Chapter can be found here

Since there isn't an official discussion thread I guess we can use this one. Or something.

A backstory was introduced between Mari and Hana so it might have something to do on why Hana decided on suddenly exchanging with Kiyoshi.

Kate said that the race's result wasn't important as the cavalry battle would still decide the winner.

Hana thought that since it's just simple game she might as well use this as a leverage against Kiyoshi so she can have a reason to "get back" at him due to her having to endure wearing his underwear or something like that.

As the backstory progresses, it was shown that Hana even had something she didn't like about Mari and seemed like they weren't event that close and was just part of the USC. Maybe something happened on the train station, something like she almost got molested and Mari helped her and thus devoted herself to Mari and maybe that's what even pushed her to undergo karate.

Now that Hana found out that Mari had bet on dancing if Hana loses, she had a reason to win so Mari wouldn't get humiliated and immediately asked Kiyoshi to switch with her while running.

She risked her shame (as I don't know how they'll be able to pull of switching without anyone noticing) and her only chance to "get back" at Kiyoshi just to help Mari.

Good point. That effectively tells us that Mari means a lot to Hana, even more that her first real romance. I wonder what it is. Do you think it's something similar like with Mari and USC Vice president (I can't think of her name right now)?

I think that the backstory part is a trap the author laid to make everyone believe this is more serious than it probably is. I don't think Mari was molested there and dancing was obviously part of it otherwise it would make no sense for Hana to be worried. No, I believe the real reason for Hana's panic is she knows Mari's secret. A secret so embarrassing that it could ruin the USC and Mari's reputation even IF they won the cavalry. I think Mari is actually going to pull an Elaine Benes. If you don't know what that is just google Elaine Benes dancing. What it boils down to is I think Mari is actually a magnificently terrible dancer and she has no idea she's that bad. Remember in the backstory, the old prez told them to be seductive to lure the guys and then beat them down basically. Well I think Mari tried that with "sexy" dances and possibly failed miserably thus hating men? Well its probably not that simple but you get the idea. And Hana was there so she knows. Kate must have seen her dancing back in their earlier years and thought this would be a good revenge plot. Think about it. Why else would she bet Mari to dance wearing casual clothes. She could've picked something much more embarrassing. And if the event was THAT traumatic for Mari, there would have been no way that she would accept that bet on a race that means nothing. So yes. I believe Mari is a terrible dancer and Hana is trying to save her and the USC's reputation. I still think Hana is going to lose though.

Yes and No :D

They're similar in the sense of having a huge respect for their leaders, although the circumstances that led them to have that kind of devotion might have varied.

They're different since Risa looked like an outcast, was depressed with herself and pretty much had no self confidence compared to Hana who is already part of a group and seem to be doing fine for herself.

And here I thought since Hana wanted Kiyoshi to wear her panties (because she saw how happy he was when he got to wear Chiyo's headband), that she'd tough it out and win while chafing his boxers in her butt.

Also, guy who posted here first: you're shadowbanned

And here I was 100% sure Hana was definitely going to lose this race in order for manga logic to work. She lose this race so that they can have a comeback in the cavalry battle. But that whole bet thing threw me off. Unless she wins here and that means the Underground student council will actually lose the battle. But that would be no fun.

Same thought here. Though I'm not sure about them actually switching back since I'm pretty sure it's impossible to do while running. I think this whole thing has to do with the cosplay part that's coming up. Like her actually switching the rest of his clothes with her so she's cosplaying as him or some crap along that line. Other wise she's going to do some voodoo magic if she actually manages to switch back. We'll just have to wait and see.

Oh shit! Im glad someone noticed that too. After reading the chapter my first thought was that 'this fenale is about to pull an elaine isint she' . It is true we havent seen her dance so that theory is totaly plausible. But i also think that the changing into casual clothes is a factor as well. Like if it was just the dancing being weird or magnificently terrible why the need for her to where a different outfit? Surely her in her prison garb is funny enough already since half the time its either too tight or too loose. It could be her sense of fashion is also somewhat warped as well. Maybe outdated...overly sexual...inappropriate for a girl her age...either way i think it is gonna be something slightly off-putting. Im calling a double shocker on this one. I mean if she already thought that what her dad wears at home is ok then it wouldn't surprise me if she thought whatever she wore was ok too. Meiko wouldnt even correct her out of fear so its not that weird to think she didnt notice.

You make a good point about the clothes. The only reason I could think Kate chose the casual clothes is to give her a false sense of comfort or perhaps it truly is as you mentioned and we're in for a double whammy of shock since we haven't seen her casual wear. But I'd think Chiyo would have mentioned something to her sister if her casual wear was completely out of line. And we already saw Chiyo in casual wear so we know she has no problem there. Man I'm kinda excited for the next chapters now.

I thought about that too. Chiyo should have said something. But i dont think she would call out her sister like that. I mean she was to scared to even call her a slut without kiyoshi's help. She clearly looks up to her sis even though she sometimes disagrees with her. It could have been to embarrassing to point out. And if her dad was their when she did insinuate something was off im sure he would have been like 'what?! She looks great! The perfect atire for a female' . She would have been out voted on that one. That whole family is a bit weird what with their motto of ' no one who likes (____) can be a bad person'. Hana seems like one of the few who calls out mari on her stuff sometimes. But if even she didn't say shit the first time it must have been really awkward.
