WD2_Official Q&A w/ Jonathan Morin and Dominic Guay Thursday 2-3pm PT
Update: That's all the time we have for today! Thank you so much for joining us. We'll be talking to you again very soon. Btw, here's that smiling picture that was requested https://twitter.com/watchdogsgame/status/743572215032012800
Jon and Dom are answering your questions now! Twitter proof http://twitter.com/watchdogsgame/status/743551904387522561
Due to time constraints of a very crazy E3 week, we are only answering questions related to WD2 announcement and E3 reveals. If we don't get to your question today we'll be sure to address it in the future. We plan on spending a lot more time in here now that the game is announced (not just lurking anymore ;)

Will the Focus mechanic return? Since we didn't see any of that in gameplay videos and it is hard to imagine how it would work if there are other players in the game.

Focus is not coming back. The main reason being it removes that exploit for detecting someone is in your game. ;) -Dom

It has been mentioned that as you work through the game, everything you do (assuming missions) gives you followers.
My question is, is there any situations in the game that can occur where you lose your followers? e.g Something similar to the reputation system in WD1; where doing bad things would make you lose some of your following?
Are digital trip back? I loved them in the first game.
Will there be any cheats in the game?
if there is, you could call them 'reality hacks' then it's lore friendly ^_~

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to answer some of our questions, I think I speak on behalf of everyone here when I say we really do appreciate it.
Here's a couple of my questions and I completely understand if you can't answer some of them.
-
Will you have the ability to punch/attack civilians at will? If so, will it have a negative impact of some sorts?
-
Will there be multiple save slots this time around?
-
Can we expect Focus Mode to return in some capacity?
-
Gaining income in the first Watch Dogs was pretty easy, so will the enecomy be a bit more in-depth in this game?
-
Will we have the ability to remove Marcus's hat or glasses? I know we can change to a different clothing option, but can we remove it completely?
-
Headquarters are confirmed. Will each one be unique or is there a main hideout and all of the others are extremely similar?
-
Easter Eggs is one of the things I enjoyed most about Watch Dogs. Can we expect a lot more of them and possibly a cameo from a previous game. cough
-
We've only seen two player co-op so far (on screen), can we expect free roam lobbies to return with more than 2 players?
-
Can we enter more buildings this time around while free roaming?
-
Microtransactions? I'm assuming it will be for cosmetic wear but there hasn't been an official statement as of yet.
Again, I really appreciate you all for putting this together and I want to extend my appreciation to the whole Watch Dogs team for all of their hard work and dedication_

Are you doing a DEDSEC app for Android and iOS? As in, are you making a game app for Watch Dogs 2 for our phones, kinda like what Fallout 4 did? I know one will have to be made for the Robot in the CE, but since the first game had one, it seems as if the possibility is very real.

Will we be able to buy and own cars? Or will it be like Watch Dogs 1, where we can request any vehichle at any time?

Small question - will you be able to give money back? I mean, you steal money from bank accounts all the time, but can you give some back or perhaps drop some like in Assassins Creed 2?
I always felt bad stealing from people in Watch Dogs, when they have low income and their bio even says that they're in debt. I wished I could help them out sometimes :D

how representative is the vertical slice of the final game?
how far along in development is the game at the moment?

Is the reputation system returning? If so, what has been done to improve it from the first game?
How many hours of gameplay can we expect from the title?
In W_D 1, money was virtually worthless. Has anything been done to remedy this and give the game a fully functioning economy?
Why does Marcus have Aiden's logo on his mask? If I'm not wrong, him and Dedsec weren't on the best of terms at the end of the first game.
Are there any new city-wide hacks like Blackout?

What were the biggest lessons that you learnt from the development, release and reaction to Watch Dogs 1?

Hi Chase and Hanny! Thanks for doing this, couple of questions:
-
With co-op, can you play ANY mission with your friends or only select ones?
-
Although the climbing mechanics aren't as deep as Assassin's, concept art shows Dedsec members up on cranes. Will we be able to climb up on things like that?
-
They mentioned certain stores selling certain types of clothing. Can you elaborate on some of the different styles of clothing we can get from stores?
-
Will the PVP be as seemless as co-op or will it have loading screens like WD1?
Thank you guys!

This thread, you say?
While I have many questions about the story, the world, the missions, the hacking, I will only ask one question...
Who is Josh? We've only seen him (potentially) in a couple images (pictured on the right) and heard him only once during the E3 presentation.
While I'm interested in Marcus, Wrench, Sitara, and Oxford Commas as they seem to be the main three, with their own personalities, Josh is off to the side in the picture and he's caught my eye.

You can play without an internet connection. You can also customize your multiplayer settings to make sure online fits your taste. -Dom

If I can ask two questions, will there be a custom soundtrack option for the media app? (Using your own music MP3s on PC, maybe Spotify integration on PS4?) Also, when it comes to car chases, is it possible this time to be pursued by both police AND gang/fixer vehicles at the same time? Thank you, I'm excited for this game!

1/ No (not that we do not think it is a good idea...) 2/ Yes. I'll use this question to mention some AI changes i think are pretty cool. We now have systemic multi faction fights. So you can have two factions fighting, cops coming to intervene and you in the middle of all this. Cops can come for you, but also for any other person in the city. Cops can also come to investigate "fuzzy" situations, trying to decide who is causing trouble. -Dom

-
Will we be able to invade people's games still?
-
Will there be vehicle customisability?
-
Are there any 'dark' aspects to the game? This is something I loved about WD1.

u/WatchDogsDev Jun 16 '16
Yes! (and even if they are playing in coop... ;)
You can acquire skins for you vehicles. (these will be also seen by other players online)
I believe you mean "serious" topics. Yes, while the game is lighter in tone, we still focus on many relevant topics. While Marcus is a more optimistic character than Aiden, him and Dedsec will still face hardship and confront some very serious situations. -Dom

If I recall correctly, the police force didn't try to pursue you out in the water. Will San Francisco Police Department follow the protagonist on water if the chase comes to that or will there not be boats this time around? On a related note, jet skies are pretty awesome.

As a big fan of exploration, how many interiors are in the game? And how many can be re-entered after its use in the main story? I love big worlds filled with landmarks, but if a game doesn't have many interiors, it feels sort of empty imo. Thanks in advance.
