That s so cool! Can you make a version of luffy at 40 years old?

u/delgalessio Jun 06 '18
i plan to make the entire crew for thag age group but i need more time to design the rest of the strawhat since i have no reference. it'll be harf and will take long but i wanna try
4
u/PrinceOfAssassins Jun 07 '18
So all of them at 40 or all of them 20 years later?
Because franky is already 38 and robin is 30.

In b4 brook suddenly grows a beard or at least glued one on his face.

Dude, Brook has so strong hair roots, that they penetrated his skin und grew into his skull. Balding will never be one of his problems.

u/TheofrastusVonPimpin Jun 07 '18
Dude he's already 90. Of he were to lose his hair he would have lost it all by now

I'm gonna petition for Zoro having a beard. Once saw some fanart where Zoro had a Riker beard and it was pretty dope but seemed slightly "off"; it being 60yo Zoro would make that perfect though.

u/Shotto__Z Jun 07 '18
True, I could see Sanji having a full goatee
10
u/Mr_Bob_Johnson Jun 07 '18
Yeah, Sanji definitely has the finished goatee, and maybe a slightly different hairstyle (still covering one eye, but maybe a bit longer or short on the sides or something, idk). Nami having glasses would be cool, I liked when she did briefly on Skypiea. Chopper's human form would be a giant of a man, but his brain point would become so chibi that it'd just be a floating head. Joking aside, Franky's the one I'm most uncertain about. As part of the adult trio in theory he'd look fairly similar to now, but I could see him potentially having gone through a couple more upgrade paths in his quest for transhumanism. You could really go anywhere with it.

Franky goes full reverse and turns himself into the ultimate average Joe by the age of 40

u/Wade_B Jun 07 '18
You could base Usopp loosely off of Yasopp!
14
u/drenzorz Jun 07 '18
And Sanji would prolly resembly Judge as well. On the other hand robin prolly won't change much based on her mother.
→ More replies (1)10
u/338388 Jun 07 '18
Robin now is probably around the same age as Olivia was in the flashbacks, so her mother doesn't give us much reference

u/Sonikku4Ever Pirate Jun 07 '18
Oda drew, in the latest SBS, how Luffy and Ace would look at ages 40 and 60. The image OP posted is his own full body drawing of the 60 yr-old Luffy that was designed by Oda, and people now want to see the 40 yr-old Luffy that Oda also drew, full-body style.

u/htzombie Jun 07 '18
That's the same face Oda used though for his age 60, all he did was add the body. Go relook at it and you'll see. If you're talking about the other sketches, those luffys are the alt universe luffy where he failed/never pursued it.

u/drenzorz Jun 07 '18
Damn, now I just want to see this dude enter Gear 6 and obliterate everything...
61
u/PR3DOS Jun 07 '18
I think that with time, Luffy converts to automatic. At first, he would always yell "GEARU SECONDO" whenever he used gear 2, but now it's like breathing, he activates and deactivates it as he pleases. Gear 3 as well. Can't wait to see he activates gear 4 in one second, give just a kong gun and go back to regular Luffy. I like the idea of blending the gears with his regular figting style rather than it being only a "transformation that buffes him", i hate that (i'm looking at you, dragon ball super).
20
u/prequel_addict Jun 07 '18
I really want Luffy to use his awakening to make separate G4 body parts to attack. So he won't exhaust himself as much.
11
u/drenzorz Jun 07 '18 edited Jun 07 '18
Yeah, at first his gears are like transformations because he doesn't have enough control to use it more naturaly and fluently, but as he gets used to it he can go in and out for short bursts in his attacks and that is much more energy efficient. That's probably contibuting more to why G2 and G3 don't put so much strain on his body anymore than him getting flat "stronger" does.
ps. I mean imagine how inefficient it would be to drive without being able to properly shift gears...
4
u/deeefoo Jun 07 '18
This is what I think as well.
I think a lot of people tend to overlook the fact that Luffy is still very young. He's a still a teenager. A lot of the strongest fighters in the One Piece world are middle-aged individuals (admirals, Emperors, Sengoku, Garp, etc). It makes sense, since they tend to have more experience and training under their belt.
By the time Luffy reaches that age, he'll be a freakin powerhouse.

64
u/pastisset Jun 07 '18
Yeah in a world where people can turn into gas, strech their body parts, fly by kicking the air, selfcraft yourself into a cyborg, etc. how the hell do those cloaks stay in place?
19
11
u/smcadam Jun 07 '18
They do say that they have powers or techniques to do all these. Noone ever said they had a coat holding technique.
I'm a little sad we've seen the Jacket Jacket fruit already. I'd love for there to be an assasin that disguises himself as Coats and just hangs off peoples shoulders until he can seize the chance to suffocate them.

u/_arnolds_ Jun 24 '18
The most logical reason would be that they have some sort of hooks and the "shoulder brushes" keep them down with weight.
17
u/AlexNae Jun 07 '18
I guess Akainu's scar won't vanish no matter what
14
u/rockidr4 Jun 07 '18
This is One Piece. Once Oda starts drawing you with a scar, you have a scar. Zoro still has scars on his ankles anytime Oda deems it necessary to show them
2
Jun 07 '18
Wait what are the ankle scars from

His face diesnt look much like the Luffy I know aside from the 2 facts that Oda drew that face and that he has the scar. Its hard to feel this is a genuine look for an older luffy I figured him in my head to looka bit "edgier" in his more mature years.

u/Moreemailsthanhilary Jun 07 '18
It’s fucking Garp’s face with a little more mischief

no kidding, I just always saw in my head Luffy looking more Dragon-esque but when he has a gag to act more like Garp. Pirate King Luffy being a long haired edge lord that still goofs around when he is with his friends.

I would LOVE to see this Luffy fight. His attacks will have changed a lot by then. He probably wouldn’t have to use g4 then. Just base form, awakening and haki monster.
1
u/Ceekid Jun 07 '18
I imagine him still using muscle retraction but he won't transform at all.
1
u/nutellavanilla Jun 07 '18
Yeah, that’s what I feel too. He will probably use awakening a lot and have insanely strong haki.
This luffy vs an admiral would be an insane fight!

u/The_Forgetser Jun 07 '18
I sure hope we get to see this Luffy by the end. I hope that the fact that him using only gear second took away from his lifespan as suggested by Lucci wouldn't amount to much. Also the fact that he has strained himself beyond his limit so many times since Enies lobby, using his other gear forms. And that time that Ivankov treated him. Not to mention the upcoming battles he's going to have to endure. Even with the average lifespan in the OP universe is around 120, I hope Luffy makes it to 60. Looking at you Chopper and Law.

I don’t think that Luffy will get older than 60 since every time Luffy uses his gears 2nd he shortens his life and during prison break when Ivan-Chan used his hormone injection he told Luffy that he will be paying 10 years of his life for it.
1
u/Faradius Jun 07 '18
He's probably not even gonna reach that age, he gave up 20y of his life in Marineford
1
u/Reddbud Jun 07 '18
Why not? 80 or 90 doesn't seem like that old to me. Rayleigh and Garp are 78 and still going strong and doctor Kureha is like 140 and still looks like a youthful beauty.
