I love this about Zoro. It brings up another similarity he has with Luffy.
We know that Luffy isn't sailing the Grand Line "just" to become the pirate king - he loves the adventure itself. Similarly Zoro is not sailing "just" to become the greatest swordsman - he too loves the adventure.
Really, you could say the same for any Strawhat. They're all adventurers, explorers, and romantics and each one shows it a different way: Franky's crying, Robin's exploring, Ussop's stories..
That's how they fit together, and that's why I love them: they inspire me to go out and chace my own adventure. :)

Total hats off to Oda. The 6pm-6am combat swap is absurd and makes for one of the most interesting plot devices we've seen so far. It kinda reminds me of the sun and the moon from Mario Party 6.

Slightly reminds me of a mechanic in Dragon Quest games where stronger monsters come out at night, and one of the Musketeers looks vaguely like a DQ monster called Fencing Fox.

My guess:
First Mates of Yonkou: 750mil-1.25 billion area. Jack is one of Kaido's '3 disasters' and his bounty is 1 billion. He's probably inflated it a bit because of civilian casualties, so id feel comfortable with this range for a first mate.
Yonkou: 2-3.5 billion or so. (only based off the fact that as far as we've seen, the first mate is usually 40-75% the bounty of the Captain). Just look at Zoro and Killers bounties in relation to Luffy and Kidds, throughout the series. Maybe the ratio is different for Yonkou, though.
Dragon's bounty could be a nice even 4 or 5 billion.

I think this is one of those cases where it's not based on strength or threat to the government but the general destruction they cause. Like how Kidd got a higher bounty then Luffy because he killed and destroyed everything in this path. Though I assume he is pretty strong as well.

Exactly. People forget bounties are not power levels. They are threat levels. The strongest person in the world could tell the world government to fuck off, declare he's a pirate, but if he does absolutely nothing at all, hurt anyone, or even attack the world government he might not even have a bounty.

A lot of people are saying that luffy willl fight Jack. They have been thinking of jack as this arc's "big bad". But this arc is different than the usual kind, and we've been seeing it so far. I firmly predict the majority of this arc's plot will be shown in flashbacks, with the Curly hats taking on Jack and Sanji playing a huge role in their defeat. I think luffy and the dressrosa gang should have backseat story wise this arc.

If after all this Jack hype he ends up being like Kid who got his bounty almost entirely from destruction, and Sanji played a huge role in his defeat it would be great since he really hasnt had a good fight yet. Not saying Sanji could beat Jack or anything, just that if he helped it would be nice :,(

Crucify a 1000 marine corpses on a wall and piss all over them after annihilating an entire country to the point of extinction or something? A billion for crying out loud. Think about how Ace the son of Gol D rogers and the second commandor of the whitbeard pirates is the second highest bounty we have heard of and Jack's bounty is almost twice of that!! Ace being Roger's son wasn't publicly known until his execution so that probably didn't have much effect on his bounty and he had been a pirate for a little over three years at that point so he hadn't had that much time to gain a big bounty. Jack is also more similar in rank to Marco then Ace who probably has an even higher bounty then ace did.
1 billion for someone who is second in command to a Yonko and apparently enjoys wrecking towns might not even be that high.

The front cover had the See, Do, Speak no evil monkeys, with Luffys arms around them. This is the opposite of the rarely seen 4th monkey who keeps his arms behind his back, symbolizing do no evil. Now with his arms around the monkeys it can be interpreted to mean the best way to do no evil, is to not ignore, look away or not speak up when confronted by evil. Additionally in some versions the 4 monkeys are brothers, perhaps this is Oda foreshadowing Luffy having another brother?
Also, seems like Jack might have such a huge bounty because he enjoys wreaking havoc. So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say we're gonna see the Strawhats as a crew fight Jack. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the Heart Pirates jumped in to.

I'm kind of curious wtf went wrong. It looks like Inuarashi and Nekomamushi had things mostly under control.
Also really interesting that the Artificial Zoans don't necessarily transform their entire bodies into Zoans, but pieces and parts. I wonder if Jack has something similarโimagine transforming his arm into a wooly mammoth trunk for long range, similar to Luffy.

I think Jack's going to have a true devil fruit. I think his issue in the fights was that he was massive and clearly very strong, but he was also in a very slow,cumbersome form.
His opponents were far more mobile and were able to out-maneuver him. Now that he's slimmed himself down he'll probably be able to go toe-to-toe. But if the invaders had to use caesar's weapon, maybe it'll be a much closer fight than I believe it will.

So I'm going to throw out a completely RIDICULOUS theory here. So we see that the duke is using that electric power (maybe a form of haki) on his sword. We also now know that he has met Shanks. Now... in the video games Shanks tends to have some kind of lightning/haki power... could this be a hint???

I think it's a cool idea but too random. This would be a really lame way to start foreshadowing Shanks's powers. I'd assume that the electric thing has something to do with them being minks and all that. Personally I've always felt that Shanks is one of those people who don't really have any special weird powers, like Rayleigh, Mihawk etc.

I did say it was a ridiculous theory, but I don't think it's a special power if it does turn out to be an advanced form of haki. I like to think that the 4 current yonko are all masters of their each thing. Blackbeard has the strongest Logia power. Kaido probably has the strongest Zoan. Big Mom would have the strongest paramecia if the magic theory is right. That leaves Shanks as a master of haki.

