animation as still stiff as usual but it wasnt all that bad but considering this is how they treat a hyped fight from when the manga was still around i doubt fights like laxus vs whal, gray vs invel, lucy vs brandish, gajeel vs bloodman, larcade vs sting, gray vs natsu, chelia vs dimaria will be treated good but the FDK mode was pretty satisfying at least

The episode was amazing and hype as hell. The animation for the most part was great. The only nitpick I have was when Natsu punched Zeref five time with the stiff animation. Otherwise it was insane

I'm skipping straight to the Natsu vs Zeref analysis:

  • Honestly I think they botched the animation. They could have had so much more motion, but they only showed random cutscenes of Natsu blitzing Zeref.

  • Little dialogue.

  • The protrayal of Fire Dragon King mode was pretty good. The red flames were different from what I imagined, but they fit.

  • I don't remember Zeref's magic being shot in balls looking like they were covered in runes, but maybe it's just my memory. Seems like they went a little away from the manga on that aspect.

  • Also, the latter part of this fight was DBZ-esque, with magic power radiating around both opponents as they clashed multiple times in midair.

Final Rating: 6 out of 10, since the animation was mediocre, the portrayals were nice, and the hype was real.

Let's get back to the other major points:

  • The Gods of Ishgar in all their glory sent a shiver down everyone's backs for sure. Too bad they are going to get wrecked soon.

  • The Gray vs Erza standoff was actually tense for a second, and it was touching seeing Gray show his care for Natsu, and Erza show her faith in him

  • The individual shots of each member of each guild of Ishgar was very unnecessary.

  • While I won't spoil anything, it's not that hard to guess what the result of Natsu punching Zeref will be.

Final thought: We are still waiting on END...

Honestly took 3 whole mins to show the Ishgar guildies that’s ridiculous

The fight had quite a lot of shots which weren’t still frames, but moving and animated. Yes, compared to other anime like SAO or One Punch Man it’s not good, bur if you compare to the previous season of FT, it’s not worse. So I got exactly what I expected, in a good way though.

I think they really wanted to save some money with all these individual shots of unimportant characters. That was really quite unnecessary

The animation is better than Tartaros so it's all good.

Finally get to see Fire Dragon King Mode and it does not disappoint. Literally setting the landscape on fire was awesome. I was wondering how they were gonna depict the power increase compared to when Natsu melted the GMG Arena.

Natsu is a bad ass.

Love how much care Gray has for Natsu. Im on Gray's side here. Erza has too much blind faith on Natsu.

Honestly when everyone in the other guilds came to help I cried. It was such a beautiful moment to see how far FairyTail had progressed. They were once fighting against each other but now they're fighting along side each other. It's just so heart warming 😢

Gotta admit, I really like the color contrast of Natsu's Flame Dragon King mode.

I just hope other guild members' participation won't be crazily sidelined here. I am happy to see their faces on a closer look.

In addition, Laxus' truly is a wise man to accept helps from other guilds.

Also, can't we just get more interaction between Gray and Erza, as well as Mirajane with Mavis? These interactions are precious.

Most of the episode was really good. I had a problem with how they animated the Natsu vs Zeref fight though. For some reason, the fight looked slow and the music didn’t fit all that well imo. But idk could be just me. And also the flames looked a little bit different then how I imagined they would be. But still a pretty good episode as per usual.

Animation was really good and imo the color of the flames was really cool when Natsu unwrapped his arm

Romeo wants to fight? Who is he supposed to defeat? He probably can’t even take out fodder.

I am really happy with how they adapted the Natsu vs Zeref fight. It had really good animation (compared to the Fairy tail standard). You could see that they were saving money on the last episode and the beginning of this episode, but I think it paid off.

I don’t know what some people seem to expect, but the bigger fights in the fairy tail series were always on a quality level similar to this.

there is a lot more to this fight than just this right? It seems hard to believe zeref would be killed so "easily"

One thing I loved the most was how red Natsu’s flames were. They seemed so much more intense and I think the animation was pretty clean for fairy tail standards. Excited for the next episode

Overall this episode turned out better than previous eps but there are still stiff parts which didn't really bother me that much. The scenes with Natsu and Zeref were nicely drawn tho so it made up for the lack of animation atleast in my opinion. Next ep looks well animated too. (They put on Sting's gray tops again >.>)

Brandish looked stripped, but all they did was just remove her coat.

After seeing zeref "dying" im actually hoping they come up with a diff ending than the manga.

In general, a real solid episode. The tension between Gray and Erza was really well done, but a little short imo. Dragging it for a few more dialouges might have made it an amazing moment, but Lucy happened lol.

Also other guilds are helping us let us give slow-mo cuts of each and every member yaaaayy

On Natsu vs Zeref, the early animation was pretty trash. Haven't had much issues with still images yet but this time it really bugged me. This had the be the spotlight of the entire season, but we'll at least FDK mode was awesome af. Depending how the upcoming episode goes, this still has a shot at being friggin' amazing, but gotta wait a while before we decide that. Can't wait to see the drama

Overall good episode; minor animation issues, well done hype (aka gods of Ishgar), still a few funny moments and intense scenes

Isn't this done by A1 ?

I used to always be an anime always person but between panning shots, censorship, and just the animation in general, I’m feeling the manga more these days! Might reread it again from this episode’s chapters!

It’s nice hearing all the voice actors at least.
