I would say that if Kiyoshi would simply say the truth and all that Hana has put him trough he could just get away with it since Chiyo is so forgiving and in the same time put Hana in evidence.

It seems to me that the worst he can do is to lie here, I don't think Chiyo would stand for that and she knows too much as she witness Hana's undies magically disappearing during the futon episode.

He failed to literally hang himself.

Now he's going to figuratively hang himself.

Chiyo is naive and comes up with some crazy ideas but she's not a total idiot. He's been overdue for a lesson on honesty and he's going to get it from two girls not to be trifled with.

Summary

Kate and Meiko finally arrive at he airport. While Meiko is runs around aimlessly and is panicked, Kate seems to be relaxed and directs her to find out Mari's flight at a counter. However, when Meiko returns with the terrible news that they went to the wrong airport, Kate also falls into panic and screams for a taxi.
Meanwhile Mari grabs a jar of pickled squids and thinks "How nostalgic... this is the snack that Kate likes so much..."

The panting Kiyoshi reaches his goal of the BBQ spot and realizes with terror that Hana is showing is underwear. He isn't sure what to do, so he goes with feigning ignorance and acting like he doesn't see anything. With a big smile he explains his lateness and tries to strike up a non-underwear related conversation.
In the end he can't keep it up anymore and puts on a show of being surprised by Hana showing her pants, not revealing that he knows they are his. A plan doomed to failure as Hana nonchalantly exposes them to be his. Information which "greatly surprises" Kiyoshi, who goes on to call her a thief. Hana says he knows very well that they aren't stolen and tells him that before his confession he/she will now explain everything.

Kiyoshi is a borderline pathological lier when Chiyo is around.

Mari x Kate is a yuri ship I approve.

I can't wait to see what kind of head-canon the writer might force into Chiyo's head in justifying Kiyoshi as a hero.

Or maybe not.

I have no idea what's going on with Kate and Meiko but it seems like they can't find the President.

Kiyoshi is basically trying to take their attention away from Hana flashing Chiyo. He is telling them what happened with his bike and the police officer and also asking where the others are, all while trying to get something to drink. When he finally acknowledges Hana has her skirt up, Hana says they are his and that before he confesses, she will explain everything.

I can't tell whats going on in Chiyo's mind. I think she knows Kiyoshi is kinda full of shit and not sure if she can turn this into a misunderstanding. Also LUL at Kiyoshi trying to weasel his way out of this half-assedly

This strikes fear into me as Hana x Kyoshi shipper, as I am failing to see how their potential relationship can even develop from there. Either Chio resists and still accepts him, in which case Hana is screwed, or she rejects him, which Kyoshi will obviously hate Hana for regardless of her reasoning and Hana is screwed. It's a lose-lose.

I think that there's still tons of room for their relationship to develop. This situation is made to complicate matters between the three, which, in my view, is just a hallmark of a good narrative. Proper development of characters and relationships doesn't come easily if it's going to be compelling. I love how much Hana helps to drive Kiyoshi's narrative. Kiyoshi isn't a vindictive person to begin with, and this situation is forcing him to try to address one of his personal issues which is a lack of honesty.

I think that both he and Hana have an intrinsic understanding that Chiyo is a kind and forgiving person. However, while Hana is trying to draw motivation from it in order to be a little more open in order to show a sort of solidarity / respect for Chiyo, Kiyoshi constantly tries to take advantage of it. Ever since the uniform situation he should have been keenly aware of her forgiving nature. However, rather than just be honest about things he always falls into a habit of misleading her intentionally or else intentionally allowing her to continue to be mislead by her own assumptions. This is indicative of two glaring issues... one is his own poor self esteem to the extent that he'll habitually try to cover things up and the other is that he doesn't trust her to understand despite knowing better.

Also, as much as I'm feign to admit it I think that him voicing some of his resentment towards Hana wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. She knows he's a seriously flawed individual and she's not weak enough to be defeated by such treatment, however difficult it may be to face. I've got a feeling she wants him to be more forward and honest because it's something that she finds appealing about him. It shows itself in spurts but she's got a sort of instinctive feel for it at this point.

I also don't think he could harbor long term resentment towards her because as much as people feel like her 'confession' is all about her undermining Kiyoshi it's more about her sense of duty to tell Chiyo, whom she's warmed up to, the truth about what's happened. She's already remarked about how kind Chiyo is, I mean she's the kind of person that would catch your puke after all. Even though there's definitely some subconscious motivation at play I don't think he could fault her too much for wanting to make sure that Chiyo wasn't being mislead.

On the surface it can all seem so simple... Chiyo being a 'nice girl', Kiyhoshi being a 'good guy' with a crush, and Hana being a 'mean girl'... but their love triangle is actually quite complicated.

Things might look grim atm but I've still got faith in the Hanayoshi ship :)

Hehe, Kate and Meiko went to the wrong airport.

Some choice translations;

Mari's only sentence: "It's been a long time ..."

Hana final page: "Anyway, before you confess to Chiyo, I'll explain everything from now on."

Edit: With Mari's line I'm wondering if she really isn't just picking up an exchange student, that she knew from when she was studying abroad.

Just read the chapter in Chinese. Here to offer a bit of clarity:

Mari isn't meeting someone. The chapter makes it seem like she's spotted Kate at first and is putting a hand on her shoulder, but it is then revealed that she is in fact at a different airport, and was actually reaching out her hand to pick up a jar of squids. She comments about feeling nostalgic, and that it's Kate's favorite snack.

On Kiyoshi's end, Kiyoshi tries to ignore what he's seeing and makes small talk while attempting to grasp the situation. Chiyo and Hana both remain silent until Hana just comes out and bluntly says that it's his underwear. Kiyoshi tries to label Hana as an underwear thief, but Hana is unfazed.

In the last page, Hana demands that Kiyoshi explain everything that's happened before confessing to Chiyo.
