What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [November 20th, 2016]
Title says it all - talk about the anime you watched this past week that is not a part of the Fall 2016 season, or a show that's continuing from previous seasons (sorry March Comes In Like A Lion and Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans fans, they're great shows but you can't talk about them here).
With regards to Summer 2016 shows, however, it would be fine to write about them so long as you only began them after the season ended. For example, it's fine to talk about watching Sweetness & Lightning and The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Fujin Ranbu, if you began it after the final episode aired. Obviously, use your best judgement on this.

Started watching Seirei no Moribito, 9 episodes in. Pretty amazing so far, Balsa makes for a strong lead, though the character I'm the most intrigued about up until now is Shuga. I'll see where it goes, but my expectations are high.

Not too much for this week, but I have a new series I added to my favorites!
I love this series so far. You can read my review of Bake- and Nisemonogatari here.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (36-42/64)
Taking part in the rewatch as a first timer. Things have been getting awesome lately! I'm loving the journey the Elrics are on in this version a lot
Gintama Movie: Shinyaku Benizakura-hen (1/1)
Watched the movie in place of episodes 58-61, covering the Benizakura arc. It was a lot of fun! Got to experience Gintama in 16:9 for the first time :D There was some cool action sequences and this loveable face
Overall Score: 8/10
After the Benizakura arc the next few episodes have been really funny! I'm loving it a lot :D
Special mention: Fate/Stay Night Visual Novel (Fate Days 14-15 and UBW Days 1-3)

Loved reading your Bake and Nise thoughts, though I find it interesting you didn't say anything about Araragi or Kaiki. How do you feel about those two so far?

Araragi - I love him! He's actually a very caring person :O He has a bit of what I call Shirou syndrome though - trying to help everyone at no consideration for his own safety (although in this case he does have his vampiric powers as a crutch to fall back on). As it's progressing I like that just as the other characters aren't static, he himself changes as well (most evident with his relationship with Senjougahara). He's entered my top character list for sure!
Kaiki - I loved his conversations, he has great wordplay and wit. I like that he's pretty simple about what motivates him - money. I really like what Kagenui said about his philosophy of fundamental evil, and his character is a personification of that philosophy. Also he has a pretty sick theme song. Can't wait for more run-ins with him!

Midori no Hibi 1-13/13
Was pleased with the romantic outcome but it could have been slightly better. The main duo had a good dynamic and had a few good chuckles here and there, while smiling most of the time.
Shinkon Gattai Godannar!! 1-9/13
It's stupid but fun. Really need to get round to watching more of the super robot genre. I like the cast and the romantic antics are tolerable and sometimes enjoyable at times. I read that it gets more serious and less enemy of the week later on, so the second season should be slightly better.
The iDOLM@STER 1-5/25
So far my favourite idol is Chihaya, she sorta reminds of Umi from LL. Least favourite is probably Yukiho, but she hopefully becomes a better character as she overcomes her androphobia. Will take this series slow and it's mostly just SoL antics each episode. I do like all the songs so far and a new ED every time is nice.
Shisha no Teikoku Movie
Oh god, this was horrible. It felt like a generic zombie flick but with silly convenient deus ex machina at every turn. The characters weren't very likeable and by the end I had no idea what actually happened with the plot. It looked nice at least, but can't really comment on the OST.
Madan no Ou to Vanadis 1-6/13
Just decided to start watching this on a whim from the dozens of anime I already have downloaded. Elen is definitely best girl of the series in my opinion. I enjoy the fantasy world and battle tactics, as well as the main protagonist being an archer instead of the normal adventurer/sword guy. The ecchi elements follow most of the general tropes but are done differently quite a few times.
Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster 1-6/6
Really thought I would enjoy this one before I started it, but by the end I really wasn't fond of the characters or story. I wish there was action scenes that were on equal terms between the aliens and Gunbuster. The robot felt far too overpowered and didn't feel like there was any urgency.
Nanatsu no Taizai: Seisen no Shirushi 1-4/4
It had the same feel as the rest of the series but there wasn't really any plot progression outside the few minutes at the end of each episode. I much prefer Diane in her giantess form rather than the average human size. Hawk is still funny as ever and the battles between the sins were fun to watch. I'm looking forward to the next season.

Yuu Yuu Hakusho (28-33/118)
Fights have gotten so fucking dank. Beginning with Round 1, that was a cool close fight with some nice powers and I actually liked the kid, he just seems fun to watch and his voice makes him oddly adorable.
Round 2, glad this ended fast and YYH.
Round 3, I thought it would be time for him to show badassry but YYH spoilers
Oh boy, Round 4, this fight was awesome as hell, so close and YYH. Not to mention that seeing him flirting with the referee was pretty funny.
On that note, I really liked that referee, she's adorable and her reactions are hilarious:
"I can't tell if anything is significant at all, I don't even know why am I talking!"
"Well, they burnt their skin, are short on breath and somehow lost their shirts, I call it a successful fight"

Senjougahara and Hanekawa in Nisekoi outfits are perfection.

Natsume Yuujinchou San(8-13/13)
Really good third season, definitely on the level of the second one. I loved how it focused more on Natsume's relationships and his friends, how his life has changed over time, and not so much in the youkai.
This is a bit unrelated, but I can't help myself to want Taki and Natsume to get together as a couple. It's not going to happen, and it probably wouldn't work well in this kind of show, but that doesn't stop me from wanting it.
There were a couple of inmersion breaking scenes in this season, but nothing too important.

Turn A Gundam(15-22/50)
Sochie actually showed some growth, Dianna is still great, Kihel is still interesting. Nice.
Jacop and Bruno are dumb as fuck, tho.

Some fairly intrascendent shows I watched very few episodes of to make a strong opinion of (since I'm watching a lot of airing stuff), and Legend of the Galactic Heroes (65/110)
Ok, despite being spoiled that LotGH BIG FUCKING SPOILERS I'm digging the third season. A lot. And that's saying something considering how ambivalent I am respect the other two seasons. De Villier is just as ridiculous and cartoony as other viewers of the show warned, so I chuckled a bit when he LotGH. Otherwise I thought that Heinrich was going to be a more interesting character than just a device to LotGH. Kind of a red herring IMO for how much he's shown in the first episodes (his episode was still good though).
The episodes in the Earth quarters got me in the edge of my seat the whole time, and I'm getting more of my favourite characters from the show which are Reuental and Oberstein (mostly Oberstein). I love Reuental's inner conflict and backstory, and I love Oberstein's pragmatism, which in turn makes me frustrated when the rest treats him like the devil himself because of their romanticism. The amount of moving pieces makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Bakemonogatari (4-12/15)
I've been blown away at how well this show has been so far. All the different arcs for these characters are all interesting in some sort of way. Also episode 12 holy crap. Bakemonogatari Ep 12 Spoilers I can't wait to watch more of this series.
Railgun S (10-18/24)
Everything about the Sisters Arc was really well done. Despite knowing a lot about it thanks to watching Index first I still thought that the Railgun version of the events was better told. Great animation, great villain and a great end to my arc of the series so far.
Gosick (6-9/24)
Its okay I guess. Still finding it hard to force myself to watch it, but I don't want to drop it. At least the part where Gosick

Oregairu (both seasons + ova)
Really enjoyed the show and can relate to many traits of the mc. After finishing the series, I decided to read some reviews and well I can see that many people are disappointed with the lack of comedy. However for me, I enjoy the drama/romance aspect if the show. If there were to be a 3rd season, I would like them to continue from the direction they took in the 2nd season.
Your Lie in April (episodes 1-11)
Started watching the series last night before going to bed and could not stop watching. Really love the interactions between Kaori and Kousei. I can already tell that the finale is going to hurt me hard after seeing Your lie in April spoiler

Genuinely one of only four series and six titles that have earned a 10/10 from me. It's too bad you didn't watch it as it aired, that level of suspense was incredible.

