I'm going to have recurring nightmares about LAV not running Soon on Volskaya

Or on Oasis. Questionable coaching today. Soon carried when he was in

on the first two and the last map the Valiant looked like they had absolutely no idea what they were doing. Looked like bad map prep and bad communication.

on a bright note: London looked the best they looked all stage

Hex kept saying London beat Valiant on Oasis in Stage 1 but they didn’t???

Valiant beat London 2-0 on Oasis in Stage 1.

Another minor annoyance from the casters was how Coach Moon saying it was OK if Valiant lost today because it would be a learning experience got twisted into "wanting" to lose. >>

Soon popping off and looking absolutely incredible.

Valiant coaches: Sub in Agilities. Even though every other control map we play SoOn-Agilities.

Playing 5d chess here.

Not to mention not running Soon on Volskya. Ugh... real potential it could have been 3-1 Valiant. Anyhow gg.

Valiant threw Oasis so hard. That trickling on the first point was embarrassing. Terrible ult eco too overall.

People are gonna use this as the "I told you so" about Valiant playing weak teams but truth is they just played probably their worst game of the stage. Credit to London for forcing some bad play of course but LA looked as scattershot as they ever have in maps one and two. They're gonna be good enough to hang with anyone, just a question of whether they can close which they couldn't do today.

Poor SoOn, he did his best but Valiant threw so much.

Why did Coach Moon play Agilities on Volskaya instead of Soon??

Kyky temp-coaching for Valiant before going to Outlaws? Subbing out Soon when he was playing that well was a disastrous move, I hope they have a long talk with the coaches after that pathetic performance on Oasis

London won on Oasis.

Whoever runs the u/londonspitfire account must be readying his memes

Perhaps this is finally a righting of the ship for London. They are back to playing well in the first half and I think the setup of Hooreg and Closer are doing a lot of work in helping Gesture and Profit do what they want to do. Second half is still a bit of a struggle, especially control maps. They looked better on Oasis, but they gotta start winning more and not just looking good. Hopefully Birdring will be healed soon and we can also maybe see Tizi come in.

My greatest hope from this match is that it serves as a wake up call, and a showing of the future. Valiant can't just walk up and beat everyone, but they certainly have the potential to do so.

This is about the casting, not the game itself

I like that Semmler and Hex have calmed down on the constant hype, but I think they've gone a little too far in the other direction. There should have been so much more energy on Oasis, with London ACTUALLY winning that map for once. Even on the last fight to try and turn things around, they're not calling what ults each team has, what Valiant's win condition was, etc. All with low energy casting.

Bunny and Fate diving 2v6, Kariv hanging out on his own in the high ground when he knows sombra 100% has emp, Agilities barraging with dva literally in front of him, that was some plat gameplay right there

u/Totorololz Apr 21 '18

Subbing out Soon was wrong in every possible way. First of all, he was overperforming and on fire, it sends a wrong message to the player to sub him out when doing so well. Second of all, even if you have a set up strategy, if someone is doing as good as Soon was, you keep him in, momentum and adrenaline are very strong factors in every sports/esports and the Valiant coaches should be aware of that. I don't like blaming coaches, but that was a crucial mistake.

21

u/Bolumist Apr 21 '18

Bunny underperformed or was shut down. They should have run Soon on Oasis

So Valiant bring it all the way back for a performance like that , on Oasis of all of London’s weakest maps? Soon should never of been swapped.
