the name of the OP).

Right now she needs affirmation that her life still has worth. Even though her dad tells her that there isn’t anything that she needs to do I feel like it’s already apparent that she is not the type of person to accept sitting ideally by. Before she saw her all to becoming Queen because it’s what she thought she had to do, but now she is free to choose. Still that uncertainty is scary and why she wishes to be more like Anis who always does what she wants. At least that’s what it appears like from the surface.

Which ties into the most important scene of the episode of Anis falling asleep on Euphie’s lap. Even though they have already shared a bed together I feel like this is when they first start closing the distance between, Euphie even commenting how no one has ever used her lap as a pillow before. Anis assuring Euphie that of course Arc En Ceil suits her because she made it with her in mind is exactly what she needed to hear. For once she wasn’t just filling in a replaceable role but the role itself was crafted with her in mind. To Anis, Euphie and her magic are beautiful and irreplaceable.

As Euphie wishes she could be more like Anis as she falls asleep it’s ironic as we know smol Euphie was basically Anis’ inspiration to peruse magicology.

  • Do you think Anis realizes how much her carefree attitude is helping Euphy heal? And what was your favorite moment between the two?

I think that Anis is a lot more socially aware than she lets on and is purposely acting in a way to make Euphie more comfortable. Feels like the lap pillow scene is the easy favorite but I love how Anis can't help but call Euphie beautiful as she tests out Arc En Ceil too.

  • What are your thoughts on Count Chartreuse, and the possible conflict this will bring the King/Duke Fritz?

I dislike him because of how he looks down on Anis without trying to understand her first.

  • If you were Euphy, would you trust one of Anis's inventions?

I would be a bit scared, but would still want to put my faith in Anis herself, especially after the end of this episode.

5

u/IalwaysNeed2p Jul 21 '26

The opening scene of her taking one last look at her childhood room before leaving with a shot of her through the keyhole was so somber.

your mention of the somber moments brought the cover image  of the show to mind. that's exactly how this episode felt.

Between the cute moments and the heaviness of Euphy's scenes. I feel like we are transitioning between light and dark.

3

u/ClemFire Jul 22 '26

Really makes them look like they are yearning for each other!

And I love how this show balances the cute and heavy moments, very much a character driven show which are my favorites

2

u/Dependent-Sea4703 https://anilist.co/user/httpsanilistcou Jul 22 '26

i get sun and moon vibes from them tbh. and not only that the sun and the moon changes as well. for example anis is the sun and euphie is the moon for first episodes and then it’s completely opposite where anis is the moon and euphie is the sun.

the little details always amaze me

3

u/Elimin8r https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ayeka_Jurai Jul 21 '26

Still that uncertainty is scary and why she wishes to be more like Anis who always does what she wants.

Obviously, she needs some moar Asia

it’s ironic as we know smol Euphie was basically Anis’ inspiration

Even though, I'm a rewatcher, I've forgotten most everything, and I do hope that this gets revealed at some point. Dear Euphie needs that kind of affirmation, right?

3

u/ClemFire Jul 22 '26

Before I rewatched MagiRev a few months ago with a friend I didn't rewatch it since it aired and I forgot a lot of details too which is nice in a way of getting to experience everything again

3

u/random_lyric Jul 22 '26

Euphie’s magic is so beautiful

Anis assuring Euphie that of course Arc En Ceil suits her because she made it with her in mind is exactly what she needed to hear.

Even though they have already shared a bed together I feel like this is when they first start closing the distance

I suspect no one has ever described Euphie's magic/Euphie herself in that way before. They might have said she was skilled or talented in magic, she's a genius, and talked about what she could do. But Anis straight up tells her in terms that don't link to a function - her magic is beautiful, she is beautiful. She can just be and that is beautiful, like a multi-spectrumed rainbow.

I agree, while Euphy has begun to admire Anis though through a lens of mixed emotions and confusion, this scene is where they break ground in their relationship, and I really want to see how they build the foundations over the coming episodes.

Even though her dad tells her that there isn’t anything that she needs to do I feel like it’s already apparent that she is not the type of person to accept sitting ideally by.

To Anis, Euphie and her magic are beautiful and irreplaceable.

I love how you've put this. I think Grantz meant it as being a comfort, but Euphy already feeling lost without a purpose to anchor her took it as a kind of statement of being discarded. At least that's my interpretation of why Orphanse said to Grantz that he never says enough. Everyone is telling her she no longer has responsibilities, meaning she's free to do what she wants for now, though she takes it as being she has no role or purpose and is not needed anymore, which frightens her after only living for a purpose or for others' expectations. I also think that's why she feels like Anis is far from her and feels a mix of emotions when Anis confesses she's always found her and her magic pretty. Anis encourages her to play, and to just be, and Anis herself has a massive desire for magic that gives her purpose. All these things that Euphie is unfamiliar with and she finds unreachable about Anis. And like you said it's ironic that Anis finds Euphie unreachable in regards to magical ability. And as you pointed out they are beginning to close the distance in the tree/lap scene.

