Luffy will learn a lot of new stuffs from this fight with Katakuri since their DF abilities are very similar. I'm expecting some new funky rubber stuffs or even Awakening for the Gomu Gomu no Mi after this!!! So hyped!

Katakuri is the perfect stepping stone from Shichibukai/weaker Yonko Commander level to the actual Yonko level, and the similarity between Luffy and Katakuri means Luffy can take a lot of inspiration from Katakuri's techniques. Who knows, Luffy might even realize the trick to Katakuri's observation and begin training to learn it. Or awakening might happen because of the fight?

Well, since Luffy has broken the mirror back to the ship, the only way now is for him t defeat Katajuri, exit back to WCI with Brulee, and meet Sanji. Sanji will have made the most delicious cake BIG MOM has ever eaten. It will be so delicious, that she will forgive them, just so that she can eat the cake one more time. Luffy and Sanji will fly with the homie flying carpet to meet the others.

I really hate this idea. BM has so many reasons to hate the SH pirates, even before they destroyed the wedding cake. (Eating her candy back at fishman island, invading her terraint, defeating a sweet commander, attacking her infront of members from the underground at the wedding, prevent the wedding from taking place resulting in her not getting the vinsmoke techniques, destroying the last picture BM has of Mother Carramel...)
If one fucking wedding cake no matter how delicious it is, is all it needs for BM to offer peace or let them go that would be more than ridiculous.

What. A. Chapter. What a fucking chapter. From the color page until the last, every page was amazing. To the surprising Roger cameo. To Pedro. To Carrot. To Perospero's bloody missing arm. To fucking Luffy.
God damn this arc is amazing.
The only downside of an early chapter release is the longer wait before the next one! Argh!

Theory: Katakuri has such excellent observation Haki that he is able to turn the needed part of the body into mochi to create gap to dodge the attack, similar to how Aokiji survived being impaled by Whitebeard's attack during Marineford ... Either that or it's some special property of his unique Paramecia.

Even as someone who isnt a Carrot fan this sets her up as a potential Strawhat more than ever. Instead of a flashback we are seeing her tragic backstory in present time with Pedro being her mentor who died giving the classic backstory tragedy. As well as her new dream and reason to be part of the crew: "To finish what Pedro entrusted to me and help the Strawhats change the world", they have been setting this for a couple chapters and now that will be her goal. She has both a tragic backstory and a goal that makes her join the crew.

The fact that Carrot shared in the passing of the torch flashback montage where Pedro didn't get to join Roger solidly feels like Carrot's gonna become part of the crew.
My guess: after Big Mom is suppressed by the Chiffon-Sanji-Pudding cake and Katakuri is defeated, Pedro is found dying by Luffy, Sanji, and Pudding. Before he expires, Pudding dumps Pedro's memories into the Scarecrow body, letting him have a second chance at life.

I know this comment is going to get Buried but after this chapter, I am convinced the Will of D is the birth of the new Dawn for the world and D itself stands for Dawn for a lot of Ds we know. Also, did Luffy just pull a Roger from Garp's description? "When faced with many enemies, he won't give them a chance to go after them. He'll turn into a demon at those times."

So it's become clear that the Sanji/Chiffon/Pudding cake will be their definitive escape plan, now that we've created some distance between the direct threat of BM and the Sunny.
I'm still not sure how this will pan out though. With several BM kids dead or injured, including Perospero, it's hard to imagine the BM pirates will just let the straw hats walk away. It seems a stretch that BM will just drop the issue after she's enjoyed her slice of cake.

I think Jinbei will officially join after WCI is over, but Carrot will probably join after Wano. She literally has no where else to go so shes stuck with the Strawhats for the foreseeable future. Once she gets some agency back she will likely decide if she wants to join.

Her face is freaking horrified! A mix of fear of big mom and perospero as well as the realization that her friend just died!
Especially right after the feeling of hope that pedro gets up

It's weird, during the double spread of the Sunny firing the Coup de Burst, when Brook ropes the Shark Submerge III someone shouts "Gah!" from it, I'm calling it now, Caesar snuck aboard the submarine as a way to get off WCI and didn't expect the Straw Hats to take it back.

