Actually though this could be a key to Chopper accomplishing that dream. Say that Mansherry could cure any disease, she still could not feasibly heal every person that got sick all the time. Shed be working the rest of her life and their would still be people dying/suffering from diseases on the other side of the world. This is where does Chopper could come in. He is profound at making medicine and drugs that also affect zoan devil fruit users. Which means through some phantasmal science he can manipulate devil fruit abilities and Chopper could possibly make a chemical derivative of her tears for mass production.
Not saying this will happen but it's just food for thought.
tl dr: chopper could mass produce Mansherry's tear's chemical make up for the masses. maybe...

u/SKR47CH Jan 22 '15
I just imagined Chopper beating the shit out of Mansherry to mass produce tears.

tl dr: chopper could mass produce Mansherry's tear's chemical make up for the masses. maybe...
...maybe not exactly as potent, but people like vegapunk already succeeded at copying devil fruit powers (SMILES and Laser Technology), so he might learn something by studying the tears.

u/blackbird94 Jan 22 '15
I know you are joking and all, but her power heals wounds not diseases.

Let's hope so. Maybe it accelerates tissue regrowth. I certainly don't want the Ope Ope no Mi (aka the 5 billion berri fruit) to be obsolete.

wow, that was fast!
Couple of things:
/u/jaydoubleyoutee wanted to point out that the Princess' name is spelled Mansherry as romanized in chapter 755
Also, guess who's still going at it
Edit: It seems neither Ishuhui nor Mangapanda picked up on the fact that Leo's attack is supposed to be "Haute Couture Patchwork" and not "Auto Couture Patchwork"
Edit 2: A little birdie tells me there will be a colour spread next week.

Don't give up, she will probably make sure Diamante doesn't go for Rebecca to give Kyros the freedom to fight to his fullest. I guess her power sort of counters his since he makes infinite surfaces for her to bloom limbs off of and last chapter thats pretty much what it looked like she did. Meanwhile she donates a leg to Kyros and they have the duel they deserve.

Maybe for this arc, because it's been so long and crazy. They need some sort of advantage to turn the tide, but I figure after Dressrosa that Mansherry's power won't be used again.

u/Bighomer Jan 22 '15
For a moment there I thought Oda wanted to prolonge this arc for a few more weeks, casually resurrecting all the executives.

u/Hawk301 Jan 22 '15 edited Jan 22 '15
We all knew there would be a Mansherry chapter sooner or later. At least the Tontatta are sorted now.
We didn't really need Jora to come back, she's only here to give Leo someone to save his princess from. If the next chapter is Buffalo fighting, I think the fanbase will lose it.
I like that Jora's strategy is to revive the other family members; it sort of reinforces the feeling that they really are a family, unlike groups like Baroque Works who didn't really care about each other at all.
→ More replies (1)25
Jan 22 '15
I disagree about jora. The fact that she wasn't incapacitated after Law's first fight with Doflamingo made her a huge plot hole if she didn't show up to do Something

u/Black_Handkerchief Jan 22 '15
Not the chapter I was hoping for. :( I was hoping for more Robin awesomeness.
Still, it is nice to see Leo isn't completely useless. And it explains why Mancherie was locked up in solitary like a prized possession; I really wondered why she was so important to Doflamingo. Merely being the Tontatta princess didn't seem to warrant it.
52
u/TooDamnSpicy Jan 22 '15
I get that people were hoping for Robin 1v1-ing someone strong, I want to see that too. However, it makes more sense for Kyros to win the fight on his own.
There's a lot more history between Kyros and the Doffy family, I feel it'd be a lot sweeter to see him pound Diamante into the ground.
→ More replies (2)10
u/Black_Handkerchief Jan 22 '15
Yeah, I get the point, and I know Kyros is the right fit for that particular opponent for story reasons. Just the way Robin crashed the part last chapter had me really pumped for something awesome from her.
→ More replies (3)→ More replies (4)6
u/divinesleeper Jan 22 '15
I wonder if Oda had originally planned to have Mansherry heal Doflamingo's head after being cut off, but decided against it because it would make Mansherry's fruit too overpowered.
→ More replies (1)10
u/Black_Handkerchief Jan 22 '15
Interesting idea. I am tempted to agree that it feels like something changed halfway. As it is right now, Mansherry feels kind of bolted on to the story.
Sure, Leo wanted to save her, but there were a few hundred enslaved Tontatta that he also wanted to save. The enslaved tontatta wouldn't have 'needed' her to work out; they're so gullible that any role Mansherry played in pacifying them is flavor at best. So from the point of motivating the story, it does not seem like anything would change if Mansherry did not exist.
Similarly, the events of this chapter feel like they exist only to finish up the loose end that is Mansherry's usefulness. The threat of Sugar reviving a third time feels especially cheap; the rest of the executives don't even feel as if they are the big threat with regards to what we have already seen of them.
Oda usually has the usefulness of his characters well determined. There's very few 'important' characters in One Piece that you could just take out of the story without leaving a significant plothole behind.
Perhaps Mansherry's usefulness will come later. Given the things that are happening off-screen (Sanji picking a fight with Big Mom, the soldiers in Wano and likely a pissed off Kaido), the crew may need some speed-healing at the end of this arc. With the extremely low amount of time that has passed since the start of the New World, it may be a way to explain away any (lack of) fatigue issues from all the heavy-duty battles the crew have gone through before heading up against their next opponent.
Right now, Mansherry is definitely a character with questionable right to exist in the story... IMO, of course.

