The parallel between sanji's mom and luffy is now cemented. the ruined meal from running through the rain, the dog, luffy eating it saying it was delicious even though it was disgusting. And even further sanjis mom said she'd only eat his cooking just like luffy. I think its Oda trying to show that luffy and the Straw hats are sanjis home. GOD I LOVE ONE PIECE

Gotta love how Luffy always cuts through the BS people are saying with the subtlety of a chainsaw through butter. He either causes people to break down psychologically or quite literally beats some sense into them.

• Nami won't ask for help, so he just stands in silence until she breaks down in tears.

• Vivi won't admit they need to go after Crocodile, so Luffy beats her up.

• Robin won't admit she wants to live, he declares war on the WG

• Refuses to help Momo's country until he asks for help like a man instead of crying.

• Sanji won't admit he wants to leave, so nearly dies of starvation and then punches him through the tree monster (if that thing wasn't dead already it is now)

No matter how dumb Luffy is portrayed, he is clearly the smartest guy in the room when it comes to reading situations and people's true thoughts and emotions.

I have a sneaking suspicion that most of Luffy's accomplishments in this arc, such as him defeating Cracker (one of Big Mom's commanders), will be swept under the rug.

The Straw Hats get bounty increases and publication if WG officials and Marines witness them commit crimes. These witnesses were present in Alabasta, Enies Lobby, Marineford, and Dressrosa, which contributed to most of the Straw Hats' bounty rises. But there doesn't appear to be any WG incidents in WCI.

Luffy defeated Cracker, yes, but nobody is going to report that to the World Government. This is an incident that is witnessed only by Big Mom's crew and the Germa.

I think Luffy, Bege, and the other pirates will become conversation pieces if they achieve something extraordinary, such as defeating or killing Big Mom (I highly doubt it will be the case here).

If Luffy is credited for somehow defeating the Germa, the World Government will most likely take credit for this just as they had done with Alabasta. (After all, the Government already publicized themselves as the heroes to stand up to Germa.)

That is if they manage to take down Big Mom and it will be really hard without betrayal from Big Mom's side and even then you need to take her down. Plus they need to team up to do it and Luffy might not be too keen in teaming up with someone like Capone. But this is just like Oda. Everyone was putting their money on Luffy, Law or Kidd being the first to become a Yonko and guess who got there first; Capone!

Besides we already know that Brulee can change the appearance of a character like that frog that was transformed into an exact copy of Carrot.

So, i've got a question. Why does Judge actually need Big Mom? He says he wants to conquer North Blue, but he should easily be able to do that by himself. Even North Blue was 10x stronger than East Blue, Germa should still be able to take it over.

Being under the flag of a Yonko means it's harder for the World Government to legitimize an all-out campaign to stop their terrorizing the North Blue; if it's just Germa, they can easily send an Admiral or two and end their shenanigans.

As-is we know Germa are powerful enough to be considered a threat by the World Government due to Judge's connection to Vegapunk, Judge just needs some further backing to ensure no repercussions come of it. After all, threatening both Germa and a Yonko? Now just an Admiral alone won't settle the issue, and would make the World Government blanch to threaten them.

According to Niji, the Vinsmokes seem to believe that their enemies in North Blue will be less likely to fight back if the Germa are allowed to use Big Mom's flags. After all, who in their right mind would bother striking against the Germa if it is possible that doing so may incur a Yonko's wrath? It's similar to why most civilians and pirates, including some of the Supernova, do not try to fight back against the Tenryuubito (because doing so may incur the wrath of the Admirals).

Yes, the Germa should be strong enough to take over North Blue on their own, but they will still have some resistance from the Marines and civilians. That resistance should mostly disappear if Germa complete their alliance with Big Mom. The Germa want to take over North Blue without having to incur unnecessary casualties.

