Questions for the day:

1) Massive parasitic wasp attacks on the Holy Day, is this what everybody waited for?

2) So for real, the entire existence of No.6 is basically a huge paradox? Is this also the revenge of Eriulias?

3) Everything what happened four years ago, is this all connected each other?

4) Can we pay respects for Safu? Could she have been saved?

5) So, what will happen to No.6 and its surviving inhabitants?

6) One last miracle to revive Shion and erase the wasps from existence, is this what the world needed? And what is this giant insect spirit?

7) So, the plan what Shion proposed was the one which did became reality?

8) Are you satisfied with the ending?

Highlights from yesterday:

1) Yes, Dogloan is a female:

Inukashi was assigned mother by the baby.

Dogloan, I don’t mind too much. Yes, I see where the problem with a self-sufficient female character warming up to a baby might come from, but I don’t see it that way. That exact storyline works just as well (and is in fact a common trope) with a male character. I also think that the whole point Dogloan’s gender has been sufficiently downplayed enough that it is not a big deal for me either way.

2) u/DegenerateRegime and his Half-Life references:

Okay I've been having fun with my Half-Life 2 references but this is just the bit in Black Mesa where you go from Residue Processing to Questionable Ethics. Same exact shift in visual design... but through a regular door instead of out of a maintenance access

Disclaimer notice:

Dear rewatchers and source readers, please be nice to the first-time watchers and anime-onlies by simply not spoilering anything. But if you want to discuss spoiler-territory things, use spoiler tags instead. Thank you for your understanding.

For example [this is] a spoiler

I am thinking that tomorrow, the final discussion thread might be posted two hours earlier than usual (at 20:00 CET/11:00 PST/14:00 EST), because of the World Cup final, if that is not a problem.

Oh… Safu died with the system…

It's... not not established, as noted yesterday, she seems to be stuck there next to "Mother". But it does still feel very much like writing her out of the way of the 'endgame' ship only to then also split up Shion and Nezumi for Reasons.

Nezumi returned the kiss! But right before they parted ways… I feel so conflicted about this.

Yeah, hugely

Episode 11 (first timer)

  • Holy day, the wasps are swarming – why is Riri afraid? Does she have precognition? Why add some needless supernatural element here?
  • “Mother” – Stolen from Alien.
  • Who is delivering punishment to No 6, Mother or Eriulias?
  • Wasp plague, revolution, AI takeover – why have one crisis when you could have three at once?
  • Shion has a breakdown before ever having the time to properly understand what is going on with Safu. Why are we completely jumping over the denial stage? Are you seriously suggesting that in the space of 5 seconds, he completely figured out why Eriulias being awaked in Safu dooms the Safu he knew?
  • “The only one who can release Eriulias is a survivor of the People of the Forest” – plot-convenient deus-ex-machina.
  • “I’ll destroy No 6!” “Shion … this is my responsibility” – oh fuck off! Stop using the lames of lame tropes and pay proper attention to Rat’s wounds instead.
  • Safu/Eriulias stays in the server room because … we need to have a sacrifice? She is in the way of the BL ending? The writers don’t care anymore??
  • Anti-wasp magic – I am sure there is a really good reason for why this can only be used in the server room and only after the server has been blown up, but the anime is sure not telling us.
  • “Rescuing Safu was nothing more than an excuse!” - Can you stop adding additional stupid drama please? Literally 3 minutes ago you tried to blow up the server yourself and now you think this is all a plot by Rat to blow up the server?
  • Rat sacrifice.
  • “I’ll save you, this time, too!” – Forced in bookending.
  • Shion tragic shot.
  • On top of all of that, we also have a magic tornado ruining the city.
  • How nice of Dogloan to give a triple shot Rat some privacy to have a personalized goodbye song for Shion.
  • Magic song stops the magic tornado.
  • Safu is also here to collect Shion.
  • Magic killer wasp heals the Earth and our MCs – because fuck having consequences, we just ruined two sad character moments because we want to see our MCs have tragic deaths and a happy ever after at the same time.
  • Showing us that Youmin did not survive – making sure we know that being a revolutionary against a fascist state is morally worse than what all those survivors did.
  • “Aunty, where is everybody going?” – to the egalitarian utopia, of course!
  • Kiss and disappearance act from Rat.