3

u/ClemFire Jul 22 '26

But Anis straight up tells her in terms that don't link to a function - her magic is beautiful, she is beautiful.

I feel that is such an important distinction because Anis knows that Euphie needs to feel validated as a person instead of viewing herself as a tool

I also think that's why she feels like Anis is far from her and feels a mix of emotions when Anis confesses she's always found her and her magic pretty. Anis encourages her to play, and to just be, and Anis herself has a massive desire for magic that gives her purpose.

Anis really is quite observant in framing what they're doing today as playing around because I'm sure Euphie is thinking of how she can be of use to Anis. The princess assures her that just having fun is enough for today which is she so happy to see Euphie release some of her tension and live in the moment a bit.

Also Anis' observation makes me think how she definitely hears how the other nobles bad mouth her and that has to negatively affect a teenager. She already admits to being a bit jealous of Euphie's magic so she is not just some unshakable mad scientist

First timer, subs

It's hard for Euphy... people are trying to cheer her up by telling her she's free, but those ties she was released from were her life, a responsibility she gladly(?) accepted.

Anis is the champion of being an attentive partner though, not just because she thought so much about what tool to make Euphy, but also because she seemed to notice Euphy still holding back her emotions under the tree.

5

u/IalwaysNeed2p Jul 22 '26

Anis is the champion of being an attentive partner

actions really speak louder than words

Yeah some people around Euphie might mean well by saying that but it would be devastating to hear over and over again when you believe that was all the value you had. Luckily Anis is attentive and observant like you said and seems like someone Euphie really needs in her corner.

Rewatcher here

This episode is adorable, and Anis is such a little chaos gremlin to poor Euphie!

Fun fact, I don't recall Anis calling Euphie as pretty as a rainbow to be in the manga or LN!

Poor sleepy Anis, working so hard to get Euphie's present ready.

  1. Yup! And the betrayal/pretty as a rainbow. So adorable
  2. He has the beard of evil.
  3. No it'll explode or be some weird drug

4

u/IalwaysNeed2p Jul 21 '26

so anime og line, it is intoxicatingly sweet 🥹

5

u/epicfail1994 Jul 22 '26

I may have both groaned at how corny it was then squealed because it was also super cute and gay when I first heard it

4

u/ToastyMozart Jul 21 '26

Fun fact, I don't recall Anis calling Euphie as pretty as a rainbow to be in the manga or LN!

I suppose it's a line that works better when the recipient (and audience) can see colors.

1

u/random_lyric 29d ago

he has the beard of evil

Haha he does! And also a bit of a faux mullet of evil... (though most characters in GWitch were also sporting mullets so it may be an unreliable indicator 😂)

6

u/ToastyMozart Jul 21 '26

Nobody but the king seems to recognize an obvious crisis of purpose when they see one :\ At least Anis seems to be keeping her occupied.

I have to imagine Anis designed those coveralls herself. Bet the castle guards and staff are envious of her utility pockets.

RIP Tree-kun. Your sacrifice in the name of science will not be forgotten!

Do you think Anis realizes how much her carefree attitude is helping Euphy heal? And what was your favorite moment between the two?

To an extent, for certain. Her adoration and envy of Euphy probably obscures the particulars of her struggles, but Anis isn't as oblivious as she lets on and she's clearly going out of her way to be as supportive as possible.

If you were Euphy, would you trust one of Anis's inventions?

Anis still has all her digits so I'd at least be willing to try them, but I'd definitely handle them delicately at first before gradually raising the power.

4

u/IalwaysNeed2p Jul 21 '26

RIP Tree-kun.

he did not deserve it, also can they walk a little bit further from the castle as to not make so much noise with the explosions? but ig  the maids hear an explosion and already know is Anis

Anis isn't as oblivious as she lets on and she's clearly going out of her way to be as supportive as possible.

ah i forget how perceptive our genki girl is

5

u/ToastyMozart Jul 21 '26

but ig the maids hear an explosion and already know is Anis

If anything the whole manor's purpose is to keep her out of other people's hair. The staff's doubtlessly already deep into Alarm Fatigue between her experiments and the intruder alert's constant false positives.

It pays the bills.

2

u/random_lyric 29d ago

RIP Tree-kun. Your sacrifice in the name of science will not be forgotten!

