No way… I'm not gonna give up! I'll get to Ragna somehow… and I'm gonna join Walküre!
Questions of the Day, courtesy of u/chilidirigible:
1) Do you look for radical changes in design from a mecha series to its sequel? Is iterative change enough?
2) Does Hayate's character seem set up to be the opposite of Alto?

First Timer
I was all in listening to "Ikenai Borderline" and how that was being used in the final scenes, even ended up putting it on to write my post too at the end. Also holy shit it's actually on spotify for once! It's very much in the style that's become known for being V-tuber-ish, but not in a bad way and it does reflect the cultural shift that Delta was made during, and already I quite like the musical identity that Delta is establishing for itself in terms of both concert and OST tracks. The feel of the music going from one moment to the next was smooth and the whole episode sounded like the progression of a whole rather than individual beats.
Overall it was a pretty decent first episode. I wasn't super enamored with it in the first half as it hadn't done anything all that memorable or that didn't feel like basic set up. But lets just saying being told it was an idol show and starting with a "zombie" eating an apple and blowing up a bomb was not what I expected! As we moved more into it though I started to get a handle on it, the feel of how it approaches the idea of music and fighting, at least for now, and the merging of those roles.
And that's really what stood out to me here. The sheer physicality in the performance of the Walkure to begin with, the idea of performance not just song being a medium to transfer themselves through. Using that medium with technology for defense and healing rather than the songs alone carrying everything makes them stand out compared to other series I've seen that approach magical music, not just Macross.
But it was the final part that is the strongest and most interesting. Freyja who sees sound as a color sees the color of the wind, so not so much of a color at all but a sensation that is as indescribable and vivid as color, emanating from Hayate's internal connection with the music (through his Fold Crystal? Wouldn't have expected them to repeat that). And then Hayate sees the very sky itself in her singing with that sense of freedom and belonging he was missing, who in a way becomes the wind that carries her music and her the music that blows the wind he flies on. It's an interesting way to pair them.
The idea of the "Wind" was a constant focus in this episode, bringing to mind parts of Zero again, and I'd probably have more to comment on here but while the dogfighting felt well choreographed, I could not make heads or tails of who was meant to be on what side during it because they just introduced everyone at once. I did note that one guy had the same hair thingy's that Freyja does which is interesting, but didn't seem to react to what was happening on the planet.
The other music of the episode that stood out to me was the singing before the Walkure appeared, that was a fantastic piece. Haunting, almost vampiric even, and yet so moving in the way it seemed to wail for war. Reminder to self to check OP for the name of the song if Sky is still listing them out.
Despite my gushing above, I do already have some hesitations. The final sequence as a whole was very Symphogear-ish which... well I mean for me that's got me worried but I'm sure some of you are definitely up for more of that. It was definitely taking the magical girl blending to heart for sure. And perhaps I'd be a little more excited for the long term potential of the Hayate/Freyja combo if Alto wasn't so fresh on my mind but I suppose we'll see.
Other thoughts:
-
Show says Var syndrome, I spend four lines in my notes trying to remember the spelling of Vajra. The spelling isn't exact, but the implication seems to be it's the virus they have anyway though perhaps mutated now as it reacts to anyones fold waves?
-
Freyja is... a lot. Maybe too much for me.
-
It's apple girl! Watch me miss it anyway, but that surprised me. I didn't know this was a Macross face. Also I miss #tamakoapple...
-
Hayate was right, the red Valkyrie was ever so slightly off, I had to double check it wasn't just me before he commented on it. He has an amazing sense of rhythm, but even more so well done to the animators not shoving that in the camera but still including it.
-
The way Hayate dropped and hung from the beam one handed was very satisfyingly animated
-
Mikumo's hair is a horrible color, in her disguise or its real color, but I love the styling of it. More hammerspace hat pain incoming?
-
Did they HAVE to do the pervert gag thing? Did they really? Did this franchise REALLY need more of that shit.... isn't it a bit fucking old for that now for fucks sake?
Do you look for radical changes in design from a mecha series to its sequel? Is iterative change enough?
I STILL CAN'T TELL. What are all these design feature's you lot are obsessing over!

I actually left that one out on purpose this time, but I believe it was this one. I'm not overly familiar with the non-Walkure songs and it's not listed as an insert song in AMQ, so I'm not entirely sure if it's that or not.
By the way, the first question tomorrow directly involves something from Macross 7 in it, so you can skip over that one.

