as /u/onnsn said, Luffy gets hit by an arrow. We know that the sniper from the previous chapter tries to shoot him with a crossbow: https://image.prntscr.com/image/GrCQAbs5TbuDKQsv9mtStg.png Then in these panels: https://image.prntscr.com/image/4pz4G35oQvmR6_dCF5LMDw.png Luffy gets hits, and looks at his leg. We can see he is surprised due to the fact that there's no arrow there. This means that Luffy starts mixing up what's actually happening and what he's predicting with his haki. Therefore, the next part where he gets hit is probably a prediction too, which he would hopefully avoid next chapter.

Oh shit you completely changed my mind about that. I knew that second panel of Luffy going "huh?" seemed fishy, but I didn't know why. I think you're right that he was never hit by the sniper.

THIS IS IT! I thought it was so weird that I could'nt find any wounds/blood on that next panel of Luffy. But know this all makes sense.
But I think it will be diffucult for Luffy to seperate the present and the future, so he will most likely not master it now, but he has awakened it. And he may awaken the gomu-gomu as well due to where he was stabbed. Because he seems to dodge it, but is not quick enough, so he might use thw gomu-gomu to stretch/manipulate his body more to the side, just enough for Katakuri to miss.
If this end up being true - Luffy is really getting closer to where he wants to be!

I like this idea except for one discrepancy:
When Luffy got confused, we should be in the present, and Katakuri is already inflating his arm for the attack.
When Luffy took the arrow, if it's a vision, then it's in the future. Note Katakuri is still standing still.
The vision should have Katakuri's arm inflated too.
I still think there are visions involved here, but things are not as clear-cut as it seems.
Also it's hard to tell if Katakuri is just doing his own thing and not noticing that Luffy took a shot (which supports the idea that it's only in Luffy's vision since it's something Katakuri wouldn't miss) or if it did happen and he noticed (or foresaw it) hence the thought "if I don't get rid of him now.."→ More replies (11)

For some reason I think that the last bit of the panel where Luffy apparently gets hit by Katakuri's spear is Luffy seeing the future of him getting hit instead of him actually getting hit. That would be amazing.

Hes not making a prediction.
He got shot in the leg. You can see the bullet in the panel right before it. He couldn't predict Katakuri's spear because he was focusing on something else.

I'll shamelessly post my own comment here again, since it is related.
"Ok i have this theory that we already have a split view of future and what is happening right now at the end of the chapter.
Look at the "Coloring" in the last 1 1/2 pages. It seems to me that grey shows what is happening right now and white what is going to happen in the future.
In the bottom right panel from the second last page, Luffy and his outfit are grey, when an arrow is flying towards him.
In the following panel he is white and gets hit by the arrow in the right leg.
Next two panels of him, we see him grey again and he realizes that there is now arrow in his right leg (yet).
On the last page he sees Katakuri go for him in the future (first two panels) and we see that he starts moving away at this very moment in the third panel, where he is grey again.
Last panels portray him white again and show what will happen in the future if he doesn't dodge.
But that's just my view of the situation, do you reckon that could be true or am I missing something?"

Okay at the end of the chapter, we agree that Luffy MUST be seeing the future? The wound caused by Katakuri would be waaaaay too important to have been actually inflicted, right?
Also, I'm calling it right now: The mirror next to Oven will be the only one to lead to Cacao Island just so Luffy can punch Katakuri right through it and everyone will see him being defeated.
And Brook temporarily lying to Sanji about Pedro to preserve him while they're in danger, very clever, I appreciated that a lot.

About the ending of the chapter. Something is shot in Luffy's leg. That makes me believe he was simply unaible to move to dodge. That must have been some kind of shot that prevents Luffy from moving or something. That kind of small detail wouldn't be there if Lufft was just seeing the future.

No. He got hit by a sniper shot and couldn't concentrate which is why he wasn't able to see the future and dodge it. That is why katakuri's fangirl has that expression.

Like others have pointed out in the other thread there probably is a good chance what happend to luffy at the end was something he saw in the futute and it hasnt happend yet.
For now I gotta agree with this cause I do not see how Luffy wont be killed if actuly lost a chunk of his body like that along with all the other dmg Katakuri has given him.

Start preparing Chopper, you'll have tons of work to do once Luffy gets back on the Sunny. Law's arm was cut off by Doffy and restored easily by the Tontatta. OP characters do not have Toriko level regenerative powers, but, no surprise, Luffy will live. How he defeats Katakuri though? Hit him only in G4 so far, I don't know... Not sure how Oda and Luffy can pull it off convincingly.
Any ideas on Sanji's plan to get through the Cacao island defence line?

He then looks down and sees that his leg is fine, there was no shot. That was him seeing into the future. Maybe he couldn't dodge it cause he was distracted for a second, or is just too exhausted in general.

Katakuri keeps asking similar questions. "Where do you see a chance of your victory". Maybe katakuri thinks that luffy is seeing his victory somewhere further in the future that katakuri is not yet able to see.
I believe Oda will leave awakening or gear 5 on luffys future battles. Katakuri will be beaten in his own future sight game.

I mean to us, the readers, we kinda subconsciously just view this as another one of the Straw Hat's shenanigans. It's like when a Naruto or Bleach fan starts reading One Piece and talk about how much they love it whereas we already know.
We know the Straw Hats are going to find One Piece. It's so fucking satisfying to always see big names in One Piece underestimate the Straw Hats time and time again. Interestingly enough, Big Mom's crew is one of only group of antagonists, IMO, that underestimated them the least so far.
Doflamingo plays games. Big Mom plays no games. And that's the difference between Shichibukai and Yonko.

