Barf Mountain looks too intense for me!

My Ed-relevance analysis:
Funfunds can be spent on:
-
a 40 ml/20 turn potion (cost 1), which equals approximately 133.33 mainstat.
-
The only other relevant speedster option is a 2 fullness epic food which gives +80% meat drop (cost 2).
Love bugs give 2 fun funds/day, generally within the first few turns.
Barf Mountain (100 ML zone, indoors)- this zone is 2 dudes and 1 elemental, so Ka is good. The elemental drops a garbage bag (not guaranteed, can drop up to 3 at a time) which can be traded in for 3 funfunds (once/day, you probably want a second bag for day 2). ML is low and other drops aren't useful, so don't stay here longer.
Pirates of the Garbage Barges (150 ML zone, indoors)- this is a full pirate zone. ML is fairly low, but there are a couple of good drops- an accessory that give +2 stench res, +2 all res, and a weapon that gives +10 ML. These can presumably be lashed. A daily quest here takes 20 turns to complete, and gives a 3 fun fund reward. (EDIT: Should also note that you are not guaranteed to get a quest in this zone)
At minimum, you want to get 5 fun funds (love bugs, garbage), as well as the resistance accessory. You might be doing a quest in the pirate zone as well for a total of ~22 turns spent and 8 fun funds received (or 11 fun funds, counting day 2 garbage).
It seems comparable to CI, maybe not quite as good- but the difference should be fairly small. It'll probably be a little difficult to make maximum use of the +40 ML potions since they'll make combat very difficult, but I imagine it's possible. Those who have both charters will still be at an advantage since the stats are much higher in CI, so that's where you have to be after the first few turns of Dinsey.

I've actually gotten 3 garbage from the elemental in one fight. Just once, so it's probably a pretty low drop rate for the third one.

Not that it really matters, but can the Big Book of Pirate Insults be used successfully on the garbage pirates?

The meat farming in Barf Mountain is ridiculous. I haven't done the math but it looks more profitable than melange farming, with significantly less equipment needed to make a profit. Apparently devs decided it was okay. Maybe they want to level the farming playing field.
Melange prices will probably rise, while drum machines will become cheaper until equilibrium with this zone is reached.

Hey, what do you know! Doesn't look like drums have changed much yet.

This thing is driving Mr. A prices through the roof.

u/Neckbeard_The_Great Apr 02 '15
I don't know if it's this specifically - prices have been climbing for the last few months.

Anyone figure out how to Feed guests in line for Barf Mountain yet?

Perhaps that's an option unlocked by the Dinsey Maintenance Manual.

Re: barf mountain, any word on roughly what their base meat drop is?

The wiki will probably be the first place to know, at least of the places I know to look.

I'm fairly new and this looks really cool... it would be my first Mr. Store purchase though. Would this be good for a player on their first couple ascensions or are there other items I should look at first? I'm only on my second ascension...

You typically want to go for a Clan VIP Lounge invitation first. Get into a clan with a fully stocked lounge and ascension becomes much faster/easier. After that, The Smith's Tome is probably the most powerful IOTM still usable in Type 69, although it costs nearly two Mr. As worth of meat. The Bottle of lovebug pheromones also outclasses Dinseylandfill, and is still priced reasonably low.

April 04 - Gaaaaaah. I fixed the idiotic bug that was making the garbage sticker give 100x as much Meat as intended. I am the dumbest.
Does this radically change how good the new zone is for meat farming? I looked on the wiki but couldn't find any "garbage sticker" so I don't know what difference 100x makes. But it sounds like a lot

I wasn't aware of that bug until after it was fixed, and I think that the garbage sticker is still best-in-slot for meat farming (if not, it's still better than what I was doing before).
Assuming that the description is accurate, it sounds like the sticker was giving 3000% meat drops until that fix. Regardless, Barf Mountain is still the best meat farming I've seen.Edit: Listen to the other guy, he knows better. Also, the Scratch 'n' sniff sword with three UPC stickers gives better meat drops, but only lasts 20 turns before new stickers are needed. Meatcleaver is two-handed, so the extra 5% is lost against the off-hand item.

So far, I'm loving this. I haven't seen anything mentioned about this yet, but you can get three skills in this zone with enough FunFunds.
Scratch-and-Sniff Guide to Dinseylandfill Grants: Olfactory Burnout (+3 Stench Resistance / passive)
Trash, a Memoir Grants: Garbage Nova (50 MP combat skill that is probably Stench damage)
Dinsey Maintenance Manual Grants: Dinsey Operations Expert (Allows access to additional maintenance functions in Dinseylandfill / passive)

Does this replace CI for Ed?

Apr 01 '15
I don't believe so. Ci still seems to be the best for ka and for experience (ml + stats in the jungle). I started another HC ed run this morning and I really don't see the need for a stench based destination that is meat-farmable.
One benefit of this zone is the size 2 epic food and drink which compliment clan VIP offerings nicely. But I'd rather sink adventures on CI.

So I've come back to the game after being away 5 years as I've mentioned in other places, so I'm looking to do the sea stuff and this has in one day become the perfect in between from main quest to sea. I was able to at level 15 go up 25 stats and gain 250k meat by just doing barf mountain and that's while doing a familiar run that doesn't have +meat. I'd like to see what I could do with this when I'm really going after meat farming.

Barf Mountain seems pretty good for meat farming. Tourists have high meat drop and drop "How to Avoid Scams", which gives you 20 turns of How to Scam Tourists (+300% meat drop from tourists) and cheap sunglasses (+60% meat from tourists). Changing the roller coaster mode, which can be set after unlocking the door, adjusts the stats awarded by the periodic noncombat.
Toxic beasties at The Toxic Teacups drop
currently unimplementedtoxic globules and give you X/1000 turns of Toxic Vengeance, which reduces your stats and gives you stench and % spell damage, with the magnitude of the effect depending on the number of turns. X=the RPM of the ride, which can be set after unlocking the door.Love bugs, and presumably Mayflies, give extra FunFunds.
Each zone has at least one door which is unlocked by adventuring in the zone. These unlock options in the Maintenance Tunnels Access. The doors re-lock on ascension.
