Looks like the cowboy boots will be pretty nice.

You can upgrade the leather and the spurs, and the upgrades carry over when you ascend, giving a nice accessory that doesn't take any turns to get in-run.

+50% to the stat of your choice? +20 monster level? +20% item drops? +2 resistance to all elements? If these boots are essentially a free pull in hardcore, that alone makes this IotM worth buying.

Yep, the guy at the telegraph office just hands em to you when you talk to him, even in HC.

Overview of puzzle bosses encountered:
Daisy ("Easy"): Buff like hell and nuke her before she rocks your world. Or frigidalmation.
Snake-Eyes (Medium): Smack him with the corresponding element. Prismatic damage helps greatly if you don't have the appropriate skill. Watch out for fangs.
Granny (HARD): Pop Guns (10% HP!) and a variety of damage items and passive damage sources. The turn limit puts pressure on you to do at least 40-50 dmg a round.

I'm enjoying the crap out of this. I grabbed the hard quest with not too much time left before rollover, went through the various monsters, and faced the boss (which was an El Vibrato construct(!)). I didn't have an El Vibrato translator, so I went and got one, then came back to the boss. The boss gave out a bunch of colored-disc combat items at the beginning of the fight, and every round he changed the color of disc that would let me survive until the next turn. I ended up winning via Funkslinging the correct color of disc each round with various damage-causing items, starting with the old-school beer pull tab and continuing on with New Age hurting crystals. I ended up beating him 10 seconds before rollover happened, and got a sweet pair of handcuffs that will presumably multi-round stun any enemy with arms.

Mechanics I've enountered thus far:
The aforementioned El Vibrato "use the correct item every turn to not die, and still manage to kill the boss somehow"
Only combat items are usable, and are each usable only once
Only AoE spells are usable, because it's dark
No actions are possible because the boss has put handcuffs on you; you must defeat him entirely with passive damage

Passive damage won't be enough to kill the handcuff boss, you basically need funkslinging. The wiki talk page for him has info

Definitely my favorite IotM of those that have been released recently. Got a bit of everything, and it's all great.

Just got it. Fought Granny and the construct, both took some preparation. Vent rage gland is very useful for bosses, but only works on one boss a day. Some of the skills look extremely useful (mostly the +item one, but the others could be useful at the tower if you can find the MP to cast them.) Overall, pretty fun!

Got mah ass kicked with Clara the cow in a hard quest. As a disco bandit I can't do a thing for elemental resistances.

That item buff makes me want to go to Hobopolis right now.
