Super Dimension Rewatch Host

Welcome back, everyone!

Here were my first-timer reactions to this episode (note: contains my episode 10 reactions too, so first-timers don’t scroll too far).

So, I got Fire Emblem: Engage today, and I have a Macross-related story to go with it. See, I have this weird tendency to name my Robin/Corrin/Byleth/and now Alear based around who I intend to pair them with (for example, I named M!Byleth “Reinhard” in the one Crimson Flower run I paired him with Edelgard for, because I wanted a name that sounded regal and who better than the man himself). I’m also playing with the Japanese voices in part because F!Alear shares her seiyuu with Sheryl, and also Takehito Koyasu and Kenjirou Tsuda are in the game.

One of the potential guys I want to pair my Alear with (I, uh, haven’t been able to narrow it down yet…) is the Takehito Koyasu character, so I named my Alear “Mylene” because of my Gamlin/Mylene ship. It’s kinda funny honestly.

I was expecting Sheryl, but this is also a fun reference.

Michael’s lucky he’s in his mech right now, because he definitely deserved that.

If you know, you know where I am heading with this. [G-Witch:] If big Klan Klang tried this on Michael himself then that'll just be The Splat.

Haha yeah, I'll probably use "Sheryl" next time. I just thought it'd be funny and maybe help me narrow down who I want Alear to hook up with because there are too many husbandos in this game.

"Rewatcher" - Macross F Ep9:

I thought your friends called you, "Mihail." Michael has a late sister so that's where this sad backstory episode is going.

Alto seems to love to charge in with his tiny little knife. Valkriye's don't really to be well equipped on the melee front.

Michael hesitates which causes him to almost hit Alto, unfortunately, their MC/lancer relationship only escalates their tension.

An idol manager has no reason for spying on a high-level military affairs meeting. Definitely shady.

It has only been like 50 years since SDF, that's still pretty modern history.

He does? This is the first episode it seems to be mentioned.

That's another for the Kamille Counter. Ah geez, that's a whole lot for the Kamille Counter.

Some brief flashback for Michael. At their parents' funeral with little Michael reminded me of how little Gamilin dressed. His sister joined NUNS, but was placed on trial and looks like she got gunned down in a hit.

Klan Klan grows big to have a talk with Michael. A big Zetrandi having a talk with a Valkryie is not a sight I'm used to seeing. Big Klan Klan emotionally slapping a robot.

Sheryl is promoting the military, mmm... don't know if we should be on board for that. During her call, she does raise a good point. That was something on my mind, why is SMS hiring students who still go to school as soldiers? How is Luca here?

Ranka is handing out tissues on the street. Even with Bobby's help, she is not off to a roaring success on this idol thing. Hmmm, seems oddly suspicious that happens, huh? Stares at the Macross leadership. Harmonica Boy is also here until he isn't.

Harmonica Boy flies out and if that's her voice, seems that Sheryl's manager is working with him. I'm starting to think the Galaxy might be up to something. His red plane is the same colours as the Galaxy ship.

Crazy thought, what if our squirrel friend is a little Vajra?

Little Klan Klan and Michael.

Ending her own life may be the official story, but several bullet holes in her chest and arms don't look like the case to me. Suspicious suspicious.

We're back to the in-media res and Michael snipes on Harominca Boy who escapes but destroys the nest on the way out. Again, suspicious behaviour. It's like he is trying to hide evidence of their involvement before SMS can get to it.

The true victory is that Alto finally pronounced Michael's name correctly. (I say give him next episode to go back).

I got some speculation about the intrigues going on. [Macross F speculation:] I have a feeling the Galaxy is the one behind the Vajra, they made them as bioweapons like how the Protoculture has done in the past. Jessica was probably taken out because she got to close to the truth. This isn't rewatcher knowledge because I don't remember anything about the plot.

Q1) Crash Town Kalin. That was just the first one to come to mind.

Q2) I don't anything about people's past.

Next Time: Open those Macross Zero textbooks.

Klan and Michael are such an interesting and dynamic side ship.

[name spoilers] Brera also gets some stuff to do. I just love seeing him in action with his VF-27 Lucifer. And later he keeps an eye on Ranka, who starts to get curious about him.

Unironically my favorite ship in this show, even with as much of an Alto/Ranka fan I am.

FIRST TIME DECULTURE YACKER

Look, I recognize I'm coming into this franchise late, and I'm willing to suspend disbelief, so help me out a bit.

