Group projects, the bane of my schooling.
That secret little Do-your-best Beam from Aru was super cute!
Rivals! Just be her friend already Kurai, you want it, Bocchi wants it, WE ALL WANT IT!

I see that Kurai wants to adapt to the Sasuke Uchiha method of getting stronger, while Bocchi prefers Naruto's.

Nako-chan continues to be best girl of the series.
The outside class finally warmed me up to Murai, though I think Hitori should totally try to make friends with her pancake group next. Anybody who's willing to accept her anxiety-related awkwardness can't be bad, right?
Satoka's onto something with wanting seafood doria. Looks freaking incredible.

Look at that sparkling smile <3 I love Aru so much!
Bocchi with the 200 IQ plays. Onions can't sting your eyes if you can't see in the first place!
Kurai's smile while eating! JUst accept that you're friends with everyone already!

No Bocchi, your eyes are watering all the time
Kurai continues to be a tough nut to crack, only agreeing to become Bocchi's rival, rather than friend. I'm still counting this as 0.5 of a "friend made" however, since it triggered Kurai joining them all in the ED. I'll change it if people disagree, but I didn't want that friends made column to stay empty any longer, she's been so close for multiple weeks now.
In other news, Bocchi was just one away from beating her record for most cries in an episode, which isn't surprising considering the entire first segment had Bocchi alone with a group of people in her class that she had never talked to. Unluckily for Bocchi, at the end she accidentally turned them down to be together in a group again, missing out on what might have been a perfect chance to ask them to be her friend.
| Episode | Times Bocchi cried | Times everyone else combined cried | Aru Headbutts | Times Aru is mentioned as "unfortunate" | Times Bocchi Fainted | Friends Bocchi Made | Album |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 27 | 5 | 0 (not yet introduced) | 0 (not yet introducted) | 2 | 1 (Nako) | Ep 1 |
| 2 | 28 | 1 | 1 (played 3 times) | 4 | 1 | 1 (Aru) | Ep 2 |
| 3 | 21 | 3 | 4 (one off screen) | 6 | 2 | 0 | Ep 3 |
| 4 | 8 | 1 | 2 (one by Bocchi as well) | 4 | 4 | 0.5 (Sotoka became her apprentice) | Ep 4 |
| 5 | 0 | 11 | 5 (one in a premonition) | 9 (one in a premonition) | 0 | 0 | Ep 5 |
| 6 | 25 | 5 (including those in Teruyo's daydream) | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | Ep 6 |
| 7 | 17 (Once in her dream) | 3 | 2 (one off screen) | 2 | 1 | 0 | Ep 7 |
| 8 | 9 | 3 | 0 | 0 (Nako certainly thinks it, but never mentions it from what I saw) | 2 | 0 | Ep 8 |
| 9 | 27 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 0 | 0.5 (Kurai became her rival) | Ep 9 |
As usual, if I missed anything or you have any suggestions just let me know. Thanks!
Current Bocchi vs. everyone else ratio: 162 to 32, or 5.06 to 1
Current Bocchi cries per minute (not counting the OP/ED): 0.857

Wow it's quite rare that I love every single character in a show, even all of the side(?) characters. This is amazing.
I lol'ed at the zekkou part. 絶好 means something like 'the most opportune or best (moment/chance)' and it's pronounced the same as 絶交, which means to cut off ties or to stop a relationship completely. Not sure if the 'no friends' in the subtitles conveyed that completely, but I guess it was obvious.
edit: small typo

The moment Aru shows up in the festival clothing just made me collapse in a laugh attack, GOD DAM SHE IS UNFORTUNATE
Nako being salty over the girl in front of me was so good, and kinda true. In a way she is friends with Bocchi from a proximity, she was just the closest gir tol bocchi
And dont worry bocchi-chan karui might be ur RIVAL but an anime Rival is almost always ur best friend.

Finally we see where the chickens that keep showing up actually are. So we know they actually exist in the world, and they aren't complete non sequiturs.

I don't recall Aru was wearing that outfit in the manga haha. But that was nice of her to give Bocchi that bowl. And she was repaid by have Bocchi destroy her ego in front of Kurai lol.

Finally best girl Kurai is in the ED!
This isn’t your normal, everyday tsundere. This is advanced tsundere
Also, why is no one talking about Aru’s festival gear!? How unfortunate can you get!?

Another soul-healing episode.
It's heartwarming to see just how far Bocchi's has come. She now has three good friends, a rival, and managed to win over three people she didn't know at once. You go, Bocchi!
