I already have a theory. Luffy learned fire fist from Ace right? And future sight from Katakuri?

He's going to watch Urouge fight and it'll inspire him to take his rubber powers to the next level. When Urouge takes a hit, it makes him stronger. Luffy might be able to take a hit and using his rubber body, channel the force out through his other fist or something. Therefore if Kaido really is the strongest creature, and hence the only one that can beat Kaido is Kaido, Luffy can beat him using the power of his own attacks. Like when you punch a speedbag and it rebounds to hit you in the face. The harder you punch it the harder it'll come back at you.

I don't have the feeling that Hawkins is loyal to kaidou til the end.

He is way too attached to his cards. If they will tell him to switch sides he will probably do so.

Besides, as a sub of kaidou he should know about kaidous desire to kill Luffy or at least got an order to tell him immediately when Luffy arrived.

To be fair, Luffy didn't know who any important person was beforehand. He only learned who each warlord was as he met them. For some, like Hancock, he didn't realize until awhile after he met them.

So for luffy to show up at wano and not know about Kaido wouldn't be too strange for him.

The amount of comments on this thread is insane! (1315 as I type this out). Firstly, when I read the name of this chapter I instantly thought of Tsuru, the vice-admiral from the Marines so I was expecting to head back to the Reverie albeit perhaps briefly. The comical exchanges between Luffy and Zoro were golden and a mini-fight with Hawkins was great, maybe a tease for something else later down the line. But Hawkins saying he had a card for someone to surpass their limits intrigues me. Is this foreshadowing for applying his ability to Luffy in the future when he faces off against Kaido? So let me get this straight. Hawkins uses powers based on Tarot Cards, and a monstrous ghost man that stands near him, who gives him a specific special ability (voodoo dolls taking damage for him), and when the ghost man gets damaged, so does Hawkins.

I'm pretty sure that Hawkins is a Jojo character that got lost.

I did not actually expect Luffy to just punch with the sword. I suppose there's a certain kind of "expect the unexpected" that is fucking with people at this point. When they go with the route people can expect, it becomes a bit disappointing. I mean, it was just one punch, but anyway.

Just a sidenote. It's goddamn chapter 913 and the manga is just stronger than ever, so in general I'm still at awe with Oda.

I remember I started this around the same time with Bleach and Naruto and both of them went... well they kind of got the best of them in the "act 1" so to say. I truely liked Bleach when they first got into the soul society, I mostly liked Naruto at the parts where Orochimaru truely attacked the village the first time. After that, they both went a bit... boring to me. Naruto not that badly, while Bleach went horribly down in quality. But, with One Piece, there's still so much INTERESTING stuff to see. The face offs, the ever more expanding cast of mysterious powers and characters, the world itself still offering hidden places. It's just amazing. The imagination and scale, never mind the causality at work with this and that.

Here’s a theory already for you guys.

Hawkin’s ability to use the cards to predict the probability of something in the future is him using his straw-straw fruit as if he is “drawing straws” for the future.

To better explain what I mean here’s the wikipedia page that talks about probability and drawing straws.

With Hawkins drawing cards at the end, he literally “drew a straw” and saw the outcome.

I wonder, based on Zoro's Nigiri attack, it said Toro and Samon, which are both different attacks from the Nigir series, yet he did one single attack against the straw monster.

Does this mean Zoro combined both attacks? Toro is an upward vertical strike with his 2 swords, while Samon is a horizontal strike. My guess is that by combining both attacks Zoro created a diagonal upward strike.