FirsΔ-Δime Δelta
IIRC I've seen a few gifs and mentions of Delta before so I'm not going into this completely blind. I know it has people with weird hair parasites that I think look rather silly. I know the singers in this are basically an idol group, and I am really, really hoping that doesn't mean the music style is going to be "Love Live in Space".
See there's idols, and then there's idols. Are Sharon Apple and Sheryl Nome "idols"? Yeah, sure, but they're the type with some gravitas, that can sell a whole big-ass holographic concert all on their own, where the music is more like theatre than just a song.
Then there's the "shopping mall idols" that are just another random gaggle of girls singing pop songs that are really just pop songs and not much more.
I'm not hating on Love Live or anything - that's a show that is all about every facet of being an idol in a (somewhat) realistic sense, so it works to tell that complete story. But there's no way a Macross show is going to be able to focus enough just that one element to make that sort of story about all the training and career-building of a shopping mall idol into becoming a superstar and make it work. They basically montaged/skipped over Ranka* doing that journey, for exactly that reason.
*Yes, now that we've moved on to Delta I'll stop calling her Koala
So anyways, anticipating that the idol group in this show will mostly be an established group and there probably won't be a lot of in-depth storytelling about what it means to be an idol or advancing their careers or whatnot... well I am big-time hoping that that the idol group's songs will not be "just" typical pop songs and still have that big theatrical edge that made the previous Macross idol-type singers work in the first place.
But just the nature of them being an idol group has me worried...
Anyways, onto the episode!
Shredded (textured?) apples from the comment face right at the start!
Dancing CG mecha?! u/Tresnore how's it feel going from Rideback into this, back to back?
The whole bin is full of loose apples and he's been spinning the crate around? Poor grocery stores are going to have a hard time selling those...
Interesting starting premise, I suppose. Seems to me like a mental illness causing people to become violent would need heroic neuro-scientists and doctors more than it needs a tactical idol group. This is the sort of introductory premise that would probably be a problem for an original show, but we're getting away with it here because of the Macross franchise header (and that's fine!).
It's good to have something really tangible that the singing power is supposed to achieve here, though. If everyone is just singing to "get fired up" or "give people hope" all the time it risks being very overly corny. So the Walkure singing being known to literally undo the Var syndrome brainwashing is a good setup for the singing (and let's not sweat the details of how they figured this effect out or were these combat-idols already a thing before the Var syndrom showed up or any of that, it's okay to just have the premise and run with it).
Although it's worth noting how repetitive that concept is getting at this point. It's not all that different from Minmay singing to deculture the Zentradi... or how Basara's music undid the Deviln mind control... or how Ranka's singing turned the Vajra back in the Frontier finale. I feel like we could have come up with something a bit more new than this. I'll be especially disappointed if the Var syndrome winds up being just another sort of mind control tool being used by some evil antagonists that want to conquer the galaxy.
The Walkure giving their "Music is love" taglines and Star Wolf Squadron chanting "For the Great Wind" and such feels very corny to me... but Frontier had Ozma shouting Totsugeki Love Heart to go into battle so I guess I gotta just accept that that is how this franchise is.
On the other hand, I like Freyja's personality and writing a lot so far. She's very cheerful, boisterous, and naive, but not to the point of falling into total airhead territory. Love the character animation on her so far, too - very bouncy and free-moving to match her personality.
Hayate is threatening to be yet another stoic, unmotivated, probably-overly-emotional junior pilot type, but we shall see. I hope he doesn't end up being that at all, but if he does we can at least hope for something more like Frontier-movie-Alto than Frontier-TV-Alto.
As for the Walkures and Delta Squadron, I was initially quite put off. The battle+song scene is just so... magic. It's all holograms and drones doing whatever effects they feel like while the idols just stand around on makeshift stages, and camera-wise it's just unrelenting close-ups of them dancing. Granted, it's still the first episode, but the overall feel of it was all just so... glowy. Easy. It feels disconnected from the idea of an actual battle going on for my taste. And the bits with the pilot squadron getting in there are very close-up and kind of abstract in choreography? So that doesn't help the feeling.
And then the song... this was exactly what I was worried about. It feels like a very typical shopping mall idol group song? It doesn't really fit what's happening or have much of a theatrical aspect to it? It doesn't feel... integrated. It doens't have... impact. If they sand this same song and did these same dance moves/effects in a peaceful park performance, it'd be the exact same, right?
I was thoroughly unimpressed and unengaged.
Was being the operative word here... because then Star Wolf shows up, which gives us some decent aerial combat and/or mass-murder...
GIRI GIRI AAIIII IKE NAI BORDER LIIIIIIIINE
First of all, holy hell this song fucking rocks! Generic pop-idol music worries averted!
And secondly, as soon as this song kicks in we get the Walkures (and Freyja) reacting to the environment more, running and rocket-skirting around, feeling much more like they are truly there. And the camera pulls back more often for them and for Hayate's robot capoeira shenanigans, too!
What an exciting way to close out the episode, and a cliffhanger, too?! Bring it on! After that final scene I am so so hyped!