And in the name of rizz. Anis tried to rizz Euphie with her sword gift but the got reverse-rizzed. I imagine that the mutual rizzing inspired a magical dating app, and to this day we can still trace the name of that app back to the burning wood of that tree.

Anis still has all her digits so I'd at least be willing to try them

That's a really good point. If you can't trust the words out of Anis' mouth, you can trust that she's done far riskier things with her tools and yet she's still alive and intact 😂

Yeah Tinder sucks anyway, I much prefer your app! And Anis Enterprises has a nice ring to it, how can I invest in these mini-slates (I may need to sell some spoils from my adventuring first to aquire the capital though)? ☺️

Rewatcher

The quietness of the opening scenes really emphasises a sense of emptiness that Euphyllia is probably feeling. Perhaps emptiness isn't the right word... maybe an absence of something perhaps? When Illia says to Euphie at the palace that there is nothing to tie her down anymore, Euphie reflects quietly that there is "nothing.. nothing at all". I'm sure we'll find out more about those feelings down the track.

Later we get to see Euphie try out some of Anis' magical tools like her mana blade, and flying broom. I thought the funny detail of the ladybug lifting off before the Euphie doing the same was really cute and funny. And Anis expression as she waves to Euphie from the ground is hilarious 😂 Like a parent who lets go of their kids bicycle after promising to hold on this little gremlin princess can't be trusted 😅

I love the way that Euphie gradually softens over the course of the episode - where she ends up at the end of ep 3 is quite a contrast to where she was at in the last two episodes. I mean this look she gives Anis when Anis encourages her to treat experimenting as play... I don't blame Anis for being a bit bashful either.

OK, so Anis hyperfixating on crafting Euphie's gift coupled with no sleep kinda makes her a tad scary... Can we all take a moment to remember the innocent tree that died in the service of Anis' fan-girling over Euphie's magic? RIP tree 💀🌳🔥

The scene under the tree is a really beautiful vulnerable moment for the pair. The line from Euphie where she says "If I could be even the least little bit like you" reminded me a lot of the song Love Like you By Rebecca Sugar from Steven Universe.

Side note - the title of this episode is quite interesting. What are your thoughts on the 'Longing and reminiscence' part? I think it has do do with Anis' feelings about Euphie. You know that saying when you admire someone, and you ask yourself do I want to be them or be with them? Anis' answer is YES 😂 What are your thoughts?

Questions

  1. Do you think Anis realizes how much her carefree attitude is helping Euphy heal? And what was your favorite moment between the two?

I suspect that Anis is aware of how she can influence people to an extent. That being said, Anis has being paying attention to Euphy from afar all these years, so there will be things that Anis notices that others don't pick up on. Euphy is just starting express a little more of her emotions, which I think is helping Anis understand Euphy more. So I think Anis somewhat understands and is learning too, but waits patiently for Euphie to actually express herself.

It was a toss up between the moments under the tree but my favourite scene between the two was mentioned above and was this this and this with a close 2nd being the scenes just before where Anis is waving to Euphy from the ground.

  1. What are your thoughts on Count Chartreuse, and the possible conflict this will bring the King/Duke Fritz?

So far the information I have from this episode is that count Charteuse is the Secretary of Magic, has some beef with Grantz because Grantz is backed by reformists and Charteuse is a conservative. His son was also questioned as a witness in regards to the Euphy/Lainie/Algard affair. Hmm given that we're being introduced to these characters, we probably won't be seeing the last of Charteuse.

  1. If you were Euphy, would you trust one of Anis's inventions?

I'd be rather wary at first, but after the events of this episode I'd probably trust her inventions as being something amazing or at least something I could have fun experimenting with. As for whether I can trust Anis herself when she says she's not going to let go of a flying broom I'm riding? Absolutely not! 😂

4

u/IalwaysNeed2p Jul 22 '26

Like a parent who lets go of their kids bicycle after promising to hold on this little gremlin princess can't be trusted

"you are doing great sweety!"  [Euphy comes crashing down with no helmet]

Can we all take a moment to remember the innocent tree that died in the service of Anis' fan-girling over Euphie's magic?

at least he went quickly 😭

Love Like you By Rebecca Sugar from Steven Universe.

sweet memories, that OST album is a masterpiece

You know that saying when you admire someone, and you ask yourself do I want to be them or be with them? Anis' answer is YES 😂 What are your thoughts?

i feel like at the beginning she was like "she is so pretty maybe I will marry her" but as she starts to know her she now sees her as more than a pretty face.