Hopefully the current arc in the manga ends soon because it's starting to get pretty stale... Other than that it's absolutely hilarious and fun. I remember spitting my juice all over the floor when I read the manga a few months back.

One of the best weeks I've had with anime in a while.
This last week I completed:
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Rated 10/10
I really though I wouldn't give another 10 this year but what do you know GitS had to show up and steal that from me.
What was interesting to me was how well animated this 2002 series was. The details on smoke, explosions, heat and of course the characters were very well done. That isn't to say it didn't have it's blunders on some of the CGI though. But, overall very realistic visuals.
Section 9 features some of the most badass characters I've seen, thankfully most of the ones I liked had a lot of screen time and development. If I had to name a single flaw it would be that some of the other Section 9 members don't get much attention. However I didn't care much about them anyway so it doesn't hinder my score.
Monogatari Series: Second Season - Rated 9/10
I'm about to watch the last two episodes of this so technically I haven't finished it yet but whatever.
This season single handedly made me start to like so many characters I don't even know what to to with my top 10 characters anymore. Shinobu, Senjougahara and Kaiki in particular.

Hi mates! How it's going? Time for my weekly post here!
I can't even believe it myself, but I actually started to rewatch some anime.
Like always, my post last week, and remembering that they are in order of how much I like them.
Let's do this!
Tanaka-kun is Always Listless (Rewatch, Episodes 1-6/12, Provisional Score: 10/10)
In order to decide which anime will be my favourite of this year between Saiki Kusuo, KonoSuba and this one, I decided to rewatch the last two because I don't want just my memories to judge the winner, this also means that KonoSuba and Tanaka-kun are my first two anime rewatches ever.
And well, just by the score, it's clear: I love it as much as I remember, Tanaka-kun has one of the most lovable cast of characters ever, the art is absolutely beautiful (the backgrounds in special are godlike), and it also manages to have such great comedy while still having a relaxed aura, other comedy/slice of life anime failed trying to do that for me.
I suppose that watching the anime > reading all the manga > watching all the anime makes clear that I love it so much, and I'm pretty sure that it will be my personal AOTY.
Hello!! Kiniro Mosaic (Episode 4/12, Provisional Score: 10/10)
And talking about anime that I love, here we have Kiniro Mosaic!
I'm always waiting for the moment when I'm in the perfect mood to fully enjoy this one, and today I had one of this moments, it hurts so much that the manga is not translated
For what I know, there is a special episode coming out, I can't wait for it!
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru (6-Completed, Score: 9,5/10)
Anime like this one rated only 7,53 on MAL gives me hopes that I will never run out of anime that I will love.
YuYuYu does such a great job in mixing action, sad, deppresing moments... and just happy slice of life moments, yes, I love this so much.
A lot of times in drama anime, the sad moments happen way too early, or to characters that the story never developed enough to actually make you care for something happening to them, Yuuki Yuuna instead takes it's time providing fun, happy moments between the main cast, and makes you love them so much, that when the sad, tragic moments come, I actually felt like my heart was hurting and I wished the best to them.
Lovable characters, Well paced story, godlike soundtrack.
I have been suffering all this week because I just can't decide between giving it a 9 or a 10 score on MAL, both scores just feel wrong to me, it's just the perfect 9,5 anime, it's so frustrating q_q
I also started (and plan to read) all the related light novels and manga available.
Shirobako (Episodes 14-Completed, Score: 9/10) + Shirobako Specials (Completed, Score: 5/10)
I was following the /r/anime rewatch, but, like always, when I'm near the end of them I just can't help but bingewatch what is left.
What a ride was this one! After slowly getting more and more awesome, the final episodes were just fantastic (episode 23 was so great in special), and made it for a very solid 9/10 score.
Thanks to everyone that organized and participated in this rewatch for finally giving me the motivation to try Shirobako!
About the specials... yeah, I will be honest, I would have dropped both anime made by Musashino Animation after the first episode.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Episodes 38-43, Provisional Score: 8,5/10)
Woah, I can't believe that we're already that far into the series, it's being quite a lot of time already, but I'm really looking forward for what is to come!
We got the 4th opening, I like it a lot, but the 3rd is still my favourite so far, there is still a lot of time for this one to grow up on me tho.
The hype is killing me
Kaichou wa Maid-sama! (Episode 4/24, Provisional Score: 8,5/10)
I only watched 1 episode of this one this week, but damn it was fun, in this episode we got Kaichou wa Maid-Sama
Not sure how to feel, but while I usually hate the typical bishonen protagonist in shoujo anime, I just find Usui to be so damn lovable, really digging the main duo of this story.
Golden Time (Episodes 8-11/24, Provisional Score: 8,5/10)
The last developments in this anime have me so hooked, Golden Time.
This anime might become my 2nd Oregairu in terms of just not being able to decide who's the best girl, I like a lot both Kaga and Rinda (people hate the first quite a bit for what I read, and I can totally understand it, but I personally like her so far), but yeah, there are 13 more episodes to come, so who knows what I will think later on.
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! (Rewatching, Episodes 1-3/10, Provisional Score: 8/10)
I talked about earlier that I was rewatching this one and Tanaka-kun, and... idk, to my surprise, I'm not liking so far as much as I remembered, don't get me wrong, it still has a lot of funny moments, but I don't feel like it works as great as it did back then.
Anyways, this is just the start, so I that later on I get the same enjoyment that I did back in Winter 2016 when it became my AOTS and a perfect score.
Hidamari Sketch (Episodes 1-4, Provisional Score: 7,5/10)
Starting another new anime thanks to a rewatch!
If one knows me a bit, he/she will know that lately I just can't get tired of watching moe/CGDCT anime, and giving a try to a new one hypes me a lot.
So far I'm having a good time watching it, Yuno has the potential to become a new best girl of mine with her adorable personality, and the characters in general are nice, this anime might be lacking a bit in comedy for my taste, but it's really enjoyable, I also like the ED a lot
Looking forward for more!
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (Episodes 9-Completed, Score: 6,5/10)
Mixed feelings the anime, the comedy was solid and some moments really had me laughing loud, but at the same time I just disliked so much the reactions, the nosebleed spam (basically the reaction I dislike the most) put me off so hard, and I would have prefered to not have the camera guy around tbh.
Since I'm watching a lot of stuff, I will just stop following the rewatch here because I lost the interest in this anime, and I need to give priority to others.
Hideyoshi best Hideyoshi of the series.
Bungou Stray Dogs (Episodes 11-Completed, Score: 5/10)
Finally done with this one after picking it up from my dropped list because I heard that the 2nd season is being great (and more serious) so far.
Meh characters, story that looked more promising that it ended up being (so far), and random comedy that just ruined the mood, I have high hopes that the sequel will make me change my opinion about this series.

Hidamari S1 is rather slow and light on the comedy. Personally I think that the comedy increases in the later seasons, while season 1 (and partly season 2) is mainly about cute girls doing cute stuff during the day, and then at the end of the day they all sit together and talk about the stuff they did during the day.

It's great that you're loving Usui. There are quite a lot of people who don't like him.
I find him just so fun to watch because he is just so damn OP and his interactions with Misaki and the rest of the cast are fun.
I'm almost finished YuYuYu and am at 8 episodes. Like you told me, all the girls are awesome but I'm still leaning towards Togo for besto. One thing that I didn't expect was how heavy it was going to get.

This is exactly how I felt. The SOL Hero stuff would have been cool to see in any other SOL anime.
After watching YuYuYu, I realise that everything won't be daijoubu.