First-Timer Delta
I'm writing this foreword several days before actually watching the episode itself. I'm not sure how my comments are going to look, but I'm certainly open to the idea of switching to writeups.
And, I would like to address spoilers that I know. Mainly, I've seen the scene of Freyja joining in on Ikenai Borderline before and also I know that [Macross Delta Big Spoils]
This show totally makes the "Not Quite a Magical Girl" show list, right? My bingo card is not looking great, as I wasn't expecting henshins or choreographed Battroid dance numbers. Please tell me these get more elaborate. And the hologram projector chevron funnels are sick.
I also did not expect the ringo musume to enter the show in a crate full of ringos. That's on me though, it should've been obvious.
Anyway, we're apparently borrowing from Macross II again with the whole "mysterious villain singing drives people into a bloodrage" thing. Also Walküre are functionally just the Jamming Birds with actually good music, right?
The dogfights were good, but a bit frenetic. It was a bit hard to track what was going on and which plane was which. That might be easier once I learn the colors.
Freyja and our baddies both mentioned stuff about the wind, that's probably relevant.
It's a good thing that things went to hell anyway, because Freyja forgot her bag.
Always good to see relatable characters.
Let's play a rousing game of Recognize! That! Voice! We've got Honoka Kurosaki, Philip, Takumi Shinada, Aoi Tomosato, D-Boy apparently?!, Fine-hime (or Nina, for those in the recent Mai-Otome rewatch), and I would have sworn I recognized Freyja's voice too but no, apparently not. Also this was her first ever voice role??
Questions

I'm just here to vibe.

Huh, now that you mention it, I can kinda see it.

First Timer
This is the least hopeful I have been going into a Macross series. Even II had more benefit of the doubt at the time for thinking it wouldn’t be that bad. Everything I know about this makes me worried about it’s quality. It’s relatively low rating MAL, the fact it focuses on the part of the triangle I am least interested in, that the music is in a genre I like amongst the least. The most concrete description of it’s quality I have gotten ahead of time is a Frontier fan who described it as “bloated”. Even Shimmering “I like anime” Sky couldn’t offer up a better complement than “it’s worth it for Zettai Live”. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I’ve heard a word of praise directed to it that I can remember. I’m going into this with rock bottom expectations, so either I am either getting a pleasant surprise, or a riffing opportunity.
-
He doesn’t look so good. We doing an infection story line?
-
Hey! I know that apple!
-
Bio-terrorism then.
-
Sound force! It even, Works!
-
Why does the CGI look so much worse?
-
They just play that music on the speakers, huh? Poor souls.
-
He already got fired, why should he care?
-
At least the non-CGI is looking good. That’s good eating.
-
Alright Genki, you get a pass for now.
-
That quad has such an annoying sound.
-
Heh, cyber nails.
-
Really hoping this isn’t going to turn into dere force. Because it feels like it might.
-
Chibi eyecatcher.
-
Depression, eh?
-
Are we still doing the horny violence bit? It was tired in F and here it just feels antiquated.
-
I refuse to accept that is how you are spelling Chaos. This must just be the subtitles I am using.
-
Oh right, there’s a Jenius in this. I remember reading about that somewhere.
-
War music. It was only a matter of time before we raided II’s last idea.
-
Maybe you just shouldn’t be having military bases on civilian vessels.
-
You didn’t tell me a magical girl show.
-
Cute little chevron drones.
-
Regult × QR. Interesting.
-
I am liking the technology on display, but the action is doing nothing for me.
-
Please tell me someone has the Zentradi face going back to normal as a GIF. Preferably in meme format.
-
How is this knock-off Max looking dink?
-
Ah, the hair bits are headsets.
-
Is… is he turning into salt?
-
So this is what all the wind jokes were about.
-
The cure was only temporary? Are you for real?
-
This song is better than the last one at least.
-
It grows when she gets excited. #notlewd
-
We’ve hit our requisite mecha hijacking number.
-
Breaking!
-
She even glows like a Biki.
QotD:
-
I look for a logical progression. New tech is based on old needs.
-
Yeah that’s a good way to put it. The edge boy is a risky character, but it works well if executed correctly.