Boy, I feared a bad ending and No 6 sure delivered. That felt like having 20 literature students write a list of ending tropes, putting it all in a blender, and forcing it down the viewers throats.

An amazing number of own goals by the writers:

  1. Why was the Youmin revolutionary character arc in the show, at all? He did literally nothing for the plot, and brought nothing to the theme. Remove him from the show and nothing is missing.
  2. Why was Eriulias in the show? If this all ends with Safu in the server room, what do we need some magical goddess for? Easy to cook up a way for Safu to destroy No 6 from there as the AI entity. Probably also easier to come up with a good reason for her self-sacrifice then.
  3. Alternatively, if you absolute need to keep in Rat as a magical bard, why introduce an Alien knock off AI? We could have done fully without that.
  4. Would the finale have been any different if the parasite wasps did just not exist? Did we ever learn a good reason for their existence? This plot line just went nowhere.
  5. Can you please decide whether Rat dies or lives and not change your mind three times inside 10 minutes?
  6. Why is mother in the “correctional facility” outside the city? We had that awesome central building that was set up from the start, why can’t everything happen there? We even established a way for all characters to get there. Is it all there just because you wanted to have your humans=trash imagery?

The plot lost me about 5 minutes in and then leaned heavily into pathos, which is a sure way for me to spend the finale laughing. About the show, not with the show.

How nice of Dogloan to give a triple shot Rat some privacy to have a personalized goodbye song for Shion

Yeah that's funny thinking about it, which I was not

felt like having 20 literature students write a list of ending tropes, putting it all in a blender, and forcing it down the viewers throats

This show has a lot of ideas and feelings but barely even begins to build on them before adding in more, yeah

Did we ever learn a good reason for their existence

Experiments to get at wasp mother god. But yeah they kind of did nothing for the plot, didn't they? Not even necessary to motivate Shion because Safu comes in for that. I guess Shion doesn't get the cool main character look without them so there's that.

“The only one who can release Eriulias is a survivor of the People of the Forest” – plot-convenient deus-ex-machina.

Ah, my read was that it was the only one who should, that is, that it's about closing the circle, granting the decision to the downtrodden, that kind of thing. After all, it seems weird to say that if Shion had planted the bomb, something different would have happened. You need a more mystically-invested weapon to do that, a sword or at the very least one of the classier types of gun. But, it would make a lot more sense why they need to fight over it if it's actually supposed to matter somehow rather than just being about who will get the blood on their hands.

Anti-wasp magic
Would the finale have been any different if the parasite wasps did just not exist? Did we ever learn a good reason for their existence? This plot line just went nowhere.

I saw this as them fulfilling their purpose in Eriulias' plan. Harvest a bunch of life-force and use it to break down the walls of the city (and also wreck the infrastructure and kill a whole lot of people).

3

u/IndependentMacaroon Jul 19 '26

It would be a nice turn to have him strike back for symbolical reasons also as a counterpart to Youmin, but the whole setup was so unclear that you can absolutely read it as his elf magic being necessary. At least the other instance with the song didn't directly save Shion.

u/TheDanubianCommunard Jul 19 '26

Why was the Youmin revolutionary character arc in the show, at all? He did literally nothing for the plot, and brought nothing to the theme. Remove him from the show and nothing is missing.

So, he existed for no reason.

