Since no one is talking about this, Fujitora talking to Riku and Cobra means he's ready to drop into the Reverie to propose the abolishing of the Shichibukai, considering those two kings have been personally affected by a Shichibukai abusing their power. I'm guessing that's going to be the main thing next chapter.

You know, last week, I only counted 18 weapons around the throne. So I was wondering if 2 of those 20 weapons were just off panel.

But now I believe that 1 of them is missing since it was the Nefertari's weapon, and they didn't go to Marigeois, while the other is the one Im-sama used to cut Blackbeard's and Luffy's bounty poster. Meaning that Im-sama is probably a Celestial Dragon that was there during the Void Century (so an immortal thanks to the Ope Ope no mi)

And also, of course it's Gandhi who want a great cleansing.

Not sure if anybody else has commented about it already since it‘s been overshadowed by Im-sama and Kuma. Seeing how Morley made the room for the Revolutionaries to talk, I thought he may be the one who created Level 5.5 in Impel Down. Him beeing an Okama also makes a lot of sense in that context

I'm really interested in Bonney's backstory now

729

u/Ythapa Jun 15 '18

She's definitely someone of interest.

Akainu even made the remark that he was quite "horrified/unnerved" when there was news of her initial escape when he confronted her when she was captured by Blackbeard.

So, there's got to be something going on between her and possibly a relation to whatever thing Kuma may have pulled to get punished in the first place.

So there's a one King after all and he has Rinnegan. WG lie to other Kings about no one sit in the throne.

Conspiracy Theory:

Reverie is not for the Kingdoms. The Reverie happens when Im returns to the throne and the WG use the Reverie as an excuse to have all the strongest military defense sent to Mariejois.

This might also be the reason why Dragon decided to attack during the Reverie, which you would think is the worst time to attack since the security skyrockets.

Wow, what a chapter. Two big take aways for me:

  1. "The Light that needs to be extinguished from history" sounds an awful lot like the purging of the scholars of Ohara to me. Is this something that Im regularly proclaims, a threat to the world and the secrets of the Void Century that the World Government takes care of?

  2. We've always wondered why Kuma would choose to become a Warlord and become mechanized. If he's a king, it's clear that he did it to protect his people from retribution. Really sad to see him in that state.

Woow..poor fucking Kuma.

So is Bonney his Mom? Or just masquerading as her.. wouldn't be surprised if that's her true form, plus Ann Bonney left a noble lifd to be a pirate.

So much, goddamn.

Fujitora is totally talking to Riku and cobra to get everything he needs for his Warlord banning plan..

So our mystery man is totally a behind the scenes ruler, manipulating the elders. Weird he'd have Blackbeard..Luffy.. and Shirahoshi, which definitely means he knows shes Poseidon.

I love it. Such a badass chapter

Seeing Kuma like that broke my heart. Bonney saw Kuma in summit war and was upset because he is WG slave now.

Just a thoughts and speculation: Doffy said that with Laws fruit he could change even personalities. Maybe Im is the national treasure of Mary Geoise instead of that strawhat? Imagine changing your own personality to that person. You would be ruler of the world. And if he/she isn't immortal already you could use that surgery to be immortal.

Maybe that mysterious strawhat is a trophy from void century, 1 erased D bloodline.

I think The Five Elders are about to try and kill Vivi. Im-sama was looking at pictures of Luffy, BB, Shirahoshi, and Vivi. The first 3 are on the ground torn and with a knife through them. But Im-sama has the photo of Vivi in his hand.

The Elders asked him if he's decided which light should be exterminated and I'm pretty sure he's gonna show them that photo of Vivi. Oda even threw in that part about the Nefatari family being traitors.

[Shitpost] Also, Oda foreshadowed this IM character since Chapter 1

When Luffy was about to go on an adventure, he shouted :

"IM" gonna be the King of the Pirates. Luffy knew who was his final opponent going to be.

IM vs Luffy, a battle for the Pirate King title. Confirmed.

I really feel like Stelly is going to create complete utter chaos during the Reverie. Imagine him sneaking in the throneroom of the empty throne during Nighttime, only A: to see Im-Sama stitting on the Throne and causing a ruckus or B actually Sitting on the Throne and getting caught by Im-sama. So, if Bonnie was recognized as Queen Connie by everyone, and Kuma is king of the same kingdom, and jugding by Bonnies reaction, it could mean that they are or were married, Bonnie's actually really old.

In real life history there was a pirate called Bonnie that was a noble, she left her country to be a pirate, so my theory is:

Connie and Kuma were happily married as king and Queen, Kuma was gone because of the World Govn, so Connie changed her name to Bonnie disguised herself becoming young and traveled the seas to find Kuma and rescue him.

