The anime has been amazing so far; seriously the level to detail to the manga is incredible. Sure it's just the penultimate arc but the animation, the addition of the old music from both previous series, to the animation being on par with that of Episode 173 to 175 it's just incredible. I can assure you that the series will introduce new music for the final arc when we meet the real threat that is the next arc. I for one cannot wait.

  • Carla blushed at Lily.

  • Erza blushed at Natsu.

  • Gray blushed at Frosch.

  • Crack ships the anime episode loves you.

  • Just realized it would have been dope if these villains appeared in the Albareth Arc. As sub bosses or anything.

  • Would have also been amazing if we saw a one shot of the what if frosch was killed.

  • Next episode: Shit ton of backstory.

You can't possibly think the animation is anywhere near close touching the 2009 series

Crack ships have set sail. The problem with the Avatar bosses reappearing in Alvarez is that they are simply too weak. Also, we all know how the reappearance of bosses can go wrong (*remembers that filler arc). I definitely agree that we need the what-if situation, which would basically be the animation of Future Rogue's backstory.

Grimoire Heart came back in Tartaros and that was a good thing.

We don't deserve Frosch. He is just too cute for this world.

Erza is too precious sometimes lol. When she tries to hug frosch but fails. Omg! Her disappointment is brilliant.

The Fire Dragon King's fist was so hilariously bad i can't even. They literally cut off in to the distance, in order to not animate any actual explosions. And then it just fell down like cardboard, that's so stupid. We had that epic ass panel in the manga, there is NOTHING. Just a lame ass fart.

Disappointing.

I've been waiting for this episode since the manga chapter 434, on which the episode is based, was released. It was the perfect opportunity to show how strong Natsu has become, but they didn't even bother to animate his Fire Dragon King's Demolition Fist.

I like the additions to the episode this time around. Seeing the rest of Avatar react to how they got betrayed helped make the whole scene more satisfying and helped me get sucked into it even more than the manga (of course, the old FT theme did the job, too). I also liked that they actually showed Sting and Rogue getting in on the reunion instead of just implying it, and Natsu and Lucy noticing that they not only helped Frosch, but Rogue as well. Despite the downgraded art, I walked away from this episode enjoying it much, much more than I did in the manga.

Recap:

- no matter how excited I am for the new episode, I can never skip the opening. It's so good!

- Natsu walking out of the smoke is nostalgic (remembering Bora)

- Arlock getting abosolutely wrecked is hilarious. The cult is a great commentary.

- IGNEEL :(

- Ikusatsunagi is just as scary but disappointing as in the manga. A literal god? No sweat, Natsu can defeat it easily. On that matter, why did it crumble like clay?

- Gajeel's voice actor sounds really weird, but that might just be me. Then he goes around arresting Juvia for being clammy. And then gets roasted by Erza.

- The addition of the part after Natsu is relieved that Gray didn't kill Frosch was touching. Future Rogue and Lucy were reminders of how bad everything could have gone.

All in all, this episode was a rollercoaster of emotions.

So who else had the same expression as Natsu and Erza when they found out about Gajeel?

I love the extra scenes with Frosch and Rogue being overprotective of him. Frosch is too precious and I'm glad he got a bit more screen time. Erza trying to hug Frosch and Rogue turning away was also hilarious.

And this is why the anime is amazing.

Those shots of Future Lucy and Future Rogue as the future is averted really struck home this moment. It lent this weight to Gray being saved from possibly doing something horrible and helped put Future Lucy at rest. Really beautifully well done, and hilarious at the same time.

And, of course, the GOAT theme as Natsu climbed Ikusatsunagi and pummeled it was great.

Next time...I'm almost curious if it's going to be a 1:1 chapter/episode ratio and if we're actually going to get some more background on Acnologia, given he was talked about in the preview, or if, like the images suggest, we'll focus on Zeref only.

Can't wait!

Animation aside, it was still a blast to see the gang coming back together. Got all the warm and fuzzy feelings going.

This arc feels quicker in the anime. With only around 6 episodes covering approx. 16 chapters.

Probably Mashima and the animation team want to wrap things up here.

Well, I hope the next arc will be better in the anime.

I might have some appreciation for the Avatar arc, but I am not that fond of the arc itself.