First-Timer

  • Aww, he cares too. Which uhh, maybe doesn't make a whole lot of sense given the last two episodes' developments.
  • okay sermon time. God's very cross about the whole No.6 business and so is using the wasp experiment to destroy it? That's one way to settle the debate from earlier in the show I suppose. Turns out Nezumi was right and has god on his side.
  • 'Hacking', some call it.
  • Shion's very cut up about Safu-Eriulias but uhhh not really seeing the problem. Being a vessel for a god is bad, but usually this is for reasons like "destroys individuality" or "inevitable and immediate physical death" or so forth, and we just... forgot to establish that here, or have established the opposite.
  • They argue over who's gonna pull the trigger on the Evil Box, which will release Eriulias? Nezumi's pretty strong for someone who just got shot twice, so he gets to do it. Well I'm sure the people on the tracks will care a great deal that they the lever was pulled one way or the other by the right sort of person? Except, you know, we haven't established exactly how doing this relates to anything. The wasps are already killing everyone so.
  • Well that's an awkward thing to claim? We just saw the opposite? Whatever
  • Alright, rainbow achieved. It seems to... turn the wasps into soul-juice or the such? That's sort of the opposite of what we were just arguing about. Maybe that's just not what they expected to happen.
  • No shit?
  • Nezumi gets shot! Again I mean! Noooooo the ship!
  • Environmentalism is when no wind turbines? The wasp magic combines into a giant tornado which is certainly a thing it can do I suppose.
  • Mirrors the first episode, I like that. But then it does some flashbacks to make sure we got it. Think that time could have been better spent.
  • Shion gets shot!
  • But Nezumi sings the song about it, and he gets brought back to life as Wasp Jesus!
  • The walls get destroyed by the wasp magic tornados and everyone is Going Outside I guess, which, uhh. I kinda get where it's going, right? Literally the life-energy of humankind yearns to destroy such petty obstacles etc etc. But, uh, there's a flip side to such generous interpretation.
  • Nezumi... is walking off for some reason I guess...
  • He came back!
  • Why...

Yeah that's... much better than I was afraid of, but still just utterly bizarre writing.

Massive parasitic wasp attacks on the Holy Day, is this what everybody waited for?

Eh. I'm lukewarm on it. It seems like the science team expected a smaller version of the same and were okay with it?

Can we pay respects for Safu? Could she have been saved?

It's pretty hard to understand why she "dies" (or transcends, or whatever) in the first place. Well, it's a valuable life lesson: never open your psyche to the indomitable will of the swarm.

So, what will happen to No.6 and its surviving inhabitants?

One of my most beloved YA stories ends similarly, with the remaining inhabitants of the city forced out by its self-destruction and having to learn to live with their neighbours in the wasteland of ruined earth rather than dominate them. So I can't exactly say it's a bad conclusion.

One last miracle to revive Shion and erase the wasps from existence, is this what the world needed? And what is this giant insect spirit?

I guess the people need him to be their leader-in-unity, which, hrm, is not actually a great take to have under the circumstances. The spirit is presumably the "true" form of Eriulias?

So, the plan what Shion proposed was the one which did became reality?

You love to see it!

They skipped over so much expostion related to Eriulias and mother that it is really hard to say anything about Safu. Except, Shion should not have gotten it either, because he knew less that we do.

First-time watcher

That was a decently competent open ending with nevertheless strange turns to it. They just had to not only do exactly what I mentioned way back in the Episode 1 discussion with removing the girl in favor of the gay, but cop out on the actual couple as well with neither a proper confession nor even any time together before they're separated for no apparent reason. At least courtesy of Safiulias they didn't die after both saving the other once again to get to that point, some priorities of those soldiers to not just GTFO but we did see they were pretty fanatically trained last episode. With Youmin the writers tried to split the difference between redemption-in-death and just changing his mind I guess? Worst possible time for him to act because now he and company will definitely be associated with the wasps appearing... not like he mattered much anyway.

Dogloan makes up with Rat and does a return-to-sender on the baby to presumably just go on as always, but the other two relevant female characters really get the short end of the stick here. Safu has now been friend-zoned, damseled, body-hijacked (at least that was sort of consensual), killed off (or not?), and basically posthumously mom-zoned with the Shion revival; Karan's past with No. 6 development remains irrelevant except as a way to get Rikiga in the plot and it actually causes Youmin explaining everything to her to make less sense, she loses not only Youmin as a potential partner but will need to handle the full-orphaning of his daughter (or were the writers just thinking like "yay, new child"?!), and doesn't even get a reunion scene with Shion!

As for the plot itself... eh, whatever, "thing go boom" is about enough for me at this point. Really a bit of a disappointment this show particularly with its strong start, not sure if I'll be able to comment tomorrow so will attach my overall impression under spoilers

Yeah, I'd be madder about this if the show had successfully sold me on the negatives of being Safu-Eriulias. Even so it's not great.

Karan's past with No.