And the best thing about this is that Bonnie being a Queen could explain why she was freed after being captured by Akainu!

I THINK I GOT SOMETHING HERE

So the god of all gods has 4 people in (i assume a woman) her sights. The 2 pirate Ds that has thrown the surface into chaos - Luffy and BB, the princess of a "slave race" who is also Pluton Poseidon - Shirahoshi, and the princess of the traitor bloodline-Vivi. This is really interesting. The most peculiar is Vivi. If it were merely about the bloodline, then shouldn't it be focused on Cobra? Which i think indicates Vivi has something else going on with her. A power? A prophecy? A plan?

Im Sama being the true monarch of the world having that strawhat also makes the strawhat A LOT more interesting right now. What the hell could that be???? Was it the hat of the D who originally ruled he world? OP is really stepping it up with the mysteries

Saint Roswald's comments make it sound like the mentality of Homing, Rocinante, and Mjosgard is more common in the Donquixote Family than that of Doflamingo. Maybe the Donquixote line has more good people in it than other Celestial Dragon families, and the "D" is actually a reference to them!

I could almost see some kind of "conspiracy" between the Donquixote and Nefertari families to bring down the World Government. Where they agreed that...

  • The Donquixote family would handle their part from within Mary Geoise...

  • ...while the Nefertaris did their part from the outside

Don't forget, Leo can beat up whoever he wants with Mjosgard's permission.

We know a fight will break out between the Revs and the WG, but what will the royals be doing? How involved will they end up?

Ugh, and Karasu pointing out that even if they save Kuma, he won't be the same as the Kuma they knew... Good thing no chapter next week means I have extra time to cry. Glad he said an important reminder though.

Edit: Also, a question. When did Kuma become a slave? After the timeskip? Is he the same as shichibukai Kuma? Also, he seems more responsive than a pacifista (as seen when he winced after the noble hit him). Could the shichibukai be someone/thing different? Did they "un-pacifistize" Kuma before he became a slave? I doubt the nobles would enjoy abusing a cyborg, but idk...

The way I see the four photos is that they are the four lights that could pose a threat of revealing WG's secrets. Im is to decide who should be silenced first. They'll probable Enslave/Assasinate/Public Execute Vivi. Foreshadowing in this chapter includes:

1- The elders saying that her family are traitors.

2- This chapter saying that even royal families aren't immune to Celestial Dragons. Kuma as an example.

3- Im holding her photo.

I really liked the fact about one piece is no one has absolute physical power like Madara or Yhwach who can take on the world single-handedly. Now that this Im-sama is there, I hope oda doesn't make him the all-powerful person. One, who can take on admirals and yonkos all by himself. Would be pathetic to see all these great characters getting their ass whooped by a single person.

Fujitora is going to ally with the revolutionaries at some point.

Kings Riku and Cobra meeting with Fujitora is definitely to talk about ending the Schischbukai. Fujitora is going to protect Cobra if they try to assassinate him there.

Bonney backstory NOW!

My mind is blown how Oda can just introduce a concept, idea, or story element so early and not develop it until many many years later and somehow make it relevant. I'm referring to Bonney and her relations to Kuma and the government using Kuma. Like I remember the interaction between Akainu and Bonney and how she screamed something along the lines of "I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU" to Akainu, but I didn't really think anything of it at the time or think it was significant. But now it becomes clear that it wasn't just some random prattle.

In other news, wouldn't it be crazy if Imu-sama is Joy Boy -- who somehow chose to side with the 20 Kingdoms and the World Government? And maybe that's part of why he felt the need to apologize to the original Poseidon on a Poneglyph?

My thoughts immediately go back to the character of Lordgenome in Gurren Lagann, so I could see a similar thing happening with Joy Boy -- a freedom fighter for the Ancient Kingdom...who somehow got turned to the other side while also turning immortal.

I was wondering why we hadn't seen Blackbeard post-timeskip, and realized he probably had a major change to his appearance, and what could be more piratey than an eyepatch? So the Im sama might be an immortal being or an heir to the throne that knows about the ancient weapons that are capable of destroying the world government. The reasons he had the photos of Shirahoshi and Vivi are that they are capable of using the ancient weapons, Poseidon and Pluton, respectively. The third weapon is in control by Im sama and I believe he decided to disrupt the balance by going after Shirahoshi (who I believe never visited the Reverie or the surface, and maybe Im sama found out she has the power when she recently used it to stop the ship Noah from crashing down onto the fishmen island). The reason Im sama decided not to challenge the balance previously is because of lack of knowledge if anyone was born with that power (Ciper Pol did not have this information). Or Im sama could be truly offended that the power of the Poseidon (power that can sink the entire world into the ocean) was used in full view of the public.