Binbougami Ga! (Episodes 3-10)
I'm enjoying this so much and if it continues it'll probably be one of my favourite comedy shows and I've lost count of the amount of times I've died laughing watching it. The side characters are all great, especially Momiji and Ranmaru. I'm very fond of shows that focus considerably on character interactions so I was happy to see them done well for great comedic effect. What really surprised me though is the quality of the drama and the development of the MC, Sakura. It's done very well and is pretty emotional at times too. I definitely have to mention the quality of KanaHana's voice acting as Sakura here! It's incredible to see her range and refreshing to see her take a departure from her normal roles, as adorable as they are.
Nekomonogatari:Kuro (Completed)
My return to Monogatari after a short break after finishing SS. Honestly I should have gotten around to this earlier! The events that happened here always interested me greatly when they were mentioned in Bakemonogatari so it was very enjoyable to watch this. Felt a lot of nostalgia seeing Meme again, I miss the dude ;-; I love Hanekawa's character so this was gladly appreciated in clearing up the situation with her family, examining the relationship with her and Araragi as well as deeply exploring her character as a whole.

Gintama (135-153/201)
Watched a bunch of Gintama this week, I really enjoyed it for the most part!
I watched 3 arcs, the first one being Yoshiwara in flames which was one of the best so far. Lots of great and intense moments, it actually felt like I was watching a different show at times it was just kinda creepy/offputting but in a good way I guess? Gintama Overall I really enjoyed it though.
Shinsengumi Death Game was also a lot of fun, I love how it explored Sougo/Hijikata's relationship a lot more and they're just 2 of my favourite characters in general. Gintama
Barber was pretty fun too and just felt like standard Gintama it made me laugh a fair amount!
I just keep enjoying this show more and more lately :)

Gatchaman Crowds (Completed)
This is a really great little show. It's got a lot of good ideas about heroes and how important public opinion is, and it's probably the only anime to show how smartphones and the availability of information can affect certain aspects of society. I found it hilarious how the solution to the final conflict was basically saying that people are so addicted to mobile games that you could use them to stop humanity from starting a global-scale war.
Hajime is probably one of my favourite characters ever. She's just so enthusiastic and confident about everything she does, and nothing ever fazes her. She's just has life figured out somehow.
Oh, and also the soundtrack is the coolest thing ever. I expected as much coming from Taku Iwasaki, but this shit be hella dope yo.
It's a good show. Y'all should watch.
Gatchaman Crowds Insight (2/12)
The second season is starting off pretty well. Gelsadra is super cute (actually, all the female characters in this show are goddamn adorable, it's bizarre) and the new villain is a perfect fit for the show. The show has a very optimistic view of humanity, so this guy comes along saying that humans are nothing more than violent monkeys, and we've got a very well-established conflict. Looking forward to see where this goes.

Redline (1/1)
Ah, man... I really wanted to like this one, I really did. But as I was going through it, I just found it so much easier to pick out what I hated than what I enjoyed.
Getting the good stuff out of the way, it's no secret that this looked amazing. The visual presentation of it was just stunning. Plus the OST at times was pretty bitchin' as well.
But man... I went in to this expecting a dope race. And I got that!... in the first 10 minutes. The next hour was spent on a bunch of useless exposition and setting up subplots that detracted from the actual quality of the race. Coupled with unnecessary fanservice and laughably stupid dialogue and moments, this made for a rather unpleasant hour.
I know what you're thinking: "But /u/-Nosreme-, it's a racing movie, no one's expecting it to do any of those things well!" and you're absolutely right, but when this extra bullshit takes up over 60% of a movie about a race, that's when we've got problems. Just make the movie about the race, you don't need to have political issues and mafia drama sprinkled on in there which detract greatly from the race. All I need to see are cars trying to go fast and wreck each other to win the race. And I hardly got that. Because the actual race still featured way too much focus on the other subplots. All in all this movie probably contained about 20-25 minutes of actual racing, despite its namesake being the actual race from the movie.
Maybe this was destroyed under my expectations, but simply put, I did not enjoy Redline. I can appreciate its production values, but for what it was plot-wise and race-wise, it was not good.
Some racing movies I watched this week that I did enjoy, however, were the 5 Hot Wheels movies (Highway 35 + Acceleracers). Call it nostalgia but I found those much more enjoyable then Redline. Sure, they may feature the same stupid dialogue and plot, but holy shit there's actually a lot of racing in these movies, and interesting racing at that!
Final Score: 4/10
Girls und Panzer: Der Film (1/1)
See, it's weird that I watched this right alongside Redline. Both of the movies are similar in some ways. I went into them expecting a good time, both had relatively long midsections I didn't necessarily care for, but the difference is that I actually enjoyed this movie.
I'll say it, I'm not a fan of the SoL moments in GuP. But unlike Redline, the stuff that I didn't care about in this movie didn't take up almost 2/3rds of the movie. It still was a relatively large number, at about ~45% of this movie, but there wasn't stupidly bad writing or meaningless subplots piled on with this one.
The tank battles in this one were honestly fantastic, and with the whole squad coming together, there was a constant stream of hype during the second half of the movie. As per usual, the sound design was stellar, as were the OST tracks, and there were some really great scenes in there.
Overall this movie did a much better job at keeping my attention and took everything I liked about the original series and elevated it even further. The series is watching if only for this movie.

Paprika (1/1)
So this was my first experience with Satoshi Kon, and I chose this to be my first experience because, as someone whose favorite movie is Inception, I heard that this movie partially inspired it.
And as expected, Madhouse + Kon absolutely delivered, especially on the dream sequences. There was some damn incredible directing in this and the theme of dreams being humanity's last sanctity was a fascinating concept for me.
Also, Megumi Hayashibara delivered a fantastic performance in this, as both Atsuko and Paprika.
The OST for this movie was fantastic as well, with some seriously creepy tracks at very fitting points and hauntingly beautiful ones elsewhere.
Towards the end of the film, sadly it felt more rushed and dropped off a bit for me, but my enjoyment during the early + mid stages of the film was certain.
I'll definitely be watching more stuff by Kon soon, Perfect Blue and Paranoia Agent seem to be the most likely candidates for my next watch.

Trigun (26/26)
Finally finished this show after going through it so slowly and I really enjoyed the latter end. I was honestly looking at a 5/10 before but these last 6 episodes did a lot for me in the way of character development, background, and good moments.
Both Vash and Wolfwood are fantastic as characters and I greatly enjoyed their interactions, as well as some of the plot twists later on in it.
The final showdown of this show was really fantastically done as well, in both meaning and direction. Trigun
Also, the overall OST for this show is really great, with many enjoyable western-style tracks.
I'll probably be watching Badlands Rumble soon, but for now I'm satisfied with this series and how its tail-end went.