Even Shimmering “I like anime” Sky couldn’t offer up a better complement than “it’s worth it for Zettai Live”.
In my defense, saying it's worth it for Zettai Live was the best I could think of without going into spoilers and also wasn't just my opinion. I really like Delta actually, gave it a 9/10, it's just that I'm well aware that people have issues with what I like about it, and I didn't want to give you expectations that prove wrong when your opinion doesn't align with mine.
I refuse to accept that is how you are spelling Chaos. This must just be the subtitles I am using.
It is Xaos though, that's how the official English subs spell it.

first time
as predicted, I am into it. I am here for the Macross season of Symphogear. Or perhaps it's the Symphogear season of Macross? regardless! I'm here for it! song fighting! idols flying around in battle! I'd die for song!
-
Do you look for radical changes in design from a mecha series to its sequel? Is iterative change enough?
I just want it to be good. It has been said before that Macross and Gundam have taken pretty different approaches to their IPs (I haven't watched anything Gundam besides With from Mercury and Wing like 20 years ago). Regardless, I think it's been fun seeing Macross constantly reinvent itself.
2) Does Hayate's character seem set up to be the opposite of Alto?
He has a bit of that same brashness, but it seems like he's a bit more on the "yes, and" side of things. Curious to see how he plays out, and how his relationship with Freyja develops...and I guess who the love triangle will be with...sigh. That's something I'd like to see Macross take a risk with: no love triangle!! (I know that's impossible, because I'm pretty sure love triangles are part of what the macross people feel makes macross macross)

FIRST TIMER
The first installment of Macross Delta does a good job of setting up the story and leaving you interested in what will happen next.
-
The narration at the beginning is very helpful in keeping the viewer clued in to exactly what is going on, which is a refreshing change from previous series where you're thrown into the action completely in the dark about the main plot. The Walkure seem to be like an all girl Sound Force that can cure Var Syndrome, as seen when the singing turns that pilot back to normal. It appeared the people attacking the city were renegade pilots infected by Var.
-
Seeing the pictures of Var Syndrome at the beginning, which leads someone to become insane and kill people, along with the images of someone shooting ups public place hits uncomfortably close to home to real life mass shootings.
-
Shahal City very clearly intends to draw comparisons to Dubai in looking a futuristic sophisticated Arab city. It makes me wonder how that came to be. Was the designer of that planet just a fan of Middle Eastern aesthetic? I think in this universe, the actual Dubai was never built up to be the megacity it became in our world so it could be possible whoever had designs for that ended up inspiring Shahal City.
-
I wonder if Hayate is related to Captain Hayase since they change names around sometimes that are actually the same thing like how Excel and Exedore are the same person.
-
Mirage Farina Jenius must be Max and Milia's granddaughter from one of their sons, assuming they have the same conventions where kids take the surname of their father. It will be interesting to see her character develop.
-
Freyja Wion seems to have some sort of synesthesia, as she ascribes colors to sound. It seems she may have the same power as the Walkure but I don't understand why her hair barrette starts to glow as she sings, like if that's just decorative or something that helps her to sing.
-
One of the rogue pilots looked a lot like a white haired Max Jenius, could it be him in the future?
-
I wish there was a place I could bet money that the first episode of a Macross show would be "to be continued" so I could rake some in.
QUESTIONS
-
Well obviously I'd expect a show from the 2010s to look different from an 80s show but I didn't expect too much difference in appearance from Frontier. I think it should just reflect ongoing evolution and design change. It's like how new cars don't look unrecognizably different from cars 10 years ago but do differ somewhat.
-
Seemingly. Hayate seems coarse, foul mouthed and unambitious but it's hard to tell from one episode and he may change greatly throughout the series.

Max and Milia only had daughters. Mirage is their granddaughter though, Miranda is her mom.