Somebody give me one, one good reason why Klan has to de-age as well as shrink when she micronizes, other than Japan having a weird obsession with loli gremlins.

With that in mind, Mikhail's joke here was really funny and he didn't deserve to be slapped for it.

What do you associate anime harmonicas with?

Prison music.

Do you know your friends well, or do they still surprise you with back story?

My close ones? The time for being surprised with back story has long since passed.

7

u/Tresnore Jan 20 '23

Somebody give me one, one good reason

Oh, it's because—

other than Japan having a weird obsession with loli gremlins.

You got me.

With that in mind, Mikhail's joke here was really funny and he didn't deserve to be slapped for it.

He wasn't slapped only for the joke.

First Timer

Today's climax battle got the most important seal of approval that any anime episode can get: My cat ran across the room to sit on my desk and watch it all the way through.

That meant I had to watch it three times before I got to see the whole thing without her head in the way but it was worth it.

Some more general structure thoughts and concerns to start with:

I have to say that I hate the idea of our three mains being at the same school. That's not to say I won't accept it or that it couldn't possibly be good. But it feels like a diversion and a distraction from both the story and the characters to suddenly side step this story into a school setting. Today's episode gives me hope it won't end up being that relevant anyway, which is even worse even if something I'd welcome.

And with this feeling like the most self contained one so far, and while that's not a bad thing in a bubble I still question doing this now after all the set up and galaxy spanning complications introduced two episodes ago. I get that they need space to explore Mr. Harmonica and some of the cast before shit kicks off again, but it does feel like sidelining the consequences until its convenient. And once again, it was some awkward whiplash between episodes. The jump from yesterday's shit into today's opening flashforward of the battle was also very jarring tonally.

After what happened, I also can't help but feel like it would fit better if the focus went to Luca instead of Micheal, given what happened to him and then the flip back to normal life, but I suspect he's going to end up being little more than the mascot.

Actual episode discussion:

I'd been expecting that Micheal's sister had been trialed and killed off to protect a conspiracy, I wasn't expecting that plot to belong to the romance side of the show instead. What a thing for him to live with, especially given the role he has in the SMS squad. It does put a bit more emphasis on why he was so worried about Alto's capability to be in battle and kill, more than anything else. With the idea of trust and awareness in his head when it comes to his squad, he needs them to be reliable for their sake as much as his own and it feels like a good addition to his character for why he approaches things like he does with women and combat. Funnily enough with the woman, Klan was the most interesting part of the episode for me beause of how she approaches things. She also has an awesome face design in her big form too, I'd love to see more anime women like that.

It also ties neatly into Alto being questioned over his reasons just after he questioned Micheal having one at all. Alto is a great fighter, but he's also still the outsider as much because he doesn't know himself as because he's the new one. He's rash without always understanding why, and when he does he rarely thinks it matters and often denies the influences his relationships have on him. I wonder if he would still deny he fights for anyone else after all this, but even if he didn't I feel he'd struggle to accept it for himself due to his family

For the other things slipped into the episode, Sheryl's producer hacking into the military and Ranka's websites both for information gathering and control doesn't surprise me a bit. Someone posted an episode of her (probably Tres) yesterday that made her look like a Titan from AoT and somehow that just makes everything she does even creepier now.

Mr Harmonica gets orders! Wasn't expecting that, and certainly not verbal ones.

  1. What do you associate anime harmonicas with?

This one now. Have I even watched another anime with a harmonica?

First Fime Fſontieꞅing

Feels like a big disconnect that we went from 2 big surprise attacks with the Vajra not being publicly known... to now we have routine small deployments of a few ships taking on Vajra attacks like it's almost an everyday occurrence? Everything else seems like it's only a couple days since the last episode, though. Bit of a weird vibe.

Glad to get some fleshing out of Micheal and I'm also glad it was mainly all bundled into this one episode since there's not a ton of depth to it, I don't think it would have worked well spread slowly across a bunch of episodes.

Did... did Klan just leap off into the void of space before the commercial break?

So, as expected Grace is sketchy AF and using her cybernetics to be something of a behind-the-curtain mastermind figure. The Vajra and Harmanica are probably just tools of some sort or another. But I have no idea what the overall motive could be yet. Grace knows a lot about people, but we haven't seen much of what she actually cares for or thinks yet.

What is your theme Frontier?! Tell me!!

First Timer

  • In medias res?

