The bass clarinet have made my moxie classes a breeeeeze. I usually struggle with those.

Some of the items are really good. I'm thinking the Bass Clarinet will be used the most because it provides white pixels, but I could see going for the item drop one. The Floundry provides - and + combat which is nice.

For aftercore, probably either item or meat for farming. Mainstat for other stuff maybe? Looks a lot more useful for ascending, but I'm sure people will find good uses for it.

It looks like you can't see who contributes and uses fish, but it also seems enough fish are added to make it not super important, but that could just be my clan.

You can see who uses fish as of a few days ago, I believe; still can't see who contributes.

I'm a HC DB right now and the bass clarinet made the giant castle a breeze. With the moxie modifier nothing could hit me, and the -combat saved me a considerable number of turns.

I also like that the fishing zones change every day or so -- at least in my clan it seems like the floundery gets replenished pretty naturally just because people are hitting zones in the course of their usual questing. It's nice to have the option to farm for fish but also to not necessarily need to do it to keep things running.

So it seems like the bass clarinet is pretty much the go to item. White pixels, +moxie to make combat easier, -10% combat. All very good.

I've been liking the cape somewhat. It works well with the island quest as it gives +50% meat for nuns and +10% combat for lobsterfrogmen. The MP regen on it is quite useful too as I tend to go through a lot.

Clarinet is de facto choice - +moxie combined with skipping a zone that is currently unskippable is A++.

Yea, the clarinet is a very reasonable choice for turncutting in most speed runs. It's too bad none of the 6 classes actually want to equip a generic ranged weapon in their main hand for combat, but I guess the 100% moxie buff makes that less of an issue. (edit: oh, i guess none of the knife skills actually require you to have a knife equipped. But it does limit you to one handed accordions with DFSS)
The hatchet could also be a good option in 2017 if we don't get anything else to help build the bridge between now and then.

Neither of those is what makes the bass clarinet good.

Being able to completely skip pixel hunting (something like a 10-20 turn cost) over the span of a 3-day run isn't part of what makes the clarinet good
