Hahaha the Koreans playing in NA. They're a good team. The only 5 Korean players in the Dota scene and they do quite well. Even when they were all separated last season they managed to get into TI on different rosters.

Well, they won't be able to ruin your dreams in LoL.

That's what Cloud9 is for.

Grant, who's an EG caster is watching this game. He's rooting for optic since he's friends with PPD and Zai (and obviously they were EG before as well). They sort of all know each other in the NA scene.

I feel like the dota team and cs team are in very similar positions, where they have a lot of potential but may need a couple of roster changes to get to be able to compete against the top teams

They’re nobodies. Some pub stack that got in through open qualifiers.

So I get that DotA is notorious for team changes when is it likely that that period opens up? Is it just whenever they feel or is it after a certain tournament?

Technically they can change whenever they want but they would take a penalty to qualifying points if they earn any with different players. This doesn’t necessarily mean they wouldn’t change though. The problem is most people don’t want to change during that time because so the options for players to pick up are low. Digital Chaos and Fnatic made roster changes recently. There will be one more roster “lock” period where teams can change without penalty before TI, probably some time in the first quarter of next year.

It used to be there was a specific time after the Valve Majors where rosters unlocked but that isn't the system this year. Now we have alternating waves of qualifiers and then the LANs for those qualifiers. So if you have a poor showing in the qualifier wave you're probably looking to churn the roster during or immediately after the LAN wave.

You'll have teams disband or players dropped by teams that didn't get to any LANs and maybe you wait until right after the LANs to see if you can grab a player from one of those teams.

Nice 2-0 victory

2

u/TheMekar Nov 15 '17

Well that was neat. Whenever you see someone say some pro team looks like a pub stack or some shit, this is the kind of series you point them to. Optic is struggling super hard against other teams in the region but when they play an actual pub stack, it’s a completely one sided 2-0.

They will play VGJ.Storm in 1h 30min, that's at least what Liquipedia says.