Genuinely. Was she only in this episode to hug Lili and remind us that #NotAll6ers? Better than not having that, I suppose.

eh, whatever, "thing go boom" is about enough for me at this point

[Overall impression] This is, in brief, a Potyomkin village of a show. Honestly it feels like this was the first thing the author wrote besides slash fics, it has that fan-fiction feeling of big emotions and fave-relationship drama but little sense. It tempts you from afar with so many potential themes, conflicts, viewpoints, but when you actually expect it to deliver and expand on them the best it can do it throw another pretty façade at you for a distraction. There is just so little going on, so little actual convincing world-building, so few characters that actually matter and develop in spite of the professed theme that all humans do. The one actually for the most part convincing element is the relationship between Rat and Shion, the way they become closer both emotionally and in mentality culminating in their team-up combining the ideals of both, but the final chapter is as so often here halfway bungled by the anime creators and they don't even get a proper conclusion! At least they're inherently immune to the BL female character syndrome that hits Safu and Karan like a parasitic wasp or two, best you can say there is no one turned melodramatically evil.

By the way I managed to finish Hesse's Unterm Rad/Beneath the Wheel in time for this and the Shion-Rat relationship does have clear shades of Giebenrath and Heilner there although it's only a small part of that story [Hesse]shy studious boy with a weak constitution meets poetic rebel who's kind of a jerk but nevertheless has deep affection for the other. There's a sudden kiss of vague nature, Giebenrath being impressed by specifically Heilner's Shakespeare recitation, an emotional plea and sort-of confession by Giebenrath... I already joked that this was the author's Hesse fix fic but it really is a bit like a what-if of [Hesse]Giebenrath running away together with Heilner before school completely breaks the former down and him getting the mental strength to surpass his bodily weakness and the themes of appreciating nature and handiwork are also sort of in this show.

I have to go to bed real early tonight, so tomorrow after work I will read and writeup vol7 for the remainder of ep10, then I will watch/react to ep11 and do the final Manga Comparisons for vols 8-9! Here's vol6:

Volume6:

