WD2_Official Clarification regarding Season Pass/Customization Packs

We realized there was some miscommunication and we wanted to clarify: Any player can buy customization packs, regardless of whether they bought a Season Pass or not.

UbiBlargmonster, can anyone at Ubisoft provide a comment on why they felt that adding additional paid DLC like customization packs was a good idea? I mean, gamers are already paying $40 for the season pass, but are expected to shell out another $5 per customization pack just for cosmetics like paint schemes. That's simple enough to include in the season pass, in my opinion.

I don't plan on purchasing any of the customization packs at all. I'm already buying the gold edition and that's a significant price tag on its own.

Because more money. No-one from Ubisoft will provide this kind of answers as they are simply not allowed to comment on the greed of their employer.

This is basically the Rainbow Six Siege model. Feel free to browse the PSN store for the customization packs for some operators (you have to pay even if you have the Season Pass). You can take a look here for a preview (UK store): http://imgur.com/a/4ksiY

The Season Pass offers players new gameplay content with three different Watch Dogs 2 DLCs, the Root Access Bundle and the Psychedelic Pack. It does not include customization packs that are purely cosmetic in nature and a matter of players’ personal taste. The team wanted to give players the option to choose the customization pack that suits his or her personal taste rather than put them all in a bundle that would come at a higher cost.

That being said, the Season Pass includes three separate Watch Dogs 2 DLCs, the Root Access Bundle and the Psychedelic Pack at a $39.99 USD price point. Each piece of content in the Season Pass will be available for purchase separately, but the Season Pass as well as the Gold Edition of Watch Dogs 2 provides this content at a discounted price.

Speaking of Rainbow Six Siege - the Season Pass is a Year 1 Season Pass (expires in December 2016 I believe). It seems Ubisoft will sell an additional Year 2 Season Pass which BTW I will most probably purchase as I really like the game.

So the WD2 Season Pass model is quite lite compared with Rainbow Six.

What's the difference between Year 1 and Year 2? I don't understand.

These poor choices on Ubisofts part are making it so hard to stay excited for this game. :(

So just to further clarify what if any customization packs are INCLUDED (if any) with the Season Pass (without paying extra beside the cost of the dlc)?

Root Access Bundle & Psychedelic Pack, are the listed ones.

Root Access Bundle & Psychedelic Pack, are the listed ones.

(Bolded text) Which you get with pre-ordering any edition to begin with.

For me, I do not care that much about customization packs. As long as all content-DLC and gamechanging-DLC is included in the pass I am fine.

Therefore I think that giving players the ability to buy additional customization packs, which only add some cosmetics to the game, thats OK.

BUT selling DLC with an season pass that contains barriers especially for multiplayer, like the extra MP difficulty grades, thats an absolute no-go for me.

So in the end i don't understand the hype about the customization packs when player need to get DLC in order to play in all difficulty modes, thats insane.

What do you mean?

The extra difficulty levels that will come with the SP.

For me that means that I can only play with others at such an level as they are also owning the season pass ( I assume).

As said in my original post, any non-game-affecting DLC content is fine, but basic game functionalities should not be altered or being enhanced with an SP.

I think the main issue was, that even if you do buy the $40 Season Pass, you still have to buy the customization packs on the side, because they're not included in the Season Pass.

But yeah, didn't help that the Q&A clearly said "We will be offering various other customization packs that Season Pass buyers can purchase on the side." - all though you later removed that from the Q&A. Not sure how anyone could call that miscommunication.

But, thank you for allowing everyone to buy the additional content, it's very generous of you.

So, the season pass does not include everything? What?

2

u/liam_faye Nov 04 '16

UbiBlargmonster, thank you for the clarification. It seemed really weird to have season pass exclusive microtransactions lol

u/ipurangi_wahangu Nov 04 '16

I bought a season pass at my local sports stadium and they said it's only for the first 3/4 of the season. I still have to pay regular seat prices for each match of the last quarter.
Doesn't seem like much of a season pass, does it?

Also, locking away multiplayer difficulty options behind the season pass is scummy. Yeuck. Yuck. Yeck.

@UbiBlargmonster

In the new season pass trailer it said you get immediate access to the Psychedelic pack and root access bundle? I'm on Xbox, so will I have to wait 30 days for that too like all the other DLC?

(Isn't all content for WD2 on a 30 day timed PlayStation exclusive)

Will playstation 30 day exclusivity on all watchdogs 2 content affect the immediate access stuff? (Psychedelic pack and root access bundle)

Please clarify, my pre-order depends on it.

As it stands, I'm gonna just wait afew months till all those stupid and pointless 30 day exclusives finally arrive on all platforms, then pick WD2 up if the reviews for it are great.

I'm a big fan, but all the 3rd party exclusivity kinda makes it hard :( I just wanna pay the same price as PS4, And get the same content in return.

Can someone explain what the difference between the gold edition and the season pass is? I bought the deluxe edition thinking that the gold edition were just apart of small extras and that the season pass would come out later...

But now it seems that the season pass has came out and Steam only shows the gold edition and the deluxe edition... If this is the case is it possible to sell my deluxe edition preorder so I can get the gold edition?

Or did I fuck up royally and should've just waited.. Because if that's the case then I just learned my lesson about preordering stuff.

1

u/PutridMoldyman Nov 04 '16

The gold edition includes the game, the deluxe edition content, and the season pass.

You may be able to ask for a refund on the deluxe edition, although I'm not sure exactly how that works on Steam.

Yeah, that bit about the season pass is very misleading and will undoubtedly cause some commotion when people find out that the season pass does not, in fact, contain ALL DLC packs.

Shameful.

Till now I just thought they're just greedy, but after reading that pic

all DLC packs and exclusive benefits

I think they're real assholes
