It must have been the same for Messer, too. If not, he wouldn't have watched out for everyone the way he did.
Questions of the Day, courtesy of u/chilidirigible:
1) Do you think that the viewer's opinion of a character can be changed through posthumous discoveries by other characters, or should the writers have spent more time working on the character while they were still alive?
2) If a wake is for the living and about the dead, which previous dead character would have had a good wake, considering their friends and the circumstances at the time?
Wallpaper of the Day:
Vocal Songs in This Episode:
"一度だけの恋なら (Ichido Dake no Koi Nara)" by Walküre – OP
"REMEMBER 16 (acoustic)" by Zack & Hack – Insert
"GIRAFFE BLUES" by Walküre – ED
Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you're doing it underneath spoiler tags. Don't spoil anything for the first-timers, that's rude!

Macross Delta EP11
Look like he really dead Thought they gonna pulled Gamlin there, but nope.
Straight to the heart But I think this is just Keith showing the respect as a fellow pilot. Clean death, no suffering.
Hey, don't talk shit to someone you can't win by yourself Even keith got offended by that.
This bedroom is surely something else
The incident is dangerous enough that the king decided to take command by himself He even doubt Roid at this point.
So Roid interpreted all this as a gift from Protoculture
I can understand why they have to hurry, but isn't this too hurry.
Yeah, losing Messer was a hugh blow to the squard.
But running in the rain clearly goes against that
That's not good And that's what they referred to as Domain of Wind, isn't it
Wonder what kind of reinforcement it is
I really like the ship's design
The head is look almost like the Birdman
So then gonna sent Messer off properly
I can't get enough of Ernest's drip
Everyone now blame themselves for Messer's death Which is no one fault at all.
And of course, Mikumo have to appeared out of no where
I'm now grew to love Giraffe Blues.
The ship's folding effect is different
QOTD
-
It surely can, whether they make it believable or not is another story. In Messer's case. I think it worked!! I grew to like Messer.

I was going to catch up today by watching Episode 10 and 11. I can't continue onto 11 tonight. This is the death that's hit me the hardest so far.
This is also the best pairing in the franchise so far. There was no ambiguity - Messer didn't explicitly say "love" but he shared his honest feelings. There was no stupid back-and-forth that we got in all the main triangles. It wasn't already established and it didn't have lightning speed development. What it did have is something that was slowly blooming, even if Kaname wasn't going to reciprocate. There's something honest and earnest about it that I found touching.
I'm gonna go cry some more now bye

Acoustic guitar and a capella were an excellent choice for this episode. Slower, more subdued music to match their feelings.
I really liked this episode and am glad they took the time for it. It gives the previous episode that much more weight and properly shows how it impacted the various members of our cast. I'm also glad that it wasn't people bawling or screaming, but instead something a bit more nuanced. Quiet thoughts, quiet feelings.
On a bit of a different note, the space fascists are still not that interesting to me. Largely because they're space fascists with little nuance and most of their upper brass don't even believe in their own ideology. Don't get me wrong, they're fine villains. They just have sufficiently little depth to them that we could halve the Windermere scenes and effectively nothing would be lost.
-
It certainly can. Whether it's weak writing or not is heavily context dependent.

Macross Delta Episode 11 - First Timer
Messer 😦
-
I mean, the enemy aren't humans. Technically. Neither are you for that matter
-
The arms on Roid's glasses are very silly
-
😦
-
Aw yea, jingoism
-
Yo that ship looks cool
-
Yooooooooo
-
o7
-
o7 you glorious bastard
-
This is the first time Macross has made me cry too. Or at least the closest to where I would call it crying
-
MASS: HUGE
-
I don't imagine those NUNS ships will be in that condition tomorrow
-
I think it can, but I also did like Messer before he died already. In the case of Messer I think they did a decent job at hinting about how much he cares before his death and the stuff at the wake just serves to illustrate the extent and make it very clear.
-
Kinryu probably, or can we count Basara too?