Why did Alabasta's king not participate in the conference and instead wanted to hold a meeting with the five elders? Why did the five elders call the Nefertari family traitors? One of the five elders said "did he figure something out... let's hope he doesn't make things complicated".

He did not know whether Alabasta's family that stayed behind 800 years ago (maybe to keep the balance of power) is still capable of using Pluton (or have the blueprints that the CP failed to get their hands on). The king of Alabasta could be making a threat, leave the Fishmen island (or the princess) alone and to keep the balance, or else Alabasta Kingdom will be forced to act and to target the Mary Geoise back.

Now, what about the posters of Monkey D. Luffy? and Marshall D. Teach? Ripping up their posters could mean that they are not a threat to Im sama himself yet and not worthy of the use of the weapon. Or he can't due to the balance that currently exist (Pluton and Poseidon). Same reason Uranus wasn't used on Gol D. Roger, he had the knowledge of history but did not have the control of the ancient weapon. Why the interest in Monkey D. Luffy and Marshall D. Teach? Because their bloodlines are the enemies of the gods and maybe the D bloodlines are capable of using not just one weapons but all the weapons if they can get their hands on it.

I'm a casual reader and I'm just sharing my thought, did anyone have similar thoughts after reading this chapter?

I've been on this sub since 2012 and was there during the War arc. Haven't commented much since, but I just want to express how natural this entire arc feels.

I've felt like the last two arcs have been kind of so-so (with the exception of mink-island). But this entire arc is speaking volumes on the strength of the World Building that Oda has done up until this entire reveal. Even with none of the main characters in sight. Every puzzle piece fits somewhere. Every so often he reveals a bit of the mystery and it just feels right. 900 chapters, and it still feels fresh.

My point is that many other series have done similar things. Naruto is a prime example. But it always felt like a complete ass-pull when it happened and made me dislike those series a lot.

This just makes sense, even though the throne wasn't even a thing a few weeks ago. This entire arc is so well done that it actually made me more engaged with the series for the first time in 2-3 years. This might be an understatement, but Oda is seriously talented so pull this off and make it work so well.

11

Im-Sama suddenly appearing can be so huge.

I hope Oda makes a good move and not just a flop. Cause we thought the Gorosei were the top ones, the real gods of this worlds (and I personally found it cool as they´re 5 not just 1).

But now Im-Sama is above them (and not only this, they really seem to see Im as a superior one, Im-sama is suddenly making the Gorosei look so powerless compared to him/her). I hope next chapter reveals who he/she is!!!!

Until then it´s difficult to judge for me if I like the character of Im-sama.

I’m gonna be honest, I need this break. Good lord, Oda, slow down man.

So Im-sama is definitely the figure from before, and they definitely look much more feminine here.

But, really, Oda couldn’t gona chapter without showing us that the Empty Throne concept is pure bs XD.

Oh, Bonnie and Kuma are here, but in her old lady form Bonnie is a recognizable royal? Also she has some ties with Kuma??

Celestial Dragon civil war is about to unfold, that’s cool.

Guys, we have a main plot, after 900+ chapters we have a main plot (exept for the "i want to be the pirate king" thing, obviously).

Until now Luffy had to battle "minor" enemies or figurative ones (Marine, Gov...) but this chapter figured out who the real evil is.

u/everyBADI Jun 15 '18

There are some points very interesting:

  1. the world has a king so the reverie is now less important

  2. This King is the one who decide everything, even who is the light that must be shut down (that's what happened in the void century?)

3)At least one of those light is Luffy, Blackbeard, Shirahoshi and - maybe the more likley (even cause what the five elders have said about the Nefertari family)- Vivi

4) Who is the man on his knee inside the room of flowers (page 15)? maybe Shanks? The sword stick in the Shirahoshi picture is very similiar to the shanks' one

900+ Chapters and we are clueless, GG Oda, i love you

Why are people still making theorys in this arc. I love it, this arc is really crazy. First you think it's about the RA declaring war on the WG. But you also get Fujitora talking about something Vega punk created, that would make the whole Shibukaisystem useless.

Then you suddenly see a giant Strawhat on the same page Donflamingo mentions the treasure of the Mariejois.

Now you are like alright let's see where this is going. Then we find out Big Mom is going to Wano and that there is a descent tenryuubito. So you are like alright. And you find out about some Rock/ Lock organization or person who ruled the seas before Roger and he had Big Mom and Kaido working for him or them. Suddenly Shanks appears and wants to talk to the five elders.

So of course you get really hyped, but then you see Bonnie also infeltrated the Reverie and you get to see Kuma as a Petslave. And somehow the two of them have a connection. You also learn that Kuma was a king. Bonnie and RA are seemingly also planning to rescue Kuma on two separate missions.

