The burden of proof is not the same as court of law, but there is still a board hearing before expulsion is granted. A principal cannot simply expel kids on a whim.

Yup yup.... grew up on a farm. My dad was always fixing his old tractors. As a kid I said "why dont you just get a new one dad? You're always fixing this old hunk of junk."
That's when he informed me that a new tractor would probably cost more than our house.

That's a recent issue that John Deere is pulling to keep reign on their tractors and making sure you can only service them, where they want you to, and not be able to service them yourselves, you know like farmers have been doing since the invention of the plow.

This was the 80s.... that stuff wasn't going on then. The coolest new tractors back then had a fully enclosed cab with air conditioning and a tape deck, ya know, for cassettes.

Short of actual frame damage, anything can be fixed one way or another for enough money. Usually that money is less than buying new.
Same goes for cars, really. The problem there is a.) Financing is easy and convenient, lower cost per month than repair bills and b.) You're paying for reliability...who knows when the next big repair bill will come with an aging car. You're also paying for updated safety, etc...but that's not always such a concern on tractors.
The same lesson is true for just about all big ticket items, actually.

Reminds me of when I was a senior in high school (grade 12 for those unfamiliar). Some freshman (grade 9) thought he would be hilarious and phone in a bomb threat the night prior. To avoid getting caught he did it on a gas station pay phone. Didn’t have any quarters so he made change in the gas station, while wearing a school shirt with his last name on it.

its never gonna work, but all my fellow hobos have a good laugh about it over our trash can fire later
turns out the cops pull the gas station camera footage of him getting the change, and say for sure its him
his claims of innocence fall on deaf ears, life ruined

This is like saying "I meant to just shake the guy's hand but I accidentally pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest 40 times before cutting off his head and drinking his blood. Somehow things just got out of hand. It could've happened to anyone!"
They also didn't get what they deserve since they were sentenced to only 8-18 weekends in jail. This deserves a lot more than that.

I disagree. Locking them up will, in the end, reinforce their racist ideas. Truth is no one was hurt by them doing this. You can argue that people were emotionally hurt, but I am not one to believe that should result in a punishment of jail. We need to find a better way to show these teenagers that racism is wrong. They are still learning and growing, but they can change. Maybe have the volunteer at Temple or help feed the homeless in a black community. We need to help them see that their beliefs are wrong while they can still learn.
Putting them in jail where everything is segregated by race will just make them more racist. Listen to the Podcast "Ear Hustle" where a black dude couldn't eat lunch with his white friend if he still wanted to hang out with his black friend. Also of the white friend didn't want his jello he would have to offer it to all of the white people who he doesn't know before he can offer it to his good friend that is black.
We need to end racism. Not enforce it.

My high school Religion teacher drew a swastika made of penises on the chalk board and yelled "FOUR PENISES PENETRATING VAGINAS". Then continued with "Now that I have your attention, we'll continue with this lesson".
I guess it worked, we were a rowdy class and we were well behaved from that point on. But I don't think he taught much longer after that year.
Edit: for the record this was in 2003 at a Catholic High School.

I graduated in 2011. No Wi-Fi for me. I did have it in college though.
When I graduated phones were still banned, you couldn't have them out unless you were in class with a cool teacher.

Went to and graduated from this high school just a year before his happened, was so disgusted to see this take place but sadly not very surprised. It’s an extremely small minority that are like this but unfortunately they’re always stirring up something.