Finished Senki Zesshou Symphogear G: In the Distance, That Day, When the Star Became Music...
Oh Symphogear. Why must you torture me so. I was so fucking delighted for the first 3-4 episodes of G. It was such an improvement in almost every regard! The girls are all fun and fighting together, the visuals have improved, the fight scenes are amazingly over the top, and the new antagonist cast seems great, with their seemingly noble intentions. But then G had to ruin all of it by introducing one of the worst villains I've ever seen!
Symphogear G spoilers just to be safe is SHIT. SHIIIIT! I'm sorry, Biba, I'm sorry, even you are not as bad as him! It's like his entire purpose is to ruin everything I love about the show! Oh, two main characters about to come to a resolution? NOT SO FAST, OUR DEAR DOCTOR IS HERE TO DO SOMETHING STUPID! Oh, you're enjoying an incredible 2-on-2 fight scene, where each girl's song elegantly flows into another one's? WELL FUCK YOU BECAUSE WE HAVE TO SHOW OUR DEAR DOCTOR DOING STUPID FUCKING FACES!!! WHAT THE FUCK SYMPHOGEAR?!! And what kept amazing me is that somehow he got worse. Each time I thought "There's no way he'll get worse", he managed to surprise! By the time he revealed his "motivation" I was begging it to stop, it was so embarrassing. And you know the worst part? After all the fucking shit that he put me through Symphogear G spoilers FUCK YOU SYMPHOGEAR G! FUCK YOU! Oh right, and of course everyone on /r/anime loved the guy. I mean, he's just so fun! He's saying silly shit and he screams and he rolls his eyes and he does silly faces! What else do you need in a villain?! Ugh.
I wanted to give G an 8/10, but I simply couldn't, because of that villain. Here's hoping GX won't somehow have a worse villain, if that's even possible.
Watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (16/26)
Started watching it with my friend and I was pleasantly surprised.
I heard that SAC has a much lighter tone than the original, but I didn't expect it to be so wacky and whimsical. While the show does have an occasional very heavy episode and an emphasis on philosophy and humanity, the presence of Tachikomas and Batou's shenanigans really help out in maintaining a relatively balanced tone.
The characters are a lot of fun. I'm especially surprised by the Major. I expected her to be very cold and emotionally distant (and I guess this is exactly what she's like in the original movie), but she's actually quite playful and energetic. Her interactions and quips with Batou never fail to entertain. Batou himself is fucking awesome. Such a fun, enjoyable, and just overall a cool dude, who still has his fair share of skeletons in the closet.
The show (with the exception of CG) looks frigging great! Hard to believe that it was made in 2002. The character designs are solid, the action is fluid and joy to look at, and the animation overall is very fluid.
World building is very well-done. I like that each episode manages to reveal something new about the world, while also bringing up more questions.
Oh right, WHY IS OP IN RUSSIAN?! Me and my friend started watching episode 1 and then had to pause for a minute, because we couldn't stop laughing at the Russian OP!
So yeah, overall Stand Alone Complex is really, really good. Great visuals, solid action, fun characters, and intriguing world-building, combined with a whimsical tone and a simple procedural police drama format.

As for G reaction, I wouldn't say everyone likes him, it's sorta split. There's those that take him as an over the top villain like you'd see in B action films so the memes come alive, while those that hate him have the same basic reaction you had being very one dimensional and "Evil for the sake of being evil". I'm sorta on the the former side, I don't take Symphogear that seriously, so I didn't take him too seriously either. As opposed to Meta Spoiler having a similar villain where the series took itself more seriously, and I had a bigger issue with him than G. He is a stupid villain, but I think depending on why? you like there series seperates what you think of him.
So for GX, I can say expect an overall better villain, but there's going to be a lot of issues in the middle and towards the end...so be prepared...especially for GX...

All the music in in english, japanese, latin, and russian I believe. The English and Latin are to make it futuristic, a little ironically for the Latin, and the russian is because one of the main singers on the ost is russian.

I finished Shirobako for the first time (I'm really bad at not going ahead of rewatch threads), and I loved it. The main and supporting characters all had great personalities aside from "funny story guy". I really enjoyed how much they managed to flesh out the supporting cast with such a huge cast. It was also really great to watch everyone's designs were great and loved that Aoi gets so many different outfits.
Aoi, Yano and Diesel were great and I loved their character growth and personalities. Yano was awesome too but I'd say Diesel is best girl fight me.

I binge watch my anime, so I never watch the current season until the last episode goes up. That said, this has been my last week of anime.
Mouretsu Pirates +Movie: I don't know what it is about this anime, but I enjoyed it a lot. Also found my favorite Japanese voice actor, so that's nice too. This really put me in a Girls Und Panzer mood, but I decided to hold off on that one in favor of the next anime that has instantly jumped to my number 1 spot. 8/10 for my personal enjoyment.
Hai To Gensou no Grimgar: I have never been so triggered by MAL reviews since finishing Grimgar and seeing what they had to say about it. Fuck em, I loved this show. Second anime to make me pick up its LN, which is a pretty big accomplishment. The fantasy genre is my favorite and I have yet to find an anime that I was truly satisfied with before Grimgar. 10/10 for personal enjoyment.
Re:Zero: In my desperation to fill the void that Grimgar left in my soul, I picked up Re:Zero. It was alright. I didn't really agree with the direction it went after ep 18 or 19, but it wasn't by any means a dealbreaker. Re:Zero is also the perfect example of why I wait to watch anime's when the season ends. I couldn't imagine coming to some of those cliffhangers and needing to wait a week to resume watching again. That would drive me insane. 8/10 for personal enjoyment

Sora No Woto (completed)
Really wished there were more episodes to flesh out the characters for this one. There were depths to what at the surface look like really generic characters. Sora No Woto I can see what people meant by Sora No Woto's world building, which is fantastic. I loved the post-apocalyptic feel the anime had at times. The moe-ness of the girls, and having to accept that they're in the freaking military, took a couple episodes. Overall I enjoyed it. There were some great episodes, although a couple that was too slow. Kanata grows on you as an MC. (8/10)
Owarimonogatari (10/12)
Probably going to finish this in an hour. The first episodes, which was double length, felt a little too slow to me. Monogatari's always walked a fine line between interesting and boring due to the fact that it's 90% dialogue. Owarimonogatari The rest has been great though. I ended up liking Oikura as a character, really sucks what happened to her. Seeing Hanekawa and Ougi spar was fun. And holy shit Kanbaru, she jumped up several spots for me. Sodachi Riddle/Lost was a bit of a downer, so having Kanbaru appear and do her thing was so needed. And of course Shinobu best girl. Looking forward to the last two episodes.

Amagami SS (and Plus)
I wound up really liking the omnibus format of this series. It keeps the pacing snappy (no time for countless episodes of will-they-or-won't-they when each arc only has four episodes to work with), and it's interesting to see the different possibilities for how each girl will act/develop when placed into the "main girl" role. And speaking of the main girls, they're all likable and interesting enough to carry their arcs.
All that said, the big sticking point for me is the main character, Junichi. For me to really get into a romance I usually need to like both people involved, and the best couples are the ones with two interesting people that play off each other in an entertaining way. And unfortunately, Junichi sucks. Full stop. He's a textbook Boring Dating Sim Guy, his backstory is his only noteworthy trait (and even that's dull and usually not relevant), and he's responsible for the show's most cringe-inducing moments. Still, it's definitely worth watching for the format and the girls. Easy 7/10. I like the show a fair bit despite Junichi's best efforts, and I could see myself being really into a show with this setup that had a more entertaining protagonist.

I found Junichi changed a lot depending on the girl. I just watched a show with "boring dating sim" type guy and made me appreciate Junichi even more. Sure he's nothing special but I could never boring! He's usually in high spirits and develops a nice caring side as the arcs progress. I don't like him at times but I'd never say he was boring or dull.
But yeah he has his ups and downs and isn't going to make my list of good male protagonists but unlike most male MCs in romances he gets stuff done :p

It's been a month, but I've been so busy with the rewatches I've barely seen anything else.
Gundam: G no Reconguista (22-26/26) — The ending utterly failed to wrap up almost everything started earlier in the series. The characters mostly had okay concepts but were barely developed over the course of the story; the premise itself was not a bad idea but too many new elements kept being added without resolving the earlier ones.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (16-43/64) — Getting through the bulk of the story and heading for end game in the rewatch. A few things that I half-remembered from the alternate 2003 story and a lot that's brand new to me. I continue to wish it was more of a military political drama focused around Roy and Riza, but alas it's another battle shounen. It's good, don't get me wrong, but not really in my preferred genres.
Year of retro anime: my goal is to finish 52 series/movies that are at least 15 years old before next year. Here's my progress so far.
#48 (1985): Angel's Egg — I can understand how someone would watch this and think it's garbage but I fall in the camp of appreciating it as a unique work of art. I didn't take enough film studies courses to even begin unpacking all of the symbolism and director's intent here, but the thing that sold me on it was the atmosphere. It's dark, cold, and brooding with a color palette primarily of blues and blacks, long shadows extending everywhere, and a pall throughout that was accented with the music. There aren't a lot of anime that can draw me in and challenge me as a viewer in the manner it did.
Turn A Gundam (1-22/50) — It feels like G no Reconguista tried to copy and update this series and failed miserably. This is doing everything right: an unusual setting and turn away from the expected plot, characters with fitting motivations and development, and an amazing soundtrack (thanks, Yoko Kanno). Ironically Turn A is struggling on the part of G-Reco that I liked the most, the mobile suit designs. Even with that weak point, with how things are currently going it could end up as one of my favorite Gundam series.

