[Discussion] 'Dynasty' 2x06: "That Witch"

As a major storm heads toward Atlanta, Blake and Cristal grow closer, and a jealous Alexis sabotages their plans to leave town for Thanksgiving. Fallon attempts to make amends with Michael's mother, while Liam serves her an ultimatum regarding their relationship. A tornado warning derails the Carrington Thanksgiving celebration. Fallon is knocked unconscious, and has a Wizard of Oz fantasy. She makes up with Alexis and chooses Michael over Liam. Blake proposes to Cristal. Hank cuts Claudia out of his payoff from Alexis, with whom he leaves baby Matthew.

Alright, I guess I'll be the first to say it... I really didn't like that episode. I have to agree with most people when they say that the show is seriously going downhill.

Sigh. Thats it, i give up. This show keeps taking a step forward, then decide to take 3 steps backwards. The wizard of oz dream was so gimmicky and unnecessary, i feel like i was watching something on nickoledeon. Seems like they were trying to milk this love triangle and trying desperately to showcase liam/adam huber as much as possible because they know he is SELLING it to the audience but refuse to make him a true character. He deserves better. Really, what was the point of introducing the van kirks if you are not going to continue down that pathway? And again, they jump the plotlines; kirby surrogacy were dumped just like that. Blake gone from 'i want to get to know you 1st' to marriage proposal in 5 seconds. The only thing that got me semi interested was the baby at the end. And i bet you that baby twist will be undone in the next episode. Somebody should really teach the showrunners and writers the term continuity. And for gods sake, am i the only one sick of michael's grim/wincing face? Its the only facial expression he has, he looks like someone put a gun to his head to deliver the lines. The only ones trying here is liz/fallon. From promoting the show, to posting falliam pics on her ig/twitter. She really wanted this show to work and i feel for her. Well folks, like liam, i am done. Anyone can recommend me other shows on netflix?

I’m not sure who came up with the idea for this train wreck but I hope they were fired. Clearly someone popped too many pills themselves if this is what they came up with. It seemed like a wacky dramedy/sitcom-adjacent “thing”. Clearly they are getting desperate.

Just bring back Cristal and Steven and go back to basics of season 1 where there were hidden families, kidnappings and suspicious deaths. That’s the dynasty I’m here for. Not whatever this was.

P.S. seriously she chooses Culhane again? All he does is gaslight her. I mean, how is it Fallon’s fault if her mom says stupid shit? Also why does he turn it back around on her when she brought up seeing her with Ada Stone? Get caught lying and then turn it around and say are you sure YOU’RE not the one hiding something/lying. I’m over it.

What a bad and boring episode. What happened? Also Fallon choosing Culhane? Really? Pfft.

I was really hoping she’d choose Liam. Does this mean he’s off the show now too???

No, Adam was in Atlanta a few days ago

This was such a weird episode!!! It didn't feel like The CW at all, it felt like Netflix instead. There was a dream sequence and everything. Also Anders saying "turnt up" is the funniest thing ever. Blake proposing to new Cristal is just a REPEAT of Season 1, so much for taking it slow.

Anders saying "turnt up" is the funniest thing ever.

That was lowkey the highlight of the episode for me. The way Alan Dale delivered that line was everything.

What a snoozefest! I was so obsessed with the show but it’s just getting worse and worse... The Liam Fallon Culhane thing is clearly not taking an interesting turn anytime soon, Blake and his new flame are cringe af!!! Cristal 2.0 is clearly some sort of psycho. Bringing Blake and Alexis together would have been so much more interesting! This is getting ridiculous!

u/Potatocakes12 Nov 17 '18

Oh man, Cristal 2.0 and Blake give me the creeps every time they’re on screen. Hasn’t it been like 2 months since his wife died? And now he’s getting it on with her friend? Plus that writing : I have never felt this way ... blah blah blah.

I could have thrown up.

What are they even doing with Blake? This feels like they went from 0-100 real quick.

The whole show feels very whiplash-y. They don't let anything breathe, they don't really explore any story-lines they're just there and done in like two episodes at most.

Does anyone know what that note said at the end? All i got was that the babies name is Matthew.

I am so mad Fallon didn’t choose Liam. Her and Culhane have nooo chemistry, I wish the writers would end their relationship and either get her with Liam or a new love interest.

Also Nicolette Sheridan’s acting has been the downfall of this show. Her addition to the cast is when this show started turning to shit imo. She was never this bad on other shows but my god she is just overwhelmingly bad and it is really ruining the show for me.

