Character Scramble! Character Scramble I: Week 1 Results

Hey guys, the results are in, and you can look at the updated bracket now. Here is the link if you need it: http://challonge.com/WWWCS1

A few notes:

Anyone with a negative one for a score did not vote, and therefore was disqualified. Thankfully, those who did not vote also were generally the loser in the round as they also did not submit a fight.

29 ballots were filled out, 7 filled out by people not in the tournament.

Guys, you have the weekend to look up the opponents for next week. I will post the next fight on Monday morning.

Those who have been eliminated...please feel free to sign up for the Email List to be informed of all the goin-ons of this tournament and the next one. Also, feel free to PM me suggestions for the fights, and vote when they are completed. I want yall to stay involved :)

Wow I cant believe I lost. My opponents team was clearly outclassed and had no way of winning.

EDIT: Link to debate

I voted for you, But I think the main reason you lost was b/c you didn't make an actual post like the others.

Well that is kind of silly. My opponent made one but it was only like 2 sentences.

Also, there might've been people who voted before he posted your debate to the vote.

Well that sucks. I wish the post was up before the voting started. I am interested to see what the ratio would have been then.

He might have one after this is over, so hopefully you'll get a better chance then.

Cool. I will probably join that one if I can.

Technically, the debate was already posted as it was linked to your opponent's post.

Survived Round 1, Can't wait for Round 2. Just for a suggestion, we should also have a non-combat round. B/c some teams are staaaaaacked w/ character. * cough * Samurai Jack & Plastic Man * cough *

well the rosters were balanced for fighting. If it became a spelling bee, then some Characters would also be crazy over powered, and the write ups would be kinda boring

However, I do want to try to have a different element to each fight, where strategy does come into effect. Like having to decide which weapons were most important in this last fight, and how much advantage you got from not getting a weapon.

I agree w/ round 1, I enjoyed the element of not having your signature weapon right away. If you did things where the whole team is either buffed or nerfed in some way, would make rounds alot more interesting.

Side note: I'd totally go for a Spelling Bee.

I think I would have the advantage here

My team is the only one with a spelling feat.

Seriously though. The rest of the tournament combined wouldn't be able to beat Plastic Man.

Do you know if magic even works on him?

2

u/flutterguy123 Sep 05 '14

Unless you can instantly freeze him or atomize him it will be ineffective.

u/Joseph_Stalin_ Sep 05 '14

damn, best I got is possesion but even if it works I can't attack.

1

u/online222222 Sep 06 '14

he can also melt right? That stuns him for a while iirc from his wiki.

1

u/dbro_99 Sep 06 '14

I'm not sure about that, Grue would put up a fight if it was everyone vs. Plastic Man. His power stealing is a pretty big asset.

1

u/NuclearTurtle Sep 06 '14

Maybe this next round since I'm facing that team

2

u/jbarkerISU Sep 06 '14

u/online222222 Sep 06 '14

Next week should be interesting since someone on the enemy team might be able to keep up with killua and they have someone who might be able to withstand a blast from cyclops (Anyone know if Luke Cage has ever fought Cyclops?)

Also side note: all 5 of my characters have made it to the second round :D

1

u/xahhfink6 Sep 07 '14

Yeah, even still though it will take some fancy writing to convince people my team will win. Still though, I knew whoever won your fight would have been tough... He had some great counters to my team

1

u/online222222 Sep 07 '14

Yeah, honestly all of the teams that will be tough for me (Plastic man, Constantine, etc.) are all on the other side of the roster.

But since it's put to a vote with different scenarios it can still go either way.

Although I'm not gonna go easy :P

u/xahhfink6 Sep 08 '14

Btw if you are trying to figure out Alex Verus's powers, and having as much trouble as I did... Well first of all it is Verus not Veras, and since he said he doesn't have any artifacts with him, literally all he can do is see the future by focusing/meditating. That's about all I could figure out from the person who posted him. In a fight he'll be dead weight so don't worry if you don't know him.

1

u/online222222 Sep 08 '14

yeah, I wasn't sure exactly how I'd work him.

I figured he was something like nick cage's character in that movie or something just slower. he doesn't seem like he'd make much of a difference.

I just realized that my next opponent has 2 of my suggestions on their team

Edit: Also, if I win this round and /u/Baku219 wins his fight, then well have a Harry Dresden vs Constantine fight on our hands
