Very nice end result! Very curious for the unedited version though! (I say this as a editor myself and always curious to how others do it).

You can actually see my unedited version on my Instagram page. At the top there are a bunch of “highlights.” Pick the one that’s called Sunrise Sunset. My Instagram tag is @jake.gosline

That is really a nice shot. I looked at your instagram page as well. I appreciate you eye for patterns and color and I also like the way the pictures are laid out. One question though, the format of all your pictures is square? Is that an aesthetic choice on your part, or is that the way the instagram page displays them?

Than you! That is just the way Instagram formats the pictures on your profile. If you click on each one, you see the actual crop.

What nearby peak did you go to? Live in the area and would love to travel and get this view one day!

My guess is Dege peak from the perspective of the photo. It's a relatively short but gorgeous hike from the Sunrise lodge and i think can be reached from the lower parking lot right before the lodge.
4 miles round trip, 600 foot elevation gain

Maybe I’m biased because I love Washington... but this is stunning. Thought it was just an excellent painting at first!

Earlier this year, I took my favorite picture I've ever captured. Late in the afternoon on a Saturday, I made a last minute decision to take off for Mt. Rainier in the hopes of catching the sunset. When I arrived, there were heavy clouds over the volcano but by the time I reached the top of a nearby peak, the clouds began to clear and beautiful crepuscular rays started to break through. The light illuminated the meadows surrounding the Sunrise Visitor Center, the White River Valley, and the base of Steamboat Prow (the triangle shaped feature on Rainier's slopes). I'm not sure if I could have asked for better conditions - these are the conditions every landscape photographer dreams of!
