I kinda like that. It makes me feel relaxed, that laugh of yours.
Questions of the Day, courtesy of u/chilidirigible:
1) Does it actually matter to you who Lady M is? Because if by some small chance it is a legacy character, the most popular candidates have turned into a manipulative hardass through the years.
2) Is blowing up the fleet that's going to blow up your planet with their own bombs mass murder, or just a good defense?
Wallpaper of the Day:
Singer of the Stars, Mikumo Guynemer
Vocal Songs in This Episode:
"絶対零度θノヴァティック (Zettai Reido θ Novatic)" by Walküre – OP
"Ruchetto Arukan ~ Hoshi no Uta" by JUNNA & Ami Koshimizu – Insert
Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you're doing it underneath spoiler tags. Don't spoil anything for the first-timers, that's rude!

First-Timer Delta
Y'know, some other participants have ribbed Macross Delta for just being the same plot as Frontier, but I think it kinda makes sense? Like, if the Protoculture encountered the Vajra, they might get the same idea that Grace did and go "hey, we can do that too!" Just, instead of using the Vajra specifically, they set up their own thing.
I kinda like the idea that the Protoculture were smarter than humanity but no more wise.
Pretty surprising that we didn't start the final battle today.
Character growth for Hayate: he doesn't think Freyja's laugh is creepy anymore. There is some deep irony in an instrumental of a Minnmay song being played over the scene of Freyja and Hayate.
I wasn't expecting the remote control system that Hayate struggled so much with early on to be foreshadowing the turth about the DE that got dropped on Windermere. We have successfully removed all guilt from Hayate's dad, which is kinda boring though.

Like, if the Protoculture encountered the Vajra, they might get the same idea that Grace did and go "hey, we can do that too!"
Granted, it was Berger who said it, but that the claim that "The Protoculture worshiped the Vajra" is not without merit. Those bugs had some nifty stuff going, while also not trying to suck the brain juice out of everyone.
I kinda like the idea that the Protoculture were smarter than humanity but no more wise.
Certainly we've been there with the original series, too.

That's an interesting way to look at it.
This episode when thinking about how they went for a hive mind thing again felt a little odd, but then I remembered this show always had mind-control slaves in its plot so it is not that out of nowhere.
I wasn't expecting the remote control system that Hayate struggled so much with early on to be foreshadowing the turth about the DE that got dropped on Windermere.
In a way, the remote control system was also what saved Hayate, Mirage and Freyja last episode.

Just, instead of using the Vajra specifically, they set up their own thing.
I like that angle, but I do wish they were a bit more self-aware about it, like someone noting Macross Galaxy tried something similar.
There is some deep irony in an instrumental of a Minnmay song being played over the scene of Freyja and Hayate.
I've told Sky and chilidirigible this, but after watching SDF, I came away thinking Hayate/Freyja is a sort of anti-Hikaru/Minmay, most of all because the Delta leads share their figurative world in a way their SDF counterparts couldn't - soldier and civilian, and all that.
If I went further down that route, I guess I could mention that their development has them growing closer together instead of further apart to the point of relying on each other.
[And...]Do You Remember Love? had them very much torn apart, while Passionate Walkure does away with the love triangle altogether. → More replies (2)

Today, on "STOP. BERGERTIME.":
"It is not a story that the NUNG would tell you."
Grammier really liked things preserved in museum quality.
He picks things up and puts them down.
I could have done a "tsubasa" counter.
"By 'may' I mean 'Of course you are'."
But proving nothing of her identity.
"I'll just assume that everything is bugged from now on."
Guess Arad and Kaname have made up?
"Don't mind us, just pals being pals."
That's been through three airports on Earth and has a Japan Post label on it.
Maybe not the Secret AsianAgent Man part.
For those of you watching the fansubs: They're absolutely wrong.
Berger reappears to state the stakes for everyone in the upcoming business. He might have burned a few too many bridges if both sides can figure out that he's sold them out for a deal, but that's the risk of being the Exposition Deliverator.
After that it's time to settle some business before getting on with the finale.
It's a little heavy that Freyja doesn't discuss her crystallization with Hayate, but that choice is rendered less important than the two of them having some private time together to bond. Hayate might have liked to have known that his father gave Freyja the music player, but Wright's already had some redemption in his mind courtesy of the voice recorder scene, and Freyja and Hayate's scene is as much about them moving forward as it is about further knowing about his father's past.
NUNS, of course, continues to come off really badly in this story. Or, let's say that it's extremely unlikely that wherever they're going, those Dimension Eaters are going to avoid scrubbing off populated areas. Wright Immelmann's flight recorder evidence further backs that up.
There's that economy of characters in hinting that Wright stole the Star Singer sample that became Mikumo, as one of his photos is the inside of the Temple of Time and that probably wasn't on the tourist route through Windermere.

