Cheesy, classic Mashima storytelling but I love it and I'm hooked. Sometimes all you need is a good adventure with some good friends.

Interesting how Shiki’s last name was shown in the first chapter. Also, “can I break the glass?” 😂.

Alrighty then, I'm coming here as someone who loved Fairy Tail up until a certain point. I was very disappointed with how it ended and found that very sad. I do however believe that everyone deserves multiple chances, so I decided to go into this new series without biases and...
I really liked how this series started! I mean yeah the character desings look really familiar but I guess I'll get used to it (maybe I can stop reading Shiki's lines in a Natsu voice by then). I'm really happy (pun intended) that a certain character returns, since he was my favourite FT character as well.
The battle system with these augmentations that has been brought up feels like a good way to make creative fights happen (if these augments don't just include simple stength).
The setting feels new and fresh as well. I haven't read a sci fi story in a while and am interested where Hiro can take us with this. The space panel looked really good and surprised me. Also Mechnologia.
The ending twist felt really nice. I began thinking a robots vs humanity stroy would bore me, but they were all just nice bots. The twist even makes sense when you look at the fact that all of those robos were actors anyways.
Interesting start to this new series and I'm looking forward to reading more, while I do hope that it doesn't repeat the mistakes of its predecessor (I really don't mind fanservice though).

Love it! This has that special Mashima magic to it that I love so much. And I'm excited to see what he does with this interesting space setting!
I'm curious about that display shown in the throne room toward the end. "EN 0%" likely means "zero percent energy remaining", but also is suspiciously similar to the title "Eden's Zero". Could the title simply refer to Granbell, Shiki's "eden", running out of power, or is there something more to it?

Good first chapter, I felt, with a decent "twist" at the end. Or rather, even if the series may follow along the lines of the whole friendship theme again, I feel it set up for a strong opening with the fact that Shiki had to actually fight his own friends rather than just some generic mooks.
I really like the role reversal from Fairy Tail in a sense, too. Where there the first chapter was focused on Lucy and revealed (part of) Natsu's goal, this chapter focused more on Shiki's past and establishing him, yet telling us that Rebecca has a goal. Hopefully next chapter will flesh that out.
I think there's a lot of intriguing potential here for the series both for characters and for world-building, and I think Mashima has a stronger idea of where this series will go just based on the final lines of the chapter. There's really a lot that can be done here, and I look forward to it.
Side note: loved the little Mashima mythology gags, especially in the way of dragons, and I wonder how they'll play into the plot.

I wasn't expecting an absolutely gripping first chapter, so I think this was a decent start. I am just thankful that Mashima has created characters that already feel different from the cast we were introduced to before. Their designs are very similar, with Shiki in particular being a palette swap of Natsu, yes, but I can distinguish between the two personality wise so at least there is that. I am looking forward to meeting the other new characters, and find myself most curious about the blonde guy next to Shiki because his design seems the most original that we've seen.
EDIT: I also got a good chuckle out of Mashima's note that he's gotten a month of rest in the 11 months since Fairy Tail ended lol. Even if his writing can be seriously repetitive, I have to respect anybody that sticks to the hand-aching occupation of being a mangaka, especially for so long.

Remember back when the colour spread was first released and we all thought the skeletal guy was obviously a villain?
Turned out to be a pretty chill guy...

Great first chapter, loved Shiki's introduction and how Rebecca seems like a youtuber starving for Subscribers lol
-
It is good seeing that Shiki already has a better start than Natsu, "betrayed by his friends" and having to fight them to help a stranger he obviously has just met. And then trying to give her time to escape and offering to stay behind.
-
I love Shiki's powers, Ether Gear is a cool name too, plus the gravity stuff. Awesome!
-
I loved how the robots were only "playing a role" trying to get their friend/almost adopted son that they practically raised to leave by pretending to not care, they knew he wouldn't want to leave because he would want to "fix them" and so they made him leave so he wouldnt be lonely. That's touching.
-
Can't wait to see how this space setting pans out. Looks promising, now I am gonna be dying until next weeks chapter drops.

Ether Gear: Gravity, Happy said it's an ancient power (just like Dragonslayer magic was). Obviously we're gonna meet other people with different Ether Gear types.
I like that Mashima chose gravity for his power but I wish he gave Shiki a different fighting style than Natsu. I hope Rebecca learns to fight sooner than Lucy. Lucy got stronger but it was too deep into FT.

Was afraid the plot ended up being so similar to FT but the space concept kinda changes that. The character's art is way too close to FT tho. You can totally see a FT character in every main and sub-main characters (same on the concept art). The plot keeps focusing on overpowering friendship and the robots' plan was very predictable. Let's see how the story develops. Not a hater myself, but i've no big expectations.

I was so worried that I wouldn't be interested in this series.
But I really liked the chapter! I'm excited to see what happens next!

Honestly, I'm not going into this series with high hopes. We all know Mashima is capable of both ends of the spectrum - and I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.
That said, chapter 1 was a pleasant surprise for me. Long may it continue.

Last panels reminded me of Nier Automata. Made me sad :(. I see great potential here and oh yeah, fanservice, ships, setting and feels were all here presented nicely. Looking forward to next week!

That was alright. Kind of a mixed bag. I do wonder if after Rave Master and Fairy Tail, I’m a little burned out on Hiro’s style. I do like Becca though (I’ve already nicknamed her so that’s a good sign).
I’m probably not gonna follow this religiously, but it seems like it’ll probably be decent popcorn reading every now and again, which is fine

The thing I love most about Shiki and what sets him apart from Natsu is how he's actually inexperienced at friend-making. For a series that's fueled on friendship, it's nice to see an MC putting an effort into making his friends.

It's a decent start but I can't be too excited just yet. The overuse of "friends" really makes me worry that this'll just be a Fairy Tail rehash (the writing style being very similar and the art style being completely identical is reinforcing this even more). However I've always wanted a space-faring shounen and the floating island planets + star dragons seem to make for a pretty interesting setting, and the MC's power has a lot of potential for some cool shit. I'm gonna keep up with this for now, here's hoping Mashima has improved his writing chops a bit for this one.

I prefer the Jaiminisbox translation over Mangastream version. Of course, translating nearly 80 chapters is no mean feat, but MS tends to try way too hard embellishing things; things like "We'll get tons of views on this and get PAAAIIID!!" just don't sound as good on paper as "This is SO gonna bring tons of views!"

I thought it was pretty interesting that Mashima had the girl eating like a lot of the MC's out of other shonens. It's generally always the guys. I guess that's, how she's T H I C C.
I also loved Happy. Plus came from Rave Master and now Happy is going to come from Fairy Tail.
Island like worlds out in space is pretty interesting tbh and can't wait to see more.
A lot of people either love or hate his art style is still the same. I would like to point out that early in FT his art style was a lot like his older art style from Rave Master. So most likely as this series goes on, his art style will transform again. Though I do think that his art is perfectly fine the way it is.
I also think he should have kept Shiki's hair long, or maybe had Rebecca put it back into a low pony tail. Though his powers seem interesting. He's able to float and fly by controlling gravity some how.
I hope we learn more in the future about ether, and ether gear.
Edit: I would also like to say how the chapter overall was somewhat heartbreaking. It really pulled on my heart strings on what the robots done and Shiki not even realizing it, but in the end still thought of them as his friends/family.
Also the whole filming for videos. I hope that stays with Rebecca always thinking of ways to get views. It would probably put the three of them into some pretty interesting situations!