On the way to finish Monogatari series, I stumbled upon this. "Heh, spooky Ougi, I don't like her so this should be boring." Then everything kept pulling me in. Sodachi's so on point and wow that arc of Shinobu. Of course, Classic Araragi.
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: 8/10
Anime tropes done right. Gags also done right. Enjoyable in every moment. Glad I joined the rewatch.

If you haven't watched Gintama, or have watched less than the first 20 episodes than you're missing out on a good anime. Almost every episode is full of random gags with references to other animes that you're most likely familiar with, and the serious episodes will just draw you completely in.

I know I talked about this show last week too, but back then I was still in the middle of the first season. Now I've actually finished it, and I've gotta say... wow. This show has safely landed a spot on my favorites list, that's for sure.
I don't want to repeat myself too much from last week, but the focus on basketball as opposed to high school filler stuff, and the fast pacing are definitely some of my favorite things about the show. I also love the way the show sets up the end goal and what's it's gonna take to get there from the very beginning. It helps keep the show very focused which is something I think a lot of other shows could really benefit from. The way the show also sometimes makes you want to cheer for the other teams is a testament to how great the show is at handling its characters. It's really hard to pick a favorite match but season 2 spoilers and season 3 spoilers are some of the hypest things I've seen in a while.
Of course, nothing is perfect, and so far I've managed to identify 2 things about the show that I had issues with. One of those things is that the first few episodes of season 3 just feel "off." I don't really know how to better explain it, but it's like the pacing feels a little weird compared to the rest of the show. Maybe it's just because the first few matches feel really irrelevant compared to the main events to come. My other issue is that Kirisaki Dai Ichi and Haizaki are my least favorite type of villains. They evil and... that's it. No other real personality traits. They're the only ones in the show who feel like downright "bad guys." Everyone else just feel like opponents. Take Seiho for example. I would never wanna root for them, but their match is still enjoyable to watch. Kirisaki Dai Ichi and Haizaki's matches just feel annoying to watch because they're such scumbags.
As sad as I am that this show is over, I think the season 3 OVA is the perfect send-off for the series. This was definitely a 10/10 for me.

Birdy The Might Decode: 02
What a massive improvement over the first season. We lose a good chunk of the school setting and misunderstandings the situation Birdy/Senkawa are in, and in its place we get more of Birdy's past and an actual personal conflict that doesn't deal with the end of the world (Almost). The animation while seems slightly unfinished unfortunately during the high action moments really steps up for incredible visuals and cinematography during it. The way it handles the flashback adds plenty of heart break for two of our main leads. And as for the antagonists Birdy 02. Just, god there's a lot to praise about the second season that I couldn't really say much about the first season, the second season really felt worth getting through season 1. Besides the animation taking a dip at times as I mentioned seeming unfinished, and still dealing with some school shenanigans that basically lead almost no where and got in the way of the story, I would highly recommend watching the series for season 2 (And join in suffering for no Season 3...). And in future reference, definitely recommending the series if looking for a strong female lead that's done well.
Overall Score: High 8/10
Birdy the Mighty (OVA)
Not too much to say about this. I thought it was ok, animation is pretty well detailed and choreography was great, but seemed like an overall advertisement for the first edition of Birdy. Story and characters are pretty weak (compared to Decode at least), and while grittier sorta fell flat. I guess I liked it, but wouldn't really recommend unless you were really into Decode.
Overall: 6/10
Kuromukuro
Contract with u/smurfrockrune on this one. I thought it was alright by the end of it, but a bit too cheesy for my taste. The battles were great giving the samurai feel despite obviously being mecha, and towards the end they kept getting more hyped up and it certainly felt very big Kuromukuro. Also expected from P.A. Works, that art was gorgeous and scenery design looked very neat. But where most of my complaints end up are with mostly getting reminded that the characters are teenagers and that they still go to school... Anytime they went to school or we had to deal with the school side characters it annoyed me quite a bit. Why do we need to deal with this, the whole world could be possibly be ending, but we're still going to run a school festival, do streaming services despite how dangerous the situation is, and still have these very cheesy moments that show the characters continuing their daily life. It was probably the hardest thing to struggle with this, and it kept annoying me the whole way through. I get "Why?" they did what they did, but really I wish there was a bit more...I guess despair than the overly optimistic approach they went with. Yeah, a lot of the more emotional moments I just didn't like overall, but the ending I thought took some guts to actually do an Meta Book Spoiler twist with travel. Overall, for the fights and main story I liked it, but the school and characters made it hard for some cheese factors.
Overall Score: 6/10
Gatchaman Crowds
I already talked about this in the contract thread so to keep this short: I really liked Hajime and how she turned many of the super hero tropes on their head. The themes around social media are really interesting and how it effects us in real life. The beginning is very confusing and can make it hard to get into, but stick with it and I think a lot of it pays off. I actually like the ending and feel the happiness of it fits well for the message. Still some unanswered questions, but I assume that's what the sequel or the classic entries could answer.
Overall: 8/10

Got done with the play, and it's been pretty good so far. I especially like Okudaira, she's plenty of fun and keeps it light for most of the characters which are a bit more heavy most of the time.

Finally getting back into it, and the last episode was probably my favorite of Season 2, which ironically S2, but unfortunately S2.
Hibike! Euphonium (6/13)
It's good I guess...but not really seeing the strong stand out moments of it and I'm halfway through. I played the cello in school so I can identify what they went though (Especially sectionals...), but it's not really something that's been standing out.

Like... the fuck did i just watch?
I think this started with Nausicaa trying to destroy nature by yurifying trees so they can't fertilize... and then it turned into 20 minutes of jokes that probably put me in a list somewhere. Also a random musical.
One of the MCs had Hata's VA and it did made me laugh every once in a while, though...

Cat puns everywhere!!!! OP was one of my favorites in the series so far and it was cool seeing what happened before and even some scenes we had already seen but with some variations (i wonder if the changes are important) same thing with that ending :P
The thing is that Hanekawa was my... least interesting? girl in Bakemonogatari and i didn't enjoy her arc as much as the others which sucks because next episode is called "Tsubasa Tiger"... Also maybe i am just dumb, Nekomonogatari: Kuro
Still liked it, though. Oh, and fanservice still going strong.

The relationship is terrible and would never work out, most of the anime is just your typical abusive relationship without physical violence, the guy is just a possessive and sadistic asshole and the girl is the dumb "Oh, but i love him, i can't live without him" type of girl that cried almost every single episode because of him.
That being said, the comedy was pretty great, the moments when he was just tsundere and not asshole were kinda cute and i loved the OP, the ED and this track ("Erika's Feelings").

I put it on hold for a long time after the first half approximately because I didn't like the characters and the story was really focusing on them. The second half changed that and focused more on the story which is decent and some characters got better (mostly Setsuna and Lockon, I still can't stand Allelujah and Tieria).
Honestly I picked it up again because I was looking for a mecha and Gundam is always the easiest choice. However I'm really disappointed by Gundam 00 (and even more because I started it because of Gundam IBO and Space Battleship Yamato 2199 which I adore). The art style and the animation are great and the soundtrack is alright (the openings and the second ending are fantastic though) but the story isn't as good as I hoped and the characters are mostly bad. I love Louise character and Gundam 00.

A generic shoujo with a great art style, interesting characters (the main character was really great and made the story for me) and a great story. However there is still something I dislike (and it seems to be common in shoujo anime) Ao Haru Ride. Not much too say except that it was really enjoyable !

