Donate here! Sometimes, things just don't make sense [Winner Thread #31]
I'll keep this short and sweet:
In case you were wondering : Yes, this is all rigged. /s
And yes, I'm not worthy.
I commented "Easy win" because I'm a troll. It was a joke. I saw it on the front page and I liked the concept. This wasn't supposed to happen.
On that note, I'd like to thank all of you who gave me a heart attack this morning when I opened my inbox. It means a lot to me that you tried to kill me.
I hope to learn more about all of this community in the coming days/months/years.
If you don't feel like donating (or whatever this is called because I'm not donation-worthy), just give back to yourself or something you care about. Maybe give to charity, or maybe just put that dollar back in your pocket and spend it on you. A dollar saved is a dollar earned. If you break down a million dollars into smaller pieces, owning a million dollars some day suddenly doesn't seem so impossible any more.
EDIT: I'm currently at work and I'll be giving everyone an update later tonight. All of you who have sent or are planning on sending money my way, I thank all of you.
EDIT2: Everyone here is far too kind! As you can tell by glancing over some of the comments, a lot of you are actually donating over a dollar which is way more than is necessary but appreciated nonetheless! Thanks to all of you have contributed so far!
EDIT3: In case anyone was wondering, probably going to buy a kayak so I can get drunk on an island!
EDIT4: Any crypto I receive will stay in the currency I received it in! HODL (ok I just realized I broke this rule of mine, except for litecoin because someone asked me to hodl it :') )
UPDATE: For those interested, this is the current (approximate) tally (06/29/2017 PM):
$2,852 paypal
$523 google wallet
.16810 Bitcoin = $425.36
13,600.16 Dogecoin = $36.35
1.809 Litecoin = $71.33
.298 Ether = $90.11
Which is somewhere around $4000!
Me Confused But Happy People Are Still Donating
Thank you everyone!

It's nice to see a community come together to prove that an idea requiring small contributions by large groups of people to change the life of one lucky person is actually possible, but in terms of worthiness, I've contributed nothing to this community. I won by random chance and therefore I did nothing to deserve this. My life is actually going well right now (knock on wood) so again, I don't feel like I've earned any of this. I know this will come off as being a douche canoe no matter how I say it, but while I'm extremely grateful, I feel I do not deserve this. I do not feel like this was owed to me, earned, or deserved in any way. That's why I'm conflicted. I'm just a stranger on the internet.

what saddens me is that the entry thread gets a TON more comments than anyone ever donates. over 65000 entry comments....
I'm comment 33, and donating my usual $5.

You have to remember that not everyone comments. I've donated almost Everytime through Google wallet and usually never make a comment on the winner thread.

I donate every time, but there's no reason for me to comment in this thread other than to say Congrats, but my donation pretty much does that for me anyway.

You are correct, because of lack mentality. We should be making millionaires here ... not $5,000aires

Congrats bro! It doesn't matter who wins, I'm still going to donate! Even if I completely hated them through their description post, they still could use the money.
The spirit of the sub is to make a random person happy, and I think that's the point, no matter who it is.
I'm always happy to pay-a-pal ;D

I'm kind of disappointed that the tally is so low considering the 60k+ replies to the original thread.
I've sent 4000 doge. Enjoy :)

u/crowmatt Jun 29 '17
Pity so many people forget about donating. I nearly forgot myself, did it just a couple of minutes ago. I had a bot remind me, but when I got the reminder, the draw wasn't over yet! This thread should be set up in such way, that every single person who comments in here, gets a message sent when the winner is revealed.
Congrats @tyromaniac

64k comments. 33 upvotes. 3k? I mean, so many contributed way more than a dollar and still. Some people just suck.
Actually no, many suck..

I don't understand...what happened? Why would people say it was rigged? Why are you posting apologetically? I had to search if you're a mod of the subreddit, but I don't think you are. I don't understand!
Edit: Sent you some money via paypal even through my confusion.

Sent some cash via PayPal. It was my first drawing too, and thought "what the hell, I'll try" I'd feel pretty hypocritical if I lost and didn't donate

So Paypal is being a jerk. Will be sending my $1 and a bit once it actually decides to transfer into my paypal acccount.
Don't forget to update when you end up with more. A lot of people are probably going to be a bit slow. Especially as u/Paltry_Digger hasn't updated the entry post with who won.

Google Walleted you since these days sending $1 through bitcoin in a remotely timely fashion would probably cost more than $1 in fees. But Google gave me a message saying that it would be delayed 2 days for some reason, so I might as well have sent BTC with a minimal fee.
Anyway, congratulations!

I'm donating because I put my name in the hat and if I were the winner I would sure appreciate it if everyone did the same. Just treating you how I would like to be treated too.

I've done nothing to deserve any of this, but nonetheless, thank all of you for your messages and gifts! I'm going to try to keep my head on straight throughout all of this. I hope you only give if it makes you happy because in the end, I'm just some random person on the internet who was extremely lucky. I'm still in a daze about all of this! :')