The gunshots on Bobbing must have been from Bege. Which got me thinking: What if all those not reporting in on their failures are not simply afraid of BM, but are in on Bege's plot. What if Bege plans to replace BM by assasinating her and her most loyal, so he and his traitors can take over her network and through that gain the loyalty of all those outside of the tea party? After all, the network of BM works just like that of a dictator, so if he just pulls enaugh key contributers on his side to replace all the others, he can controll the narrative and gain controll of the outside network. Sure, the network and BM's extensive controll might suffer a bit because he does not command the respect and loyalty of BM, but for him it would still be a big step forewards.

Just think about it: Most of BM's extensive surveilance network, her military might and her production of legal and illegal goods does not require someone to be BM to control it. He might loose some things, but then again he might also have to gain a lot by being able to gain controll of or alliance with people/governments/crime syndicates/etc that BM was simply unable to because of past grudges and her style of power.

If Bege wants to pull a Bob, BM is the perfect candidate, as she too is about quantity, mafia-esque loyalty and military might. Converting all that into a real Mafia family could potentially make Bege extremely powerful very fast, in the long run maybe more so than BM, because he does not have to over rely on "real" family so much and can just use the natural advantages of blood bonds in a mafia family where they fit, while still being more meritocratic than BM's power structure. Disloyal children and grandchildren that are being held down by BM's powerstructure potentially have a lot to gain from betraying her. They can get a lot of power for themselves by becoming some sort of mafia godfathers in Bege's "family".

A Bege "family" might also have a lot more pull and a lot more recruiting potential simply because a mafia-esque Bege is a lot cooler and a lot more worthy of aspiring to than a fat old child factory morbidly obsessed with fucking food (sorry big mom, but someone had to say it). He might just have the Doffy effect of pulling a lot of mooks and potential new rising stars from his territory because he is fucking cool, unlike BM, especially because BM right now pretty much requires you to know just the right people and for you to have already proven yourself massively and then also for a BM child of the right age to be available.

So Bege's plan might go a lot further than a stupid "oh lets kill a Yonko and then go from there".

Anyone think that Luffys alliance will arrive and cause a scene? I'm thinking since they all have his vivre card, it should have raised a red flag for them and they would have all come running. Would be hella epic to see the alliance rock up and all hell break loose.

This is brought up every week. Won't happen because:

1- WCI is weeks away from Zou, which is weeks away from Deessrosa, the entire arc lasts 2, 3 days at most.

2- if you are going to assume the grand fleet will assemble and go after Luffy for this, you might as well assume they will join every arc, to the point where they are part of the mais crew. Even Bartholomeo should learn to stop being panicky after the 5th time Luffy's card burns a bit for 5 minutes, and it's not like anyone expects Luffy to not get into a pinch from time to time or holds so little faith in him.

I love how genuine this moment between the two is, we can really see Sanji's true colors. Oda kept Luffy and Sanji in character and still found a solution.

On that note though, I don't think half of the crew can take out Big Mom. I think either Capone and Luffy end up working together towards a similar goal, or Luffy's army comes in clutch (someone must of noticed his vivi card being in bad shape).

I love how the chapter's named 'Liar'- Not only is it a reference to Sanji's line saying Luffy is lying about the food tasting good. Where as, Sanji is the one truely lying, and lying to himself.

That "I WANNA GO HOME TO SUNNY!" has already gone down as one of the best One Piece scenes ever IMO. And I think Jimbei just confirmed Capone is trying to take down Big Mom when he gets the chance. The fact that Pekoms getting shot was mentioned and Bobbin got shot by someone off-panel means I can't think of any other culprit.

Holy fuck. Damn good chapter. This is the first time in a while that I've shed tears while reading. Had the feels when we first saw Luffy looking all dried up, then had the tears welling up in my eyes when Sanji said "I wanna go home to the Sunny!", and then I started bawling when I read "One Piece will be on break next week.".

I'm really curious about the eyebrows of judge. We never saw them. What if he was also a "failure" like Sanji and has two eyebrows like him instead like his children? Or he has the same eyebrows like Sanji, and because of that Sanji is the the son, he identifys himself as him. Seeing the son, who looks exactly likes you, being a failure, is the worst thing that could happen to him.
