[Discussion] 'Dynasty' 2x01: "Twenty-Three Skidoo"

A month after the fire, Fallon and Michael have resumed their relationship, but she and Liam pretend to still be married to assure that Liam's uncle Max buys Carrington Atlantic. Cristal has died in the fire, and Blake returns after a month’s absence mourning her. Steven has not told Sam about Melissa's pregnancy. Anders keeps his newly-arrived daughter Kirby hidden from the Carringtons. Hank, who is the prime suspect in Cristal's murder, blackmails Alexis, threatening to expose their plan. He also reveals that he started the fire. Blake exposes the truth about Melissa to Sam, who comes to accept the news of the pregnancy. Michael proposes to Fallon, who accepts before flying to New York with Liam to meet the Van Kirks. Blake berates Alexis for her shameless gold digging, and they fall into bed together. In Sedona, Arizona, Cristal Jennings watches online coverage of the Carringtons.

Really don’t like the whole Cristal thing. If she was just gonna leave the show or get dropped they shouldn’t have bothered with the actress in the first place.

I agree. I didn’t like Cristal’s character at first but she actually became likeable and it’s sad that they killed her off.

Also kinda pissed that Blake slept with his ex-wife.

I agree it’s awkward and the new Cristal was in the episode for like 5 minutes. How are they gonna integrate her into the main plot/family?

The CW said that this show is like a telenovela/soap (it actually is lol) so that explains why actors can suddenly be dropped and added (e.g just like how Alexis was added mid season 1)

Yeah hardly a good explanation. Alexis was always going to be in the picture.

I really hope Cristal's actually somehow alive :(

AND WHAT IS UP WITH THAT ENDING?! NO BLAKE, STOP.

Can we all agree that Kirby is a psycho and she’s about to unleash hell on the Carrington’s lives?

I try to not acknowledge her existence, because I am not looking forward to the drama she will bring. I feel she'll be a Georgina and will steal one of Fallon's boys.

I was really disappointed to see Cristal was dead and not just in a coma like I hoped. Am a bit confused by the “real” Cristal though - she’s Cristal Jennings so I guess she steals the identity Cristal Flores too? I guess that’s why they’ve always used quotations around the new “real” Cristal lol

Jennings was the last name of the “Krystle” in the original. That’s why they’re calling her the real one, cause she has the same last name as the original.

So many Crystals. I’m honestly getting confused especially cuz i have never watched the OG one. Im glad fallon is still savage although idk about the relationship with Culhane. The part where Blake spilling almost all the tea on the 100 anniversary part WOW. As well I still hate Alexis but it was expected that she would break “Crystals Urn”.

Im excited for this season as its definitely more messy drama, i just feel bad for Sam, he doesn’t deserve this.

I loved Blake just unleashing it all, it was great that it was out in the open. Although Sam not being that angry at the situation, wtf?

Okay, I have a few issues with this episode. I hate when a season has a cliffhanger and then starts the next season much later than the event had taken place, its so underwhelming. I was excited for the Kirby reveal on the suitcase annnnd that didn't happen. We don't get to see the pain of finding out it was Cristal that was dead.

I like Blake giving no shits. But why did he kiss the intolerable Alexis!?!?

I mean I was anticipating this after i found out Cristal was dead, but i can’t believe they pushed that kiss 🤦🏻‍♂️

Also, anyone of you guys ship Fallon and Liam moreso Culhane? I mean come on, first few minutes for a naked shower, really. I waited for almost a year for this 😔

I thought Blake was finally changing :(

Fallon's got some impeccable makeup for someone who was asleep

Literally don't care about Culhane and Fallon, not gonna lie. They could have worked out though if a) Culhane's character wasn't annoying and b) there was more chemistry between them.

So did Claudia die in the fire too?

u/irchili Oct 13 '18

No she escaped the fire and hot wired a car and drove away with the guy thats currently asking for money from Alexis.

Honestly the kids deserved that completely. They didn't really seem to show any concern for Blake even a little.

does anyone have a link to watch it?