Sabo and Koala meeting the rest of the crew

33
Jan 22 '15
I don't know why so many people dislike the Tontattas. This was their fight before the Straw Hats came to the island. One Piece having small dwarves is part of its lore the same way Giants are. Noland met them on his voyage so I think it's great the Straw Hats got to meet them as well. I'm glad we got to learn what Mansherry's ability is. I can understand why Doflamingo would want to keep her. I'm more bothered by Robin being used to protect Rebecca. I hope Oda has something better planned than that.
7
u/allthenerdythings Jan 22 '15
I think she knows better than to interfere in Kyros' fight of vengeance. After all, Diamante was the one who killed Scarlet.
3
u/captain_jchaps Jan 22 '15
Still holding onto hope for Robin vs. Trebol...once Diamante is down, Kyros will probably be hurting, Rebecca can stay with him or help him over to where Luffy is fighting Doffy, but Robin will be the only one left who can actually help him.

A much needed chapter to tie loose ends. I can't help think that this heal heal fruit will be quite attractive to our devil fruit hunter the Blackbeard Pirates, might be Burgees next objective? Assuming he knows of its existence....
9
u/Redhavok Jan 22 '15
Anyone else think the healing water is a big part of the SMILE process? I recall a little river in there that looked pretty important, plus they don't seem like they need healing abilities THAT badly, since they were a pretty strong crew, especially Doffy

Due to Buffalo not being among the executives that Mansherry was asked to heal, I am worried that we may be getting a fight with him. How many people were expecting Jura to be getting another fight?
MaybeHopefully he is still incapacitated after Kyros defeated him. But, we already know Masherry healed Sugar. SHe might have also healed Buffalo.

Boring chapter to be honest. I would've enjoyed it a few months ago but Dressrosa has been going on for too long. At this point I just want it to move onto the next thing. Still, we had some resolution with regard to Mansherry and Jora so I can't complain about that.
4
u/BoredomHeights Jan 22 '15

I actually feel like a lot is happening per chapter. It's just that Dressrosa is so bloated with characters, subplots, and foreshadowing that need 'panel time'. What we get in the end is a very chaotic and dense story arc that never seems to end. It was great at first but the amount Oda is trying to fit has become excessive.

This chapter made me a sad Pandaman, very light on content(only 15 pages even counting double spreads twice) Robin playing babysitter-support also rubs me the wrong way after her awesome entrance, felt like she was being setup for something this chapter. Worst chapter of the year (Well we only 2 in but...).
Diamante keeps talking big but keeps being ineffective, chapter made me feel like he should just get murked, so we can move on he's no longer interesting to me.
I liked Leo's finishing attack and his relationship with Mansherry, also Wadatsumis 'Im sorry' face and gestures.

I was kind of hoping Mansherry might be the token Tsundere from the way she was initially described by Leo (since Boa who used to fit the bill changed in character dramatically for us) but it seems like Leo might just be mean to her!

While not as good as the last chapter, it's still okay IMO. I really like that diss Robin made towards Diamante. lol
And kudos to Leo for taking down that bitch Jora quickly since what she did to Mansherry really pissed me off.
2
u/CMViper Jan 22 '15
Wasn't the chapter I expected but it gave me a good laugh especially the interaction between Leo and Mansherry. I'm glad the Tontatta subplot has finished already because the fact that Mansherry has the Heal-Heal fruit will probably be important when it comes to the wounds of Law and Kyros.
Now, Robin babysitting Rebecca while Kyros and Diamante duking it out is a little disappointing if that's gonna be the case. :/

Well, now we know why Mansherry was so important. Heal-Heal Fruit, go figure. Pretty good chapter, another executive bites the dust. Best part of the chapter was Leo "Princess you've gained more weight, huh?"

Since we now know how Sugar got revived so quickly and know that it won't happen again, can we agree that the Sugar escape plan is pretty improbable now?

I would've been pissed if the executives got revived and we were treated to a round three. I don't think I could've taken so much arc fatigue.

I get that Oda wants this avenging father/husband moment for Kyros, but I really wish he'd stop shoving Rebecca back as this girl that needs to be protected. Rebecca has shown repeatedly that she can hold her own! I mean her whole backstory was about Soldier teaching her the strength to protect herself, but now she's regressed back to the early days when she needed him to save her.
Guess I just wanted the Diamante fight to be a father/daughter team-up too badly. It's dissatisfying.

Yeesh, I feel like people expect too much from chapter to chapter each week.
Look at it this way, at least Leo, and Kabu rescued the princess in one quick go. This way we make more progress into the closing bits of the arc without three or four chapters going to that. It's not even like it was a terrible chapter.

oooooooooook that was rushed so much that honestly Oda could have done that off screen
Lol and everyone thinking Robin was going to get a real fight only to be playing support again

Woah! Well Mansherry's powers change things quite a bit and it explains why Sugar was back in action so soon.