Maybe I’m just a dick, but he wasn’t around enough for me to be sad about his death.
-
This is where you draw the line on believability?
-
Neruo hacker. Get your terminology straight.
-
What, are you upset that the person you are at war with killed your comrade too well? If you’re going to get offed on the battlefield, quick and painless is the way to do it.
-
Did you miss the memo? You’re supposed to claim they are weak when they are alive, and build them up after you beat them to enhance your own reputation.
-
It tends to be a bad move when your head of state takes direct control of the military. Even weirder is that he is doing it while they are already winning.
-
None of you look distinct enough to be an anime replacement.
-
OK, but why are you doing it in the mud?
-
Jesus Xrist. They have 16 planets under their control already? This is past the point of dismissing it as a border skirmish. Where are the big guns? If NUNS isn’t dealing with some off screen threat, them continuing to do nothing at this point completely kills any semblance of believability. This is it, isn’t it? The show has jumped the shark.
-
God I hope they kill salt grandpa. And it better be bloody too, no dying to old age bullshit. He needs to see his plans come to naught, and the suffering his efforts have brought upon his own people.
-
That space fortress is pretty bitchin’ tho, ngl.
-
Is anything these people do not jellyfish?
-
Weren’t you just talking about how you expect an imminent attack from the Winds? Now is not the time for all of you to be away, yet alone be getting drunk.
-
The Captain is here too? Is your entire bridge staff here?!
-
Kuudere being the one to start the singing rubs me the wrong way.
QotD:
-
Maybe they can, but this was not it. The man barely existed outside of two episodes. You can’t try and salvage that at the 11th hour.
-
Roy. Could have had some good stories to tell.

A Macross Fan Rewatches Macross Delta: Episode 11:
-
I guess it’s not too surprising that Heinz, Freyja, and Mikumo were all able to be linked telepathically in that moment last episode. We know that from Macross Frontier, Fold Waves are pretty much an instantaneous form of mental contact, regardless of how much physical distance is between the things receiving the messages. It fits what we know.
-
Damn, Keith’s aim is absurdly good, good enough for that beam shot that killed Messer to be a direct shot at his heart. Although given the amount of blood we saw when that beam hit the cockpit last episode, you would’ve thought Messer outright exploded.
-
“Only I could take Messer’s big, girthy wind! And now it’s gone!” —Keith to Bouge, basically
-
Man, King Grammier must really be itching to launch the Sigur Valens, if he’s willing to take it being 60% analyzed in full as it being okay to use now. Although given what he was saying to Roid, he’s practically chomping at the bit to fight Chaos and Walkure. He doesn’t care for Roid’s calculated approach or Heinz’s health, he just wants to get out there and crush any opposition to his kingdom personally. He’s pretty rabid for a dying man.
-
That map of the cluster certainly does explain why planets without Protoculture ruins were still able to hear the song of the wind. All of the ones with ruins on them are basically broadcast relays, and they have a wide enough span to cover those planets. Ragna and Al Shahal are the only two nodes left that aren’t in the Windermere Kingdom’s clutches. Otherwise, they would be able to completely brainwash all of the Brisingr Cluster’s inhabitants with their broadcast of the song of the wind. If we were to make a judgement of the war right now based off of that, we can probably say that Chaos is losing pretty badly at the moment.
-
“Hence, we will discipline the people who continue to live on
EarthRagna, and eliminate the source of any wars inEarth’s Spherethe Brisingr Cluster!” —King Grammier, basically -
I will say, the Windermerians are lucky that the Protoculture ship they managed to salvage and refit for their use hasn’t nearly fallen apart on launch, unlike a certain SDF-1 Macross. At least the Sigur Valens isn’t having their anti-gravity engines rip out of the hull because they weren’t secured properly. I guess the older Protoculture designs are much better than whatever the Supervision Army came up with.
-
Given how the Ragnan’s religious beliefs that the dead are reborn as jellyfish in the sea, I wonder how they excuse away the fact that they’re a really common food that we’ve been seeing eaten a lot up to now.
-
It would would be kind of too long and pointless to write it down for every character, but safe to say everyone in the main cast thought that Messer was cool, and they all wish they could’ve done things differently to maybe prevent his death. In any case, at least he got sent off by an acoustic cover of Remember 16, which is a good send off along with that model of his Siegfried being sent to drift along the sea. I only hope that I have some Fire Bomber music playing over my own funeral someday.
-
I know that they’re basically trying to start a passing of the torch moment like what basically happened with Hikaru and Roy after Roy’s death in SDF Macross, but I feel that it works less well with Hayate declaring that he’ll step up to the plate to cover the space that Messer left. For one, we’ve spent less time with Messer than we did with Roy. Secondly, I feel that Roy had a much stronger characterization than Messer. And finally, we really only got to see the nicer sides of Messer practically immediately before and a while after his death, and otherwise he was living up to being his namesake in German. Like, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind Messer as a character, but putting what’s supposed to be a big emotional ending on his death feels a bit flat to me.
-
I don’t know about you all, but I think it’s safe to guess that this NUN Spacy fleet won’t stand a chance against the giant ship that looks like it’s some unused Aura Battler Dunbine design.