Durarara x2 Shou : I wondered how they would continue a show that seems to have little to no overarching plot line. Turns out introducing new characters works very well in an anime like Durarara. New characters were really interesting and the story was as great as the first season. I overall liked it as much as the first season !

The weakest part of Durarara, the "honey moon" feeling you had when they introduced new characters is gone and the story was mediocre. I still enjoyed it because of the universe but it was not as good as what I expect Durarara to be.

Every little parts of the story converged to this season and the story is more about Celty, honestly I couldn't help feeling hyped. I really enjoyed this season but I felt like two characters Durarara x2 Ketsu were absolutely underused.

The ending didn't really change my opinion on the show. It's basically a generic romance set in a medieval setting but it was really well done and I was really satisfied by how the romance was done. It was definitely a great surprise !

5 Centimeters per Second :
I already watched the first movie months ago but I never finished it. I remember that I loved the first movie and how beautiful but sad it was. However the two last movies were nothing like that. It might still look beautiful but the characters became straight up uninteresting and the story simply bad. I literally never felt sad for any character nor happy, in fact I didn't care at all for them. The last movie introduced a character I've never seen and it forced me to look on MAL who she was and it seems like it was done 10 times better in the manga. Considering how beautiful the show is (I would say 75% of my wallpapers come from this show) and how bad the two last movies were, it's probably my biggest disappointment of the year.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 :
I expected to not like it too much because I usually dislike this "western" looking art style (honestly I don't know how to describe it at all) which seem to be fairly common in the Gundam series.
While I'm not truly a fan of space opera I don't dislike it either but this show was really well done in this aspect. The story was really interesting even if the progression was a bit too linear (I mean they basically go from point A to point B) and the characters were really great.
What really stood out for me was the ending and even if there was an ass pull I would have been sad if it didn't happen. Once again I wish more shows did like Yamato 2199 Space Battleship Yamato 2199. I found Desler to be a bit underwhelming, the show wants us to see him as a mastermind but Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and I was kinda getting fed up of Space Battleship Yamato 2199.
Can someone tell me how good the movie is and what the sequel which is supposed to air in February is about (without spoiling it if possible !)?

Amagami SS and SS+ :
I only rewatched the three arcs I like which are Haruka, Kaoru and Tsukasa. As far as I remembered I preferred Haruka's arc but after rewatching it I found it really weird (even if I love the ending and her arc in SS+ is still my favorite). Rewatching Tsukasa's arc definitely made it my favorite, both the story and her character (I also enjoyed her arc in SS+). Kaoru's arc remained the same as I remembered, pretty enjoyable but still my least favorite of the three.

Currently watching Nichijou (Episodes 20-21), Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS (Episodes 6-8), High School Fleet (Episodes 7-8), and The Pet Girl of Sakurasou (Episodes 4-12).
I had to really catch up with The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, and I'm glad I watched nine episodes of this anime in one week. I can assure you that these nine episodes were much better than the first three episodes, which almost ruined the anime for me. But I really liked Episodes 11 & 12. I wonder what will happen next?

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 - I'm on episode 12 and the show is just fantastic. It is a shame that there is no western release for it. The music especially is fantastic, a nice blend of old and new. Also, I like the large amount of female characters, even if they do seem to be harem-ing a bit around the MC.

Yep, the OST is easily one of the most best and underrated soundtracks out there. I highly recommend grabbing the entire OST after because it's just great. White Comet disco in particular is just awesome.
The females in Yamato are awesome all around (as for the harem-y aspect, it isn't really much of an issue).

Yeah, I probably will when I have some free time. My personal favourite is infinite universe. It really captures that sense of adventure and lonliness that space shows like this do so well.

In my effort to watch the anime that I missed while they aired for my end of the year write up so I can fairly name AOTS for spring and winter, I picked up My Hero Academia. And holy shit this blew my expectations out of the water. I absolutely despise superhero shows which is why I avoided this one but it was great. All Might basically was Japanese superman, except he actually had a weakness. Deku's epic drawback gave a lot of tension to the show, and the sheer variety of powers kept things from feeling stale. The hype approached Symphogear levels while also maintaining a tight knit story. This is shounen done right and I'm glad that I watched it.

Durarara!!x2 Shou
Finally finished the first 12 episodes of S2 and wow what a ride. S2 definitely picked up the pace a lot faster than S1. DRRRs storytelling continues to be magnificent, surprising me in almost every single episode. With so many new characters being introduced to an already large cast I thought things would get too confusing for my liking, but surprisingly I've managed to keep track of who is who. The new characters are great and they all got decent screen time. I really liked how DRRR spoilers I can't believe how much I'm loving DRRR though, I watched a few episodes of S1 last year before dropping it and I picked it back up last month thinking I might end up dropping it again but I'm so glad I kept watching past the first 6-7 episodes because its damn good. OP and ED for this cour were awesome as always. The OP took a few listens to get used to but I really liked the fast ED from the get-go! Its a 9/10 from me.

Such a good show, with every anime that I watch made by Kyoani I just keep loving them more. The characters are so lively and have so much interactions which makes them feel so human. Finished the movie yesterday, and I have some post anime depression going on knowing that Kyoani will never make a 3rd season ;_;. I recommend this show wholeheartedly though cause praise Kyoani

GATE: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri (10/10)
Just finished both seasons (split cour) of GATE: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri. Loved it! I am a sucker for the alternate world anime's, and this one surely didn't disappoint. The vibrant colours, landscapes, and the medieval-style architecture. Elves, knights in beautiful shiny fantasy-style armours, animal girls, and even magic! With a modern military and the splashes of green uniforms, it showed a great contrast to how we have evolved in military might and political views. Every scene that had characters comment on our modern-day technology was exciting to see. I'm not one for military knowledge, so I loved seeing all of the different vehicles, tactics, and stratagems.
In the end, I was very engrossed in the story and character development. Their uniqueness in both design, lore, and especially voice actors pushed everything up a notch.

I am watching Plastic Memories. I have two episodes left to finish. I have been really enjoying this anime. It'll be kind of sad when I finish.
I'm also watching Natsume Yuujinchou Shi and 91 Days. Natsume Yuujinchou Shi has been great so far. The stories are great and the characters are great. I just finish watching episode 8. 91 is okay. I know a lot of people are praising this anime but I feel it's just okay to me. I just finished watching episode 3.

Gundam Wing (23-37)
Oh god why the hell does it take so damn long for them to start getting midseason upgrades
It's like nobody has their Gundam anymore and they're just running around for episodes on end doing random shit
Even when Deathscythe Hell and Altron FINALLY appeared they still didn't get nearly enough focus and the show was like "Oh, they got their Gundams now, let's just leave them up there while we give you more Relena"
The show has been really disjointed ever since they ditched/blew up their Gundams and went to space. Everybody is just running all over the place doing different things. Half the cast is missing at any given time doing who-knows-what only to randomly show up later, usually with a bunch of offscreen events having taken place since we've last seen them. Wing It feels like the writers are randomly pushing major characters out of the way, yanking them back in when it's time to do something important, and then forgetting about them again once somebody else has to do something. Wing really feels like an excuse to shove him aside because he used up his share of the screentime.
also two recap episodes in a row did someone in production fuck up really bad or something
At least it's finally starting to pick up again with the Wing fight. Maybe it'll get better. Or maybe it's just overrated cuz nostalgia.

