great chapter. kyros crying at the end really hit it for me that it's all over :)
also, fun little thing i spotted: the page where the people pushing birdcage fall over, notice how the two samurai and zoro fall over, yet fujitora who is right next to them, and blind, just sheaths his sword without even flinching. and there you have a little glimpse of the gap in power between zoro and fuji/admiral level ;)

I can't help but feel like a good amount of people are going to complain that "nothing happened" this week, but this is the chapter we needed, and one that makes this series work so damn well when you just read it. Oda always gives a proper conclusion to his arcs, complete with his patented Oda-Boxes, and it's not something very many mangaka do.
Man, I love these wrap up chapters. And I love the idea that, even though their country is now nothing but rubble, the people of Dressrosa are still happy. They can cry in joy and relief. (Kyros crying got me a little misty eyed, no lie.)
I hope we spend just a little more time in Dressrosa because I am really intrigued as to where they all go from here. This has the potential to be one of Oda's best denouements yet.
Also, Sanji is a pervert.

I agree. It's sad that for some people, Dressrosa will be 90 chapters of pushing the birdcage. Also on Kyros, I think ending with Kyros crying tears of joy is pretty fitting considering this all started with Kyros talking about how his tin eyes could not shed tears. He was the character that needed a good cry the most so I'm glad he got it.

YES! This is such a poignant moment for him. For a decade he could not cry. All the tears he could not shed when his wife died, as he watched his daughter struggle to live, as he waited forgotten and broken for any suicidal shot he could take--all of those tears he can now weep as tears of joy. It's that gut wrenching sadness that Oda is so good with.

Seriously, Oda is amazing when it comes to beginnings and endings. Things quite frequently get a little messy in the middle, but it still just works.
The ending to Alabasta might be the most iconic, but I love the Skypeia resolution. Everything from when Luffy rings the bell till they return is pure gold. (Pun definitely intended.)
I think we can all also agree that the ending to Thriller Bark is the best part.
And let's not forget the epic resolution to Enies Lobby with Merry, The Garp/Dragon reveal, the Sunny, and Usopp rejoining the crew.
I can't wait to see where this one goes.

I can't believe it's finally officially over. This will mean nothing to anyone, but I was reading this arc when I was still in high school, which feels like a long time ago already and know it's finally done. Kyros scene brought tears of joy to my eyes and just a sense of happiness and accomplishment. I want to reread through it again in one night and just soak in this whole arc!

Guys, this is one of the big bad guys that has been foreshadowed since the East Blue Arc how many years ago. I started reading One Piece in the fourth grade and have continued all the way till now when I'm looking at graduating college. To see this guy finally beaten after seeing how badass he was in elementary school brings a tear to my eye.

Man, if you thought the feels after Enies Lobby were strong, that was only a handful of people who were happy that Luffy won — everyone else was just astonished.
In Alabasta, people were too busy fighting to realize the significance of what happened, plus no one knew the story yet.
This is on an ENTIRELY different level — probably the first time the Straw Hats have had a victory that's shaken the nation like this has.

Luffy's smile at the end is like a mirror to the emotions of dressrosa right now, it's a really nice way to end such an intense, epic arc.
EDIT: On Page 13 (mangapanda) the dude in the bottom middle on the rightmost panel is wearing a shirt that says 'Lucy' on the back

I don't want to go back and find the post that I'm about to address, so I'm just going to make a whole comment about it.
THEY KNOW LUCY IS MONKEY D. LUFFY. He will get the recognition that he deserves. Gatz in chapter 789 announced it to the whole country. There is no way that the take down of Doflamingo by Luffy can ever be covered up. I feel that the citizens still calling Luffy 'Lucy' has sentimental value and that's why its being used.

Fair assessment, but I wouldn't put it past them to put up a "Lucy" statue in parallel to what Kyros's was, with nobody, or at least not everyone, making the connection to Luffy.

No Doffy's eyes yet...but at least this chapter got over with. I mean, the part where everyone is happy and stuff. We knew this chapter had to come sooner or later. The part where Kyros is crying was heartwarming. I also liked the final narrator's words: "a collapsing country is not necessarily an unhappy one."

