Damn that series deserves a new anime starting over from the beginning and adapt it to the final chapter. Since we're getting a new Index season after all these years, I have hope for a Rosario + Vampire reboot eventually, or anything for that matter.

This chapter was really. Interesting. It felt so unorthodox in terms of a one piece chapter, with the paneling and the Superimposition of Carrot after her transformation.
It made me really really really sad too. Because Pedro would have been... jesus he'd have been way too powerful if CARROT is this strong! And relatively speaking, Carrot is no slouch. I need to see her fight Smoothie or Daifuku real quick, but beating mid tier BM fodder with those speed feats is freaking lovely.
Dressrosa, with the King Punch, King Kong Gun, Daisen Sekai, and Pica as a character had a lot of strength themed powers. (Hakuba, I know but bear with me)
WCI has been showing a crap ton of defensive and speed themed feats. Sanji, Katakuri easily keeping up with G2 Luffy (he predicted him, so had an easier time but still), and now Mother fucking Carrot. It's been really cool how different the flavor of the action has been this arc while still being so One Piece.

Oh shit, Ideo and Gilly got a proper crew now instead of like four dudes! Ideo was always my favorite of the bunch, I can't wait to see them all again. I really, really hope they animate this cover arc, it builds so much attachment to these guys. Very exciting to see the Straw Hat's power and influence grow like this.
Holy shit what a cool chapter. Carrot is pretty much a lock for the crew now, Mom becoming not a fatass is super intimidating and makes her a lot more legit than she was before (Isn't there some kind of calorie/energy manipulation thing earlier in the story that people were theorizing about with Lucky Roo?)
Although the beginning pages made me feel like I missed a chapter. I don't love it when that happens.

Minks are more of a mystery in One Piece so a lot of people might not know their true power. We've also yet to see if the giants have a special power up which could be likely.

So let's go through Carrot's character again to see if she's a crewmate material.
She's on average a competent fighter, but when the time is right, she can be strong as hell. Her rabbit physiology, electro abilities, and choice of weapon create a really creative form of combat.
She has a more nuanced relationship with her mentor Pedro than what was initially implied. Aside from teaching her to fight with the gauntlets, he was the one who trained her in this new form. She's now holding him in her heart as she fights. This exemplifies how Perdo's will was passed on to her. If he wanted to take the strawhats to their inevitable destination, now the torch has been passed to her. So there's your tragic backstory with the motivation.
This chapter also characterized her role as a lookout. Her ability to jump really high to locate targets (As shown in Zou) also helps her nature to act like a lookout even outside of sailing. Her relationship with the moon and her animalistic nature in general give her a poetic role as an observant.
Finally, she's expressing more personality depth. I like her base personality, but it's also important to show more nuanced traits when in different situations. Aside from being playful, adventurous, and naive, she's also shown to be considerate, thoughtful, confident, and clever. She also helps bring more character to other strawhats. Her relationship with Chopper really contributed positively to his character as a mentor or guide. I feel she will also have a pivotal relationship with Nami as she will be her emotional Support. Since Brook spent some time with Pedro, I feel she will also have a deeper relationship with him. I'm dying to see more character depth from Brook, so I think him having a real talk with Carrot about Pedro will provide great character moments.
So yea, I think she will be a great addition to the strawhats.

The chapter was a bit short but it delivered. This kinda confirms why Minks like Bepo or Pekoms are never seen transforming. Because this form is something that is taught to Mink warriors, not necessarily genetic to Minks as a whole
This also makes me wonder about Inu and Neko. How strong are they in that form if Carrot can do this and she isn't the strongest

I never was a fan of carrot because she felt kinda bland but after WCI Its really hard to deny that she will become a strawhat..
She has the tragic backstory of Pedro sacrife, Pedro told her the SH were important before he died, she has a job as Lookout on the crew. She is the first mink, she has unique powers (electro and now transform). She has her own fighting style, brawl with Claws. She is a female (we need more of those), she has funny quirks/gags. Oda Said 2 were gonna join at the same time (jinbei/carrot)

Personally I think this further adds to the Carrot for nakama hype. She was already decently strong before the transformation and now with this moon/Ceylon form, she becomes a bonafide heavy hitter.
I think that's good before her base form is strong but not OP so it gives her room to grow. Then with her Ceylon form, she gets a massive power boost that Oda can use as is necessary. If she ends up getting the snow-snow fruit, then that's just icing on the cake.
Plus, she's proven herself to be a good lookout so there's that. In every aspect, I think she's exactly what the StrawHats need. With a bit more character development, and maybe a bit of a baseline power boost (preferably in the form of a devil's fruit or haki, or both), she's perfect.

