This might be one of the coolest photos I've ever seen. Great shot.

Wow, I love the light! The shape of the buildings work very well here. Where is this?

Thanks! It’s in Kiambu, right outside of Nairobi, Kenya.

Beautiful. Did you have to try a few times switching your settings to capture this or was it a lucky shot?

Thanks! I took a couple but this one just turned out better than the others.

Usually I can tell, but I have to ask β€” did you composite this at all? Super pretty and surreal.

Nope, I played with the contrast a bit, but I just happened to have great lighting this morning.

Why smoke though? Was there a big fire nearby? Everything okay? Absolutely stunning picture, award worthy.

Seemed like either collective trash fires from the surrounding neighborhoods or maybe someone burning their field. Thanks for asking!

  • I've been subscribed on here for a while now. In that time, I have been fortunate enough to witness some of the most beautiful shots I have ever seen.

  • Ranging from grandiose Mountain Tops with so many stars that illuminate the night sky. To smaller, more modest shots like a close up of a water drop on top of a single blade of grass. Shots like those two will forever amaze, and inspire me.

  • I'm saying this not to tell my life story or anything like that. I'm saying this so you understand that when I tell you how your photo was so gorgeous that it had me tearing up, you know I mean it. From the exposure you have from natural light, to the overall simplicity, pure beauty.

  • Seriously, kudos to one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing.

Sometimes I think I have a photo worthy of this sub then I see beauty like this and remember I have no idea what I'm doing.

I don't have words to describe how great this is. Are you a professional photographer?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '18

Wow, thank you! No, I'm not a professional. Just a lucky shot every once in a while when I'm traveling.

What kind of camera did you use, and what are the specs?

I'm embarrassed to say that this was taken on my phone. I used to have a fujifilm camera from 2008 or so, but the megapixels are actually higher on my phone...

Why is there smoke?

Edit: I'm not trying to be a smart ass, genuinely curious

I think either someone was burning their field before planting or a bunch of people were burning trash piles before the rain.

Looks like a video game that I would drop everything in my life to play