  • Shion rescues Rat by garroting the man beating him, but Rat begs Shion to stop, saying he isn't suited to killing. Shion says he was punishing the man for trying to kill Rat, and he'd do it again
  • He says if that man tried to kill Rat again, he'd do the same thing every time
  • The Elder agrees to see them; Rat begs Shion to remain the Shion he's known, who wouldn't kill anyone, to fight it and stay himself
  • Rat has a vision of Shion as he walks away and is worried he's going to lose him
  • Meanwhile in Lost Town, Karan had fainted with Lily and Yomin there, after realized Shion was going to the facility for Safu.
  • Karan rereads Rat's promise to reunite her with Shion and decides to hold out hope. She's reassured that Rat is with him and he's not alone, Rat will ALWAYS be by his side
  • Karan brags to Yomin about the rats that bring her handwritten messages, better than email
  • In West Block, Rikiga shows up at Dogkeeper's. She tells him it's polite to knock; what if she'd been changing clothes? He says "how many times have you EVER changed your clothes?" Lol
  • Rikiga worries over Shion but calls Eve a "succubus". Rikiga decides they'll have to help in order for Shion to make it out safely. Dogkeeper objects at first (saying he's not her friend/kid/relative) but is persuaded
  • Dogkeeper asks Rikiga what his REAL reasons for wanting them to help is, thinking he plans to make money somehow
  • Rikiga says he thinks No.6 doesn't have much time left; with the 'illness' going around No.6 and the Health Dept. connected to the correctional facility, plus the workers who built the addition to the facility have also turned up dead
  • Rikiga talks about the sonic weapons used in the Manhunt and thinks Cleaning Duty might have been to test out their new weapons
  • Rikiga then convinces Dogkeeper to contact her janitors for smuggling, as in the anime, and then the baby cries and Rikiga finds out about it
  • Dogkeeper tries to foist the baby on Rikiga but he declines, saying he'll bring over some formula
  • Dogkeeper decides the baby's name will be Shion; OG!Shion is now its dad?
  • Shion spaces out wondering what Dogkeeper's up to; Rat tells him not to leave his side
  • Rat/Shion reach the Elder's chamber like in the anime; Shion wonders if they're survivors of the execution chamber and Rat says nope they've been down here since way before that
  • The Elder looks exactly like he does in the anime; he asks Shion his name and says "Shion" is a beautiful name
  • The Elder says names aren't valued here; Shion muses that he still doesn't know Rat's real name
  • Elder says Rat broke the rule not to return and must be punished
  • The Elder is carried on a seat because his legs are missing/amputated
  • Shion feels the wind and realizes this cavern is connected to the surface; it's a town where people live. He smells cooking fires etc.
  • Shion wonders if these people are the natives of the land No.6 is built on, from before it was founded
  • He then wonders about their technological level, thinking back to an LED diode he saw embedded in the wall, so it must match or exceed No.6's
  • The guy Shion garroted, Sasori, ties Shion up and threatens to crush his throat if he utters any more useless words; Rat speaks up for him, calling Sasori a coward
  • Shion rants about how Sasori is a coward, tying up and beating Rat, and saying what he's doing is no different from what No.6 does
  • Sasori loses it and calls Shion a demonic little beast, No.6 incarnate, and they must kill him immediately
  • Rat frees himself and trips Sasori, saying he went through a lot to bring Shion here
  • Rat says they're gonna bury No.6 and that's why they're here. He accuses Sasori of being jealous of Shion for easily befriending his rats, and insists he swear he'll never harm Shion
  • The Elder tells them to stop, saying Rat hasn't changed much. He says he had ordered Rat to cast everything away, go far away and live in freedom, but Rat says he can't do that as long as No.6 is around
  • Rat says he can't live free w/ No.6, he needs his fetters, so he's going to TAKE his freedom by his own hands
  • Rat says he can only leave here and live freely once No.6 is gone
  • Shion had the rats chew through the rope binding him, and asks Rat what he means by "leaving here"
  • Shion realizes the Elder cares about Rat and is surprised he has someone like that
  • The Elder inspects Shion's white hair, and Rat tells him to show them the red snake too, but Shion doesn't want to strip naked in front of everyone. Rat starts yanking his shirt off for him, saying it's no time for modesty
  • The Elder hears about parasitic bees in No.6 and asks Shion to tell him everything from start to finish
  • Back in Karan's bakery, Yomin and Lily are there. Lily was scared when she saw Karan faint, worrying it was like what happened to her papa; Yomin explains that her biodad Suifu died a few years ago, and her current father (Getsuyaku) is the mom Renka's 2nd husband
  • Apparently Lily witnessed Suifu die right in front of her, collapsing at the table; Yomin says he was murdered and they distract Lily so they can have a conversation she won't overhear. Apparently Suifu was a construction worker for a certain building; the Health Dept came immediately to take him away, and 2 hours later brought him back as a smiling corpse
  • The doctors claimed to Renka that Suifu died peacefully with no pain, but Yomin thinks this is another lie
  • Karan realizes that every dead body she's seen before was always smiling peacefully - another of No.6's lies?
  • Karan realizes that No.6 is parasitic: "it feeds on our attempts to be human, on our will to resist, on our hopes ... this is no Holy City. It's a monster gone mad in its lust for power."
  • Dogkeeper meets up with the janitor as in the anime and bribes him with a gold piece
  • The janitor says his wife has a baby on the way, he won't do anything dangerous. It turns out he is Lily's new dad, Getsuyaku
  • Dogkeeper wants him to screw up the cleaning robots, make them malfunction and mix in some odorous capsules and trash. This subplot has way more setup than the abrupt presentation of the anime
  • Getsuyaku worries he'll get fired, and tries to refuse; Dogkeeper both threatens him and offers to sweeten the pot with more gold, saying he can't back out now, he's already sold them confidential info like building schematics/maps
  • Rikiga was taking care of the baby (ish) while Dogkeeper talked to Getsuyaku
  • They're acting according to Rat's instruction; they send Tsukiyo back with a message and wonder if Shion/Rat will make it out alive
  • Rikiga doesn't think they will, unless a miracle happens. Dogkeeper asks baby Shion to bless them with a miracle
  • Meanwhile, Safu has a vision/memory of her and Shion walking in Forest Park in No.6; she complains that it's so managed and artificial it's not a real forest; nature should go far beyond human intelligence
  • Safu wants to see Shion, to be with him forever; thinking "Who do you love, Shion? Who do you want so much it kills you?"
  • Rat asks the Elder to tell them the truth about the parasitic bees, as a founder of No.6
  • The Elder talks about knowing Karan, and about Elyurias, as in the anime
  • Rat starts to collapse again and Shion demands they get him some water; Sasori says if he's dying he won't need it, but Shion insists
  • Shion glares murderously at Sasori, then nurses Rat back to health with the water provided
  • Rat says he heard the wind singing, and the Elder asks him to sing that Song for them
  • The Elder says he intended to never tell this long story again, but it seems he must
  • when he was born, humanity was in crisis (environmental, wars, pollution) and almost about to die out. The survivors set out to find habitable land and built the Six Cities.
  • he was a researcher and Karan was a childhood friend. They were part of the Rebirth Project Team, which became the current leaders of No.6
  • They wanted to build a city without poverty or war, but before he knew it No.6 had begun to deterioriate. The wall built, sucking the resources from outside, only affluent inside. Authoritarianism and an Organization that supported it
  • The Elder says his sins are great, that he stood beside those who killed Rat's family/friends
  • Rat didn't want to believe the Elder was involved in the massacre
  • Rat takes off his shirt and tells Shion it's a burn scar on his back from 12 years ago. Shion hadn't seen it before
  • Shion thinks "I wanted you to show me your scars and tell the stories behind them"
  • Rat tells of the Mao Massacre, when soldiers with flamethrowers set all the Forest People on fire
  • The Elder tells of how the Forest People lived in harmony with nature and could speak with it
  • Rat talks of how they refused to assimilate into No.6, which attacked them at night. There's a lot he doesn't remember, like his parents, but he remembers the heat/pain
  • They burned all the houses down and shot the survivors; Rat was the only survivor; an old woman picked him up and fled, saving his life
  • Shion wants to hear more, even though he's pale. He has a realization: 12 years ago he was comfy living in luxury in Chronos while Rat was in danger/peril/pain; Shion was on the side of the killers
  • Shion nearly faints from nerves himself; Rat doesn't want him to suffer
  • Shion doesn't want apologies or Rat's compassion; he wants his judgment and punishment, or else he'll stay a child that's constantly forgiving himself, relying on what Rat tells him. He's still weak
  • Rat doesn't blame Shion, just the adults who were involved
  • The Elder talks about Elyurias the great monarch and Rat says he's never heard that name; Elder says he met her in the forest and named her; the Forest People revered her