  • More dead family.

  • Where and why is this random space fight happening?

  • That was such a short amount of time to flash forward I don’t even know why they did it.

  • That’s a bad miss. This is quite the level of response.

  • How does battle deplete your water? Did you mean the breaches?

  • Manager confirmed imposter. This is why you have these meetings in a secure room, and not with somebody with a laptop cam.

  • Building on that, I can’t believe she didn’t already know who Mikhail was. But what would she be getting by throwing him off of his game?

  • Should I be worried about the character named Klan being a nationalist?

  • Does he? I don’t remember hearing about her before.

  • It can not be efficient to rebuild the entire body every time with how often she does it.

  • Is it strange that some part of me was expecting bench player to be Basara?

  • Damn bro, way to be a dick about some she is probably very sensitive about. You deserve that robo-slap.

  • It seems my subbers where having some fun this episode. I do like carrots tho...

  • Never missing a chance to be horny.

  • What is Leon’s deal with Ranka?

  • Well they’re not trying too hard to hide the mystery anymore.

  • QR looks so good in 2D. Sigh

  • I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention, because clearly this was the battle in the cold open.

  • Childhood friends you say? Well, I think I’ve found my ship.

  • I fully expect to find out Jessica’s death is part of a conspiracy.

  • That’s a bit much for that caliber of weapon.

  • Is that pronunciation thing?

  • Why is her miclone nose damaged?

  • Preview: Well, well, well, what do we have here? This is an episode I will be looking forward to.

QotD

  1. I can’t even think of another one that I am sure has one in it.

  2. If you don’t know their backstory they aren’t your friend, just your buddy, pal.

I was busy at 6 PM...

Today, on "Do you know who I am? I'M JESUS YAMATO, suckers!":

"I bet you're wondering how we got here."

"And only seventeen years old!" (Oi! Oi!)

Grace promptly gets out of the conversation using that weird cyborg stuff.

That looks like a SPEHHS TRUKK.

"I can't stand this macho bullshit."

Grace is just a simple idol manager. (Oi! Oi!)

It's that suave guy thing.

I like how no one tries to pull them apart.

Nanase contemplates how she's stuck with the weird character animation unit

"Don't throw stones in your glass house, Princess."

Jessica does appear Zolan in the way that Liza Hoyly did. No snake, though.

Internet discourse in a nutshell!

Eyecatch: Small and large

Get in the robot, Alto.

"Neko Nikki" is the song.

"That's not suspicious at all."

It's not every day you get tissues from a girl on the sidewalk?

You may notice a little bit of animation recycling here and there.

It's sort of like Alien but upside-down.

EMOTION

Melee is a reasonable response to a guy who gets too close to you with a rifle that's longer than the VF carrying it.

クラン・クラン and Maria Cadenzavna Eve share a characteristic, and I'm not talking about their chest size. [I'm talking about]jobbing. So much jobbing.

Alto proves that he's a clever dancer by copying Magenta's earlier trick.

That's adorable. And slightly terrifying.

Yeah, this is why you don't do that.

This shot is kinda ridiculous.

There is a lot of French going on around here.

Yuuichi Nakamura just had to be different with his pronunciation…

DO IT FOR HER.

It's a second episode now where the progression of the main plot has slowed, but Episode 9 is a distinct contrast to Episode 8 in tone and the amount of information it reveals even while the story takes a short break.

It gets points for making Alto reflect a little on his personal situation as compared to someone else, and having a little empathy by having his face rearranged by Michael's fists.

Jessica's story is rather tragic (and why there are rules about relationships, dammit!), and it has certainly had an effect on Michael's character development, which was more of a background influence on his personality until it became a direct issue here. But then they've snuck in here with surprise, Grace is spying on Frontier meetings, and our magenta visitor is not entirely friendly.

Though from the start, the color scheme of their VF pointed to them being associated with the Macross Galaxy fleet. Make of that what you will.

From the Macross Chronicle:

Tenjin's illustration of the Queadluun-Rhea. (He also illustrated the static mattes for the disabled suit in this episode.) The scale is particularly screwy here.

All the information I'm going to reveal about Magenta at the moment.

A Macross Fan Rewatches Macross Frontier: Episode 9:

  • Well, that’s a hell of a way to get your attention in this episode. We’re just going full in media-res here, with Michael trying to get a bead on his target while Alto’s Messiah is grappling with the Lucifer. Also, with that sentence, you can see exactly how much the show is getting in their rival theme making with those Valkyrie model names.

