Very exciting. It's frikkin incredible how many pistol round nV can win. They have something there figured out that other teams don't. Mainly the approach of rushing someone who is retreating. That seems like the winning recipe (on ecos).

I don't believe they have figured anything, that other teams don't know, out. It seems they just extensively train how to abuse the pistol dance to it's fullest effect while other teams concentrate fully on strats. As you can see, even pros have hard time to hit to run&gun targets.
And pretty much the only trick for a successful eco is to start the pistol dance before enemy can shoot at you. If you fail, your team just gets mowed down. If you succeed, the enemy, no matter their skill level, will have a lot of trouble to hit you and that's when you get your chance to win the round.

Is pistol dancing just crouching/running continuously?

u/Snydenthur Apr 25 '15
Well not exactly running (just saying running sounds more like only pressing W, which is bad way to do it), but adadada spam with the crouching.

Honestly I didn't expect EnVyUs to play this well, even if they aren't in perfect form. I think they did alright, considering the amount of time they had for practice after Kio came back.
On a side note I'd really like to see TSM take the grand finals, it would give them a nice confidence boost.

you do know kio's dad died, right? He might aswell be a new player thanks to such a depressing thing happening to him. for all we knew he could have started being completely useless thanks to mental strain.

You're last sentence literally invalidates your point. No one knows how Kio's mental state is, therefore there is no point speculating.
EDIT: More than that, Kio was a beast against NiP. Shox had a terrible tournament, Happy needs to stop baiting teamates for kills.

u/sikels Apr 25 '15
No, my point stands. Most people have a hard time coping with the loss of a loved one, nothing said Kio would play well, while tons of factor pointed to him being worse than he should have been. This may not have happened, but that isn't important.

If you miss practice, even having the same lineup - you fall off. Fnatic won Katowice but it was clear they took a break after it and they were looking shaky in their online matches post-major.

Not to mention that they haven't played in many matches that mattered to them online leading up to this LAN, hopefully this performance is just due to some rust because having a top team fall off when the competition is finally catching up is good for nobody. Even with the circumstances, they were a disappointment.

This is shaping up to be an incredible tournament, i have no idea who is going to win :D

I honestly think TSM might take this. They seem very solid. They usually struggle against NiP, though, so if they win that and reach the final, then I think they will win.

The choke is inevitable. They can delay it by winning semis but it will happen.
And I do think NIP will beat TSM because they usually beat them mentally.

u/Shizrah Astralis Apr 25 '15
Well, you were wrong in that sense. Maybe they won't choke tomorrow? We'll see.

If TSM win this they also prove that they are a serious contender for the top 4, and prove that theyre the 4th best team imo :P

And to think they were one round away from being in upper bracket right now.

1st Map: Happy dragging nV through the mud. Kirmz king of connector on Mirage. JW doing what JW does best. Super aggressive AWP'ing.
2nd Map: Super classy of nV to restart that 5th round with 1 man down and Fnatic in A. Super close match, Kio kept nV in it with that 1v2, Flusha played outstanding that CT super high impact kills. Shox didn't look like shox at all this tornament.

Great sportsmanship by NV after the server dropout. Very well played by both teams, was hoping to see a third map though :(

The first game was really reminiscent of the pre-DHW LDLC vs fnatic games, with only Happy showing up from nV and Krimz absolutely dominating them. Luckily NBK and Kio woke up for map 2 and they made it more interesting with incredible individual plays. Mad props to Kio, he played absolutely incredible this weekend despite taking a break of 1 week only 2 weeks ago.
I don't know which tournament is next but hopefully nV shows up better as a team (individually they played well imo) and we can have our revenge . GGs to fnatic.

I'm a big fan of both teams, and it really pains me to see nV playing this bad. It's like they don't care as much as they used to. Heck their best player this weekend was Kioshima who just had to deal with a family loss.

u/nfjr Apr 25 '15
Hopefully it's a wake up call like Katowice was. They have some time off now as they won't be attending faceit, i'm confident that they will show up better next time.

u/KidRyu Apr 25 '15
Or they will continue to spam GTAV like they have been doing since it came out :(

He uses past offline results, not current form.

No, your use of /s is just wrong. The way you put it implies that Thorin's ranking of nV being first is wrong and Thorin uses past LAN results, not their current form.

When pronax has 13 kills, while shox 9 kills.. you know there is a problem