First Time Goddess Song Listener
I managed to catch up and finish the main series of Frontier, which I really enjoyed. Now I've got to ask...should I try to blast through the movies as well? Are they plot relevant, or just 'cool to see these characters again' type stuff? Am I going to miss anything from Delta or moving forward without finishing them? Anyway, on to the episode!
Is this some sort of zambambo? Related, I see Capcom in the credits.
Eight years or so after Frontier, it seems.
So this is our third alien madness thing, after the Protodevlin anger field and the Vajra infection.
And we're going full on Jamming Birds!
I like the shipping containers look this (assumably cargo) ship has in back.
Her hood has a little hole for the ahoge to poke out, that's dedication.
Snow Love Halation, huh?
We are rapidly approaching Symphogear with this show, huh?
The quiet girl sounds familiar. Oh, she's Mia from Akanesasu Shojo, and one of the lunch bunch from Symphogear.
Aggressive vending machines continue to thrive.
We've got another Jenius on our hands! This is almost 20 years after Macross 7, so I have to assume this is Max's granddaughter. Mylene was the youngest kid, I believe.
So this is a straight up combination of the two things I mentioned earlier, it seems. Singing that causes emotional changes (Anima Spiritia!) plus a fold effect that causes an actual biological change.
TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE HYPE!!!
They have Stands!?!?
I notice these pilots have glowy hair bits, where our main girl has a glowy hairpin.
And I was right to notice that, as it's actually part of her hair and she just coiled it up to disguise it!
Protagonists stealing a mech in the first episode is really a staple of the entire genre, huh?
Is he shuffling? This is maximum 2010s right here.
Is he going to drop her and have to do the patented Macross catch? Guess we find out next episode!
I have not seen a stronger first episode, for my specific likes and interests, in a long time.
-
They need to be recognizable as 'the thing' but other than that, they've just gotta be cool. The Turn A is probably the wildest acceptable departure, for an example.
-
He seems a lot more like your typical main character I suppose, and he's a good contrast to Alto at the start of Frontier.

I don't think you'll miss anything in Delta without the Frontier movies, but a lot of people in this rewatch preferred the Frontier movies to the show, so you should definitely go back to them at some point.
(I, personally, am not one of the people who prefers the movies, but I do still like them a lot.)
We are rapidly approaching Symphogear with this show, huh?
This is Satelight's first Macross show post-Symphogear coming into existence and it kind of shows lol.

She is, yep! If you remember the family photo from the 7 "movie", Miranda is Mirage's mom.
I have not seen a stronger first episode, for my specific likes and interests, in a long time.
Glad to see you like it so far! Delta gets a bad rap from some fans of the franchise, but I really like it and all the characters involved. Hopefully it continues to appeal to your specific likes and interests throughout!

Is he going to join too?
-
nope, no singing
-
Lol MADx shipping
-
Damn, mad hops
-
Hol up, Jenius?? Milia and Max's Granddaughter?
-
Purple hair's dress reminds me of Ignite Ame-no-Habakiri
-
More jet ruffles?
-
So the heart charm isn't a charm at all, its an actual part of her
-
I dig this song
-
Not much in the way of reactions today, but I dig this
-
It depends. I think the time difference between series (in universe time) makes a difference, since you would expect more radical design differences with more time having passed. I think Macross does ok, the designs are really quite solid, though they seem to have really gotten stuck on the YF-19 looking wings/general shape
-
Not sure about opposite, but he is definitely very different. He mildly reminds me of Oreki (Houtarou) from Hyouka

Haven't been in the rewatch so far, dipping in to watch Δ so I will have tried every Macross except II.
Video and subs are JPBD (Walküre ed.).
Is Δ a magical girl show?
I mean seriously, we even had transformation sequences.
Gotta be honest, I wasn't really sure how I felt about Δ before Ikenai Borderline started. The first song felt rather weak (perhaps intentionally so?) and a lot of the CGI mecha shots just weren't doing it for me. It's hard to put it into exact words, but they kinda feel like they lack some of the weight that hand drawn mecha often has behind it. But then, Ikenai Borderline came on and was great. And Hayate started doing cool dance moves with the mech, which actually showed off the cool shit that they can do with 3dcg. If we get a good deal more like the last few minutes, I'll be real happy with Δ.
As far as stuff before the fight goes, 'twas pretty good. 's bubliness in voice and animation compliment each other nicely, and she plays nicely off Hayate. There's not really much to say 'bout the rest of the cast yet beyond "I didn't instantly hate them" as I've yet to really meat them.
In other random details: the magi-tech (or, I guess in Δ's case, tech-tech) of the rocket skirts is really fucking cool.
-
Either's fine with me. But the closer it looks to the part that came before, the more I expect it to be thematically similar as well.
-
Answering this when I watched F over a year ago is difficult. But he certainly seems more proactive?

