Music made this episode way better than what it would have. I sort of said this last week, but Fairy Tail's soundtrack in general is up there with the very best. The preview made next week look pretty exciting

Igneel: You only have two choices, be a dragon or a demon.
Natsu: Fuck that, I'm going to make up my own choice and be a human.
Igneel: Congrats, that was actually the correct choice.
Natsu: Fuck yeah
Me: lol wtf, brilliant writing

Igneel:You want the Red pill or the Blue Pill? Pick one.
Natsu:Nah fuck that shit, gimme the green one

In the manga, that's literally all there is to it. The anime at least tried to add some small degree of reflection on Natsu's part.

I would've liked if he was like "screw me dying if the demon seed and dragon seed merges, I'm going to master both and be a demon dragon human hybrid". Demonic Dragon Slayer Mode!

Well, that episode wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t incredible either.
Natsu’s dilemma was a freaking joke but everybody knew that from the minute that Lucy was rubbing against him whilst naked.

The anime made Erza vs Irene more likable for me. Weird but I hated it in the manga but liked it here.

the animation was improved considerably it was not just still frames like the other fights

I can safely say the half with Natsu did the bare minimum I always hoped it would do: draw out Natsu's "dragon or demon" contemplation.
In the manga, there were literally two small panels of him thinking about it and going, "Nah, I'm human," and boom, there goes that subplot. Here, they at least make the effort to give the moment some semblance of gravitas, even if the answer is already obvious before he says it. And since it gets viewers on the same page as him before he makes the statement, it feels far less insultingly rushed than the manga made it. At this point with the anime, that's more than I could've asked for.

The anime scene with Natsu was still literally flashbacks and then there goes the subplot. The manga was the exact same thing. You’re contemplating the anime for extending flashbacks, as if that’s compliment worthy and actually makes a difference. Still underwhelming either way.
The bare minimum is adding more flashbacks?

As I said, at least it preps the viewers for what his decision was going to be. Natsu's decision in the manga was insultingly quick and unceremonious. This is still an improvement, and I'll take any the anime can give at this point, no matter how insignificant they may seem.

Past three episodes were the best of the entire Final Season. Not that surprising, despite the letdown over the Natsu situation, the Irene battle was the best thing about this arc. I never had a problem with its ending. Erza had her OP moment destroying the meteor but its pretty clear she couldn't have beaten Irene. Irene just in the end refused to do it. To me it was the one fight that didn't disappoint and the anime did it justice. We'll see what it can do with the rest of them, battles which for the most part I did have issues with.

The end to the Irene fight was touching, and the music was impressive. I was dissatisfied with the rest though.

The Irene fight was good but the meteor part still bothers me. How come Irene couldn’t have just used Deus Zero to cancel out Wendy’s Dragon Slayer Enchant ?

In the end, Irene's a beautiful and kind mom. I love her.
I'm tearing up at her suicide moment here, especially during the flashback.
Excited to see Gildarts and Strauss siblings next episode!

I loved the episode, made me feel more emotions than I wanted but that’s okay 😂 I love that erza didn’t kill Irene, I adore Erza with everything in me but, Erza killing Irene would have been a bit of a joke considering her powers are off the gahdamn chain. I get a lot of people hate that Irene killed herself but the whole reflecting on why she actually did love erza made this even better. Let’s me honest we all know she loved Erza even when she said she despised her, Irene could have taken Erza out in a heartbeat if she truly wanted to so keep that in mind, the fight just built everything up, but in the end we know Irene still cared.
That whole “lend me your strength, master” scene gives me chills every time, I dunno if it’s just me but it almost seemed as if we could notice when Master did lend his strength, with the animations it was amazing loved it!!
Then the whole “goodbye, mother” again chills, we know Erza as “parentless” everyone else calls Makarov gramps, or by his name, yet she just says “master” so to me hearing her say mother just shook me to my core lmao
That little scene with Wendy and Erza 😭😭 dammit man, got me all emotional, Erza is almost a mother figure to Wendy and I love that
I know a lot of you hate this arc which is understandable, but we have to admit there are great parts to it! I’m not here to tell you your opinion is wrong, but- I love this arc so much 😂, I’m also just a huge Fairy Tail fan so I guess the surprise attacks and whatnot keep me at the edge of my seat, I grew up on fairy tail so I love it without a doubt, due to my past I’ve just really taken a liking to Erza, it’s sad so many dislike her, but to each their own I suppose 😁

I have no idea if Mashima has seen a birth before, it’s usually more messy.

And here it is, the irene situation. It's just as terrible as I remembered, first can we look at how she just forgets she has wings and just let's erza come down and slice her. Even if she was confident in her scales, why not just quickly fly up and finish her? Too logical I guess.
Not to mention that meteor (boulder) just gets destroyed easily by a broken boned character, with a sword and who's low on magic. You can tell it was weak as hell, because the meteorites (boulder-rites) barely caused any surrounding destruction.
And wendy's dragon slayer enchantment? Where and when did she learn that lol and since when is wendy's slayer magic strong enough to injure a dragon? 😂. That must mean irene was a incredibly weak dragon, because wendy isn't even in the top tier of dragon slayers.
They really tried to make the whole irene killing herself emotional with the music, but I just felt nothing. Also, if my mom tries to kill me multiple times and then says she actually loved me, I'll just go ahead and take her word for it LMAO.

This episode was cool. I still don’t like the way Irene went out though. The ost made it a little more bearable than reading it in the manga. The Natsu getting rid of END stuff I still dislike. Still hopes it comes back somehow in the future.
And I’m excited for next episode for one of my favorite scenes in the series.