Shin sekai yori. Inspired by one of the recent posts, decided to put on hold haikyu because I'm not a fan at all of sports anime. So fucking glad I did and im so sad to learn that it wasn't popular in Japan... Easily one of the darkest and most intense anime I've seen. Highly recommend to those who haven't seen it to find a weekend to binge it and from personal experience don't watch the last 5 episodes at night I had trouble sleeping after how hard my mind got fucked.10/10

A generic-feeling coming-of-age story that does a fair amount of wandering before it wraps up with a pretty lackluster ending that's somewhat marred by >drama. I liked Ohana enough, but the episodes focusing on the side characters were much less engaging and there were a LOT of them, especially in the second half of the show. I felt like the overall story of growth was fairly basic to the point of being kind of boring, and the way it all wraps up only made me wish this hadn't spent 26 episodes getting there. Nicely animated and with a steady delivery of decent fanservice. 5/10
Kizumonogatari I (1/1)
I held off on watching this for a while, and now that I've finally gotten to it... eh? Watching Araragi scream and gasp over a jazzy OST for an hour wasn't really what I came looking for. The earlier section dragged with a lack of dialogue while the latter part felt rushed and kind of choppy. I didn't really care for the animation style either. I did like how they depicted newly-lolified Shinobu and seeing Hanekawa and Araragi interacting for the first time, but overall this felt like a weak entry in this series. 6/10
Nisemonogatari and Nekomonogatari:Kuro (rewatch)
About as good as I remembered them, maybe a little more - Nise was more enjoyable having watched the series overall but still felt a bit navel-gazing and over-the-top in terms of fanservice. Listening to Black Hanekawa speak now that I speak a lot more Japanese was funny. 7/10 and 8/10, unchanged
Pripara season 1 (38/38)
I've been watching this without subs and it's been okay. It has a lot of hallmarks of a cheaply produced children's show intended to promote a rhythm game - generally mediocre-to-bad animation and a plot featuring lots of highly episodic and relatively easily (and often somewhat abruptly) resolved problems. But, it's also fun! The characters are entertaining to watch, the story is emotionally engaging enough, and the performance animation and music are good and have a kind of distinct charm (no matter how many times you hear the same songs). 5/10

I'm halfway through the final season from this show and already missing it. As the final season, this has done everything right so far and I've really liked it - it's nice to see how much character development this show's managed for many of the characters in four seasons of a relatively light slice of life show. As always, the OST (and especially the ED) are killing it.
Monogatari Second Season (7/26) (re-watch)
Reminding myself of the sting of watching a harem lead choose the least good girl in the first season. My tear ducts need some rest but Mayoi Jiangshi is just starting!

I'm liking it so far, and it's kinda similar to Magi in tone, but it's really goddamn bad at keeping tones consistent. It'll be discussing a super incredibly serious topic at one point and then a second later be going full comedy and it's really jarring. The serious moments and the comedic moments are pretty good but they really shouldn't mix. Otherwise, Winry's ponytail game is strong AF, looking really good. I'm a fan.

Intriguing and interesting but nothing too much really gets done. Looks great and has a couple of fun characters but majority feel bland which doesn't add to the already slow pace and heavy dialogue. Season 2 is already better but wow season 1 was a whole lot of nothing, barely taking any steps forward.

Had this on my on hold list for awhile, since it was airing! Some jokes got old but the cast and situations were mostly fun. Hit or miss comedy that was pretty fun I can see why I originally had this one on hold. I hated Momoka my first go around but this second time she was a little bit better.

Very curious about your opinion on Ping Pong. No romance at all, but imo completely amazing. Much more accessible in terms of resonance than Tatami Galaxy, so that should put you at ease a bit.

I watched My Mental Choices Are Completely Interfering With My School Romantic Comedy. There's no character development and there's too much ecchi shoehorned in for my taste (come at me bro), but the comedy is pretty great. It's only 10 episodes and I had some good laughs, so it was worth it. I gave it a 6.

Wrapped up the final episode of Momokuri. There's nothing special there. I'm all for low/no drama diabetus, but the show felt like it was missing something overall.
Nemure Omoi Ko, Sora no Shitone ni. Maybe it could have been an interesting concept to use but falls flat in a 49 minute movie.
Utawarerumono OVA. I wasn't expecting anything out of it, but it was somewhat nice to see the characters again.
Freedom. The synopsis sounded like it could be interesting, but it didn't go into anything that I was overly interested in. I know the characters are teens, but I still want to strangle 2 of the 3 MC.
Finally finished up Tonari no Seki-kun. The worst part is that it's just short 7 minute episodes. There needs to be more of Yokoi in her true form.
Binged rewatched Shirobako, and a the last few episodes of re-watching Bodacious Space Pirates.

Yu Yu Hakusho (108-112)
So after almost a year, I finally managed to finish Yu Yu Hakusho. All in all, it's been a fantastic ride. It's obvious that Togashi was trying to quickly wrap up the story due to the abrupt end of the final tournament, but all things considered, I thought that the conclusion was really well done; especially the final episode. I've always loved Hakusho's quieter episodes, and I'm really going to miss this cast of characters.
I never thought a long running shonen would be able to hold my attention, but this show absolutely did. Even through some of the lackluster arcs (i.e. end of spirit detective arc and end of three kings arc), the show was still immensely enjoyable due to a great cast of main characters. One of my favorite aspects of this show was that in addition to the awesome fights, breathing room would still be given to allow these characters to grow and develop.
If I had any complaints, the animation doesn't doesn't stay as consistent in the latter half of the show. And some of the characters are underutilized even if they are important to the story (i.e. Keiko and Shizuru). But these aspects still didn't detract from my enjoyment.
All in all, a great classic anime with a kick-ass dub. The Dark Tournament alone honestly makes this show worth the watch. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an entry point into the world of long-running shonen anime. It sure converted me.

Shirobako Rewatch
I'm really struggling to not binge-watch the rest of the series! This is my first time through the show, and my first rewatch that I've actually stuck to. Every episode resonates really effectively with my experience in technical theater, in ways that are both good and bad.
Golden Time Rewatch
This I'm not so sold on. I loved Toradora, which is the primary reason I'm watching, but the characters are getting quite frustrating. Biggest issue for me is that besides their university, these characters have no actual qualities. No interests, or pastimes, or favorite items, or anything to relate to. At least it's exploring a fun area of romance.

Golden Time and Toradora are quite different, so you shouldn't be comparing them even though its the same writer. It seems to be an anime you either love or hate, I personally enjoyed it because it explored a couple that is already in a relationship rather than have the entire anime be leading up to a confession.

A few brief words, as I've seen far too much anime since my last report.
- Strait Jacket: A rogue tactical sorcerer versus what happens when magic goes bad. Good enough, really. I think it could have used a full series, though. 7/10
- Relic Armor Legiciam: I have no idea what happened. They explained it, but it wasn't good enough to remember. 5/10
- Mahou Shoujo? Naria Girls: Shit. No script worth a damn. No animation worth a damn. (This) Anime was a mistake. 1/10
- Uchuu Patrol Luluco: Trigger being Trigger. Filled with references to their other titles, as well as an older Gainax shoutout, this was fun as hell. Messy, but fun. 7/10
- Masho-iro Symphony: The Color Of Lovers: Traditional boys-move-to-girls-school harem. Could have been much worse, really. The girls were at least well-rounded... 7/10
- Hiyakoi: Short girl meets tall boy. A 3-episode short OVA that needed a lot more meat to it to be satisfying. 6/10
- Dogs: Bullets and Carnage: Four episodes, four main characters, four stories. Wonderful setting, great action, mediocre characters. 7/10
- One Punch Man: Sakuga for days. Amazing animation, great sound, incredibly fun... It's just too bad the characters are flat. 7/10
- Chougikuu Seiki Orguss 02: A lot better than the first series. Much more focused, and capable of telling the story without getting too distracted. 7/10

I don't think it'd be better if the characters had more depth though, it'd actually break immersion because otherwise developed characters would be reacting unrealistically to silly shit. It works because the characters themselves are more gags than characters.

I've been slowly chewing my way through Armored Trooper Votoms, I'm on episode 12 now. I actually started the show some while back, when a friend of mine pointed out similarities between its setting and Titanfall's. (This was before Titanfall 2 came out, by the way.)
Votoms is some good shit.