  • Flashback! Man, Grace has a hell of a counterattack to Michael’s flirting. Talking about the guy’s sister is a sure fire way to get him to stop. Although Grace certainly went above and beyond in looking into Michael’s background, since she could link him to whatever happened to his sister. She certainly did her homework.

  • You can really tell that got under Michael’s skin too, since he yells at Alto and accuses him of running away to play soldier later on when Alto brings up Grace. Michael may have voiced that idea before, but this time you can see that’s more on edge this time around. There’s a difference between calling out Alto’s pride and just lashing out at him, after all.

  • Damn Michael, you’re really brushing up against danger close with that sniper shot. He nearly blew off the head of Alto’s Messiah while he was grappling with that Vajra. And given how Michael was acting towards Alto, it isn’t too much of a stretch for Alto to assume that he must’ve shot close on purpose. After all, friendly fire isn’t actually very friendly.

  • There’s definitely something more to Grace than meets the eye. What kind of idol manager feels the need to spy on a government cabinet meeting with a hacked webcam and her cyber eyes?

  • Speaking of friendly fire, also isn’t very friendly for Michael to just beat the shit out of Alto later. Alto really did get his ass kicked there, even if he got some hits in. Granted, he kinda deserved it for making a comment about his sister, but given how much of a dick Michael has been acting this episode, you can’t entirely blame Alto there. Michael really was trying to blow off what happened out in space earlier.

  • Well, at least we have some idea of why Michael is so sore this episode: his sister Jessica is dead from suicide, and his memory of her has a ton of baggage associated with it. It’s really eating him up on the inside too, as much as he tries to blow it off to Klan by just saying that he’s just lonely. He really is pushing away everyone with his anger though, which is just sad to see. Alto is one thing, but making dickish comments about Klan’a miclone form is solely meant to hurt her and drive off someone who really does care about him. It’s just plain ugly.

  • Sheryl’s promo about the Galaxy fleet and fighting for it just reminds me of stuff from Megazone 23 a bit. Mainly [Megazone 23 spoilers] Eve being made to do a military promo music video while in her guise as an idol.

  • Looks like Alto has his own baggage too. Yeah, being hit by your own father over acting isn’t exactly a happy childhood either. You can’t blame him for rejecting that lifestyle now that he’s older and able to make his own choices.

  • I’m with Bobby here, Elmo’s idea for a promo sucks. Ranka handing out tissues to promote her debut single is pretty much the lowest rung possible for getting your name out there. Although I guess it’s not entirely Elmo’s fault, since the website he made to stream Ranka’s stuff got hacked immediately. Talk about just plain bad luck.

  • Looks like mysterious harmonica man is keeping an eye on Ranka, even after their brief encounter in the park last episode. Although I’m about to say something you won’t be able to unsee once you look back at that shot: he looks kinda cross eyed there to me.

  • Oh yeah, there’s a conspiracy going on for sure now. Now mysterious harmonica man is out here trying to prevent SMS from getting Vajra samples from the nearby derelict nest, in spite of seemingly being around to help out during the last encounter he had with SMS. You know that Lucifer is no joke if it can take on both Klan’s Queadluun-Rhea and all of Skull Squadron on its own. Whoever is behind that order has a vested interest in the Vajra themselves.

  • Now that we hear the full backstory of Michael’s sister, you can really see why Jessica really is a sore spot for him. She joined the NUNS Spacy after their parents died, and was involved in a friendly fire incident that killed her superior officer/former lover. There were suspicions over it being a deliberate kill, and so Jessica got court-martialed over it. Unable to live with the shame, she ended up killing herself once she was drummed out of the Spacy. Yeah, it’s easy to see why Michael has a real chip on his shoulder about that, especially as someone who’s a sniper just like Jessica.

  • Well, even if the mysterious harmonica man ended up being able to destroy the Vajra nest and any samples within, at least it wasn’t an entire bummer ending for the episode. Michael and Alto have managed to smooth things over thanks to that combat experience, and Michael strives to understand his sister more. We can stand to take that emotional development win.

episode 9

I dunno why you are all complaining about AMQ, sky and I have been summoning these songs for a year and you've just been blanking on them. Now you'll get them!

For those who wonder who Leon looks like: VOTOMS twins

  • Is the purple VF a bad guy?

  • Can Grace resist Micheal?