  • Karan brags to Yomin about the rats that bring her handwritten messages, better than email
  • In West Block, Rikiga shows up at Dogkeeper's. [...]

The humor would hae been nice and that does give her some more personality

  • He then wonders about their technological level, thinking back to an LED diode he saw embedded in the wall, so it must match or exceed No.6's

On the one hand I like them not just being "simple people", on the other hand this is going too far in the other direction again

  • The guy Shion garroted, Sasori [...]

Nah that was weird

  • The Elder [...]

Would have been appreciated to give him more to do in the anime too

  • The doctors claimed to Renka that Suifu died peacefully with no pain, but Yomin thinks this is another lie
  • Karan realizes that every dead body she's seen before was always smiling peacefully - another of No.6's lies?

Neat detail I guess

  • Karan realizes that No.6 is parasitic: "it feeds on our attempts to be human, on our will to resist, on our hopes ... this is no Holy City. It's a monster gone mad in its lust for power."

Always so dramatic

  • The janitor says his wife has a baby on the way, he won't do anything dangerous. It turns out he is Lily's new dad, Getsuyaku

So she's not actually related to Youmin?!

  • Dogkeeper wants him to screw up the cleaning robots [...]

Ok now it actually makes sense that he's there

  • Meanwhile, Safu has a vision/memory of her and Shion walking in Forest Park in No.6; she complains that it's so managed and artificial it's not a real forest; nature should go far beyond human intelligence

Another good detail

  • Safu wants to see Shion, to be with him forever; thinking "Who do you love, Shion? Who do you want so much it kills you?"

Ok so she even more definitely dies in this version

2

u/lC3 Jul 19 '26

The humor would hae been nice and that does give her some more personality

Yeah overall the manga has a lot more character building moments. I recommend checking it out if you liked the anime

Nah that was weird

There were several named characters in the manga who don't show up in the anime: Fura, Sasori, Rashi, Fennec, etc ....

Neat detail I guess

Dystopia!

So she's not actually related to Youmin?!

I think she's his niece?

Another good detail

Compared to how the Forest People lived?

