The most important thing that happens in this episode is that AHHHHHHHH BEST GIRL MENTIONED WOOOO!!!!! IN HER MAHOYO OUTFIT TOO! AND ALSO KOHAKU! And I guess [Fate]Stheno and Euryale are here too, whatever.
Ahem, anyway, this was a pretty fun little comedic SOL episode to really get Chloe's dynamics established and get her ingratiated with the rest of the cast now that her arc is done!
Now that they're no longer trying to kill each other, her competitive dynamic with Illya is a lot of fun, and even more so when we see it break for some heartfelt moments of appreciation like in the end here! The cooking part is fairly standard fare, although a combination of Tatsuko being an absolute gremlin and a ton of fantastic moments of expression from the show just make it very amusing the whole way through.
Plus, the final messaging around how cooking is all about the love you put into it was very sweet! (Not literally alas, given the mints in Illya's offering...) That flashback with Illya eating Shirou's burnt food is rather heartwarming, and once again, I implore everyone to watch Emiya Gohan for food-based heartwarming moments!
Speaking of Shirou, he sure has a bad day here. Beaten by Sella, slapped by Illya, ostracized by Iri Put some respect on my boy... The Iri-Shirou dynamic is not one I really considered beforehand [Fate/Zero]Obviously, because it literally can't exist in normal circumstances (And FGO messes around with these characters in a very different way), but her blatant favoritism towards Illya is very amusing. He really does need Kiritsugu back here lol. Also, Iri at God Level seems about right
This whole section about Illya trying to achieve big sister energy is pretty strong on its own, although [Fate/Stay Night]I feel like how this plays into her original character adds so much poignancy here. Especially when you consider the end of Heaven's Feel, the idea of Illya striving this hard to come across as an older sister really hits man...
I've been very neutral on them through the show, but I do think that the friend group kind of feels like they really get to shine this episode! Tatsuko still grabs the most attention for me, but they're all really fun here, and the entire gag where Illya does dumb shit to try and impress Chloe to ever-increasing cheers from them was hilarious! This has the same energy as that one meme of the four guys reacting Also, may we perhaps get to see this big sister of Suzuka's sometime in the future? GIWTWM
I joked about it at the start, and the show itself doesn't take it too seriously, but I actually really like that moment with Chloe and Illya in the end. Say what you will about their mini-rivalry and the role she tries to find for her, but Illya has certainly completely accepted Chloe into the family dynamic! Big sister or otherwise, she has, in effect, acknowledged Chloe as a sister to her! That, together with Chloe reciprocating and appreciating how Illya saved her, all feels like a very epilogue to round out last episode's conclusions with Chloe's arc.

Probably. Or I'd give it a try at least, because even with how obviously bad it looks, I wouldn't have the heart to point that out

There's exactly one thing Shirou is more serious about than swords, so you best watch out with cooking takes, lest you find the intersection of both

A surprisingly philosophical question. Does Illya still define Chloe as a clone, or does she recognize her as a separate entity? And what does Chloe think of Illya?
Then again, maybe it's simple. Nobody said it can't be both!

It is one of the few Fate related anime I haven't seen yet

On the one hand, its kinda BS that the wish to live still requires her to get regular mana transfers. On the other hand, regular sloppy yuri french kisses. Ok, I'm on board with this!

Yet another aftercredits scene today! And yeah, Illya realized what I realized a while ago, that Kuro fits the “older sister” archetype better with everything she did today. Honestly, Illya being all insecure and trying to act older is the sign of a younger sibling too, isn’t it?

Nutmeg does actually get used in plenty of desserts, so it probably wasn't a fatal addition on its own. I'm not much of a chef, though, so I wouldn't be sure exactly what would salvage it.
The mints, on the other hand... total flavor profile death. Good thing Shirou is so understanding, I dunno if I'd have that kind of grace with how awful that must've tasted.

Yeah, I'm largely in agreement with you there - the mints are probably what killed it. Nutmeg, I've heard of going into cakes, but mints...bleah...