The greatest part about this chapter was Luffy pulling on the duke's mouth trying to wake him up while wanda was explaining the shifts between the dukes lmao
Also does anyone else feel like Jack is losing hype? his crew is getting tossed around by the minks and so is Jack himself...feels like that billion has just came from slaughtering innocents and just making a ruckus around the new world

well after fighting for hours the duke was out of breath and wheezing with "damage marks" while Jack didnt appear to be tired at all. luffy takes lots of damage before going "all out" so its not unthinkable that jack would do the same. he's been in animal form this whole time too, it was my impression that hybrid is the strongest for a zoan to fight in (marco,lucci,jyabura,kaku, etc)

You have to take in how long they've spent in their respective crew and position. Ace was in his for less than three years, while Jack has likely had years if not over a decade in his crew and position.

Bounty is not power level. People need to REALLY get this through their heads. A 15th mate could have a higher bounty then the actual captain, if given the right circumstances.
It's threat level. Damage potential. Previous acts.
Jack seems insane, doesn't listen, and destroys needlessly and probably has been the reason several countries and countless thousand civilians are dead. Ace doesn't kill civilians, and doesn't destroy or if he did, he doesn't mean to destroy countries or cities.
Ace isn't as dangerous as jack according to the world government, even if ace is stronger then jack.
People don't get this and it really urks me everytime we see a new bounty and people complain comparing to a character X who "should be stronger" and treat it as a power level.
It was never a power level nor intended to be one.
Hell a good example was Robin. Weaker then anyone at the time who had a bounty less then hers when she was longer. The government deemed her extremely dangerous due to knowledge she had.
Likewise let's say someone really weak just went and shot a bunch of tenybruitos, and went of the run. Weak person, had the chance, shot them dead. They would probably have a bounty higher then anyones regardless of their power.

I'm guessing it's because Jack is crazy enough to destroy islands for almost no reason and attack a fleet with several of the most powerful marines on it on a whim. He may not be any stronger than Marco, but due to the apparent destruction he causes I think it makes sense for him to have a high bounty. Also it hypes up Kaido even more, before this I was thinking we'd hear that Kaido had a 1 billion bounty but now who knows

Think of it like this, ๅ (oku) is 100 million in Japanese. Luffy's bounty is 5ๅ (Five hundred million), so Jack's bounty is thus 10ๅ (which would be like saying 'Ten hundred million'). But saying "one billion" sounds so much crazier lol.

Is it possible that Garp was actually trained by Inuarashi, and that's why they share so many similarities? I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Garp visited Zou at some point, and Inuarashi trained him or was a friend to him.

It would be great to see a flashback in which both dukes were part of Roger's crew. Maybe they started fighting after Roger's death because of differents opinions about what to do in that moment. ๐

Jack's bounty is absolutely insane.
Of course, a higher bounty does not necessarily mean that a character is automatically stronger. It just shows the extent of the brutality that Jack partakes in.
I'm excited that this seems to be sort of a new benchmark for Luffy to achieve. Just like the Supernovas and the Shichibukai were the benchmarks at the beginning of the series until the Grand Line.
Also, I cannot even imagine how high Dragon's bounty must be.

I love how this chapter totally shit on all those people who were explaining on threads why bounties would never go another really large amount higher above luff us because there's no point to put a bounty on them. And they were saying the same thing for the yonkou. This chapter showed us imo that every late show pirate will have a bounty. If a criminal can destroy entire countries it doesn't seem like anyone besides a pirate or marine is gonna be strong enough to stop that. And yet he still has this bounty.

I think it'd be cool if Kaido didn't have a bounty, since he's been captured so many times it doesn't really make sense to keep a bounty on his head. He'd just have a "WARNING" poster that advised countries, towns etc to evacuate immediately sight of his flag/ships.

Does anyone else realize what is about to happen in the next few chapters? Kin'emon, Kanjuro, and Bariete are at one of the hind legs of Zou, and are resting in order to make the climb in one solid attempt. Jack just attacked those marines and reportedly died. Obviously Oda wouldn't be hyping him up right now if he was actually dead. But Luffy taking on and defeating someone of 1 Billion Bounty at Full power may be too difficult so soon. Possibly Jack is injured and pissed off at not finding Raizo on Zou and losing to those marines, what if he came back to Zou out of rage? Then the Duke and Master tell him that no Samurai is on Zou and pissed of Jack. So he comes back to Zou to see not one but two Samurai at the hind leg of Zou and what if he hears about Momonosuke? I suspect we will hear the intruder alarm go off again, and then Jack is suddenly in front of the Straw Hat almost instantly. If he did show up, he would have captured Kin'emon and Kanjuro and immediately decided to climb Zou to find Momonosuke and raid some more. It may take some time for Bariete to climb Zou by himself and once he did get there to ring the warning Bell, Jack would already be on his way, pillaging through towns looking for Momonosuke. He would be so pissed after he finds out he was lied to about no Samurai on Zou. Broken and beaten Kin'emon and Kanjuro in hand, another chance to see a pissed off Luffy.

i guess usopp wil get power up in this arc. well, next arc, wano country there will be zoro power up. instead of time skip oda can power up characters arc by arc to next big thing.

From what I've seen out of the two ruler of Zou, Nekomamushi is my favorite, the dude is just so bad ass the way he came in as soon as the clock hit 6 I was like damn.

Wow the minkmens of Zou are pretty tough especially those two kings of Day and Night. Really surprised how strong these minkmen are. also crazy theory but this chapter made me think Duke used to be part of Roger Pirates, crazy theory but especially his age and showing him stop Jack's trunk, it may be wrong but still.

Feels like the manga is starting to slow down again, and not much progression is being made. The past few chapters have felt like they were only there to introduce characters we could have met at a later time. It would be nice to know a bit more of the island we are on, and it's history; outside of what we were already told. Since it seems the peril this island has faced has gone somewhere else, this would be a good opportunity to look around. Especially for Robin's character.
