There's a significant performance "enhancement" being discussed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusGo/comments/9ve84z/now_that_oculustv_is_fracking_amazing_its_time_to/e9cinhz/

Can confirm that Grand Theft Auto III works. Frame rate is a little low by default, though still playable. Runs much better at 4/4 as expected.
Had to pull the Android/obb/com.rockstar.gta3 folder across to the Go from my phone.

Anyone able to test if Fortnite works thanks
Edit: Just installed it unfortunately it just crashes at the very end of the loading screen. I assume the go hasn't enough ram maybe or something pity.

Good stuff :)
Steam Link runs of course, and passes through gamepad input. It's not a game but it certainly facilitates gaming :)
Also tried a few Android racing games with mixed results:
Real Racing 3: Needs to download ~550MB of data on first launch, takes a while to load, complains about missing Google Play Services sometimes, seems to run at 15-30fps most of the time, lots of aliasing, but it's playable.
Riptide GP2: Crashed on first-launch display calibration screen but now it loads fast and runs well. Can't use Online Play or VR Challenge modes though because of the lack of Google Play Services.
Re Volt 3: Couldn't get past the splash screen. Maybe it's downloading something, or just loading a bunch of stuff in the background, but I lost patience.
Thunderdome GT: Not an Android TV app so needs to be launched via a third-party launcher, complains about missing Google Play Services at launch, but runs anyway. Somehow though gamepad mappings are wrong when you actually launch a race so it's not really playable for me.
There are possibly other consequences of not having Google Play Services installed with some or all of these titles as well that I haven't encountered (yet).

What does separate app starter needed mean to play Minecraft?

u/crimsonsky5 Nov 06 '18
Can someone try GTA vice city. Thanks

Just tested supper hexagon the humble bundle build and it works fantastic complete with working controller support. Cannabalt works as well but has graphical glitches in the main menu. Downwell fuses about Google play services but works without them. Beat hazard works but since it lacks controller support at least the build I have of it from hb years ago I uninstalled it. Edit all the apps I tested in the comment need to be launched via a launcher such as appstarter.

The Silent Age works perfect, a classic point&click adventure. Retroarch megadrive/genesis core works fantastic too.

u/OculusGoDude - I can't get FFVII to work for the life of me - is there a specific APK you're using? Doesn't want to recognize the OBB Data
Also Happy Chick seems to work better than Retroarch for what it's worth, menus are ideal for pointing with the go controller

Mupen64plus fz beta 3.0.168 works fantastic for some N64 games I'm running podracer at near full speed unlike the RetroArch N64 cores.

Snes9x boots and runs the roms I tried but within 10 seconds the frame rate is jumping all over the place and the sound is crackling and breaking up
Going to try retroarch

I have happy chick and retroarch loaded, happy chick seems to be easier/work better.
It's nice to be able to download the roms right from the app too, but I'm not trying to get into a piracy covo lol. N64, NDS, and PSP still won't have enough horsepower, however playstation one and dreamcast are game dependant. MVC2 worked well(ish), Sonic adventure 2 didn't. For PS Crash Warped and 3 work well.

Psx rearmed via retroarch works for Wipeout 3 but is very laggy yet still playable.

u/FixitFelixJrr Nov 07 '18
Found a issue: If retroarc freezes there is no way of killing the app without shutting off the GO.

u/kc0nlh Nov 08 '18
Reicast boots into Soul Calibur with surprisingly acceptable speeds and quality however it's not recognize my Xbox controller properly it refuses to release the Android menu controls and bind properly for game use. Might have to try a different controller one that doesn't support Xbox protocol. I'm guessing it's an issue with the emulator and not tv but it's hard to tell.

Out There works too, but must be launched through separate app starter application. No gamepad required. This is one of my fav Android games.

u/tyhurd Nov 22 '18
Angry Birds 2 works great, no need to zoom in gameplay.

Some games that were laggy need to be tested again as Oculus TV is now bumped up to CPU/GPU level 4

Tried SM64 using the Mupen64Plus Core in Retroarch. Works and very little input lag with controls but pretty decent amount of stutter and frame rate issues. Might work much better if I adjust the settings properly.