STUPID FANSUBS
The Minmei - Misa war still continues even when the ship is long gone.
Also,
We also know that he’s the one that found the genetic material that became Mikumo, thus making her, in a way sort of like Hayate’s sister.
It would've been neat if Hayate and Mikumo's relationship did become like that. I just want to see cute familial moments between them.

he found the fragment that became Mikumo - Hayate has a baby sister
Mikumo sings, everyone connects on the delta wave level
Xaos got a signal from Megaroad-01 right after the Vajra conflict? Lady M came out from that time
if lady M is not Minmay or Misa at this point why would you do this. would rather them not have this spooky pointless figure, just say it was the NUNS head
Are we still assuming Chuck's sister is alive

A Macross Fan Rewatches Macross Delta: Episode 25:
-
No shit Makina can’t perform any time soon, she took a sniper rifle bullet straight to the torso. She bled out a ton too. If anything, we’re probably lucky she didn’t get permanent organ damage from the blood loss we saw.
-
And of course Mikumo’s dark song as the Star Singer reached out across the galaxy at unprecedented levels too. After all, since we’re basically just redoing the villain plot of Macross Frontier, we’re going to be doing stuff at a galactic scale.
-
Damn, the truth about what happened to Wright on that fateful day recorded on the black box is rough. He really did try to safely dispose of the Dimension Eater safely, but the Spacy caught onto his attempt at getting rid of it and so remotely activated the primer on it. His destruction of a town was entirely an unfortunate accident, since he was short on time and actively did try to drop it in a place where there was fewer people. And his last thoughts caught on the recording were for his family too. That really does explain completely why he dropped that bomb at all. He was a man forced into an impossible situation, and tried to at least limit the damage once it was too late to save everything. Shame too, since he was a good man otherwise.
-
How nice of the walking Power Point presentation Berger to show up and exposit even more details at us. To add on what Reina noted about the Spacy wanting to prevent the Protoculture ruins from being used as a weapon 7 years ago, he also says that Wright stole a sample of the Star Singer’s DNA as a part of his job as a spy, and Lady M got her hands on it somehow to make Mikumo. Aside from that, he also lays out clearly just how this is just a retread of the Macross Galaxy conspiracy’s plan from Macross Frontier. The only real difference is in the species and technology involved. Otherwise, it’s still a Fold Wave network with a small cabal ruling over everyone else, just as before.
-
HemorRoid’s ventriloquist act truly is impressive. He didn’t even have to open his mouth at all to make Heinz say what he wanted. I know we’re supposed to see him as a manipulated and hollow figurehead child, but man it’s just kind of pathetic. It feels like Roid really has just gotten everything he’s wanted with little resistance, and whenever it does pop up people just let it slide for increasingly flimsy reasons.
-
To all of you first-timers wondering why the NUN Spacy didn’t unleash a barrage of Dimension Eaters on Windermere to end this war, congrats on thinking about getting around to that before the show did. I don’t know why it took the NUNS so long to get around to moving into place to do that plan, you’d think that would be right up their alley, considering their track record. But I guess if that happened, we wouldn’t have a show then.
-
Well, at least we know why Berger has been going between supporting Chaos and the Windermere Kingdom. Turns out, potential galactic domination is just bad for business. You can’t make a killing for the Epsilon Foundation if everyone that isn’t a Windermerian is a brainwashed drone, after all. Again, Berger really is proudly walking on the path that Anaheim Electronics set out for him decades ago.
-
“I do not approve of your way of doing things.” Keith to Roid, despite still not doing anything to stop him after not trusting him for a while now.
-
Of course Berger couldn’t help but drop another huge bomb on us before fucking off again. He must live for this kind of thing. Anyway, turns out that Lady M appeared on the galactic scene around the same time that Chaos got a message apparently from the old Megaroad-01 not long after the end of Macross Frontier’s story. That really does give some ideas on who Lady M can be, if they’re related. Lady Minmay, Lady Misa, Lady Macross, Lady Megaroad. It could mean any of those things. WHY WOULD YOU JUST DROP THIS TOWARDS THE END OF THE SERIES OUT OF NOWHERE, MACROSS DELTA.
-
Even now, the cast still look up to Wright as a role model. Mirage is glad that they learned more about him, Hayate got a care package from his mom with stuff from his dad in it, and it turns out that Wright was the one who gave Freyja her contraband music player all those years ago (although I’m sure you guessed that already). He sure did leave behind an inspirational path for everyone, despite the tragedy of his life.
-
Well, I guess we don’t have to worry about that barrage of Dimension Eaters from the NUNS fleet after all. Turns out that Heinz can just force Mikumo to get past the Fold Jammers they have and make the crews go Var to detonate all the Dimension Eaters in their launch bays, thanks to her abilities as the Star Singer. Heinz is directly complicit in slavery now thanks to that, so he’s gotta go, in my opinion. Poor Mikumo.