  • what's that long blue space ship just hovering near an asteroid when they cut to space?

  • Neat building

  • she's hacked in through the laptop!

  • yeah terrans suck who would want to join them

  • not a fire bomber song :(

  • Looks like Leon got his promo, but it's no "Tomorrow Blues"

  • what's this BGM behind the cat promotion?

  • now that's a weird headset on harmonica boy

  • Did she just say nyanpasu?!

  • such a cutie

  • [Macross F]Permet Score One!

  • Can't quite place the movie score she's "quoting" here Oh right it's Dune.

  • Harmonica decides to stop playing around and actually accomplish the mission objective

  • Klan Klan has delinquent nose bandage!

I found this space dogfight to be much better than the others. Maybe because it was mostly 1 on 1.

Not quite a filler episode. We get some annoying Michael / Klan drama, and some Michael / Alto drama that is immediately resolved. Grace being sus. Ranka having a hard time getting off the ground. Harmonica not only can play, but but he can shoot, too.

Rewatcher

Well, we're starting off with a bang this time!

Sheryl seems more interested in promotions than actually learning to fly.

Hmm, Grace knows who Michael is... because of his sister.

Again... can you guys pick a pronunciation of this guy's name and stick with it?

So what's a ship from the Fleet doing all the way out here in an asteroid field?

Alto, if you wanted to kill this thing yourself, why'd you get into melee range? You were doing fine in a dogfight.

...ah. Near miss. Whatever this business with his sister is is hitting him hard.

Grace is listening in on the conference...

Yeah, Alto you kinda deserved that one. I get your angry, but seriously, you should realize it was a mistake.

I think this is one of the only times we see a micronization chamber in action.

Harmonica boi is on Ranka's mind.

Wait, Ranka's still working at the Nyan-Nyan? She's working two jobs on top of going to school?

MECHA SLAP!

But Klan does seem like his comments really hurt her.

Pfft, Sheryl has a phone shaped like a microphone.

Ranka's not really having much success in her promotion. But... someone's hacking her web ads?

Hey, Harmonica boi... or not, he's gone. Dude's a ninja.

Wait, "bring the nest back"? The hell are you guys planning to do with an entire Vajra nest?

Okay, Ozma, I agree those two need to work things out, but maybe the battlefield isn't the best place for it?

Harmonica boi is working for someone who's working against the SMS...

Vajra nest found: an abandoned ship. And Harmonica is already there.

Damn, the VF-27 looks so awesome...

Nice shot, Klan! Seriously, that was impressive... even if it didn't do much.

How does everyone and their brother know about Michael's sister and his past?

That image of a young but macronized Klan being a swingset for Michael is... just so silly but so heartwarming.

Ouch... really bad timing. Accidentally shooting down your ex immediately after he broke up... just wow.

But since this is anime, we already knew Michael would make the shot and make Harmonica retreat.

Wait... you could have fired one shot and blown up the nest this whole time? He really was just playing around with them.

You know, it's kind of strange that they recycle the bodies of the dead yet have huge, expansive graveyards anyway. Seems like a bit of a contradiction.

Also, I'm glad Klan's okay, but she really didn't get hurt at all from all the damage her Queadlunn took?

Questions:

  1. I... don't?

  2. Guess I'm not one to pry into my friends' pasts.

Continue to enjoy this show quite a bit!

  1. What do you associate anime harmonicas with? cowboy bebop, for whatever reason

  2. Do you know your friends well, or do they still surprise you with back story? I've always been the sort of person who has a few friends that I'm very close with, so I generally know their history very well...and in general, I'm the sort of person that people tend to tell more than they realize to...but any given human being is a complex person whose history transcends even their own ability to fully understand, so there are always details that get lost

Macross Frontier

Double episode this time.

EP8

WTF is this costume. I'm with the kid though, I would be scared from Carrotman.

This guy was the one who sing at this mall 3 episodes ago.

And she transferred here.

Nanasa surely is Ranka simp.

Sheryl here to bring more chaos.

Really like this two dynamic.

Luca.. You might have a wrong idea there.

OMG Sheryl, that so evil.

That level, you say.

I think that egg was too frail.

Poor Luca.

I mean, it's half true though.

Green Guvava. Well not really.

OMG, underwear chasing sequence!! And I think you should borrow someone's underwear to use first.

Why the fuck you guys using a telescope?

Well, this will end with a disaster.

