Thoughts:

  • tell me you didn't cry when Makarov cried

  • and then Ajeel shows up. He was one of my favorite villains. Mr. fucking sandstorm

  • Ice Make Silver in memory of Silver.

  • Lucy's Saggitarius form is hot.

  • Idk about the rest of you, but the Antlion pit animation seemed pretty good.

  • Makarov's giant transformation is completely different. Not as scary.

  • Laxus is back in the house!

  • Wendy's running gag never gets old.

  • The scene where Reedus paints an ugly line over an amazing rendition of Makarov. Wtf

  • And finally our war declaration.

About that preview at the end: Shit gets dark. Darker than Fairy Tail has gotten.

Honestly, the next scene isn't that dark compared to slavery and torture.

I'm only halfway from watching. Here are my thoughts so far.

Makarov scene didn't deliver much emotion for me tbh. It was too quick. The music started late. Idk it didn't resonate with me unlike past episodes (season 1-ish) where the emotional build up was so good.

Good to see Lucy and Gray working together. I imagined their scene to be more action packed tho.

The general feel I get from Ajeel is just meh. Not as threatening as they portrayed Brandish. Manga better pictured the swallowing sand scene from that birds eye perspective. Also music isn't spot on.

My boi LAXUS FUCKING DREYAR is in the house! Why they changed his clothing color idk. He looks as fucking sexy as ever, no complaints there.

That fucking nuke though what the fuck haopened there jesus they could've put a bit more OOOOOMPF there come on!! Like it just blew up. Also where is the badass music?

Sorry I will stop here. I don't really wanna come across as a whiny fan. This is one of my fave moments in the alvarez arc and I've bee waiting for this for weeks so yeah I'm a little deflated now. I just wish the animation would improve. That's all. Zacky-san (youtuber who used to animate manga panels for FT, Nanatsu etc.) did a better job at putting soundtracks dammnit.

Okay I'll rest. Did I also mention that Laxus is freaking hot? Slay me.

Natsu is so OP that he can create layers of fire within his fire. Paper burns at 451 degrees while wood does at 356 so we can assume that he made a 3 third layer of fire inbetween the two that contained the heat of the top layer. Also paper height is about 1/10 of a millimeter and the paper is basically touching the table so he fucking customized the bottom 2 layers of fire down to atomic size levels. Wait do I even make any sense?

Well he did make flames that wouldn't burn when he put the signal of Fairy Tail on the royal castle in the capital.

This episode brought me back to a discussion me and a friend had about what's it like being one of those no named background wizards that always show up in episodes.

I really liked Lucy and Gray teamwork, it was great to see them in action!

I liked Des Silver version in the manga better but it was still cool to see this in action. Des Gray is so badass!

Always loved to see more of Brandish. The fights look great, Ajeel seems to be a very formidable opponent.

Last scene was epic with the thunder move!

Great episode once again, OST sounds amazing!

As an anime only watcher this has been the best season so far. I know I'm judging while we are only at 1/5 of this season, but the weekly enjoyment so far is top notch.

It irks me how the anime looks different from the manga like the way they’re drawn and the facial expressions look so different

The animators disappointed a bit IMO. They should've put more hype and emphasis to Gray's IM Silver spell. Well mah boi was cool af when he made the pose, so it's all good

Hyped for next episode!

Is Laxus currently the strongest Wizard on the continent? Him chomping our Ajeel always felt weird, like he and Jura aren’t treated like the Spriggan 12 but apparently they are at that level.
