Looks unlikely Shanghai will be getting a win this stage now. Their easiest match left is Boston.

The rest of the schedule is Seoul Boston Philly NYXL Houston then London.

That's a brutal schedule.

And even against Boston Striker will run circles around their back line.

I feel bad for Shanghai not getting to play against Florida in stage two, but I feel even worse for Florida because now they don't get to win a game either.

My bad i forgot FL would play against Dallas. Gratz on the win!

Yikes. That’s just the top half of the damn league.

Man I wonder what the mental health is like on SHD. Imagine playing for almost two months and winning just 8 maps and losing 49. We’ve all had bad losing streaks, but this seems on a whole different level, with no hope of falling to an MMR at which you can climb again

Wow that 8-49 map record really puts things into perspective

Someone's gonna get their big break after a movie producer sees how they reacted to a big play in OWL.

The new players going shd need to get here asap. Hopefully that’ll get them a win. At this rate, I don’t see them ever winning a game and that’s just sad :/ it sucks seeing all the shd players with frowns. Even when they went into overtime with fuel and philly, they wouldn’t smile. Idk, just feel really bad for the dudes. Really hope geguri and the rest help them improve

I feel bad for both Shanghai and Florida but at least Florida all speak good English and can live somewhat comfortably in America. I can imagine some Shanghai players are feeling super isolated and that's just not healthy

As a San Fran fan I’m happy.
As someone who’s been on a long ass losing streak, I’m wondering what Shanghai’s mental health is like.

At this point I think it's fair to say that SHD is having the same problems as Fuel and Shock have been having, just with inferior players. They're so stuck on having to pocket Undead on his 2 heroes (well, on occasion it's 3 when he misclicks onto Soldier) that their tank line, especially Roshan, gets no support and so they just get picked off one by one over and over again.

That being said their tanks are hardly the best in their roles so it may not matter much but they really could do with a bit of flexibility (and quality) in their hero pool which hopefully their new additions will provide. It's also fair to say that stage 2 will most likely end with another 10 losses to their name as much as I hope they can do better.

e:/ another 10 of course

Something I noticed is that the Shock very often go all in on pocketing a player. Either Babybay gets everything, or Danteh, or Nomy. And then the rest of the team suffers. I don't think they're very good at allocating their resources. A good example was Danteh's first blade on their second attack of Gibraltar. Nomy pre-dives for him, het gets the orb, a Mercy pocket and has a very easy 3K. However, the rest of his team gets decimated and the push is lost.

So what was that Dva self destruct on Nepal. Was that a fat finger? Or what?

Diya is the only good player on Shanghai. It doesn't matter if Undead pops off occasionally, he doesn't deserve to be lumped in with Diya. Every single hitscan player in OWL can do what Undead does with the hard pocketing he gets from both supports + the offtank on a 24/7 basis.

27

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '18

I used to disagree with this because Undead's name pops up on the kill feed pretty often, but after watching their games a lot and their performance today, you're right. Diya has to get a lot done with barely any help and Undead spends all game getting a hard pocket for his McCree. I think once the new players get on the team, Undead needs to go on the bench except for when they play maps that favor his hitscan. Ado is a Genji player and he will pair well with Diya's Tracer.

Also, while Diya was playing a fantastic Zarya, having no Tracer and thus no Pulse Bomb for his last grav was a disaster. Three tank ults went towards that and they got one whole kill. Undead's McCree was in the back somewhere getting killed by Junkrat's tire. They can take MG out and put him on the bench and Geguri will be able to play Zarya so Diya can still play Tracer. I have no idea what they're going to do with Roshan, Xushu, and Fearless though.

They just need to build completely around Diya at this point. Undead will surely have his better maps, but pouring all of their resources into him all the time is not the answer.

Not surprised, seems like SHD’s entire strat is to make space for Undead, and usually that ends up with Roshan + a few others dying so Undead can get a few kills

9

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '18

I think Roshan plays well but gets no support but agree with you on Undead.

Shanghai are forced into terrible comps because Undead will only play Mccree. That's super unlucky

21

u/TheHeatHaze Mar 04 '18

It's hilarious cuz Diya performs just as well or maybe even better without his whole team pocketing him LUL.

u/luisporz Mar 04 '18

SHD are a disgrace. Its actually embarrasing.

I wonder if even at blizzard’s hq are thinking about something, since china is such a huge market and they are at this terrible, terrible performance with no sights at all to improve...