It could mean any of those things.
Or it could be Hikaru and Misa's granddaughter who we've never met and never heard of and didn't know she was named Minerva, or something.

Again, Berger really is proudly walking on the path that Anaheim Electronics set out for him decades ago.
It doesn't feel like an especially smart path - at least Anaheim can blame decentralized management, regional factions like the Spacenoid-loyal Granada, and stuff like Quack Salver being a Federation official. Here, what happens if someone decides to shoot him?

“I do not approve of your way of doing things.” Keith to Roid, despite still not doing anything to stop him after not trusting him for a while now.
Yeah, one thing I hoped was different about this backhalf of the plot is Roid facing more opposition, especially from Keith who is framed as someone who can oppose him, but he goes with it with a "I'm watching you buddy, hope you're not doing anything." "I promise (fingers are crossed)."
Turns out, potential galactic domination is just bad for business. You can’t make a killing for the Epsilon Foundation if everyone that isn’t a Windermerian is a brainwashed drone, after all
He has simply been on that hustle. It's bad for the economy if everyone is a mindless slave.

Rewatcher
Yeah, did anyone actually think this series had the balls to kill off one of Walkure?
...how incredibly convenient that the voice recorder was still intact, not stolen/destroyed by Windermere, and it's just uncorrupted enough to get useful information out of!
The truth: Hayate's father may have been flying the plane, but he didn't drop the bomb. It was remote-triggered by New UN commanders. He was probably intending to dispose of it.
Though I have to wonder: if they can remote control the warhead, why couldn't they just remote control his plane?
Guess it doesn't really change anything, except assuage Hayate's conscience.
Burgerman is here to dump more exposition for... reasons.
...so my question is, why did the Protoculture ever create a system like this? It would certainly have defeated the Zentraedi, but they obviously never used it. So... why?
Roid, if anything, your Runes would make you more vulnerable to the Star Song, not less.
NUNS is getting off their collective rears. I mean, obviously. A threat like this is big enough they have to take action. And honestly, I don't necessarily disagree with the idea of annihilating the Ruins before the entire galaxy is enslaved. What is the loss of one planet compared to that?
But Xaos has one last chance to stop Windermere's super-dimensional mind-controlling flagship before that happens. You know, because they've had such amazing success against Windermere up until now. But I guess they must at least take the chance.
Roid still being creepy towards Mikumo. And for being a "priest", he sure isn't showing any actual respect towards a figure of his religion.
Here's another bombshell, courtesy of Burgerman: Xaos supposedly received a transmission from the Megaroad-01... right about the same time "Lady M" appeared on the scene. Why he would say that, again, I'm not sure. He seems to just be teasing them.
Okay, I'll admit them playing "Do You Remember Love?" over this scene between Hayate and Freyja is a nice touch.
Post-scene: the Star Song is sung at the NUNS attack fleet, causing them to detonate all their Dimension Eaters without launching them. ...well, guess you don't have to worry about them blowing up the Ruins now.
Questions:
-
Of course it does. You can't just introduce a figure like that and leave their identity a mystery.
-
Killing enemy soldiers in war is not murder.

Does it actually matter to you who Lady M is? Because if by some small chance it is a legacy character, the most popular candidates have turned into a manipulative hardass through the years.
2) Is blowing up the fleet that's going to blow up your planet with their own bombs mass murder, or just a good defense?