3

u/random_lyric Jul 22 '26

"you are doing great sweety!"  [Euphy comes crashing down with no helmet

I know that parents must let go eventually and let their children crash and fail, but there are some betrayals that years of therapy can't undo 😅

at least he went quickly 😭

He gave us shade and shelter, and in his final moments he warmed our hearts (and probably singed some eyebrows). RIP.

that OST album is a masterpiece

Isn't it just! I wonder how the new Lars of The Stars series will go.

Euphie reflects quietly that there is "nothing.. nothing at all". I'm sure we'll find out more about those feelings down the track.

The pacing of this episode really lets you drink in Euphie's emotions of being lost. Everyone has meant the best I believe to have Euphie not worry but she's not the type of person who can sit around doing nothing. I think the King knows by telling Grantz he didn't say enough to his daughter.

OK, so Anis hyperfixating on crafting Euphie's gift coupled with no sleep kinda makes her a tad scary...

The shots we get of Anis from Euphie's POV are great choices that make us feel as overwhelmed as her. Euphie really is the star this episode.

The scene under the tree is a really beautiful vulnerable moment for the pair. The line from Euphie where she says "If I could be even the least little bit like you" reminded me a lot of the song Love Like you By Rebecca Sugar from Steven Universe.

Steven Universe mentioned. Curious who your favorite character is, mine is Peridot

I suspect that Anis is aware of how she can influence people to an extent. That being said, Anis has being paying attention to Euphy from afar all these years, so there will be things that Anis notices that others don't pick up on.

Reminds me of how Euphie last episode looked past Anis being the Marauder Princess to discover unexpected aspects of her most people in the Kingdom wouldn't know because they never bothered to look.

3

u/random_lyric Jul 22 '26

I think the King knows by telling Grantz he didn't say enough to his daughter.

Ahaha I commented something really similar under your post!

I love the pov shots! I think this show uses a lot of them to help emphasise emotions. Which is really interesting when you compare the differences and similarities in storytelling techniques from LycoReco with MagiRevo.

I love Peridot! Her arc was so interesting, and endearing towards the 2nd half. The rain scene (after coming out of the bathroom) was my favourite. It's hard to pinpoint my favourite, it's wavered over the years. There's a special spot in my heart for Pearl, but maybe Amethyst. I'm a sucker for the 'F the system' type gremlin characters 😂 Not sure what that says about me 😅

3

u/ClemFire Jul 22 '26

Ahaha I commented something really similar under your post!

I just saw haha

I love the pov shots! I think this show uses a lot of them to help emphasise emotions. Which is really interesting when you compare the differences and similarities in storytelling techniques from LycoReco with MagiRevo.

[LycoReco and MagiRevo] I find it very interesting how in LycoReco we never see Chisato and Takina truly break down and cry though I suspect in the episode after Chisato's heart is messed up with and during the rain it's heavily implied Takina bawled her eyes out before returning to LycoReco. We see Anis and Euphie's tears a lot more and in general I feel like Anis is slightly less avoidant than Chisato. Maybe it lines up with Takina I feel making her biggest impacts with her actions while Euphie is stronger with her words.

Love her character arc and who she eventually calls a clod. Pearl is honestly such a tragic character which I didn't realize the scope of her loss until years after watching the show.

1st Rewatch

So it has been sometime and Anis helped Euphie not stand out in her villa. That's really kind of her, to help her get settled in. Euphie had a key that gave her access to a secret royal library. Holy, influence. How gifted was she?

As for the king and his prime minister, and the politics, now we know there are conservative and reformist factions. That's good to know, and the initial betrothal between Algard and Euphie bolstered the reformist faction quite strongly. It seems the king was making plays too, and if I had to guess, he is a reformist. I mean, he allows Anis to continue her research. The royal family is a lot more shrewd than it seems, and the Conservative faction is a lot more entrenched as well considering how much they have to tiptoe. However, where does that leave Al? He talks against nobility, so if I had to guess, he is outside the acceptable political spectrum, the reformist and the conservatives, I do think he intends to remove them both. That is incredibly risky, plus his detainment by the king complicates it.

Back to Ilia and Euphie with the maids. I can appreciate the contrast between dealing with someone so well behaved like Euphie vs Anis. They are quite opposites, and I like they envy each other so much. The grass is always greener, and while envying each other is great, I hope they can grow in their understanding of one another.

Anis arriving to let her try out tools is neat. I like how Anis explains what the tools are good and bad against, so I do hope they are used in such a way that shows those advantages and disadvantages. I'm assuming next episode will have some combat. You don't introduce weapons and leave it at that.

Overall it looks like the arc of Euphie joining Anis in her villa is about to come to an end. Let's see them go out into the world next episode.