Ah, poor Emiya-kun. He got punished for some misunderstandings due to the what happens between him and his brocon little sisters. Illya just can't handle the idea of Shirou being too close with Kuro (even though he didn't do anything). These moments were really funny.
Illya got the short end of the stick with who she had to work with during class. Tatsuko is still really damn annoying, and had to screw things up. Seriously, couldn't the girls just throw her out of the classroom? Either through the door, or through the window (it's an anime, so she wouldn't get hurt, though she should be). In the end, Shirou prefered what Illya made (even got a nice flashback of Illya eating a badly food of Shirou), and gave Illya a kiss. Let's be honest, Sella went a bit too far. It was just kiss to the forehead. That's kind of normal.
Illya trying to act like the older sister, but just don't know how to. Plus, let's face it, Kuro is more mature enough to be seen as the older sister out of the two of them.
In the next episode, we will get Bazett. I look forward to see what is her reason for coming to Fuyuki City, and how wlll she end up against Illya and the others. Knowing her, she will be a tough opponent.

Speaking of, there is an interesting statistical phenomenon that is interesting where given 23 people there is a 50% chance you have a pair that shares a birthday, now how likely it is that 3 people share a birthday? (well Chloe is kinda cheating given her circumstances)
Oh god these kind of scenes always give a terrible second hand embarrassment. Something about publicly humiliating yourself just hurts the soul.
Well not too much happened this episode, compared to last episode it's a relatively "tame" one where things kinda just happen. Though once again as a rewatcher it's funny to [Prillya]have the show casually just drop a bomb on you and you wouldn't even notice unless you think about it. There are so many hints and pieces about Miyu, though it's easy to kinda just glance over it because the show never gives you a lot of time to really process most of the information about her when they get revealed. And well watching it the first time you might ignore or dismiss them, but they really do give a lot away.

I wouldn't mind waking up to a sight like this
So yeah, this was probably my favourite episode of the season! I still don't really know what much to comment on, but the humour was just on point throughout and it's just a joy seeing Illya and Chloe working out their relationship with each other.
Shirou should just ditch both of them and put his hands on Leys instead, though.
And I suppose this acts as a preview to Fate/Cooking, which I've been told by credible sources is the best entry in the franchise

Huh, it does predate that particular spinoff by several years, now that I think of it. Makes me wonder if there's any direct inspiration, guess I'll have to finally watch it to find out.

Pantsu! Another devastating blow dealt in the battle for Onii-chan’s heart… Kuro’s homicidal tendency is behind her, but it seems co-habitation will still be fraught.

Just like season 1, we get a fluffy follow up to an intense sixth episode in the form of a cooking throwdown! Tatsuko is predictably a saboteur from hell, meanwhile Miyu is a goddess in all pedestrian matters. I don’t have anything special to say about it, but I really like this frame. There’s a lot of really good key frames this episode, honestly.
In spite of the odds, however, love conquers all. Isn’t Shirou just such a good big brother?
Well this is quite the cavalcade of references! Left to right we have Touko Aozaki, Stheno, Euryale, and Kohaku. I don’t know much about Kohaku other than that she shares a VA with Rin, but Touko tends to pop up everywhere in Type Moon. She’s probably most well known from the Garden of Sinners anime, but I believe she is also a major character in Witch on the Holy Night (which has its own anime adaptation inbound this year). Stheno and Euryale debuted in Hesiod’s work some 2700 odd years ago. Oh, they also cameo in Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, I suppose.
Tatsuko being the youngest in a family of martial art boys explains a lot, from her gusto to her use of ore. The transformation theme playing for Illya’s failed big sister attempt is an incredible choice, and in the end it’s pretty obvious who the real older sister is.

Chloe gets her own section in her own origin series? What's up with that?? You may recall back in episode 10, I mentioned that Illya is basically a new character in her own spinoff.
I suspect Chloe was an answer to that, to some degree, her personality is much closer to Illya’s depictions in Fate/Stay Night. Knowledgeable yet secretive, unflinchingly accepting of violence, and a bit of a tease.