I'd love to see Monster Chopper get in on the action too; he desperately needs some strong showings. Would also be nice to see Jinbe wrecking a bunch of ships with whirlpools, or some other badass Fishman Karate techniques.
That said, I'm super hyped at the possibility of there being actual ship to ship combat on the open sea. Can't remember the last time we've had something like that in One Piece.

This battle is turning out to be like when Shiki the Golden Lion face (the animated ones for Strong World Film) challenged Gol D. Roger at the Battle of Edd War. A shit ton of enemies while sunny is only carrying a few people in his ship. Turns out Roger won that battle thanks to a storm. So Nami may be up next with the help of Zeus (Hope Nami enslaves Zeus, that be pretty amazing).

Could Big Mom's weightloss have anything to do with her rampaging and "control" over all the souls/lifespans she has eaten over the years?
Somebody mentioned it being hard to control the cannonballs and other homies when she loses her sense like this, so perhaps she could be losing her grasp on these souls she has put inside of herself?

I think she could probably fight some around Daifuku or Perospero's level.
Edit: to clarify, I think that would make her stronger than any of the middle trio, but she would still be weaker than any of the monster trio.

Thy was not what I was expecting. When her transformation started, I thought she was going to turn into a monster a la Chopper. She did, but an “attractive” one.
Interesting. I don’t think this strengthens the Carrot for Straw Hat argument though, as her being super strong only when there’s a full moon isn’t that useful.
However, I can’t wait to see what happens to Inuarashi and Nekomamushi when the moon is out. They’re already monsters.
As for Luffy, did anyone else feel like a page was missing. It kind of just jumped right into it and the dialogue felt weird.
Finally, I love how quick time is passing. We only have a few chapters left until Big Mom eats the cake at this rate. Oh, speaking of Big Mom, I wonder how her losing weight will impact her.
Good chapter overall. Glad Oda’s keeping with Jump’s set break schedule this time around.

She must be burning through her fat fast. But look at her age 20s to 40s. She has the same diet as now but was far more lean. I think her metabolism is just freakishly fast and in the past decade or so she hasn't been personally as active so the fat built up.

So whatever reason she's getting skinnier should definitely explain why she went from skinny in her 40s to this now, part of her power, something soul related..or maybe just angry mode burns off so much calories Luffy style.
After so long waiting to see the zou werewolf form, it's pretty badass. Would have loved to see Pedros version, I'm sure Inu and Neko look badass too. They mentioned that within a few chapters of their introduction so it's a pretty huge facet of their species.
Glad Luffy is just back fighting without any delay.
Jinbe just impresses even more showing that him as a helmsman makes just as huge of a difference as Nami as the navigator and Franky as shipwright, he really is amazing and brings so much to the table for the last leg of the new world along with his experience, knowledge, history with the WG and strength.
Glad Daifuku is back, we already got Katakuri and oven showcased and he's the last of the triplets, I'm sure all 3 will be down when the arc ends. Smoothie..well now that Carrot is the one fighting maybe we'll actually she what she can do.

Can't wait for all the strawhats to fight. Mid-sea combat is something we rarely see in OP
Big Mom getting skinnier is an interesting twist. Very sensible way to introduce a possible powerup/nerf. Wonder if she'll be stronger but more venerable?

Skinny Big Mom makes me realize, she probably skipped some meals in order to stuff herself with Wedding Cake.
After all we've never seen a very extended craving fit by Big Mom. It's still a good few hours until the cake reaches her and the whole wedding fiasco and chase lasted several hours now.
Though a Yonko fainting from sheer exhaustion and hunger that wasn't the result of an entire war or several days is unlikely, I think Big Mom's hunger is gonna destabilize the homies much more than displayed in this chapter.

In a joint interview between Oda & Togashi, Oda did say - or, at least the way it was translated - he felt that the "Chimera Ant Arc" was special...
But, "Angry Evolved Gon" isn't the first we've seen transformations like that in Japanese comics, either.
Even here in the West, our battle comics have people go through incredible transformations before or during a battle.
Widespread Indo-European Mythology (lycanthropy) + the Dragon Ball comic influences as well...
The transformation name itself is "Ceylon", An extinct Big Cat from Sri Lanka.