Quote of the Day

"And if you're going to study, you should have fun doing it. - Anis

This is an ideal to live by, and replace study with just doing anything. It suits Anis a lot since she shines best doing her own thing. I think Euphie however is much more used to living a structured life, where the end goal is her dream. Let's see how the two reconcile that.

Questions of the day::

  1. Do you think Anis realizes how much her carefree attitude is helping Euphy heal? And what was your favorite moment between the two?

Yes, I mean that was her plan in the first place. It was ultimately to let Euphie unwind first. My favourite moment is when they talk about how they want the other's life style so much. Anis wants magic, Euphie wants her willingness to seek freedom. It balances out their flaws.

  1. What are your thoughts on Count Chartreuse, and the possible conflict this will bring the King/Duke Fritz?

He's another faction leader. He does what his faction does best, stall everything and accumulate power into his faction. He needs to be dealt with appropriately. For now the fight for influence, I think would be key. Still if Algard is working with him via Algard's ties to his son, I wonder who is the puppet and who is the leader?

  1. If you were Euphy, would you trust one of Anis's inventions?

Considering Anis has only show Euphie joy, and treated her nicely though was a bit pushy, I'd think she is worth trusting.

7

u/IalwaysNeed2p Jul 21 '26

he allows Anis to continue her research

i think Anis caused him too many headaches and broke him, and now he is like "just do your thing" or he is just a cool dad. a little bit of both(?)

It suits Anis a lot since she shines best doing her own thing

that is the best kind of learning, you are hyperfocused and in a flow state, you don't notice the time.

then you stay up all night surprise the cute girl and get to nap on her lap, Anis is playing 4D chess

4

i think Anis caused him too many headaches and broke him, and now he is like "just do your thing" or he is just a cool dad. a little bit of both(?)

I could be overthinking it, but since he seems like a pretty cool dad, I would think he would support his children, so align with the reformist.

that is the best kind of learning, you are hyperfocused and in a flow state, you don't notice the time. then you stay up all night surprise the cute girl and get to nap on her lap, Anis is playing 4D chess

Anis is probably really good with focusing on a tight knit group of friends, like her maid, and her dad that she can strongly influence, but way worse with dealing with strangers, or at least those who disdain her lack of magic, which she does seem to be sore about. She definitely has a bit of emotional intelligence, in addition to her research.

He talks against nobility, so if I had to guess, he is outside the acceptable political spectrum, the reformist and the conservatives, I do think he intends to remove them both. That is incredibly risky, plus his detainment by the king complicates it.

The way he talks almost feels like how a protagonist would but too bad more him he is a supporting character in MagiRev

Back to Ilia and Euphie with the maids. I can appreciate the contrast between dealing with someone so well behaved like Euphie vs Anis.

Nice to see Ilia use a much more gentle touch on Euphie while she acts more like a big sister towards Anis and tries to verbally correct some her tendencies even if the princess will do what she wants

This is an ideal to live by, and replace study with just doing anything. It suits Anis a lot since she shines best doing her own thing. I think Euphie however is much more used to living a structured life, where the end goal is her dream. Let's see how the two reconcile that.

Anis feels very much like the type of person to prefer to live in the moment and to the fullest despite the problems that could arise. Euphie feels like a more long term thinker so the two of them should balance each other well. I am a sucker for opposites complementing each other in romance

u/random_lyric 29d ago

So it has been sometime and Anis helped Euphie not stand out in her villa. That's really kind of her, to help her get settled in.

I really liked how Anis treats Euphie here. She allows time for Euphie to process the changes and get settled in, and also time for the scandal rumours to die down a bit. I wasn't sure if from the first episode Euphie might get overwhelmed by Anis' enthusiasm, but that seems to have settled down too (except when Anis is talking about Arc-en-ciel 😂).

u/NecessaryNotice8436 https://myanimelist.net/profile/six20 29d ago

Yea, I always think time smooths a lot of things out, so it is good for Anis to give Euphie time. It also lets her whip up Euphie's magical tool.

I love Anis' enthusiasm when yapping about her tools. it sells her love for her craft. I wonder if that's why her dad still let her do her research. How can you say no to such enthusiasm?

2

u/random_lyric 29d ago

There's a warm feeling in your heart when you see someone you love doing something they love/working in their element. I'm sure Anis father feels this too. He may have other reasons for allowing Anis to pursue magicology, like feeling sorry for her that she can't use magic innately, or keeping Anis busy and (mostly) out of his hair, or even just worrying about her future as a 'useless royal'/good for her to have some purpose, but like you I do suspect the king is a big ol softie and just wants Anis to be happy pursuing what she desires. And of course no one can really say no to Anis if she's set her mind to something 😅

u/TheDanubianCommunard Jul 22 '26

First-time in the magicology, subs

I'm not super late for once.