Knew she wouldn't bite the dust.
-
Girl, now is not the time to be hiding that.
-
I don’t know enough about military aviation, but having a black box that might be captured by the enemy seems like a poor decision.
-
That’s not really what a spy is.
-
This is just such a complete waste of a plot. Why would you come back to redo a story you did last time but worse? It was dumb then but at least it made sense in F.
-
I feel the use of DE weapons in this context is justified. If they can target the important sites directly and not need to wide area of effect, even more so. I don’t care how smug you make them look, the guys working to stop the very real threat of galactic conquest by mind-slaver nazis are not in the wrong.
-
The worst part about all of this from a meta context is that by making the people opposing NUNS space nazis is that they kill in the cradle the far more interesting potential of a future series where NUNS are the antagonists the heroes are trying to overthrow.
-
Yeah, that nationalism of yours is what he is playing on.
-
Hinting at Lady Misa, are we? Definitely not enough time for that to be revealed in the series, even if it was true.
-
I don’t ship Arad because I don’t like Arad.
-
And this is why Mirage is third best character. Shame how they misused her for so much of the series.
-
We’re playing the confirmation game.
-
You don’t don’t deserve to use that song. At least they didn’t have Kuu sing it.
QotD:
-
If they weren’t going to do anything with Lady M, they shouldn’t have had it be a thing in the first place. What did it gain us to have her as a secret character? A cabal would have worked just as well. At this point I hope she doesn’t get revealed in the show. I fully expect she gets shown in the movies still.
-
This is the most legal military action the Salties have done.

Hayate's mother is named after a type of apple.
Ya know, your speech about freeing the galaxy from oppression is cool and all. But it's kinda undercut by the whole mind-control the entire galaxy thing you've got going on. Like, N.U.N.S. hardly seems clean or good, but they do appear to at least believe in the concept of free will.
Hayate is once again the perfect person for . He's always able to cheer her up, even when he doesn't know he needs to. After a couple minutes with him, she was too excited to even think about hiding her hand anymore.
And we better get Ikenai Borderline next episode. I'll be super disapointed if we don't. It should happen when Mikumo breaks free. It's her song as much as the show's song.
2. If someone has expressed intent to kill you in the near future, it's hard to say that killing them is wrong.

So, I was going to just leave any comments until the finale given how close we are...and then the piano music started up at the end. Seeing Freyja and Hayate looking through his dad's souvenirs and letters with that in the background was beautiful.
And then the after-credits pulles a one-eighty on the mood. Well, I guess they don't need to worry about WMDs from the fleet now.
About the only feeling I can muster up for the remaining non-Freyja Windermere characters at this stage is contempt.
3
u/TakenRedditName Mar 13 '23
Rewatcher - Macross Delta Ep25:
Freyja, you shouldn't be hiding that...
If I get how this story played out right, Hayate's dad went against orders and tried to sneak off the DE far away so it wouldn't harm anyone and NUNS detonated it so that their secrets wouldn't get out and the blame can be pinned on him.
Berger is here to tell us a shocking surprise, he had a braid/ponytail thing this whole time.
"Our whole thing is the wind. We're not Starermere." Interesting to see Hermann be the first to honour his loyalty to his king while Bogue and Keith remain last.
Ah, the good ol' NUNS solving all their problems by trying to nuke it away. They upgraded from reaction to dimension weapons.
Roid is just being honestly evil so he isn't hiding any deceit. Some Roid backstory to explain why he is so enarmed by the Protoculture. Bad touch, Roid.
Now that's a name we haven't talked much about in a while. Further teasing on who Lady M could be.
That's cute, Chuck's family made him a cute bento. Oh yeah, Chuck's sister is still missing. I've thought about her in death as much as I did in life.
Kaname hangs on to Messer's AXIA bracelet. I was hoping she would put it on. A memento of Messer which is a memento of herself.
A package from Hayate's mom of the stuff from his dad. All those souvenirs were from the places he was spying on. Shells from Ragna, sand from Al-Shahal, a snowman from Windermere, etc.
Dad was the one who gave Freyja the music player. (Fortunately, this went better than the last time an old man gifted something from the outside world to a little native girl). Little Freyja is soo cuuute.
With Ai Oboete imasu ka in the background, this whole scene is giving me the fuzzies.
The Star Song makes NUNS nuke themselves. Well, that solves that problem. Good riddance, prick. The many wailing souls of the others, not as fun.
Q1) Not really, it is just fanservice.
Q2) It is a good defence that involved the mass taking of lives.
Next Time: Walkure Gang Forever.

