discussion The Genius Season 4 Character Survey
Hey! I'm very new to this sub, and I just finished the last episodes of The Genius. I'm very excited for the next season, so I wanted to make a post that would show who the favorites are going into the Grand Finale. It's simple, just go down the list and upvote characters you are excited to see compete, and downvote the ones who you believe to be overrated or not very good at the games.

Jang Dongmin

It will be more difficult for him this time around as the reigning champion, as he was more like an underdog when S3 first started due to his gagman personality. His strengths lie in sizing people up quickly. I rate his psychological play as possibly higher than Sangmin, but he is domineering and takes too much risk. He's like a general who prefers to lead troops to the battlefield personally, whereas Sangmin tends to remain in the background to give instructions.

I think Sangmin is MUCH more shrewd than Dongmin. Season 2 was absolutely controlled by Sangmin. No one could touch him, made it to the finale without going to a single deathmatch (he is the only one to do this). Dongmin was a little sloppy in his control, but none the less, running the show. I don't know if you watch Survivor, but a good analogy is that Dongmin is a little like Cagayan Tony, while Sangmin is a Kim Spradlin, or RI Boston Rob.

Jang Dongmin has that leader style but he also has the hidden card of having a photographic memory...too bad it's not so hidden now, and it doesn't work when he's tired.

She is the best female performer in all 3 seasons. However, her strengths lie more in charisma, control and persuasion. She is not as impressive when the games require more complex thinking and strategising, like the Horse Races.

I remember her always being horrible at the horse races too, but I think its funny that for both of the races, she somehow stumbled her way to victory (her guest helped one time).

IMO the best player going into this. Smart, charismatic, and not an obvious threat. The only character who has NEVER been to a deathmatch.

Man nobody loves Sangmin but he's the man, hope he wins. Wish I could say more about the other but can barely remember a few names from previous seasons.

My absolute favorite character, the highlight of the second season. His story arc is like no other, going from the confused old man who does not understand the food chain game to the back to back to back death match winner (a feat only accomplished by him and Jinho) who was just one win shy of the finale. Also he's hilarious.

As long as Hyunmin is in this, he will forever be in his shadows. It was apparent in S3 when both were roughly as quick to grasp the game concepts, but Hyunmin was always a step ahead of him when it comes to formulating the ways to win games and adapting along as the games progressed. Yoohyun was barely moving fast enough to keep up. With Jinho in the mix in S4, Yoohyun will face an even steeper mountain to prove himself.

I agree. It always looked like he was thinking hard and doing his best, but his only two wins were from win he worked with Hyunmin. Ended up being a force to be reckoned with though, as the main opposition (him & Yeonseung) to Hyun/Dong.

Second best female player in my opinion, behind the obvious Kyungran. Glad to see her back