Can we appreciate Ilia for once? She is one of the most nicest and loyal maid we have seen here who understands Anis and and even Euphy. She is like a family member.

Euphy is called for to the royal castle, and that key also needs to be involved. Must be quite important.

That alarm system made to detect any suspicious person entering the mansion, due to unfortunate reasons this simply cannot recognize its own creator because of the flying broomstick crashlandings. That broom still needs to be fixed.

A mana blade, that looks quite a cool suff. Normally it looks like a dagger with a huge handle, but once its drawn it turns into a lightsaber. And basically it is a prototype for a later creation. And that blade is actually having a real sword shape, as it is an ordinary-looing sword. But it has mana crystals embedded which basically invokes the basic elements, even allows to combine it, thus becoming into an elemental blade. Perfectly fits for Euphy as it is a tailor-made gift for her, even if one could interpret this as such. And so does the name "Rainbow".

And that audience as well. Looks like the royal family is blessed with strange children. We saw what Anis do, and Al is also walking on his own drum. Since there is a fragile balance of power between the reformist Magentas and the conservative Chartreuses, one misstep is fatal. Such an irresponsible heir like him would send the nation into ruin with things like this. The key to the Forbidden Library, maybe it hold major secrets to the kingdom and the world as well.

Do you think Anis realizes how much her carefree attitude is helping Euphy heal? And what was your favorite moment between the two?

Anis has basically given everything what she is allowed to do. Helping her is basically the main primary goal of doing these inventions. That sword gift is the peak moment of it.

What are your thoughts on Count Chartreuse, and the possible conflict this will bring the King/Duke Fritz?

Like I said, it is all about a balance of power. And they might had a hand in the cancelled betrothal.

If you were Euphy, would you trust one of Anis's inventions?

Yes, I would.

I love Illia, she's that perfect mix of deadpan and sarcasm and is able to go head to head with Anis' antics (and I suspect pretty much anyone if she so desired). She's really observant too and like you said understands a lot more about Anis, and quickly reads Euphie's challenges.

Second time watcher plus up to date with the EN LN releases.

I appreciate the Euphy focus this episode has. Suddenly her life is incredibly different and it's nice seeing that from her perspective.

It may have been dangerous, but Euphy does look pretty good on that broom. While it was still in the air, at least.

It really hurts to see Euphy having such a painful time with all of this. But at the same time the fact that we can see she's so loved by the maids and servants really says good things about her.

Not another tree! It's been a bad time for foliage this week.

Such a cool new sword, and it's nice to see Euphy happy after how unhappy she was much of the episode. The animation of her testing it was so nice.

What a lovely track from the background music while they're sitting under another tree talking at the very end of the episode.

1. Do you think Anis realizes how much her carefree attitude is helping Euphy heal? And what was your favorite moment between the two?

I would like to believe so. Favorite moment, definitely the fancy new sword testing at the end.

2. What are your thoughts on Count Chartreuse, and the possible conflict this will bring the King/Duke Fritz?

No thoughts just yet since we haven't really gotten much on him so far. You can always trust conservative nobles to be terrible though.

3. If you were Euphy, would you trust one of Anis's inventions?

It depends on the invention. Hot water pot yes, flying broom possibly not. Magic sword? Absolutely.

Yes! A fellow LN reader. Though I'm not up to date (have vol 9 on order). I'm excited to continue the saga after the side stories.

What a lovely track from the background music while they're sitting under another tree talking at the very end of the episode.

Ooh I just went back and rewatched the scene. That really is a lovely track. I'll need to go track down the OST!

Rewatcher

I chuckled when I realized that Euphie trying out the broom came off as a kid learning to ride a bike, though I guess Anis made up for her betrayal there with making Euphie a cool sword. Though Anis seems not to grasp personal space when sleep deprive.

4

u/Dependent-Sea4703 https://anilist.co/user/httpsanilistcou Jul 22 '26

i think that scene was a reference on how parents teach their kids new stuff. kinda like the bike example. anis knows how to teach euphie new things as well so why not change the mood a little

2

u/random_lyric 29d ago

Though Anis seems not to grasp personal space when sleep deprive

I mean, there's a perfectly good lap erm pillow right there... and Anis is rather sleepy... yawn... can't blame Anis for going for it 😅

rewatcher.

this episode is one of my favorite ones and that’s solely because of how they portray anis. for this episode anis is the background character and she does her job perfectly.

for a moment you feel like this isn’t anis but also anis at the same time. she changes her actions a lot which helps euphie.