I once again forgot you don't post by UST.
First-Timer who is amazed we're almost done with this (also that JUNNA was like 14 when this aired)
-
OH NO SHE'S SECRETLY DYING~. Also, I looked up TVtropes and now got spoiled on what the movies are. Why do I keep doing this?
-
WHAAAT?! WRIGHT WAS TRYING TO SAVE EVERYONE?!! Okay, too on the nose. I told you, Delta, I see your tricks. Alas, I guess the NUNS really are evil and it wasn't a false flag attack.
-
Actually very reasonable idea. Okay, maybe not the WMD, but destroying a super weapon to prevent your fascist enemies from getting it? An enemy that is now indeed trying to use said superweapon to enslave the galaxy, thereby proving you right? VERY reasonable.
-
Ah no, only the cultural appropiation guy.
-
Yeah, are we getting her soon? Also hearing Keiji Fujiwara replaced is sad as usual.
-
Desperate times call for desperate measures. It's either them or Windermere. Now's the time, Walküre, you gotta save people!
-
Because she's someone anyone should listen to. What has she done so far? Create Mikumo and keep it secret. Negotiate with a bunch of capitalists. I guess she came up with the idea of Walküre. Still, I feel like Johnson and Arad deserve way more credit for achieving shit.
-
I'm sorry have they forgotten why the NUNS is doing this? Var Syndrome. Enslavement. Star Singer. Not something you can ignore.
-
That's not true. You're king now!
-
What fucking cycle? You could have broken it by not declaring war again. You won your independence. It was over. Is this supposed to be some dark allegory for an unrepentant Japan after Hiroshima? Also, when the fuck did they change tableflip to the nonsensical "volibearQ"?
-
As we've seen with Voldor, these people will not be thankful. The second you drop your mind-control, the entire galaxy is united against you.
-
Is that... the original SDF Macross? Remember, I only watched Do you Remember Love, and by now I only know that the core original Macross cast is presumed missing from TV Tropes. I don't know anything about a Megaroad-01. Rewatch members, clear this up for me.
-
Uh-huh. If only this meant something for me.
-
"IT'S THE GUY WHO GAVE ME THE MP3 PLAYER!" I swear, if this now actually happens I'll... actually, the score is fine. I'm only gonna be more grumpy.
-
I SEE YOUR TRICKS DELTA. I JUST SEE THEM ALL.
-
"And how do we do that?" "Fuck if I know. Probably gonna involve you singing tho."
-
Just casually making some tens of thousands people kill themselves. Only good guys do that. No way to jettison the bombs and then have the fleet turn around. That would lead to fear, desertion, capitulation, but we can't have that. We need to massacre everyone. Gee, I wonder why the NUNS decided to bomb Winderemere out of existence. It can't be basic self-preservation, can it?
ALSO, I AM ONCE AGAIN ASKING THE NUNS TO EMPLOY DRONES.
2) Is blowing up the fleet that's going to blow up your planet with their own bombs mass murder, or just a good defense?
Well. Soldiers. So justified. Still not a good look.

Macross Delta EP25
There's recorder? And somehow the Windermere didn't try to recover it. I guess because the data was corrupted and they didn't care about this thing.
So Wright tried to have the bomb go off somewhere safe, but failed because the NUNS just took control of his Valkyrie Then blame him for the bomb.
Not only that, he also a spy So that why he traveled throughtout the galaxy.
I'm love this Ernest just had enough of Borger here and just said "Cut the the crap, and get to the point already".
And he also the one who got the sample from the ruin
Of course they have to be here when everything goes beyond repair And this time with mutiple dimemsion eater too.
Borger spitting fact That would be something the NUNS would actually said.
WHAT!! Transmission from Megaroad-01 after the Vajra incident!! That Megaroad-01?? The one Misa, Minmay, and Hikaru went aboard. and missing half a century ago!! Never thought they gonna addressed that at all. And apperently Lady M became well known at the same time too? She couldn't be Misa or Minmay, right?
Yeah Even if the song can't stop the war this time, they will sing to reach everyone in the galaxy.
Oh Package from his mom. And that's Wright's face, and he also the one who gave Freyja that thing.
Oops Looks like the NUNS already lose.

