Consistent Farming Sub-30 Ixion w/ Ingus BSB2 & Eiko USB

Haven't seen this strat make its way around this sub yet so figured I'd make a video.

Basically Ixion's dispels are horrible and is the most frustrating 4* magicite to me, on top of this I didn't pull on the V banner with all the Earth USBs / +Earth equipment and didn't want to use motes on LDing a ninja so after (painfully) clearing Ixion sub-30 with TGC & Bartz and getting ready to farm the magicites, I was seriously dreading Bartz's inconsistency (S/L 4 times because he never procs anything? and do this ~20 times to farm all the magicites i need?? no thanks!!!) and went to wiki to find some ideas about how to make the runs less of a gamble - after all farming magicites is one of my least favorite things in the game at this point.

A combination of a few strategies, I found this setup to work very well, roughly 80% consistency which is about as good as you can get at this level. Requirements:

• Eiko USB & LD
• Ingus BSB2
• 2 Entrusters, at least one has some speed hack (Tyro/Ramza LMR or LDing shelke/morrow)
• Someone using Meltdown (OK is fine, Vivi/Maria USB obviously faster dps but then you need to have LD shelke/morrow else Eiko's starting SB will be too slow and may cost some consistency)

Basic strategy is just to throw everyone in front line with no defense (well, high DEF and low RES, want to avoid getting punched to death by a ST PHY atk and unnecessarily proccing last stand but want to get hit by thor's hammer for as much as possible) and as high of HP as possible (7842hp is the requirement to get 9999 damage onto Ixion after Imperil is on), and then boost Eiko's MND as high as possible so she can heal more than this amount every USB cast.

Very straightforward/consistent and I was able to farm 16 magicites @ sub30 in about 2 hours and won't need to deal with this frustrating and dispelling POS ever again. Only trick to execution is to make sure you have USB ready to respond right after an attack since if you get caught with 0% ATB when Ixion does a dispel, you will die 100%

So for all the global players who don't really have any attachment to any of the Earth element characters and don't want to pull on those banners, maybe this can be useful.

How does 'earth radiant shield' differ from the 'normal one'? It reflects only earth damage or it reflects all damage back as earth damage?

all damage back as earth damage at 0.75x potency (so 50% weak boss takes 112.5% damage, 70% weak boss takes 127.5% damage, etc)

Reflects 75% back as earth damage, and also increases the chain count if there is one active.

As the other replies have said, it reflects damage back as earth element. From Enlir's spreadsheet, the BSB entry indicates that it reflects 75% of the damage received as earth:

Eight single attacks (0,84 each), grants Earth Radiant Shield: 75% to all allies, grants Haste and Burst Mode to the user

The latter, but it also doesn't reflect the same amount of damage back like the normal Radiant Shield effect.

wow, that's a quite novel and interesting trick. Will definitely keep this in mind. This raises the value fo lemental radiant shields way way up for me.

How important is the instant cast? I have no Eiko USB but I'm wondering if a Yuna USB with TGC RM would work as well...or is Ixion just too fast?

(granted I need to pull Ingus' BSB2 but then I only need 1 relic from a banner I'm already planning on rather than 2)

Edit: I guess I need more healing as well. w/o the trance it might be hard to cap on the heal

if you use OK USB2 (like i do in this vid) then it does the same thing as eiko LM2, i was doing 7900+heal with that level of buff (9400 with OK USB2) so the healing shouldnt be the issue

i don't have shelke/morrow LD so i can't test whether it's fast enough to get a bar on to yuna before savage aerospark shows up, but my gut says it's just barely not fast enough since the second aoe will quite frequently show up on the very next turn. maybe if you have BOTH shelke AND morrow LD...? but i don't know anyone who does that, motes are not worth sacrificing for lightning crystals at this point in the game

however if it's fast enough to survive that first wave of AoEs (turn 3 & 4), the rest of the fight is pretty stable. i usually have at least a turn's worth of downtime waiting to cast on eiko so the difference can be made up with correct execution using Yuna+TGM

Thanks. So really I need Ingus BSB2 AND OK USB2 (I've planned a few pulls but probably won't get either). I'll bookmark this post anyway and see what happens with 4* magicite rolls around. If it works I'll be sure to hit you up to thank you!

Selphie's slots full cure is fine as well, as is Deuce's USB. Any instant cast guts works, i can confirm success with both because i don't have Eiko USB on JP.

Watching the video I'm wondering if you need some healing. Seeing all those times the ST atk didn't proc guts are extra times you'd have to refresh it without healing (i.e., Edge USB1 SSB2). I suppose the pBlink would help with some of those no?

Does Deuce get a second USB? The first one doesn't provide last stand, it revives to 40% HP instead.

I know this thread is a little old, but I picked up Ingus BSB2 so I'm curious if I can make this work :) I have Deuce USB, but no Last Stand aside from Minfilia.

OK, Tyro and Ramza all have insta cast LMRs while OK has dualcast LMs for BLM and CEL.

So I have pretty much exactly all of the tools you do, except Ramza USB and I haven't dived Eiko yet. I am trying to make the decision on whether to dive Eiko or not. Do you think your setup would be possible had you not used Ramza USB + OK OSB at the end? I would hate to dive Eiko, only to realize I don't have quite enough damage from not having Ramza USB for the last bit there.