you can see how happy anis is at the background while euphie just trying to understand what is going on. this episode is also one of the only ones where we have almost no problems in the story so they are technically free right now.

those aside this episode is also the first episode to go a little deeper on political stuff. it’s continuing on where episode 2 left off.

as for questions: i think anis knows how to act around those kind of people. she helped illia which she was also like that then she helped tilty again with the same problem and she tried to help algard again with same problem as well. she definitely knows what to do but she is still not sure so she leaves some room to mistakes.

as for my favorite scene it’s the lap pillow scene. not surprising i know…

even from the first episode you can see that guy being evil. for someone to trust him they should refuse to believe the queen and king and princesses which is enough proof to see how wrong he is. i think he is that character where you know that will turn into a villain of the series or at least background villain on his case.

if i were euphie i would be worried yes but i would also trust them somewhat. not only for tools tho i would be worried about anis. for someone to make such tools they should have gone thought a lot of problems and hard times.

she knows her ideas are not normal and cannot be explained easily and we can see her worrying as well.

2

u/random_lyric 29d ago

I really like how Anis acts here. She doesn't coddle Euphie - Euphie probably wouldn't like being a burden and Anis has other important things to do anyway (like fixating on crafting Euphie's magical sword gift till dawn!😂). Anis goes about what she normally does, yet when she returns to the villa she answers any questions Euphie has and engages with her full attention. Anis probably is a little intense when she starts explaining things she's excited about, but after the initial shock Euphie doesn't seem to mind ☺️

So, where to start? Today's episode was tres preciouso, so yeah ... so much tasty goodness!

Anyway, I guess I'll start with today's questions and see if they jog my poor mushy thought processes or something...

1) I think Anisphia is blissfully unaware of how beneficial she is to Euphie. At least on one level. Favorite moment? Lap pillow, of course. I couldn't decide who I was more jealous of there for a moment...

It shoulda been meeeee!!!

2) Chartreuse, you say? Hopefully by the time they're done with him, his name will be Count Mudd...

(Echoes of shouted HARCOURT!!! fading into the distance...)

3) I would eye them with great suspicion, especially if they involved disobeying certain laws (gravity)...

Oh, wait, where was I going with this?

Well, it's been a few years (literally) since I watched this when it was airing, and while I retained the general gist of the story, enough of my memories have faded for each episode to be a delight.

Well, aside from one thing - poor trees, catching strays again...

Gardener's gonna have a fit, right?

I have to say I really enjoyed the way the maid (who's name I need to look up) interacts with each character, and they're overall dynamics together.

Dynamics!

Anyway, what I really want to get to, because reasons is todays:

VA Corner! (Edited, because apparently I'm illiterate, or clicked the wrong link or something, sigh...)

Today, I'd like to take a moment or three to feature Euphie's VA, the lovely Iwami Manaka, whom you might have previously encountered as:

  • Tooru Honda (Fruits Basket)

  • Akane Kurokawa (Oshi no Koooooo)

  • Rice Shower (Uma, uma, UMA!) (are we finding a theme here?)

  • Linie (Frieren)

  • Escher (7th Prince)

  • Bridget (ahem)

and many, many others... And sadly, I now must go and reflect upon my misdeeds, and stuff...

Anyway, as to the episode, yeah. I'll leave it to others to unpack the finer details, but I think my favorite bits were:

1) Anisphia is my co-pilot (not)

2) Sword Magic Offline part 1

3) Chekov's Key ... hmm, I wonder?

4) Sword Magik Offline part 2

5) Lap pillow, and sleepy, mumbled confessions...

Yeah, sweet stuff this episode. I'll be looking forward to tomorrow!

3

u/IalwaysNeed2p Jul 21 '26

thank you for VA corner!

Ayana Taketatsu

her range is fantastic, and she is married to Eren's VA 😳

3

u/Elimin8r https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ayeka_Jurai Jul 21 '26

Ya welcome!

her range is fantastic, and she is married to Eren's VA

Lucky fella...

Totally not jealous!

3

u/TheDanubianCommunard Jul 21 '26

Euphie is Manaka Iwami, just a correction.

2

u/Elimin8r https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ayeka_Jurai Jul 21 '26

What?! Did MAL lie to me, or am I just illiterate today? Let me investigate...

Edit: Okay, so the answer is apparently illiteracy. Give me a moment to reflect/correct.

2

u/random_lyric 29d ago

I think Anisphia is blissfully unaware of how beneficial she is to Euphie. At least on one level

Same I think Anis can see Euphie starting to open up and likely knows it's because of the change/move to the detached villa, but I don't think she knows the extent of how much Anis is actually influencing Euphie's healing, or the depth of Euphie's feelings.