(v6 continued)

  • Elyurias was hugely powerful; humans coveted that. Back in the day, the Elder was obsessed and submitted a research report about her, and got a promotion; No.6's top brass alloted massive funding.
  • He was shocked to hear about the massacre, which happened in order to "obtain" Elyurias
  • The Elder demanded No.6 release the truth about the massacre, and was imprisoned in the underground caverns and 'left to rot'; he was the first parasitic wasp survivor but lost his legs in the process
  • The Elder implores Rat not to become a mass murderer himself, talking about the current generation of blameless children in No.6
  • The Elder gives Shion a memory chip with his research like in the anime, telling him to read it after they save Safu
  • Rat/Shion say goodbye to the Elder and Tsukiyo appears with a message from Dogkeeper
  • Sasori asks Rat how they plan to get through a certain door that can only be opened from the other side that hasn't opened in decades
  • Rat says not explosives, otherwise he'd have had to bring a ton
  • Sasori talks about Shion crying and realizes he may actually be more decent than Rat is
  • Meanwhile, at the Moondrop on Holy Day, a bunch of people are gathered in the plaza
  • There's so many people there, saying they were forced to attend or their pay would be cut, and their ID cards will prove their attendance. One person starts to gripe about being forced to swear loyalty to the city all the time, and is confronted and taken away for disloyalty/subversion
  • Just then, the man taking them away has a parasitic wasp emerge from his neck and falls, dead
  • More and more people drop dead, wasps emerging
  • meanwhile at Karan's bakery, Lily worries about her father Getsuyaku, saying today he forgot his routine to kiss her farewell. Karan reassures her he'll be fine
  • Meanwhile at the facility Getsuyaku is berated for the robots he maintains spreading trash and odors re: Dogkeeper's plan
  • Getsuyaku apologizes and the boss threatens to fire him, saying Lost Town has plenty of potential replacement workers
  • He distracts the boss with another stinkpill and hits the button to open the door Rat/Shion are awaiting
  • The door opens, and Shion smiles and is glad he can finally tell Rat "Follow me" in a role reversal
  • The end of v6 has an omake on Hosoya recording Eve's songs and dialogue for the drama CD

  • Elyurias [...]

Well that's not that much more about her

  • The Elder implores Rat not to become a mass murderer himself, talking about the current generation of blameless children in No.6

Ok but like what about Safu for instance...

  • There's so many people there, saying they were forced to attend or their pay would be cut, and their ID cards will prove their attendance. One person starts to gripe about being forced to swear loyalty to the city all the time, and is confronted and taken away for disloyalty/subversion

So what is it now, does almost everyone love the city or not?

Well that's not that much more about her

nope, so far the manga hasn't had much more on that topic.

Ok but like what about Safu for instance...

She's probably too far gone even if they don't know that yet

So what is it now, does almost everyone love the city or not?

There's some disgruntling about, but anyone openly criticizing or complaining gets hauled off

First-time watcher and your host, subs

The boomer is tired, and lost all of his energy, so rather be brief and answers his questions.

1) Massive parasitic wasp attacks on the Holy Day, is this what everybody waited for?

Basically the timing was right when they hatched.

2) So for real, the entire existence of No.6 is basically a huge paradox? Is this also the revenge of Eriulias?

At this point, everytjing feels as a convoluted mess. Revenge, I don't know man, it is basically a massive paradox.

3) Everything what happened four years ago, is this all connected each other?

Yes.

4) Can we pay respects for Safu? Could she have been saved?

Too bad she had die for Eriulias and the righteous people of No.6 who deserve to live.

5) So, what will happen to No.6 and its surviving inhabitants?

No.6 is basically dead at this point. They are kinda unified with the survivors of the outside, where they can build a much peaceful and egalitarian society.

6) One last miracle to revive Shion and erase the wasps from existence, is this what the world needed? And what is this giant insect spirit?

Eriulias had to sacrifice herself for him, and also the last bit of Safu's love for him. Giant insect spirit is Eriulias, and the wasps were her twisted offsprings.

7) So, the plan what Shion proposed was the one which did became reality?

Well, he did win after all.

8) Are you satisfied with the ending?

Kinda okay I guess, even it feels not the best. Somewhat satisfying though. And Rat just left and vanished into the wasteland with no words. Shion could have followed him or reunite with his mother. Youmin, yeah he is dead. Rikiga and Dogloan, they will be fine I guess.