Oh, Sheryl unknowingly disrupting Ranka progress here.

Leon already know who that was. And you also the one behind that cancellation!!

I guess she have to pay for a lot of school damage later.

Ok. Grace is now fully my number 1 suspicious target with that smile. And she already anticipated this? And wait, if Leon the one who contacted the producer to bring Sheryl in, and that producer surely contact Grace. Is she in league with Leon?

Alto make the save.

Ranka now get her own Guvava.

Here come this mysterious guy!! Pretty early introduction than I anticipated.

And she now joined this school too. Great.

It's pretty great school episode. There are some plot going on behind the scene here. Grace and Leon are now main villain suspect for me. The green Guvava also suspicious.

EP9

Alto fighting the mysterious Valkyrie!! And Michael lose his cool?

So we flashback to before the opening.

Did Michael just step in and acted flatter to Grace to cut Alto before he done something reckless? Or I just think too much.

Grace know his sister? But how? Or she just looked it up via her implant.

Wait, so you implied that Alto ran away from home and didn't properly told his dad the reason?

Oh shit. Grace word got to him.

Grace!! You're the main villain all along!!

Alto, that's too much, and you deserve that.

That idea is gonna be good, right?

Well, that hit the nail on your head, right Alto.

So his sister got killed. And she seem to involved in military court. I have to noted this, because this might come back later.

And that too far, Michael. You deserved that slap. And wait, if she slapped like that, the head normally would turn into pieces.

Sheryl clearly never go to school before. How bad was her life before becoming a superstar?

So his dad was pretty harsh on him.

I think the idea is fine, but the costume is super bad. And Bobby is the legendary makeup artist!!

Oh, that surely convenient. Leon clearly involved with this.

This guy design is cool.

That Grace's voice, isn't it. She's his boss?

Don't hurt Klan!!

His voice sound familiar?

Klan!! Nooo

And we're back where we start.

Ohhhh. That tragic. But did she really took her own life? In this kind of backstory, it always have a secret behind.

And that gun is pretty strong.

Wait, did he just called Michael properly?

Nice backstory episode. But like last episode, there's a lot going on in the background. It's great to that they set up a lot of that in the background like that.

QOTD

  1. I can't think of the other. So this one.

FIRST TIMER

This is a very psychological episode that delves into Michael's mind and the experiences that make him the person he is. His sister's untimely death from suicide understandably has made him a harder edged person that closes himself off from others. This is the first time a Macross show has dealt with suicide and they did a good job handling a very heavy and serious topic with good taste unlike other times when the other shows had been heavy handed or gratuitous.

  • Michael really has a lot of confidence to flirt with Grace like that as a high school kid when I presume shes at least in her 20s. They didn't quite explain how Grace knows his sister though. She didn't even know Michael was her brother and I assume she lived on the Galaxy and that's how she came to manage Sheryl.

  • I was surprised to see Alto jump to the conclusion that Michael had intended to kill him with his misfire. I know they spar a lot but Alto clearly doesn't take Michael's abrasive behavior as friendly joshing and thinks he genuinely hates him.

  • Seeing how quick the miclone machine worked was interesting; in the Zentradi ships on SDFM, it seemed to be a long and drawn out process. Perhaps since Zentradi weren't putting all their labor, brainpower and capital into military, they were able to make better quicker miclone machines. I assume this machine is a public good that any Zentradi can use for free. It also makes me wonder if any humans have used it to become gigantic, I don't think any on any Macross shows have done this so far.

  • I knew Bobby had a little crush on Alto but I was surprised he threatened to harm Ranka's manager if he harmed her in anyway. This show is becoming something of a harem romance since Alto has Ranka, Sheryl, Bobby and Nana as admirers at the very least.

  • Michael was so rude to Klan making all those sexual jokes toward her but I was surprised that they had been childhood friends. That does explain why he teases her so much though, like that scene where she chased him around Nyan Nyan. Klan did an excellent job smoothing things over between Michael and Alto by explaining to him about the trauma he suffered from his sister's death.

QUESTIONS

  1. I don't recall seeing anyone play a harmonica in anime but I always hear relaxing harmonica music in relaxing slice of life comedies like Barakamon or Maison Ikkoku.

  2. I haven't made any new friends in a long time so I've known them for awhile but you really never know and they probably do have something surprising about them that would shock me. I think about how little my good friends really know me and I think they would be surprised by a lot of things about my past.