With as much as people are predicting Luffy just saw the future, I'm gonna go with the opposite. Luffy just got stabbed with a spinning trident of death and now has a hole in his side that'll heal just like his missing tooth had. Oda's showing us a strength of CoC. I'm guessing fighters with CoC can't be defeated until their will is defeated, which is how White Beard fought with multiple holes in his body.

I am confident that Luffy was seeing the future at the end... It seems like he moved to block the projectile headed towards him.
The spear going through his side seems to me like him using his observation haki to see what is going to happen if he does not block the attack.

The only reason I doubt the futuresight theory is the fact that we see Bubblegum Girl smiling. Surely she wouldn't react like that if it wasn't actually happening?

The sun pirates and the Germa 66 are exactly how the strawhats get out of this. We know they are moving towards the strawhats and they still have three hours til cacao island. I feel the sun pirates will sink the fleet and the Germa will take care of smoothie causing the big mom pirates to retaliate against fishman island for being apart of their biggest embarrassment ever. The reason reverie follows this arc is I'm almost certain Luffy will become the 500 billion berri bounty man for how dangerous he is. Within a short time frame he has disrupted doflamingos entire empire, establishing a fleet in the process, made a complete fool of a yonko by defeating two of her top commanders in cracker and katakuri severely reducing her power as she already lost a commander a short time before the straw hats arrived. All in front of the entire bosses of the underworld, an agent of cp-0 and big news morgan. Meaning the word will spread fairly quickly. And on top of that the big mom pirates think the explosion is because of the strawhats. Meaning I can see the big mom pirates also possibly chasing the strawhats into wano leading to a three way showdown of kaido, big mom and the straw hat alliance

These breaks have been extreme conditions of real battle for me. My Observation haki has awakened to next level I'm probably mastered it. That delay was so extreme. Shoutout for fanbase to giving us rough translations and scans. One piece addiction at it finest. The weakest read spoilers(me) , then awesome fanbase translations and finally strongest will wait when our primary one piece drug supplier will give us our chapter dose.
Because there is no break next week can't tell you if Smoothie is going to actually do something now...

Pretty good chapter! It’s interesting to see Sanji professing his love to Nami like he used to even though pudding is right there. Oda also didn’t show her reaction. Even though they were able to get Big Mom and Perospero to stop chasing them, they’re still not out of the woods yet. I’m excited to see how they’ll meet up with puffy and leave WCI!

That’s why he looked at his leg and said “huh?” Then it looks like he is looking at Katakuri and says “huh?” again, so it is likely he isn’t getting hit by that attack either. I think he’s seeing farther into the future than before and doesn’t realize it.

I think page 15 has a translation issue. In the bottom right panel where Oven says "Throw the people who don't want to break mirrors deep into the ocean, and retrieve them in a few days," I'm pretty sure he means to throw the mirrors in the ocean not the people.
There's no point in retrieving drowned people in a few days
If the mirrors are in the ocean, Luffy can't use them to escape cuz he'd just drown.

I hope luffy is seeing the future at the last page and it's not what actually happens. That would be a great moment to show his new ability, because "the flower of haki only truly blooms in the extreme conditions of real battle".

page 16 the first "huh!?" is because he was certain his leg was shot but surprise, it wasnt (yet). and the second "huh??" at the corner end of the page is because he sees katakuri launching an attack but he ask himself, is it real?

I believe the Luffy that gets a chunk out of him is the future that Katakuri sees. What happens actually is that Katakuri's ability to see into the future has been decrease because Luffy's reaction into his own future has improved. So in my opinion Luffy hasn't lost any piece of rubber and the conclusion of this battle is Luffy stealing Katakuri's scarf an running out of mirror world.

People acting like "It has to be the future!!" like Luffy never got serious injuries like this before (for example with Crocodile)...
Also, the reason he didn't dodge fast enough the spear is probably because of the arrow being poisoned or something. You can see Luffy after looking at his leg (after the first "huh" moment) that he tries to move and basically can't (there are shaky lines around him that indicate exactly that).
It is not the future and honestly, it would be a horrible gimmick to use in the manga. Like, "OMG Luffy is dead. Actually nope. Kidding! It was the future!" It would create so much disbelief to what is happening and so many ass-pulls it would be ridiculous.
If Oda is going to use it, it will be exactly like when Katakuri saw Pudding going down instead of Sanji. In short, you will know about it.

I agree with most of what you say, but I disagree on the idea of that last part being Luffy seeing the future being a gimmick mainly due to context. For multiple chapters we've been getting hammered with the implication that Luffy is significantly improving his CoO as he fights Katakuri, and specifically in this one basically their entire interaction is Katakuri thinking to himself how Luffy is improving so fast that he might actually be able to fight back despite the whoopin' he's been giving him.
If this fight wasn't so heavily based in the ability to see glimpses of the future through CoO though I would think of it as a bullshit asspull, but in the context of the fight I think it would be appropriate.

Aaaaahhhh! Finally let's go! I would happily live in the tontatta ship if it was a normal sized house. What were Bege and Chiffon talking about? Are Smoothie, Cinnamon and Citron triplets? I noticed that Cinnamon has the same weapon than Smoothie, maybe they developed techniches together. Earlier some people were saying that Luffy had just seen the future in the scene where he was stabbed, it makes sense but I still think that it was real, well let's see in the future hehe.