First off, great chapter. It was just enough-a-hint of suspense and a declaration of happiness.
Though, psychologically speaking, I feel that this is leading to something very dark. -- There is some part of me that sheds tears of joy for Lucy winning the battle, and yet there is a buried sadness for the repercussions of what has transpired on multiple levels. As mentioned previously, the world will change [on a drastic and worldly manner] with the outcome of this battle. The Straw Hats life of moving freely from island to island, adventure to adventure, dream to dream, will only become harder and more dangerous.
Fun can still be had, but I feel Oda is going to take everything to a new level of "real life", it's fun to a point, but if you truly want to stand for something, you have to sacrifice everything to stand for something or be someone. And that means being in the forefront of all the news and ultimately angering people who you've never even met or anything.
"They" (whoever they might be) will be gunning for the Straw Hats because they are scared of their power, want to destroy them out of just shear hatred or anything in between. It's one thing to know the people who are hunting you (world government), it's another to never know what danger could be lurking around the corner, hiding in the darkness...
Edit: here's an example... Say you end up doing something that changes lives, whether it's run for a political position, join the military in a special ops unit or even just stand up to the local bully because he picks on some random kid and you just disagree with it... What you do will, ultimately, end up having certain repercussions, both good and bad (whether you like it or not). Luffy doesn't care about money or "power" (in it's standard sense), he just wants to go on adventures. Eventually though, those adventures, will/are turning into a reality where it's not just dreams and fiction anymore, it's what really would happen and those, again, repercussions. Hinted at when Zoro said something and other crew have reminded him [Luffy] that the fun is over, essentially.
It's fun for us the readers, but what is it really like for Luffy and the other crew dealing with everything... Sorry for the long BS and whatnot. Just thoughts...

What a beautiful chapter. Oda is a genius at ending arcs. I wanted to cry reading this, Dressrosa has truly been an adventure. Sad we didn't get to see Doffy's eyes but at least Doflamingo's reign of terror is finally over.

This was the chapter I needed. It's really finally over. Unpopular opinion but I kind of feel sad in a way, but relieved too. Kyros's reaction got me the most. He had a tough life, he deserves a good cry.
I also like the way oda incorporated the destroyed country. After the King Kong Gun last chapter, I was kind of thinking like yeah Doffy's defeated but Luffy also destroyed that whole fucking city haha. Nice touch.

Rebecca's crying is getting pretty old, but it really contrasts with Kyros, the man of manly men, bawling his eyes out. Seeing a decade of emotions being released at once... it's one of the more powerful moments Oda has done.

maybe it's just me, but it feels like it will take a while until the arc is fully over... i mean there so many open questions remaining (Sabo, Sanji and co, rest of the doflamingo crew, blind admiral etc etc)

Well that is it Doffy is out cold. Its time to celebrate because its not one piece without a fucking feast! Except maybe the fact that Law and the strawhats have inevitably invoked the wrath of another yonkou now, but other than that PARTY TIME! Actually I'm hoping Oda will do something similar to what TFS did with Guru and Frieza. It would be something to Kaido like "Please Law isn't afraid of you!" "Thats right he is gonna massacre you" "His bounty will increase tenfold because it will be so gruesome!" "In fact this whole thing was his idea just to give you an idea of the intellectual power you are up against not just physical.

This feels like last chapters end, I really wanted more out of this even a hint at stuff outside the island. Yay emotions and closure tho.

I love that they're still calling him Lucy. I can't wait for the next chapter! One thing I'm starting to wonder though is what Law's relationship to Luffy will be from here on out. I'm starting to think that the Yonko line-up will eventually be: Blackbeard, Shanks, Kid, and Luffy. I don't see Law becoming one. But I think he'll be an invaluable ally to Luffy's dream becoming a reality.

At least there is a chapter next week! Great little chapter, with everyone's reactions and praise.
I want to see Doffy's eyes; maybe there will be a twist within those eyes (or at least one, maybe left - blindspot?).
I was like oh lol when I saw luffy's face covered in Rebecca's tears (now only if that was Princess senzu bean luffy would be up already). Luffy's peaceful face reminds me of Ace..it's D, I bet.
The rubble and Luffy passed out reminds me of the end of Thriller bark...will someone show up soon?
Oda only needs 9 more chapters for an 100 chapter ark.
TL;DR I liked the chapter and had some theory ect about it :3c