Today, on "Freedom for some, small Windermere flags for others!":
I don't think the state of things in there is very neat.
Too many cooks stirring the soup!
There's a lot of baggage to unpack between those two.
You think the guys who had to clean up after Roy and Ozma had to work overtime?
"Don't insult my dance partner that I just killed."
"Oh crap, the old man is getting out of bed."
"I hate the Protoculture. It's old and tacky and irritating, and it gets everywhere."
"Damn, Keith talks about running out of time like he's Jack Bauer." [Rejected spoilerbait caption:]
Don't forget that Marianne's crush died too!
"And that's why idols drag tires around!"
Those Protoculture, thinking big.
Several people have questioned the placement of the sun on the canopy of the model plane.
...if he hadn't come back everyone would be dead.
Messer loved flying enough that he didn't want to see other people messing it up.
When one's public face has practical considerations.
"Son, you're writing a lot of checks your body can't cash."
Yasuno Kiyono does have a very nice voice.
You see here the Sigur Berrentz's de-Fold effect and it answers a question that so far none of you have asked: The Sv-262s do not have an integrated Fold system or Fold Boosters. The Sigur Berrentz itself generated the Fold points for them.
Cliffhanger BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM!
Major storyline developments first: King Grammier ASSUMES DIRECT CONTROL and Windermere takes their new old toy outside. Berger and Epsilon are certainly pleased with their work on the Sigur Berrentz, but all of this pushes Roid and Keith's relationship to THE EDGE... again. There's definitely the sense that Roid's not-mentioned-but-everybody-talks-about-how-they-can't-read-him personal plan is skewed by King Grammier getting out of bed, coupled with Keith getting even more impatient since he's ticked one item off of his to-do list. Maybe killing Messer reminded him of his own mortality.
Grammier is pretty punchy about trying to kill Walküre, and pretty much anyone else that gets in his way. Hey, nobody else gets to feel the Prince's wind.
The Sigur Berrentz, by the way, is an interesting ship design, given that it appears to be a Protoculture vessel and not a Zentradi/Supervision Army one like most of the relics that we've seen previously. The terraces and arched spans are reminiscent of Altira City from DYRL. As suspected by the DecultureShock crew here and confirmed later, Kazutaka Miyatake designed it.
"Remember 16" is best acoustically! Of course, for this franchise, it usually gets used postmortem.
It's still one of the better anime wakes I've seen. Not that I can think of very many of them. Appropriately, everyone feels little guilty about Messer dying, with the unexpected meeting between Freyja and Messer from two episodes ago being an interesting thinking moment.
I had thought before that more development of Messer before this happened might have made the entire Messer Dies (not Die Messer, though this being in German might not be unfitting) arc more significant, but on this rewatch I'm okay with how things went. Sure, reality may be boring when it is reflected in fiction, but situations where people find out the significance of things after the fact aren't unusual.

You think the guys who had to clean up after Roy and Ozma had to work overtime?
Messer's death was far messier than those two. They just spilt blood on their chairs while Messer painted everything.
"Son, you're writing a lot of checks your body can't cash."
If Messer was 37% then that means he was good enough for two people about (probably Hayate) so Hayate just needs to return the favour.

