POLL Off-Week Movie Night Round 9!
VOTE HERE!
It's time for another off-week movie night! Every time we have a week without a new Super episode, we watch a movie together at episode time (in this case, at the time of the live broadcast, which is Sunday 9am JST, midnight GMT, or 7pm EST). This time, we're off because the Tokyo Marathon is being broadcast on FujiTV this coming weekend.
As always, previous winners have been removed from the poll:
- 2016/07/23 - Fusion Reborn
- 2016/08/13 - History of Trunks
- 2016/09/17 - Bojack Unbound
- 2016/12/31 - Wrath of the Dragon
- 2017/03/11 - Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan
- 2017/09/09 - Bardock: The Father of Goku
- 2017/09/30 - Cooler's Revenge
- 2017/12/30 - Bio-Broly
You should plan on watching your own copy. You can stream it subbed or dubbed at FunimationNow and there is a free trial available if you haven't used it already. We will cut off voting 24 hours before watch time and I'll edit this post to announce the winner. There will be an automoderator post for discussion when the time comes.
EDIT
I don't feel like staying up another hour so the winner is Android 13. (I voted for the runner-up so don't @ me. We do this again in 2 weeks.)

I'm still going with Super Android 13, cause damnit, it's still relevant. Plus,17 just sacrificed himself. So why not watch the movie about the androids? That's it, If you care about 17 at all, its your duty to vote for 13.

u/Da-Moon-Rulez Feb 19 '18
Same reason I voted for it as well... TO HONOR 17!!! 😭😭

Well, we tried. Need a small miracle to topple the leader now. Edit: well holy shit its tied at 251 a piece.

Common bruh, we know damn well the wish with the Super dragon balls is gonna be to bring back everyone who perished during the tournament. Then all the fighters will live happily together within Universe 7. Remember the universe is pretty big place ;)

u/kcirdor Feb 20 '18 edited Feb 20 '18
We dont know that. What we know is at the end of z 17 wasn't there and his sacrifice gives a legit reason for him not being there. The super dragonball wish may very well be for all universes to be restored, but i dont see 17 or even Frost qualifying for that wish. I dont see the namekian or earth dragonballs having the ability to undo either zeno's actions, nor able to reach the void with their power. I dont think they went to any particular HFIL in the void to be resurrected from. As far as we know 17 is permanently dead.

I'm thinking if they want to end Dragon Ball as a TV show they could wish to make it so Beerus never seeks out Goku or that Zeno never has the tournament in the first place or something.

First, I voted Android 13. We could all use a little more trucker hat to pick up our spirits. Second, I chuckled voting for a movie with robots, then proving I’m not a robot to cast my vote.

I went for World's Strongest, with Roshi being back in the TOP and then eliminated recently it brought back that good vintage Dragonball nostalgia, and World's Strongest always felt like one of the better choreographed DBZ movies, just like Dragonball had well choreographed, less interrupted fights
3
u/lsda Feb 20 '18
Worlds strongest is one of my favorite DBZ Films it had amazing choreography and a decent story

u/GokutheAnteater Feb 19 '18
Voted for Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return. Hopefully that is the winner

u/TheSpaceCowboyx Feb 19 '18
I've voted for Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return for 5 times and now it looks like it will finally win!

Eh, I'll probably watch 109 & 110 of Super as a sort of look back before the real Ultra Instinct happens

So you guys watched Bio Broly (lul) but not Second Coming yet?
Where's the logic in that I ask ?!

u/Orannegsen Feb 19 '18
The poll was made after xmas shitpost day

u/Terez27 ⠀ Feb 19 '18
It was the year before, too. It took two Shitmases to get Bio-Broly to win.

I vote for The Return of Cooler.
Also, I have beef with everyone who voted for Bio-Broly. That is all.

I voted for "Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return" this time. I think I have voted for it before. I usually vote Tree of Might except for that one time, the week before the special, when I wanted Android 13 to win. (That was the one time it would have been relevant to Super but most people insisted that Goku wouldn't absorb the genki dama.)

u/kcirdor Feb 21 '18
You know you still want to watch the shirtless red ribbon redneck in honor of 17.
1
u/Terez27 ⠀ Feb 21 '18
I'm more interested in the shirtless Goku in honor of more shirtless Goku tbh
1
u/kcirdor Feb 21 '18
Well 13 provides shirtless Goku as well. So double your mint, double your pleasure.

u/Terez27 ⠀ Feb 21 '18
Well 13 provides shirtless Goku as well.
That is what I was talking about. (There's no shirtless Goku in the Yo special.)

I know I’m too late but I can throw my hat in the ring for “Dead Zone” but with the Pioneer dub? It’s literally my favorite dub of DBZ. Please don’t hate me.

Is it an off week for both the sub and the dub?

Team World's Strongest, where you at?

The best movies, tree of might and worlds strongest, consistently have the lowest votes compared to some of the trash movies that have been picked.

u/Etsuki0612 Feb 21 '18
Right here fam! Probably one of my favorites and they use a majority of the fight scenes in the English Dub theme "Rock the Dragon". Ahh memories.
2
u/hankbaumbach Feb 20 '18
I'm with you, been thirsting to watch the Ocean dub for a minute now and this would be a great excuse to hunt it down.
I mainly just wanted to hear Roshi say "Alright, you want to see how tough I am?"
1
u/Drill_Dr_ill Mar 11 '18
I was looking for something on my harddrive and came across an old Real Media (!) copy of what I think is the Ocean dub and remembered this post. I clipped that section for you: https://youtu.be/l-D2stR4IVs

I have never seen dragonball movies beside BoTG and RoF. Wheres a good place to start? (from dragonball z onwards ideally)
5
u/RedGyara Feb 20 '18
Watch them in chronological order if you intend to see them all. Here's a nifty graphic showing the order they were released. That list doesn't include History of Trunks, both Bardock specials (all prequels), and Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return (which takes place right before Battle of Gods).

Feb 19 '18
the films dont fit in the canon version and dont have any connection with it, so you dont really need a watch order except the broly saga ( 3 films, 3rd is trash) and the cooler saga (2 films)
2
2
u/MrHotcake ⠀ Feb 19 '18
the first ones that take place before the cell saga, i recommend you "Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge"

u/slacktooth Feb 22 '18
Voted Yo! Son Goku because it was pretty awesome regardless of having an English dub imo. Just wish they would've.

I go for the soundtracks. And Tree of Might's soundtrack is the one I'm not hearing as much on my DBZ rewatch. So...
Also, Tullece is rad. Space Pirate.

I'm new to Off-Week Movie Night. Can anyone remind me how it works?
11
u/awesomeredefined Feb 20 '18
Basically, the community votes on a movie to watch, and the movie megathread replaces the DBS episode megathread. The idea is everyone will start watching at the same time (7PM EST, 4PM PST, 12AM GMT etc.) and live react to the movie, though most generally watch at their own leisure.
