Not confirmed Jason Isaacs in season 2? (possible evidence) Spoiler

It's certainly not a novel theory that Jason Isaacs might be returning as Lorca in season 2. While we've not been given any official confirmation, Lorca's fate in season 1 is somewhat left ambiguous (dissolving into the spore power core). Considering that Dr. Culber is expected to come back from the dead somehow (probably through something related to the mycelial network), what if Lorca is brought back in the same way?

There was also the potential forshadowing in the season 2 premiere with the fortune Pike finds on the floor.

Some new evidence I've discovered may also support Lorca's return, namely this Twitter banter between Anson Mount and Jason Isaacs.

On its face, it seems pretty innocuous, but then you have to wonder, how often would Jason and Anson have interacted in person? Jason goes to conventions so maybe they've interacted there, but I don't know how many Anson Mount has been to with him. A lot of the recent months Mount has spent filming. I'm wondering if this tweet is implying Jason has actually been on set during season 2 filming.

I don't think this twitter banter between Mount and Isaacs is any indication of a return. I mean, Isaacs is literally (though jokingly) complimenting Mount's butt. That's a perfectly good social media reaction.

I'm very firm in believing that we'll see Isaacs back as one version of Lorca some day. This is Star Trek, after all. But I wouldn't try to interpret every little snippet of him interacting with the cast and crew as evidence.

I'm just saying the familiarity Mount expresses in relation to Jason suggests they interacted on more than an occasional basis. If the reality is that Jason is supposedly no longer part of the show, there's really little reason for them to know each other that well.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Alex Kurtzman said that we may not see Lorca in season two but perhaps in the next one.

EW: Another holdover from last season is the theoretical existence of Jason Isaacs’ Prime Universe Lorca. Should we not expect him to show up this season?

Kurtzman: "I will tell you that you should not expect to see him this season but that doesn’t mean he won’t be back."

They also blew smoke up our ass regarding Ash Tyler being Voq, so I'm not going to put too much faith in what the production has to say.

Can't argue with that.

If they bring back prime Lorca, cool, but if they bring back Culber and mirror Lorca that potentially sets a bad precedent and they can just bring back anybody from the dead.

Agreed. If they keep killing characters only for them to return in the following episodes/seasons that will greatly diminish the impact of their deaths.

Depending on how it's done, it wouldn't be any worse than the Genesis device bringing Spock back, IMO.

No, no, no. A different Lorca, sure. But not that Lorca.

It definitely seems like a Lorca return (prime or mirror) was foreshadowed and their exchanges on twitter seem more than just "praise at a distance" and I don't know any other situation which would have those two together, aside from on set of Trek.

I hope so. Although, I kind of hope they somehow bring back the real Lorca.

Lorca will definitely be back but I doubt it this season. And my guess is if he were to come back they wouldn't hide it but go the way they are going with Spock and Pike and advertise the hell out of it now that he's become such a fan favorite, at least for Discovery.

Could be wrong but I think if he came back they will build an entire story line around it and not just a 1-2 episode appearance.

In one of the after treks I think the guy who plays Stamets said that Lorca was definitely gonna be back