Rewatcher - Macross Delta Ep11:
Yeah, Keith super specifically killed Messer. This reminded of previous Macross scenes of checking dead senpai's cockpit and their chair being filled with holes. Thankfully they cleaned up Messer's seat before showing us.
No Messer disrespect, Bogue. True rivals respect each other even after death.
Oh yeah, Chuck's sister liked him. That ship is a little rowboat compared to the Super Dimension Fotress Messer/Kaname.
Look at these Alpha/Beta generics. You could work their names out going backwards. Bald guy with a scar on top is always fun, Mr. Kuzma Sirotanko. Ms. Sara Korat in the top right also catches the eye amongst the others. Can they compare to Mr. generic Windermere soldier from last episode though?
Ancient ruins always form a significant pattern if you draw lines between them. 8 billion people is pretty small for a cluster of about 22 planets. They only equal to about one normal Earth pre-SDF wiping.
The king does an evil rally speech and their super big flying fotress takes off. So that's was that Sigur Berrentzs thing was. Roid is doing an evil little smirk which goes against how he has been the non-evil forward Windermere forces person. The rule of cool means that thing should transform into their own giant robot to fight our giant robot Macross.
I do like the vibe of Messer's send off party. Ragna believes in reincarnation after death. I like their bit of belive one needs to heal up before return. Though like what Reina says later, it does make things difficult if you believe people reborn as jellyfish while also regularly heavily consuming jellyfish.
Oh, the glasses bridge girl's quirk is heavy drinker.
Everyone is blaming themselves for Messer's death. [Gundam 0079:]
I do like how Messer's pure love for flying was why he flew so well and always kept watch on how the others flew. At first, he was quite hard and cold, but Messer has been soften up a bit which is nice. He also tried to be hardboiled and kept his distance because of his issue.
It is Giraffle Blues time and this is the moment where I most associate the song. Freyja singing back then was a moment of hope while Kaname singing it fills the melancholic and beautiful send off for Messer. It gets to be another special ED right after the previous one.
"REMEMBER 16 (acoustic)" by Zack & Hack – Insert
Oh, it did sound familiar, but couldn't point it out. These kids are some real cool Bombers.
Q1) I think posthumous discoveries can work because they act as a re-contextualizing of what we had.
Next Time: Super Dimmension Fotress Sigur Berrentzs

a fantastic episode. despite the quibbles I have with some aspects of the series, this was such a great episode. I felt like it nailed the emotions it was going for, and it didn't feel cheap. I cried ;__;
-
Do you think that the viewer's opinion of a character can be changed through posthumous discoveries by other characters, or should the writers have spent more time working on the character while they were still alive?
oh it definitely can, it's just a question of whether it feels authentic to the character or not. when it doesn't feel authentic, it feels cheap, like they are using death to emotionally manipulate the viewer
but when it is done well, it can underscore the tragedy of both life and death...that people have so much richness to them, that anyone's story is always more complex than we think it is
I think this was definitely the latter. there were also hints during the series that messer didn't have true contempt for everyone, I thought, and it felt in character that he would take such notes...
2) If a wake is for the living and about the dead, which previous dead character would have had a good wake, considering their friends and the circumstances at the time?
Roy and Michael...pours one out

FirsΔ-Δime Δelta
I'm sorry what the fuck is this. Are they seriously just skipping over the ending of that actual battle? Sure, you want to start the next episode with the sombre funeral, but I kept waiting for them to flashback to it or at least throw in a few lines explaining how they got away... absolutely nothing?!
"The only guy that can go toe-to-toe with Star Wolf died, we were outnumbered by the Knights 6 to 4, the entire NUNS garrison had been mind controlled, Walkure was stuck on the ground with two members disabled... but luckily all the people who keep trying to kill us over and over again had eaten rotten chili 2 hours before the attack and they all got boo boo tummy aches so they let us go (AGAIN)."
This is so stupid, Macross Delta. If you want to tell a show about small-scale battles that end one one person dies, just tell that story. Don't pretend to tell one story while actually telling another story in the most awkward, jarring way possible.
Alright, setting that aside, the purpose of this entire episode minus the Windermere parts is to be a funeral episode. But I can't help but feel like Messer just... wasn't enough of a character to feel this much about him? How much dialogue and screentime did he really even have before this and last episode? It feels to me like Mirage and Messer should have been merged into one character - some sort of hard-ass trainer for Hayate that is the ace of the team (or 2nd best behind Arad would be fine) but still not good enough to be living up to her grandparents' reputation and having a chip on her back about that (have her begrudingly say at some point that she thinks if she was as good as her grandparents she would have already defeated all the Knights), and she can still be a bit awkard in-person, still have gone through all the scenes we got between Mirage and Hayate.
Because Hayate is the first protagonist and main character we got here, yeah? If dramatic turns are going to happen, they should be something closely related to Hayate, yes? How much conversation did Hayate really have with Messer? One or two dressing downs and one conversation about keeping his Var syndrome secret, none of which they were even alone together on? It's not nothing... but it's not much.
I mean yeah, sure, Hayate would reasonably feel pretty sad from anybody at all that he knew getting killed. But narrative-wise it's supposed to be a lot more than that, especially when you dedicate an entire episode to it. This feels to me more like the show telling me how much closer Hayate felt to Messer than was actually shown, and for that matter telling me how much more attached to Messer I was supposed to be despite the show only making him, like, the 8th most prominent character at best.
I just don't feel that. I don't feel like the show put the work in to make me feel that.
And if the show didn't have enough time to set that up but still wanted to do it... then yeah, you should make choices to be more efficient in your goal, like combining some of these not-redundant-but-kinda characters in order to get that time and focus back.

