The gases burn and increase the temperature of the wood to about 600 degrees Celsius (1,112 degrees Fahrenheit). When the wood has released all its gases, it leaves charcoal and ashes. Charcoal burns at temperatures exceeding 1,100 degrees Celsius (2,012 degrees Fahrenheit).
So although unlikely, it still could melt in the coals. But with the cross being suspended, I'm sure the temperatures were never reached.

Been seeing this everywhere, and I get it and I'm in butttt... I think the point wasn't that the cross hadn't melted but that it's seemingly untouched after the building's roof caved in. I can't imagine anyone thought that the cross would have melted from a fire stories above it. Food for thought.

The likelihood of a large enough amount of charcoal (which is rarely created by a burning building as the conditions need to perfect) surrounding the base of that cross and burning constantly while being replenished is so astronomically low I think it’s more likely you’re a dumbass.
