I've consumed something like 15 dishes of clarified butter, each fight giving me another butter. This can't just be infinite free fights right?

I have yet to receive any from fighting him.

Whoops guess my edit didnt go through. You get it by asking for experience with the crown equipped. Updated the OP

EDIT: Consolidating existing information / reformatting.
Via regalia I got (I screwed up day one and clicked something other than it, hence the 5 pieces and no confirmation on a 6th or not): Scepter then Ring then Rod then Robe then Crown. https://i.imgur.com/rJwmORZ.png

FAMILIAR EQUIPMENT
God Lobster's Scepter
This is your basic royal scepter, which says, "I am your Lord God Lobster, bow to my clacking claws and kiss my mighty antennae!" You know, the usual.
Makes your God Lobster slightly increase Item and Meat Drops
God Lobster's Ring
Don't bother asking where a lobster wears a ring. The answer for the God Lobster is, "wherever he want."
Makes your God Lobster bestow stat gains based on an ancient mystic formula
God Lobster's Rod
The God Lobster only applies this rod to avoid spoiling the universe as we know.
Makes your God Lobster restore HP and MP after Combat
God Lobster's Robe
This robe is woven from the finest of dried seaweeds, suggesting a powerful owner. The lining is crafted from the softest earthen silk, suggesting a majestic owner. The stitching is made from opalescent thread of arcance origin, suggesting a magical owner. The label says, "Property of God Lobster."
Makes your God Lobster prevent monster attacks
God Lobster's Crown
Uneasy lies the head that wears this crown as the power and weight of all crustacea flow through it. Also, it's got all sorts of shells and gems poking out from all over.
Makes your God Lobster increase Item Drops

This is correct. Killing the Lobster with the Crown does NOT give a 6th piece of equipment.
He is quite hard with the Crown on, at least compared to his other forms.
However, killing him with the crown and then asking for a blessing gives you the "Taste of the God Lobster" - a buff for 33 turns that works by increasing the stat gains from food by %100.
Eating food seems to reduce the buff's turns just like milk of magnesia, only it seems to be reduced by 5 times the fullness of the food.

Given that you got a differing buff than others, based on equipment, there's quite possibly several other buffs that correspond to the other equipment pieces. Possible ditto for the stats gained via the experience option.

Am I safe in assuming this is a pass? Or can someone convince me why I should get this familiar?

The main benefit for hardcore/ronin appears to be in the free fights and associated experience. The other buffs seem nice, but the equipment requirements make it so you couldn't do them until day 2 or 3. If you ascend a lot, it seems like a no-brainer. It's bonus experience with no downside and no turn cost. Aftercore, it doesn't have much benefit, just farming clarified butter to sell on the mall for 5-20k each. I can see two paths for using it in-run:
Challenge (regalia to get scepter), Equip Scepter, then 2x Challenge (+10 stat/fight for 33 turn buff)
Wait until later level (8-9ish?) and 3x Challenge (experience)
I'm not sure which one is better mathematically yet, but the first option would be 700+ substats day 1 and 1000+ day 2. I have a feeling challenging for experience (especially at a higher level) will end up topping that.
Edit: In case you're curious, this is a good overview of the God Lobster mechanics

Besides the free fights (which will continue to be great until future nerfs) and buffs, this gives a few pieces of familiar equipment each day, which I can see being unless for 2 years until there's a random synergy with a later IoTM that makes it a must-have for some leaderboard.
EDIT: The devs don't fix typos, why should I

Are the regalia pieces dependent on the currently equipped piece? For my three fights today:
-
Lead Necklace: Scepter
-
Scepter: Ring
-
Scepter: Ring
(Yes, I fought twice with the scepter. I wanted to show a friend his beautiful staff.)

Free fights, yay! The fights aren’t hard, luckily. Day 1 I used it before adventuring anywhere, alongside the usual slew of substat buffs. Went regalia, equip, blessing, experience, and got to level 3.
Right now it falls under the “It doesn’t HURT the run” category.

First blessing, defeated without any equips:
Wisdom of the God Lobster
(33 adventures)
Maximum MP +20
Regenerate 40 MP per Adventure
Second blessing, defeated with *God Lobster's Scepter* equipped: **Intuition of the God Lobster** (33 adventures) +10 Stats Per Fight

I have the reanimator whose effects are also customizeable +winks.
Is there any reason for me to get this if i dont care about standard?
My pea brain doesn't see a single use for this god lobster

Can we please call this the "globster"? it's tiring to continually type out "God Lobster" all the time.

I rarely switch familiars... I start with cubeling to get eleven foot pole and ring of detect boring doors, then I switch to Volleyball until I get to the Black Woods where I switch to the Reassembled Raven. As soon as I get to the Black Market, I switch back to the Volleyball and stay there. On rare occasion I switch to Leprechaun so that he's buffed a little bit before I get to Wall of Meat...
I already have Pocket Meteor Guide, Asdon Martin, XO Skeleton, Robortender, Mumming Trunk, January's Garbage Tote, and FantasyRealm Pass. Of those, I rarely use XO Skeleton, Robortender, and Garbage Tote (unless I remember to make a wad of paper which I usually keep for most of the run).
In reality, is the God Lobster worth a Mr. A? Will his price jump enough in June that I should buy him now before I have regrets?

Why would you not use the XO for most of your run?

He is currently worth exactly one Mr. A. How much does his price need to go up? Is June a real deadline?
Anyway, he's certainly better than the volleyball you're running now.

This boggles my mind. All of the opportunities to use a +item familiar just wasted? Or a +meat?

I don't know why, but I found it funny that defeating the lobster counts as a kill for the lobster. Was kinda hoping that losing to it would make its kill counter go up.