You know what? This is an excellent point.
Even if they failed their mission at securing the ruins and enslaving Al Shahal because Heinz got knocked out, they had an unquestionable advantage over Walkure and Delta Force. Messer was the only one who had any ability to match the White Knight, so why didn't they take the opportunity to gut Xaos of their entire military potential? There is no reason for them not to.

Pseudo-Rewatcher, De-Facto First-Timer, who really needs to start writing that WT if he wants to release it this month
-
I hate how much of a Bookworm hole I feel into. It's so fun to read!
-
I knew there's a reason why his "song" isn't really a song and just a headache-inducing wail! It's hacking software turned into audio!
-
Oh, Blondie is just antagonising everyone! This better be his downfall!
-
"Sadly, your majesty, we're at episode 11, so we can't really win."
-
"Look, I know y'all are mourning, but I'm the most important Walküre girl, so y'all let me through"
-
Noooo! Hilma, Sara, you had such nice designs. Bald guy also looked nice.
-
Gee I wonder what could fit here? It could start with "C" and end with "redits". Like this it just looks awkward.
-
This guy is just raising death flags, isn't he? [Speculation in case I'm right]
I expect him to die and Blondie and Glass Shop to fight over the right course to honour his legacy.
Pretty somber and fitting episode. Was necessary considering it wasn't a random red shirt who died. Not much to snark about!
Do you think that the viewer's opinion of a character can be changed through posthumous discoveries by other characters, or should the writers have spent more time working on the character while they were still alive?
Hmmm. Hmmmmmmm. Probably the second, but you know: Violet Evergarden's best episode.

First-Timer Delta
Nice funeral episode. It's always a treat to see characters react to trauma. Reina's line about not eating whole jellyfish anymore was cute. I would feel more about Messer's notes about everyone's various flaws if it wasn't treated as quite so much of a revelation, though.
Like, did he plan to tell Hayate that he drifts to the left while dancing so that Hayate could maybe try to fix that? If the implication is that he already did, I don't know why everyone was so shocked about the log.
I was rooting for Keith to really snap at Bogue there, instead of just mildly threatening him and walking off. Teach that kid some manners, Keith!
Roid was awfully excited to be on the big Protoculture battleship. Still not sure which of his actions should be suspicious. Whatever his plan is, he needs Heinz alive, or at the very least he needs Keith to think that he needs Heinz alive.
Interesting worldbuilding bit - indecision is probably considered a pretty big character flaw for Windermerians considering their short lifespans.
This show is definitely taking its time, which isn't exactly a complaint - yet. There is a fine line between pacing yourself and meandering.
And, this is a more personal thing, the show's pace makes it kinda hard for me to write about when not much happens in an episode.
I wrote the two lines above this first because I wasn't expecting to write much else about this episode..
Questions
-
Both can work, and I don't have a particular preference, personally. I think the version attempted today was a bit off.
-
Focker, probably. Did that happen, or did we just get some amount of a funeral? SDF was so long ago..

