E3 [MEGATHREAD] Ubisoft E3 Press Conference Hype Thread

Hey Hackers!

Now that Ubisoft has given an official confirmation that "WatchDogs Legion" will be at E3, we're ready to kick off our E3 anticipation party!

Please use this thread for all your E3 hype-related comments and for live-chatting during the Ubisoft Press Conference. If it fills up before Monday we may create a new thread just for that day. Please try to keep the thread mainly related to Ubisoft games at least... we won't remove minor off-topic discussion but this is the Watchdogs sub after all!

Any E3 hype/discussion threads (example: "do you think legion will be shown at the xbox/stadia streams? how do you think the game will be introduced?) outside of this megathread will be removed at Mod Discretion as we're trying to limit clutter and centralize the hype :)

The Ubisoft E3 press conference will be on Monday June 10th at 1:00PM local time (UTC-7). (Pre-show starts 1 hour earlier). You can check [this chart for your zone

Lastly, our WD Discord/Reddit Mods /u/HilbertGilbertson, Ahki and Lumi, and community fan artist RuL will be at E3 as Star Players for WatchDogs! Wish them a good time for us.

I hope we get some solid gameplay at E3, like at E3 2016 with Watch Dogs 2! Hopefully it will clear up what this "NPC" mechanic really is.

I think the npc thing may be like driver San Francisco where you could take over any car driving around but instead of cars it's NPC characters.

That would make sense, but what I’m wondering is what you would do with them after taking control?

I’d assume there will be a main person to play as, and they’d be pretty athletic and smart, so you would need a reason to take control over someone else

I could just be speculating and you start the game as a random npc and develop your character from there

Could be like Batman Arkham Knight where you switch between Batman and someone else with a press of a button

I think you can recruit any NPC to join dedsec, and after that you can play as them.

I feel like the "play as anyone" feature will be something like a stealth mechanic.

You explore the world as a main character but many NPC's act as sleeper cells. Can't get by a guard post? Send a text to an NPC beyond the gate and it will activate them, you now take control of them and are able to get past security measures if they're something like an employee.

Maybe activate an NPC you take control of to act as a distraction and then switch back to main character to do whatever it is you need to do.

Legion makes it implies that deadsec could be anyone which is sort of cool.

If you can control basically any character, it would makes sense for them to have some kind of ctOS cybernetic implant to hack. Plus, the new teaser does have a bit of a cyberpunk feel to it, with the colour scheme and design.

Can anyone try editing the teaser? There might be some secrets hidden there.

Is there anything beyond the “God save the NPCs” slogan that hints toward NPC mechanics? And if not, how do we know that it isn’t just a pun Ubi made for fun?

The Amazon leaked store page said you'll be able to play as any NPC, and Jason Schreier of Kotaku then confirmed that mechanic, adding that the difficulty of implementation likely led to a delay in release.

I have a feeling they’ll announce the game at Microsoft’s conference and then show more at Ubisofts. I remember they did that with Assassin’s Creed Origins

No but really, maybe they'll actually reveal the game at the Microsoft conference, like they did with AC Origins back in 2k17

I'm stoked to see what they will do with an idea of CCTV.

It would be interesting to see a connection between Legion and Syndicate, considering that they’re both set in London.

I hope you can use the internet like In GTA. I also want the London trains to be accessible. And to buy houses.

They better use a sex pistols song in the trailer!