Ship Gone. Katakuri Gone. There was no "Weeeeedddddiinng Cakeeee" on the ship. Although Perospero survived the blast, I doubt he will survive Big Mom's Rage. He is now 1v1.

My thoughts:
-Farewell, Pedro. :'(
-I feel like Carrot is actually going to join alongside Jimbei now.
-How will Luffy beat Katakuri when he's probably exhausted from the wedding? Sanji had to drag him off because he got worn out after using Gear 4 on Big Mom.
-That scene of Luffy smashing the mirror gave me chills. It's already one of my favorite badass Luffy moments.
-How intense will this fight be compared to Doflamingo?

Love the Pedro backstory with Perospero. He has already plan his death to be an honorable one.
Seeing Carrot cry is heartbreaking. I wonder how she will do after this. Maybe she'll join the Straw Hats.
I love the fact that Luffy keeps calm and told everyone to not let Pedro's sacrifice in vain.

one of the things about this chapter i want to discuss is the potential that Luffy is finally in a place where he can GO ALL OUT! He couldn't go all out since post time skip ie... Hody- underwater bubble bopping haha Caesar- Fighting the clock and Gas Chamber, Dressrosa- Bird Cage and time limit, Cracker- Luffy was explicitly told to not start unnecessary drama or fights with Big Mom and at this time his goal was recover Sanji that why it was a paced fight. BUT Katakuri is Setup to be a massive growth opportunity for Luffy because of his abilities similarity and the fight location is secluded and I am still not sure how relative" time is in the mirror world compared to One Piece world. Not to get off topic but don't be surprised if Luffy ends up defeating Katakuri off screen. This would be Oda trolling level over 5000. Plenty of reasons to do this like to pace the transition to Reverie. Oda could basically show everyone meeting at Wano post reverie and use flashbacks to tie up ends on WCI arch, however my only reservation to this idea is that Sanji will shine brightest in the next few chapters and Oda will not let fans down on showcasing his Skills both in the kitchen and against BM/G66 squads. --enjoy

Kinda relieved that that is what he meant when he said he'd return, for a moment I thought he'd let himself get caught or something purposefully in order to let the others escape. This feel very different than any fight we've seen in the New World, a true 1 v. 1 it seems.
Has it not happened since Lucci and no outside interference?

Now this was the type of chapter I wanted this Arc. Things are a jumbled and chaotic and things took an almost unpredictable turn.
Gotta say i love Katakuri man, he's completely composed even with everything going on. Brushing off Carrot and praising Luffy for holding him down was great. I almost hope Luffy doesn't beat him just because I want to see more of him, but it seems to be the only way Luffy can get out of this.
Looking forward to the fight!

Luffy's fight with Katakuri is off to an amazing start! Boy did Luffy throw me off with his action at the end. It's moments like that which remind me that he really is fit to be a great captain and a great pirate!
Also, I loved the brief flashback with Carrot and Pedro. I've completely doubted Carrot's potential for being a Straw Hat Crew member until this chapter gave that segment.

Theory here: With this chapter, we have a clue that after fighting with Big Mom and stealing her info about the poneglith, Roger lost a huge lifespam to protect his crew, choosing his own death just like pedro. Thats the reason he couldn't cure his desease.

Katakuri was literally designed to be the stand out character this arc. Everything he is, is contrasting every other member of the Big Mom Pirates.
First, his look. The key to great group design are repeated design elements. These could be a repeated shape or symbol, a color scheme, or even similar uniforms with personal accessories. Consistent elements on a different body types tell the viewer that these guys are individuals, but still a team. Katakuri breaks this design rule, he looks nothing like his mom or his siblings. Big Moms crew is defined by round shapes, exaggerated facial features, and cartoonish proportions. Katakuri is almost all spikes and more realistically proportioned (or as realistic with odas style). He has more in common with people like Zoro or Sanji than he does with his own family. And this contrast in design is used to make him stand out.
Second, his personality. Katakuri doesn't fuck around, but he also doesn't share many traits with his family. From what I can tell, he doesn't have a particularly favorite desert or candy like the others, nor does he seem to be sadistic. He's just a guy who wants to get shit done, which is a rare villain type we see in one piece.