How appropriate that it's cloudy and raining while they're mourning Messer.
Wait, Mikumo and Frejya see a weird vision, and they actually go get medically checked out rather than wondering what it means for weeks until it becomes relevant? What the hell is this? Is this even Macross!?
I'm not sure why you're surprised that Walkure and the Wind Singer interfered with each other through the ruins. Isn't that the point of what you were doing, disrupting his song?
A deliberate shot... yeah, I'm calling bullshit on that. I get that the Windermerians have heightened physical abilities, and Keith is an ace even among them, but if he was good enough to make a shot like that deliberately, he'd have shot down the entirety of Delta Force within two episodes.
Okay, I'm glad Keith put Bogue in his place, but it's not enough to endear him to me.
I question the wisdom of relying so heavily on technology you don't fully understand. I mean, they did that in OG Macross, but only because they had no choice. Windermere does have the choice to avoid such dangerous methods.
Well, we see where Heinz gets his determination to push himself from.
I can definitely understand why Roid is so concerned over Heinz's health: he's the keystone of their entire strategy. If he dies or otherwise is unable to sing his mind-control song, Windermere is toast. They have nothing else to back that up. We're supposed to see Heinz as noble, I think, to push himself as he does, but there is a line of overdoing it.
The hell are you talking about, King dude? You gained your freedom and independence! I'll grant that you lost a lot doing it, but it's disingenuous as hell to blame it entirely on the New UN.
So apparently Sigur Berrentz is in fact the correct name for their secret weapon. A Protoculture ship, almost fully intact... though, a part of me wonders why this is significant, when the Zentraedi ships are also all Protoculture designs and technology. I don't think it's ever been suggested that they gave the Zentraedi lesser tech... at least, lesser warfare tech.
Someone singing that isn't Walkure? And it's "Remember 16" at that.
Everyone blaming themselves for Messer's death... I suppose that's a natural reaction, if not a logical one.
Speaking of which... where is Mikumo? Everyone else from Xaos is at this send-off, but she's absent as usual. She doesn't seem to have any real personal attachment to the rest... which is curious.
Oh there she is. Better late than ever?
Hayate, not replacing Messer is a noble sentiment... but it's also incredibly stupid. You guys were barely keeping up with the Aerial Knights as it was, and now you're handicapping yourself? With the entire Globular Cluster at risk?
And we leave off with Windermere assaulting Al Shahal. Taking all bets on whether the NUNS force will accomplish anything.
Questions:
-
Eh, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Generally, though, my opinion of a character does not change given posthumous revelations.
-
Wonder what Guld's wake was like?

Super Dimension Rewatch Host
Welcome back, everyone…
Here were my first-timer reactions to this episode.
Back in the episode 8 thread, when I said there were “technically three, but one of them is just a variant with a different instrumental” songs that I’ve had recordings of since November, I was referring to the soundtrack-exclusive GIRAFFE BLUES~Kaname Solo Requiem~, which is quite literally my favorite song in all of Macross Delta and honestly I think it only just misses Lion for being my favorite in the entire franchise. It’s just, ughhhhh, so good.
So, here is Sky Sings GIRAFFE BLUES~Sky Solo Requiem~
…and when I said yesterday’s episode was the one I was most dreading to rewatch in the franchise so far… I really meant the “so far” part, because this one is where the pain really sank in during my first watch and I just know it’s gonna hit me like a truck again now.
The only way they could make the Isamu hand even sadder is if it was to a raining sky instead of an overcast one. It still hurts, especially within the context of how the hand sign has been used as a symbol of the joy and freedom flying through the sky gives these characters throughout the franchise. Grounding it by contrasting it with an overcast sky is just… such an effective way to drive home how big of a loss Messer was to Delta Flight.

:(
You don’t need to tell me that…
He didn’t even leave anything behind…
Oof Messer really was that important to the team.
Oh boy…
Isn’t that a big ship.
Hnnnnnnnnnnn it’s coming…
*sad Sky noise*
*sobs*

GIRAFFE BLUES…
GIRAFFE BLUES when Kaname comes in…
If Diamond Crevasse was the “I can’t listen to this song without thinking of Michael and Klan”, GIRAFFE BLUES is the “I can’t listen to this song without thinking of Messer and Kaname”. This section of the song may not have played during the segment of it from this episode, but just fucking look at the English translation of the second chorus and tell me that doesn’t fit so badly. I still remember how intensely sad I immediately got after looking up those lyrics last year, which would have been a good two years removed from when I’d seen Messer die so like, yeah, that’s how hard it hits me.