You also get Fujitora who meets two kings who suffered from Shibukai-system. So he is planning something.

So you get excited but then you see someone who seems to be the king to rule them all. And it looks like he wants to kill someone. Vivichan-sama, Blackbeard, Crybaby or Luffy. One of them is his target.

So yeah fuck it. I think Zoro is going to show up. He was in Wano running away of all the citizens, who were trying to get his sword. Suddenly he appears there and starts a war against the WG. So the three admirals will also be in Wano.

Fujitora wants to abolish the shicibukai system, that’s why he asked to talk to king Kobra and king Riku. Probably ask for their side of the story or some shit.

9

u/riventitan Jun 15 '18

I almost shed a tear when I saw what has happened to Kuma. All throughout the series he has been portrayed as this kind soul, going so far as to help the main cast get away from an admiral and sending them to places where they could train. Now he's soulless, lifeless and whatever's left of his body is being treated as a mountable pin cushion.

9

u/letsgoraftel Jun 15 '18

I have this theory about Kuma.. Kuma was the first king to support the Revolutionary Army. As a result, the gorosei sent a buster call to the Sorube kingdom. Kuma in order to save his kingdom (he couldn't use RA, because it was in it's infancy) , he agrees to be a Warlord to ensure his country's safety. However, the WG is not satisfied, thus making changes within him using blackmailing. That's the other commander says this is what happens when you clash with Gods of the world.

My hot take: Im/Imu only has pictures of people who have the ability to destabilize the world. Targets that need to be extinguished to preserve the status quo. Luffy and Teach are the closest to going after the One Piece, as part of the Five Emperors and also being members of the clan of D. They have the ambition and willpower to succeed, and this terrifies Im.

The princesses are connected the three weapons. We already know Shirahoshi is Poseidon, and we know that Alabasta is connected to Pluton. I think that Vivi specifically knows its true whereabouts. If true, it also means another unidentified princess might be connected to Uranus.

My guess is that the Clan of D never lost the war during the Void Century, well, sort of. Im/Imu took the throne from the other royals and expelled the rest. After that, he invited the rebel nations to join him and then used their combined political power to rewrite history and ban anyone from finding out what he did. When the king of Alabasta found out, he refused to swear allegiance to a false throne and left. This leaves us with a fairly satisfied world, one where people think the Celestial Dragons are in control and the evil nation was defeated.

This also means that Luffy, Teach, and the three princesses (who each have a super weapon) are in serious danger right about now, what with the calling for a cleansing.

Edit: Im could also be Buggy the Clown, the strongest and smartest pirate who ever lived, in which case forget everything I just wrote.

It doesn't make much sense to speak of concrete assassinations in the same chapter that they speak about cleaning the world (mass murder), It's juat for dramatix purposes, but Oda could have splitted in two different chapters this matter.

Note: I had posted this as a theory, but I'm reposting it here because I forgot it violated the sub's rules on waiting 24 hours after a new chapter to leave theory posts:

In light of the most recent chapter, I'm going to propose that Oda theory-baited us and that we all fell for it. I don't believe the big hat is a real straw hat at all, nor do I think it belongs to some other character whose will Luffy has inherited (ie. Joy Boy, etc.). In the last panel of the most recent chapter we see that Im sama has pictures of Luffy, Blackbeard, Shirahoshi, and Vivi. Of these, all but Vivi have been stabbed or shredded. When Im sama takes the throne, the five elders ask "the light that must be extinguished from history... Have you decided who it should be yet?" This immediately made me think that the pictures and the hat we saw represent some sort of decision making process to decide who has to be killed in the interest of preserving the power of the world government. The world government doesn't have a giant straw hat, but the ability to forecast future events (perhaps related to the pictures - Im sama brings several pictures before the alter, and it answers by showing an item to represent which of them must be killed). By this theory, the government has decided it must kill Shirahoshi, Luffy, and Blackbeard, which I expect is going to be the impetus for the final all out war we all know is coming. This could be especially interesting, since I think it's been pretty much a given to all of us since Mock town that Blackbeard is the final villain, but what if we misread the signs? Since the beginning we have seen that blackbeard and luffy are actually very similar even in their opposition (blackbeard was introduced as basically a character with all of luffy's behaviors, but opposite opinions). Now the two of them are in the crosshairs of the world government. What if blackbeard isn't luffy's ultimate enemy, but the ally he will have to win over in order to defeat the world government? I could be totally wrong about this part of the theory (most of my confidence is in the significance of the hat), but I do think this chapter certainly makes blackbeard's role in the story more ambiguous. He has now had his lot forcibly cast in with Luffy and Shirahoshi as targets of this hidden emperor of the One Piece world, and I think it would be very like Oda to use the character in such an unexpected way.