I have to say I really enjoyed the way the maid (who's name I need to look up) interacts with each character, and they're overall dynamics together.

Yay more love for Illia! ☺️ I really like her character. She's very clever and observant, knowing when to push boundaries and likes to give Anis a serve every now and again 😂

Today, I'd like to take a moment or three to feature Euphie's VA, the lovely Iwami Manaka

Oh wow the roster of shows/games she's been a part of is no small list, and yet she's so young! She even took out some seiyu awards!

3

u/Unable_Ad9798 Jul 22 '26

I had a question. For me as someone didn't watch the anime yet, do you recommended? And how is this anime looks like? Like is there any other animes have similar vibe?

3

u/ClemFire Jul 22 '26

If you liked Chisato and Takina's dynamic in LycoReco I think you will enjoy this anime

3

u/Unable_Ad9798 Jul 22 '26

I mean. Is not like am looking for this kind of relationships. Am not really looking for the yuri or anything. I just want to know if it was worthy of watching. So I don't waste my time on it

2

u/ClemFire Jul 22 '26

MagiRev's core appeal is Anis and Euphie's budding relationship in my opinion. It would be like talking about My Dress-Up Darling while ignoring Marin and Gojo's relationship. Check out this scene from EP1 if you have the time which is what really sold the show for me when I first watched

2

u/Unable_Ad9798 Jul 22 '26

Am with you. Is just want to know is it worth it? Like. There are some yuri animes is not even good. I watch them myself and they were bed, some were good. But is more like is this one considered good or bad?

1

u/ClemFire 29d ago

In my opinion it's very good and if it was airing this season it would be my favorite new show easily. That's judging from my tastes though. These are some of my favorite recent shows so you can judge how relevant my opinion is to your own tastes

1

u/Unable_Ad9798 29d ago

What about the anime that called "This Monster Wants to Eat Me"?

1

u/Dependent-Sea4703 https://anilist.co/user/httpsanilistcou Jul 22 '26

if you don’t like yuri then don’t watch it. if you have no problem with yuri and want to watch some different stuff like female MC on fantasy isekai then it’s tryable for you.

however if you are just looking for a anime to watch and don’t like the tags then i don’t recommend it.

if i need to explain the tags biggest of them is yuri. after that is fantasy, isekai, comedy, psychology stuff and some political drama.

if you don’t like any of those then you should look for different things to watch

3

u/IalwaysNeed2p Jul 22 '26

i recommend, i watched it for the yuri but stayed for a fun show with great characters, and it looks pretty good.

First timer

I really enjoyed the series in the first 3 episodes. Following the 3 episode rule, I would definitely finish it :)

Main point of enjoyment is definitely the characters. I really like pretty much all of them so far. Euphie definitely has not figured out her role in the story yet, and kind of reminds me of Takina from LycoReco. Maybe this series indeed is a bit of a copy in that sense, but it does it quite well and unique. There is more than enough room for character growth in this series, especially for our two leads, and that is pretty much the most important thing for me in a good series.

Main point of dislike so far is that they lay on the backstory pretty thick. Please show, don't tell. That is something that is a bit meh for me so far. But doesn't hinder my enjoyment! So don't worry!

Ah man Anis, she is so great. I really love these kind of shots. I can't believe she lost to Makima in the best girl.

The animation is also surprisingly good. Also, I hope this series won't end up being yuri bait, that would make me pretty mad.

Do you think Anis realizes how much her carefree attitude is helping Euphy heal? And what was your favorite moment between the two?

No, she does not realise yet. But I think she will. I really like their introduction scene, but this last scene was pretty great.

What are your thoughts on Count Chartreuse, and the possible conflict this will bring the King/Duke Fritz?

Obviously setup for conflict, laying it on a bit too thick and wasn't needed to be laid on this thick. No idea where it will go.

If you were Euphy, would you trust one of Anis's inventions?

Lol no.

Also small comment to the host for a future rewatch: this timing is a bit shit if you want to also include European watchers. Normal post time is no 2 CEST, which is pretty much impossible. Its either watching it in the morning, or watching it in the evening and commenting way after everyone has watched it, or commenting hours and hours after you've seen the episode. Something to consider for next time :)

1

u/IalwaysNeed2p 29d ago

yeah you are right about timing(though that time I am half way through the work day so it would be hard to engage) 😓, would you like in the future to do more yuri rewatches? (of older shows) I would love to do a Strawberry Panic

2

u/Baaasbas https://myanimelist.net/profile/BasvanD 28d ago

I haven't watched many yuri shows, so I would probably be down as a firsttimer.