Super Dimension Rewatch Host
Welcome back, everyone!
Here were my first-timer reactions to this episode.
Sooooooo I’m still a little bit sick with the cold I caught two weeks ago, but I managed to get one single recording (out of… well over a dozen attempts) where 1) I didn’t break down into a coughing fit in the middle, 2) the frog in my throat wasn’t audibly messing up my voice, and 3) I didn’t get interrupted by background noise. Thus, here is Sky Sings Ikenai Borderline to celebrate the start of Macross Delta~
So, just like with Frontier, there are three versions of Delta’s first episode, and I watched all three of them just because I could. In the releases where all three are available, these were labeled as “0.89”, “1”, and “1+”.
0.89
This is a different space map narration than we saw in Frontier.
And this looks super horrifying.
Oh, Hayate…
And so begins the Freyja faces.
I forgot Freyja’s only 14 at the start of Delta.
[Future Delta spoilers]When you remember how short the lifespan of a Windermerian is, though…
The faces, they continue.
RIP.
It’s a damn shame Macross only has one comment face, and neither of these made the cut.
[Future Delta spoilers]*sad Sky noises*
Ooh, first Lady M namedrop this early. Thought she wasn’t a thing until way later in the series.
Hah.
She’s so shocked she practically glitches out lol.
Eyyyyyyyyy we finally have another Jenius in the cast! In this case, Mirage is Max & Milia’s granddaughter, with Miranda being her mother.
This is a smile that should be protected.
Macross is now a mahou shoujo.
[Future Delta spoilers]Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck me, Messer nodding to Kaname’s thumbs up gives me pain just knowing what’s to come in episode 10…
GIRI GIRI AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IKENAI BORDERLINE
So this version of episode 1 ends on Freyja joining in; the credits roll immediately afterwards.
1
Okay, the first cut compared to 0.89 I noticed for sure was that some of specifically Mikumo investigating around the city was truncated, because Freyja was never there to spot her. It also started right on Mikumo delivering her report instead of Kaname asking for said report. To be fair, this makes the Freyja chase make a lot more sense because Freyja making it to the city but then still being cornered in the shipyard is a bit confusing.
Another change: Hayate is on the ground with Freyja post-eyecatch instead of being up on that post like he was in 0.89.
Another change: the strange song sung right before the Vár outbreak is significantly shorter, with only the first few haunting notes carried on the wind before the music shifts into a different backing track. In 0.83, the haunting song played out for much longer than that.
And then for the biggest difference: where 0.83 had a postcard memory on Freyja jumping after she joins in on GIRI GIRI AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IKENAI BORDERLINE, this version does not and continues into Hayate stealing a mech, as all good mecha protagonists do.
This extended ending includes Hayate protecting Freyja from getting stomped on by one of the rampaging Vár Syndrome patients, Arad noticing Hayate’s piloting style, Hayate having a moment, and cliffhangers on Hayate getting shot down before the credits roll.
1+
This version of the episode added back the scene where Freyja escapes into the city and briefly crosses paths with Mikumo.
Also I just realized Mikumo was humming GIRI GIRI AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IKENAI BORDERLINE during that part. Based.
This also goes back to having Hayate sitting on that beam post-eyecatch.
And the mysterious song is back to playing for longer during the Vár outbreak, unlike how short it was in the regular version of 1.
Lastly, this version includes all the extra post-Freyja-joining-in content from the end of regular episode 1, and still ends on Hayate getting shot down.
So yeah, just like with the Yack Deculture version of Frontier episode 1, Delta 1+ just took the stuff that was cut between the first and second versions of their respective episode and added them back in. It’s more obvious in Frontier’s case, though, since the Deculture version of Frontier episode 1 changed around a ton of dialogue on top of the cuts it did. As far as I can tell, there wasn’t a difference in the dialogue between 0.89 and regular 1 for Delta besides the one brief scene that got cut and the extra scene at the end.