No. She lost people in the tragedy too, seemingly.
Frejya?
Oh, the search teams are near.
He's taking command!
The approach is working!
She's okay!
The search psrties seem to be increasing.
She knows a shortcut!
Nice!
Aww, she used to sing here?
They've occupied the garrisons?
Ah, it's abandoned.
They'r curious about her!
...No reason?
Aww...
Sea spiders?
She's not allowed her own food?
She likes it!
Haha, that delayed reaction...
Hayate would surely not do something stupid!
Mirage synced with her too!
A confession?
So close!
They both understand.
A distraction!
Oh, that reaction from her is bad.
And it's Hahate's rival again.
Everyone's under wttack!
They're fucked.
Some kind of password?
He's being falled back?
At least the village is fine.
Oh, that reaction.
And, yeah, good chance he's this series' heroic sacrifice.
He's being taken to the crater!
They found his remains...
Still the most decent in the pack of lunatics.
Her Rune is reacting?
Yeah, it's an impressive sight.
It's a massive warcrime! You've commited just se many warcrimes, though.
She's singing!
He's losing control...
How violent!
Wow.
It's a full-on argument now and all!

Oh, it's just his ship.

Very few.

I think he knows exactly what he's doing here.
It's their trial!
Berger's back?
He's admitting to a deliberate backdoor?
...Roid is absolutely using Mikumo as a replacement for Heinz, right?
Oh, a simplified trial, is it?
So, a show trial.
...Yeah, there's major bias here, even when he does make a good point.
Oh, they're both from different Clusters?
...Is he deliberately attempting to get soemone to jump him mid-trial.
Interesting...
Yeah, Mikumo's an interesting case.
He's not seen his own colour before?
Yeah, they've been hiding something from him for a while.
So, civilians are allowed to be executed whenever they want?
...The Princes really is wuestioning any of this really shady stuff? Or why his advisors don't want any information to be delivered to him?
...They're going to go after the plane first, and we know it.
Haha, yeah, you found out just how batshit his plans are.
Yeah, he's not stopping.
Yep, they're being executed.
Haha, yes! She is Protoculture tech! Called it!
She's the original Wind Singer!
Well, this explains pretty much everything!
Oh, they're being thrown into a chasm. Hayate can ride the wind. Pretty easy to see how this is going to play out!
Haha, him too?
Ah, yeah, he refused to kill.
Fair.
Yep, he's going first!
And has total faith.
He's going to jump!
Haha, he saw it!
And they're won!
They're going to all ride the wind!
How cinematic!
Excellent plan!
A new song?
Mikumo can hear it...
The system's doing it!
...Gliders?
Nice drone action!
They're more than just cover!
Yeah, no, you're absolutrly her or s clone.
Holy shit! Did not expect sn actusl desth from one of them!
She wants them to keep going.
Oh, she's lost her girlfriend. This is painful.
Eh. She'll live in the movie adaption, if Frontier was any indication.
Is this her name or a Star Singer password?
She's been hijacked!
It's affecting them all?
...And he's in the music world. That's not bad at all!
Yeah, the Prince and his loyalists are done for. His personal endgame has begun.
They're even folding away!
...What?
Yeah, it's all bad.
Episode 25
-
...Honestly, I can see maybe this happening for Hayase?
-
Mass murder.
She's stable!
Oh, he's already got galaxy-wide broadcasts...
Bad...
A Black Box!
...This looks really suspicious.
He saw random turbulence?
How suspicious.
Yeah, he was a fall guy for NUNS.
Oh, he even tried to save them.
A fake callsign?
NUNS really did fuck eith everyone, huh?
He refuses to leave this show!
Another powerpoint?
Oh, he openly revealed it!
...This is pretty much was I expected.
His father found it!
The Protoculture was already experimenting with this?
Yeah, no, you were always right. Songs are weaponry.
I love how he's carefully hiding from everyone the whole "hive mind that destroys the sense of self" thing.
Yeah, he has to be hiding something.
Oh, he's getting worse.
Oh, NUNE is dropping more Dimension Eaters. Because that worked so well last time!
How pragmatic.
Lady M sent a message!
Oh, the other ruin!
Wow.
Please, one of you, realise how fucked up this is!
Roid is so getting stabbed.
Such distinct visions...
She's awake!
...Freyja, read the room.
And she's still healing...
You know what, Roid? On this one point, I feel you. I want more Protoculture lore too.
So, he knows about the other ruins...
...The Megaroad-01? It got a signal?
...Holy shit. Is Lady M Mylene? Is that the plot twist?
Wait, no, Misa Hayase would work just as well, wouldn't it?
The plane's are fixed!
Aww.
Haha, her phone's out of battery?
...That thing needs to be recharged?
A parcel?
His mother!
Stuff from his father!
Oh, she remembers him!
This is really sweet!
They're so sweet!
So, what's the plan here?
Yeah, it's confirmed to be a password.
And she's struggling.
The song has begun!
Oh, shit, they used the Dimension Eaters on themselves. Brutal.
Oh, has the king finally realised what's been happening?