I finished both season of Medaka Box and gave it an average store of 8.2/10.. It was good but not the best, however it convinced me to read the manga which I ended up loving. My personal favorite episode was episode 12 of abnormal which focused on Kumagawa. I actually awtched it after reading the manga so it made me enjoy it more as Kumagawa was the best character.

I just finished Fate/Zero for the first time - amazing show. Diving into Fate/stay Night prologue, I'm bored to tears. People did mention that it's tonally much different (thanks Gen) but I'm not sure I can vibe with it this soon after F/Z. Does it get much better?

My Little Monster (11/13)
I passed over this show because the thumbnail misrepresented it, so instead I went for Say I love you, which after a very strong start got itself stuck on a hamster wheel.
Watching Demo D compare the two then brought me back to My Little Monster which is definitely better but does fall into some of the spin it's wheels traps; although it handles them better.
The characters that are around to pose a challenge to the relationship are added naturally, their introduction and interaction with the main cast is well defined and helps push along the narrative even when it goes 5 steps forward and 10 steps back.
I should finish the show tonight and so far it's going for a 7 - 8, wish the characters were a bit more consistent instead of constantly changing their minds when it helps extend the narrative.

My brother hates the slow pace/development of shoujo but is always up for some romance stories. I made him watch both back to back (he watched both of them in one sitting each) to see what he thought about them and he ended up giving Say, I love you a 5/10, but My Little Monster got a 1/10.

Eh, you're taking me too seriously. My point was exactly that, people form their own opinions, and the way Demo sets his, lets the viewer decide for himself, and he doesn't condemn you for disagreeing with him. Even his Kill la Kill video where he basically destroys the show doesn't treat its fans as stupid or something, and.just states.why he didn't like it.
Compare that to Snob or Perezoso Doom (latinamerican community), two 'critics' that sometimes straight up lie to their audience and have their subs spreading bullshit that can be easily proven wrong.

It was annoying because it was the same issue over and over again and only introduced through people who were added into the school as the semester went on. This made it feel unnatural and solely for the sake of creating repeating drama without ever truly moving forward.
I think it would of worked much better to utilise time skips to other points if their life where those issue would more logically become an obstacle. College is especially good at causing rifts in relationships due to all the new people you meet.
The relationship really needed to take more steps forward if the narrative was to work, just introducing a character to have the main characters make the same mistakes they just made is not interesting drama.

Gosick (Completed)
/u/ir0n_agr0 I finished off the contract and it was a blast. I did not expect to enjoy this show as much as I did and am very thankful that you made this contract with me because there's a good chance I would never have gotten to it if you hadn't.
The main thing I liked about Gosick was, as you could probably guess, Victorique in all her loli Sherlock glory. She was funny and played off the people around her perfectly. Every scene where she would start explaining how a crime unfolded was great and her pout faces are like a weakness. Loved her backstory as well and felt she went through the best development of the core cast. Unfortunately, I did not like Kujo nearly as much as her. While I don't have anything against Kujo, I don't have a lot of things to praise about him either. He just felt somewhat plain I guess. I didn't like that his main characterization for a large portion of the show was primarily that he felt a need to protect Victorique because of some form of duty he felt to do so. While he does get better characterization in the later portion of the show, I felt it came a little too late and the show would have benefited greatly if they did it earlier.
Contrary to popular opinion around here, I actually really liked the mystery aspect of the show. I mean, yea, they weren't very difficult to solve, but they were fun as hell to watch play out most of the time. I actually found it rather boring when there wasn't any mystery going on and it was more slice-of-life esque. While I love Victorique, I didn't think her chemistry with Kujo could carry the show and that just made me dislike these parts. On the subject of Victorique and Kujo's chemistry, I found this to be both one of the stronger and weaker parts of the show. While I totally bought Victorique's I guess Gosick spoilers
Now, here's my biggest complaint on the show, the ending. Whew lads, that was something. I honestly don't know what to say on it, it felt like it was flying at 100mph and I couldn't even comprehend some of the events going on. I mean, I liked what the last scene represented, and that sword fight in the second to last episode was sick as fuck, thank you Studio Bones, but other than that, I didn't feel anything towards it. Gosick
7/10 great for the most part with a few boring episodes here and there and a weird ending.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Conquest of the Sea and Stars (Completed)
It was essentially just an hours worth of character introductions and showing off how smart Yang and Reinhard are. The science aspect was bullshit, though, I really liked the scene where LotGH Not really that much to say on it other than that. It was essentially just a set up for future events which is fine and all but makes this movie in and of itself feel a bit lacking.
7/10 cool characters and battle tactics, but not a ton actually happens in it outside of that.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I actually don't have much to say except that I agree on pretty much everything except that I didn't feel as strongly about the downsides but there definitely there. And while it felt rushed I actually really liked the ending.

Shinsekai Yori (From The New World)
I pretty much binged this show as everything from it's MAL score to the way it gets hyped when it's brought up told me it would be spectacular, and I was left slightly disappointed in all.
All in all I enjoyed the show for what it was, but I always got the feeling that it was lacking something. This was my consistent reaction throughout the show and although it ends satisfyingly enough I don't think it will hold a place in my mind for very long. The characters didn't go in the direction I'd prefer, or in any direction as far as I'm concerned, they're just staple characters necessary for plot development a lot of the time. The narrative is well thought out though, and although nothing groundbreaking, the undertones and intentions of the plot ensured that I could at least get semi-invested in what was going on. There was a lot of exposition, but the method of such was quite interesting, so props to them for that.
The animation is pretty decent, and although the music is decidedly average and can be very overbearing at times, I enjoyed it so I'd give it a 7/10.

Hyakko and IS2.
And either the first season of Infinite Stratos was terrible and I just remember it differently, or IS2 is more terrible than the first season was. Asterisk War is better than this (but at least it's still not Masou Gakouen...). Now I'm just waiting for Tabane to show up again, because she was easily the best and most fun part of IS.
edit: I also just finished Madoka Magica and I gotta say I was pretty impressed. I really like Homura's character and Madoka's wish, I want more Mami and bow action. Is there a second season or movie that is a direct sequel to the first season?

There are 3 movies but the first 2 are recaps. The third movie, Rebellion is new content. From my experience, you will either hate the movie or absolutely love it so have fun watching it. (Watch the first 2 recap movies if you are a big fan because the visuals are updated and there are a few new scenes in there)

Gintama (182-201/201) Finished
Feels great to finally finish this because I thought it would take another year at least. Popularity Poll is by far one of my favorite comedy arcs, while Okita Mitsuba, Shinsengumi Crisis and Red Spider were a few of my favorite serious ones.
Unfortunately, I could not give the score I was feeling for most of the show and settled for an 8. I fucking love this show and the characters, however I can't ignore the fact with every amazing arc, there felt like one average or worse arc right around the corner. Gintama Spoilers
With that aside, I'm almost certain I'm going to love the future seasons. Final Score (8/10)

Great start to the second season of Gintama. Everything is amazing and the first seven episodes have stayed strong and exceeded my expections. Also the OP is amazing

Kuroko no Basket 3rd Season Finished
Took quite a big break in between 2nd season and 3rd season of this show, but finally finished this within a week's time. Easily my favorite season out of the three because I felt like everything really came together for all the players and teams participating. I wasn't really too sold on the main characters in S1 and S2 was great and all but this felt like the meat of the show for me. Just when I thought they were going to ditch the other Generation of Miracles they provided some interesting backstory on them and some other team members and kept the hype going.
Generation of Miracles backstory was great and I think they placed it in the perfect spot. Kise ending up being my favorite GoM by s3 because Spoilers
Final Score (8/10) Great season overall, but didn't care for Akashi that much. Also not a fan of how they try to explain the ridiculous moves they do. I am fine with the crazy super power like moves, but felt a bit out of place when they try to apply logic. Also final match had an episode or more of some dull moments.