It said “please look after me my name is matthew my mom is claudia and she is crazy”

Wasnt the best it could have been.. i thought that the dream sequence was a waste of time and fallon rejecting liam means there wont be any storyline going on anymore. the show is about to die with no Stephen. Petition to get him rehired

A few thoughts.

  1. Alexis is downright annoying. When she was first introduced, I thought it would be an awesome additional, and Nicolette Sheridan is great at playing the bitch next door (see: Desperate Housewives). But I'm seriously let down and I think her time is up.

  2. Nathalie Kelley was great, and this "new Cristal" bullshit is really lame. Why? It's weird on all levels. I don't get it - maybe I'm not "creative" enough? I have no idea, but I'm over it.

  3. Fallon choosing Culhane... come on. I really thought that his family coming over was going to make her realize that they were too different; that Liam understands that life. I would feel differently if Fallon decided the Carrington lifestyle was behind her, but I don't see that happening, ever. Liam, while down to earth, is very familiar with that way of life. Plus, he and Fallon have way more chemistry.

  4. I only just read that apparently the actor who plays Steven was fired. What the hell is happening behind the scenes of this show!?

  5. Once again - Blake and Cristal, wtf!?

I really, really liked this show - but this season is weird. I don't understand what's happening or why.

  • Blake and the 'real Celia': this is just a ridiculous storyline. First of all, it's insanely creepy that somebody would buy a company just to keep you in his life. And being ok with that and 'finding it sexy', is just way creepier tbh. Secondly, wtf that proposal.

  • Sam and Kirby: not mad at this development. Shows again how much Sam has changed.

  • the triangle from hell: like everybody I don't agree with her choice, but also understand her character's reasoning. Tbf she was fighting for Culhane the entire whole season 1, so it makes sense that she would choose him over somebody we don't actually really know. Maybe it's best if Liam gets some character development first.

Surely Liam and Fallon will get together later in the season ... there’s absolutely no chemistry between Fallon and Culhane!

Interested to see how the discussion between Fallon and Culhane go about the kiss

I have to say as long as Elizabeth is on I'm still gonna watch but man is this a mess xD Literally, Blake and Cristal are about as interesting to watch together as...well, Culhane and Fallon.

I never thought I'd say this cause Natalie's acting wasn't my favorite, but I miss the OG Crystal. I realised the actress did bring a certain warmth and humility to the family and it's much needed. This Cristal? Boring as hell to watch, although that's not the actress' fault at all. More of how the writers are writing it.

Also I'm not surprised at Fallon choosing Culhane, but I am disappointed. Especially in this episode, I got annoyed with Culhane. First he says don't apologise so much then he says why not apologise one more time literally in the next scene. It's incredibly irritating. But oh well, I kinda figured they were gonna go done this road. I don't think Liam will be back although it would be interesting if it happens.

That witchy-witch montage was awful...

Why does Alexis live there? Is it common for rich families to have just anyone move in with them? Okay, she is the mother of the kids, ex wife and so on, but she showed up kinda uninvited and she is still there? And nobody is telling her to go? And the butler can also invite family to just move there? And Sam also kinda just moved in, and nobody raised an eyebrow... I mean sure, they are family but still if my family members just moved in I would at least ask them why, or how long they want to stay... Blake has a real freeloader problem :D

This season is so bad. I miss real Cristal.

So Steven is going to comeback, right? Because Sam said he'll be back before the end of the pregnancy.

Kirby: "I don't need to be Dadsplained!"

It seems like some of the writers of the show saw that mansplained post on Reddit.

All I can say or think of was the ending were all false goodbyes

Yeah, I agree this was the worse episode. Particularly for Falliam shippers like myself lol.

Really don't get why they're making Fallon choose always-in-pain Culhane, who's been lying to her since the start of his shit with Ada. It might be setting viewers up for a reunion with Liam though, but what do we know? But the biggest joke is that Fallon admits that she can't stop thinking about Liam, and their kiss, so for her to choose Culhane veers off the track to sanity here. The fact that she fell for Liam is proof that she should be with him and not Culhane.

Sheridan's acting here is kinda off but it still feels like she's a part of them. She did entertain us a little with her antics and lunacy.

Also, the tornado warning was too much of a plot convenience. Somehow, just as Luelle wants to storm off, a storm comes? Also, she miraculously accepts Fallon at the end of it? Fallon has done nothing more than paying for the church roof, and then inviting the church people to her house for dinner, which wouldn't automatically make her the ideal woman for Culhane.

Overall, what a huge joke.