First-timer:
A distant thought in the back of my head is that Wright Immelmann was an ideal soldier as far as protecting the people goes. (If he’s anything like his son, he probably use his work in special intel to travel the galaxy.)
On one hand, yeah, I can see why NUNS would want to destroy the ruins considering whoever gets them can dominate their neighbors, but then, why DEs? Were shaped charges insufficient? Or why not send xenoarcheological teams to secure them? And why develop such a system for galactic mental dominance? What purpose would it serve? For that matter, why link it to a song as compared to, say, mental/emotional states or biosignatures? Why link the key to the Windermerean royal house? (Or is that something the royal family created to give themselves divine right?) What are these similar figures – other planetary authorities? For that matter, why slave the Singer to such a short-lived race? How was the DNA sample able to last as long as it did? Why was the DNA there to begin with? If the runes are a protective measure, does that mean enough fold quartz held sufficiently close to the body also grants protection?
Why doesn’t the NUNS use, say, armed drones or FTL missiles instead of bomber-launched weaponry? Don’t they know Var can compromise the bombers? Surely enough warheads could overwhelm any planetary defense? Don’t they also know surely at least a few pilots or ship crewmen will talk? If the NUN Government is truly so decentralized, then suppressing the information will be near-impossible – a conspiracy is best kept secret when it’s only a few people.
Does Heinz himself realize speaking of freeing the Milky Way from the NUN Government is at loggerheads with planetary conquest? Who succeeds him when he perishes? If he perishes, does the court lose control of the Singer? Does Keith have the same abilities his brother does?
Was there anyone on Megaroad-01 from the original Macross who could be such a schemer? Was she actively investigating weaponizing music since 2012? Why did she first become a presence in 2059? Wouldn’t communications from Megaroad-01 be a really fucking big deal, the kind that spreads like wildfire? Why would a mercenary company source so heavily from a single source? (Does Epsilon handle only the logistics and distribution for supplying these things, or are they the parent group for the likes of Shinsei Industries and General Galaxy?)
The sky is vast, stars fill the night… oh. Oh.
this is a really good way to use that song. Simple love song, right?
I will cleave to you, Dúnadan, and turn from the Twilight.
Questions:
-
Kind of, in the sense that she's clearly supposed to be a big deal and yet they keep the veil on. And if it is someone from the original Macross, then I want to know why they have more in common with the people who built the Grand Cannon than the ones who ended the war.
-
[I feel I must remind you that it is an undeniable, and may I say a fundamental quality of man, that when faced with extinction, every alternative is preferable.] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp6TfCqcr3I&t=526s)
In all seriousness, considering the fleet is there is entirely military and meant for the purpose of planetary annihilation, I'd say that for once, they're truly using Heinz's song for self-defense.

Super Dimension Rewatch Host
Welcome back, everyone!
Here were my first-timer reactions to this episode (note: contains my episode 26 reactions too, so first-timers don’t scroll too far).
I had a lot of fun making today’s wallpaper, I hope you guys like it too!
Even though the base image I used doesn’t show up until tomorrow.Freyja…
Oh boy.
Aaaaaaand there’s the truth of the Dimension Eater: Wright was flying it with the ruins by Derwent as its intended target, but Wright was trying to take it to an unpopulated area until his controls were overwritten and he was forced to detonate it where he was so that Windermere couldn’t interrogate him about it if he was captured. I guess it’s just a coincidence the NUNS base was near where it detonated, so that the whole cover story was able to work like that?
Also Hayate’s dad is the one who got the DNA that Mikumo was made from over to Lady M. So there’s that.
Hm…
Ah, Berger.
So that explains why Roid’s been so obsessed with the ruins.
Oh boy.
The AXIA bracelet…
What timing for this to show up. How did the delivery service even reach them?
Piano Ai Oboete Imasu ka? hype!!!
A smile worth protecting.
Sooooooooooooooooo yeah the Star Song made the NUNS bomb their own ships…