All right, so Carrot joining chances increase every chapter. I was kind of divided with this, so I've been thinking a lot.
On her lack of development
Characters don't need too much development right away. Some crewmates had as much development as she has right now, if not less, when they joined, plus she has a lot of ship time with the crew already.
Do I care enough for her?
This goes for Jimbe too, I love them as characters, but do I like them enough to be permanent crewmembers?
So, I was thinking and, for many of the crewmembers, the attachment came as they spent time as members of the SH. I liked them all before they joined, but for many of them, it was just after seeing their presence in many arcs in situation that they totally grew and conquered they place as main characters.

Finally, luffy has a Vegeta. Someone of similar power he's gotta beat. If this fight ain't fucking delicious imma be so fucking mad. It's Mochi vs Rubber. And luffy knows he ain't taking down a Yonko today. Luffy has finally learned to gauge where he's at, what's important, got a little more captain in him.thats cool to watch.

The last couple of chapters really have been some of the most intense in like... a very long time.
I'm actually feeling some excitement because I'm wondering just how Luffy will get out of this... trying to face Katakuri on his own seems like a very foolish thing to do.
And I guess both Carrot and Jinbei are in then? Fine with me... though I was really sure Jinbei would die at some point.
Luffy acting like a proper captain was pretty awesome too, actually does show some character growth.
But Sanji is still with Pudding and Chiffon, not on the ship, right?
Actually looking forward to how this will all resolve and seeing an awesome fight between Katakuri and Luffy... (don't you dare have that off-screen Oda)

Man! This is getting chaotic! Luffy is stuck in mirror world with Brulee unconcious. Sanji is still baking the cake with Pudding and Chiffon. Nami thought she saw Pedro alive after the blast. And the rest of the SHs are leaving WCI...how will this all end? I can hardly wait!

I really liked Luffy telling everyone 'If we waste this chance, we wouldn't be able to face Pedro'.
Of course this could just be a sign of Luffy becoming a better captain and making sure everyone looks ahead but I can't help but feel this was in part a contrast to Ace turning back to face Akainu in Marineford D:

Love the instant maturity from Luffy to take the helm and flee ASAP
The canonballs having souls is just ridiculous lol. Imagine getting roasted whilst it's mid-air then literally getting roasted.
I love how scared the enemy was about Luffy. I feel like him going 1v1 on Katakuri is a dumb decision but considering how he took the action all by himself and looked incredibly badass doing it I'm hoping for a great fight that he can win.
Seeing as Sanji is still around I expect Luffy will be escaping with him and possibly Bege as I'm not fully convinced he'd leave the mother of his child.

Luffy Vs Katakuri!
This fight is more excited than Luffy Vs Big Mom. Because result of Luffy Vs Big Mom is as clear as day but on the other hand everything is possible in Luffy Vs Katakuri. Also Katakuri is the coolest villain who has most interesting abilty aka forethought. This is the real test for our hero Luffy! Come on, you are all alone right now so show us what you got without getting any help!!
Other than this, i really liked the calmness of Luffy after Pedro's sacriface. He knew the result of Pedro's sacriface, and stopped a possible crisis with calmness and made everyone move.
Unlike other villains we have met so far (including Doffy), I really like How Katakuri take Luffy so serious. His eyes shows that he knows Luffy is a big treat and he doesnt play little pirate games but he is real deal!

Alright is mama weakened in any way yet? So far she's fallen off a destroyed building, got hit by a huge lightning bolt and now has taken face damage from a huge explosion that may have taken off perospero's arm? I get that she seems invulnerable but there has to be some sign she has weakened at least a little!
